Kougar, Savanna - Kandy Apple and Her Hellhounds (Siren Publishing Ménage Amour) Page 32

Switching his tail so it slithered like a serpent, Vresc used the length as an antenna. He sensed the frequencies now around them. Satisfied there was no direct threat, he allowed his eyes to slit, and entered a state of semi rest.

Hearing what Vresc recognized as a beneficent summons arrive from Enduoir Prime, he opened himself to contact.

Vresc, guardian to my daughter, Kalushia. I am in need of your assistance.

Meowsssh, how am I to help, mother of my witch?

First, tell my daughter the one named Odarran is here, and safe.

As you say, so I will say.

Thank you, guardian. Also, tell your witch, my daughter, that soon the new shielding of Enduoir will cause telepathic contact to be difficult at times.

  Meowsssh, yes. I will say.

I was unable to gift Kalushia with the communications crystal her father and I have prepared. May I teleport it to you now?

I shall prepare. Vresc cast his eyeless gaze, and his other magickal senses, in every direction. After scanning thoroughly, he telepathed, It is safe. I am ready.

Thank you, guardian of my beloved daughter. You possess the gratitude of my heart and the gratitude of Kalushia’s father.

Honing in on the object’s path of teleportation, Vresc observed the faint purple rays. Disappearing, they were replaced by a white flash of light.

The energy burst sliced toward him. It ended once the crystal hurtled through the ethers.

Pulsing, the green object transmuted to lightfire, or what Earthers called plasma. The closer the magickal crystal came to Vresc, the more it altered into a ball of shape-altering gel.

Landing with a plop, the contact device quivered and shot rainbow rays of light. Patiently, Vresc waited for it to solidify.

The green crystal stabilized and transformed into a geodesic star. As if he hunted prey, Vresc gave a large hop and trapped the crystal with his paws.

Once his witch’s gift accepted him, he mouthed it. It was good to be a magickal beast, he decided.

Carrying the magickal orb proudly, he returned to his watch spot. Vresc sat in wait, remaining fiercely vigilant.

Kalushia of Affrony. Kandy Apple, as her hellhounds had affectionately named her—yes, it was good to be her guaruvyr.

“Vresc kitty,” she called to him, “let’s go home.”
