“Party first. What do you say, brother?”

Though his cock was already throbbing, Cain nodded. “I’d like that, but Tirzah told me earlier, when we mated, to appear back at the party was embarrassing. You’re expected to make love to her as a human now.”

Duncan grinned. “I guess I have to stick to the rules then. How about it, bro?”

Tirzah pouted. “I guess my masters have spoken. I’ll race you.” She shifted back into her cat and bounded off toward their cabin.

  Nine months later…

Tirzah tried to relax in the birthing tub in the new medical clinic just recently completed. Hers would be the first birthing in the new building and on the island. Duncan and Torzo ran the clinic. They’d decided on a birthing tub because that was how the women on Alishur gave birth.

Tirzah held on to the rails as contractions tore at her. Duncan and Cain sat in the tub beside her, helping her, each holding a leg. Torzo supervised outside the tub.

“That’s it, Tirzah. Good girl. Take a deep breath. With the next contraction I want you to push,” Torzo said. “Pull her legs up higher and wider,” he told the men.

They already knew that Tirzah carried two babies, a girl and a boy. Her belly was huge. They were not small babies.

Tirzah screamed as another contraction tore at her.

“Push, Tirzah. Push,” Torzo shouted. “You’re crowning. I see black hair. With the next contraction, push harder.”

“Dammit, I’m pushing!” Tirzah screamed again. A small body slithered from her gaping vagina. Duncan let go of Tirzah’s leg and quickly lifted the infant from the water and placed him on Tirzah’s belly. Torzo handed scissors to Cain and he cut the cord. Duncan tugged gently and the afterbirth slid out.

Tirzah screamed again so Duncan quickly turned his attention to holding her leg. The second baby came out easier. Breathing heavily, Tirzah held her babies in her arms. One was honey colored, while the boy was somewhat darker. Both had tufts of black hair.

“It’s over, baby. We have a beautiful son and daughter,” Cain said while Duncan gazed down proudly at the infants.

“You know what you have to do now,” Torzo said to the men.

Cain and Duncan shifted. Each grabbed a placenta between their teeth and ate it. When they’d finished, they stayed in the now murky water with Tirzah for a little while until she was ready to come out.

“Next time you two can do it,” she grumbled. “I bet there would only be one birthing for each of you and that would be the end of it. Why do us women have to suffer all the pain?”

Music played softly, a soothing melody that resonated throughout the birthing chamber.

“Time to come out now,” Torzo told Tirzah. “I need to examine you to see if you need mending and I have to examine the infants.”

Calira came into the chamber, her face aglow with happiness. After Torzo had examined one infant, he handed the baby girl to her grandmother. Calira took her to the baby baths to wash her. Carly joined them. She would wash the boy baby.

Tirzah lay on the examination table, happy that it was all over and she could move normally again. Carrying the two infants had been a chore the last few months.

“As I thought. You’ll need a few stitches. The female weighed nine pounds and the male ten. Big babies. They tore you,” Torzo told her. Looking at the men he asked, “Do you want me to do a DNA test so you know who fathered them?”

“We’re both their father,” Cain said. “No DNA test.”

Torzo nodded. “As you wish.” When he was finished, Tirzah was allowed to go and shower. Duncan and Cain helped her get off the examination table, and with each of her men beside her, she walked to the shower.

Tenderly they washed her body and hair. When they were done, they dried her and helped her dress. By the time she was finished, two proud grandmothers stood holding a swaddled infant.

  “They’re so beautiful,” Carly said.

“I’m a proud grandmother,” Calira said, smiling from ear to ear as she gazed down at her granddaughter. They handed the babies to Cain while Duncan scooped Tirzah into his arms and carried her through the lobby and to the front doors. They left the small building and were greeted by a loud cheer. Everyone had gathered outside to see the first babies born on Alishur Island and of course the first infants from a mixed race. They stood on the steps for a moment. Cain held the babies up proudly. He gazed at the happy smiling faces admiring the infants. Life couldn’t be better. They had come so far in nine months. Some of his other siblings had visited the island and some were there for the happy event. Carly had made contact with her sister and she and her husband had come to live on the island.

The past and ancient laws were forgotten. Black and white cats lived together in harmony.

Calira and Carly stood beside the happy trio. “You know, our crash on Earth and the jungle now seem such a distant memory. Look at everything we’ve accomplished in such a short time.”

Carly nodded. “Just like our crash and living in the city seems like a dream.”

“Are we going home any time soon?” Tirzah said. “I’d like to rest for a while.”

“And it’s all thanks to this little lady,” Cain said. “If she hadn’t disobeyed the laws and gone exploring, none of us would be standing here.”

“Ain’t that the truth,” Duncan agreed. “But let’s take our little lady and our son and daughter home.”

“Not until they have a name.” Opek approached them.

“Oh. Yes. We’ve already chosen names. Elijah is our boy and Esther is our girl,” Cain told him.

They made their way through the crowd, which was no mean task as everyone had to peek and see close up what a black and white cat mixed baby looked like.

When they finally got to the cabin, Tirzah chose to rest on a lawn chair. Senke and Taran arrived shortly after, Senke also sporting a big belly.

“I know you’re tired, Tirzah, but I’m just here to help. I’ll cook dinner, okay? Why don’t you go to bed for a while? We can take care of the babies,” Senke said.

“Nah. I’m fine. I just want to lie here and enjoy the time with my new family. Duncan, stop hovering. You, too, Cain. I’m not sick. I’m not in any pain. I merely had two babies.”

“We’re so proud of you,” Duncan said and planted a kiss on top of her head.

Cain smiled, kissed her on the cheek and began a conversation with Taran, but when the babies suddenly howled, both men jumped up and eagerly placed one at each of Tirzah’s breasts.

“I wonder what color cats they’ll be,” Tirzah murmured as she gazed lovingly down at her babies. “I guess we won’t know for quite a few years.”
