Alex (Heartbreakers & Troublemakers Book 3) Page 18

by Hope Hitchens

She reached into the drawer of her bed stand, and she pulled a hair tie out. She gathered her hair up in her hands and tied it into a ponytail.

  Boom. Wood.

It was a trigger for me. She would do that every time she was about to go down on me, she’d conditioned me to expect to get my dick sucked when the hair went up. When she put her hand on my crotch, I was already straining against the zipper.

I held her nape and kissed her before letting her undo the button on my jeans and release my cock. I was vaguely aware of where her hands were going; I didn’t want her feeling the ring. I had ditched the box because its shape was too obvious, but it was still in there.

She tugged my jeans lower, and I raised my hips off the bed to help her. She pulled them all the way down to mid-thigh before she even touched my dick. She’d never developed a technique that she went to every time. She liked to mix it up. Suck on the head while palming the balls before she swallowed it, or start with the balls and tease me with her tongue till my dick was painful and leaky.

She went for the kill today, swallowing me whole and sucking hard. I wished her hair was loose when she did this so I could run my fingers through it, but I wasn’t going to stop her to tell her that. I closed my eyes and put a hand on her back, feeling all the way down to her ass. She knew I loved it when she swallowed, so I knew she would. It made me harder imagining it.

A knock at the door made her stop. She nearly gagged trying to reply to her roommate who was doing the knocking. She quickly got off of me and went to the door to talk to him. I didn’t hear what they were saying because I was trying to make sure my dick was out of sight. She left the door open when she came back to the bed. I paused the show.

  “Sorry about that,” she muttered.

“Hm, I bet the offer to move in with me sounds a lot sweeter now, doesn’t it,” I said. She rolled her eyes. “I went to see your parents today,” I said to her. I saw the cat come inside the room.

“How’d it go? What did you talk about?” she asked me, leaning back against the headboard. The cat had jumped up on the bed. It was like a giant black and white bowling ball. A wolf. It was big as hell. It walked right up to us rolling onto its back like we were all there to watch The Twilight Zone together and she didn’t even try to move it. The cat and Liv seemed to have reached some sort of agreement.

“They wanted to talk about my mother, college… Your mom mostly, your dad didn’t give a shit,” I said.

“Why didn’t you just go with me?”

“I had to ask them something,” I said. The cat stood and walked over my lap. It stood next to me and started pawing at the spot I was sitting like it was trying to burrow underneath me. “What’s your cat doing?” I asked her.

“He isn’t mine,” she said looking over at him. “He’s found something.” She leaned over me and hefted the cat over to her lap, which was quite a task, it was huge. There was something in its mouth, something shiny. I reached for my right-side pocket, nearly a reflex at this point. It was empty. I felt my stomach drop.

Liv gently made the cat drop the ring.

“What is this? Where’d he get it?” she asked. The ring looked bigger in her hand than it did mine. “Is this yours?”

“It’s… not really. I got it, but it’s yours,” I said. She looked at the ring, holding it, doing what looked like she was examining the stone. Was it big enough? Suddenly I was nervous it might not be.

“Mine? I don’t own…” she didn’t finish her sentence. I swallowed. I hadn’t even asked her anything, and I felt like she was about to reject my proposal. I didn’t say anything. What could I say? If she was quiet any longer I would have to say something, but what?

  Will you marry me?

She was looking at the ring like something out of a museum. Foreign and weird. Weren’t girls supposed to cry when you got them diamonds?

“Why do you have this?” she asked. Because I’ve been experimenting with accessories, why did she think I had it? This was already a horrific failure. The car had crashed, and it was burning on the highway—no survivors.

“I wanted to propose, but President Bartlett beat me to it. Was it this serious between you two this whole time?” I wanted to punch myself in the face. Gasoline; I was pouring it.

She looked at the ring, bringing it closer to her face. She didn’t need to do that; it was like four karats. It wasn’t micro. I didn’t do this all the time, but I knew some shit. The bigger, the better when it came to women; that went for diamonds, cocks, cars, houses. The lady who sold it to me said any bigger would look like I was trying to compensate for something.

“It’s beautiful,” she said quietly. I held my breath as she slipped it onto her finger. It looked like it fit, thank God. She looked at it a while before she slid it back off. “I can’t take this.”

I winced. No, I hadn’t been able to actually ask her, like say it or whatever, but I had been rejected before, and it was happening now.

  “Why?” I asked.

“Lex. There’s a woman in your house who might be pregnant with your kid,” she said. It sounded so ugly when she said it.

“She’s been there a little while. It’s a problem now?”

“Just because you let her live with you doesn’t mean the problem is over,” she said.

“What the fuck do you want me to do? Marry her?”

She narrowed her eyes and got up off the bed.

“I swear to God, Lex,” she muttered. She was heading for the door. I went after her reaching for her arm. The apartment was empty.

  “Olivia, where are you going?”

“I’m not going anywhere; you should leave.”

“No way. We’re talking about this. I don’t get it Liv. Why do you keep pushing me away? You aren’t even just pushing me away; you’re pushing me towards another woman. What the fuck?”

“If she’s having your baby, she is going to continue to be in your life,” she yelled at me.

“It’s not her I want; it’s you. I fucking want to marry you, Liv. Whatever happens with her happens. I want you there with me forever.”

She was shaking her head. Well, shit. Is this how the fuck we break up the second time?

“I can’t say yes to that, not until Cassie’s baby is born.”

“You really won’t marry me if the kid’s mine?”

  “I didn’t say that.”

“You might as well at this point, babe.”

I walked past her. She didn’t stop me. I stood at the door; my hand was on the knob. I was so mad I felt like I could rip it off.

“Keep the ring,” I told her. I closed the door behind me.

I left when I heard it lock.

  24

  Olivia

The first time Alex and I almost broke up was when we got into a fight about what we both considered cheating to be. Back in high school, especially at the beginning, I was extremely insecure about our relationship. It must have driven him crazy. I was the girl who had finally locked down Alex Kilgariff. He had chosen me. The part I didn’t really get at first was that he was serious.

He had been the guy who was with a different girl every other week. For a while, I was the girl just waiting for the moment he would peace out and bang the entire softball team.

He never did, but that didn’t mean I didn’t think he was going to or at least wanted to. That was his pattern. As his friend, who I was before we started dating, I saw it all the time. I heard glaringly different stories from the girls he dated, and from the guy himself. He would never claim anybody as his girlfriend. He would say he and whoever his current girl was were ‘hanging out’ or ‘talking.’ Code for she was sucking his dick—if they weren’t going all the way.

When he came to me and told me that Todd was a creep and I shouldn’t go to his prom with him, I didn’t want to believe him. We were friends, but he obviously had some sort of agenda. In my head, he and Todd had some sort of bet going, or something else gross like that.

; Turned out he just wanted to keep me safe. Who’s to say what would have actually happened if I had gone to prom with Todd, but the thing that did end up happening was Alex and I became a couple.

We fought a lot in the beginning. We went from friends to more than that in no time flat. I didn’t think he regarded me in any way that was remotely romantic when we would hang out. Mostly we were talking limits and quadratic equations, next thing he was telling me that he wanted me to be his girlfriend.

He went all out, sitting with me at lunch, helping me carry my books, asking me to come to his practices and games. He never could stop the flirting though. It was like his default whenever he talked to women, even our teachers. The rumors about us breaking up were far more than the number of times it actually came close to happening. I was in love. He never did anything heinous enough to push him away completely. I hoped I hadn’t this time.

I wanted to give him a couple of days before I went to see him. Three. Three became two, and two became twenty hours. I was at his house the next day. I had to stop myself again and again from trying his cell to call him at work. I didn’t know how permissive his place of work was. He didn’t need to get in trouble because of me.

If memory served, they kept the spare key to the house in the potted plant by the door. Of course, who didn’t? The twist was the front door key was stashed in the potted plant by the back door and vice versa. Obvious, but it would slow the person down who was trying to get into your house, at least a little.

It wasn’t breaking and entering if you had the key. It was trespassing, maybe, but he’d get it. It was my turn. I had him. He wanted me, and all I did was push him away.

Everything would be a hell of a lot easier without Cassie, but she wasn’t even the problem. Give Cassie a chance, give Cassie a place to stay, give me time before you asked me to marry you; he had done it all.

He loved me, but he had to have a limit. If I just kept pushing… this time it would be my fault when he flew across the country.

He was meant to be at work, but that was fine. I could wait. I hoped he didn’t have any buddies he’d want to catch a beer with after or anything.

I walked into the house, calling his name and Cassie’s to make sure nobody was home. I had the ring in my purse. I walked up the stairs to his room and set it down on the pile of books on his bedside table where he’d be sure to see it. It was under an hour when I heard the door unlock downstairs. I walked down and found him in the living room. He didn’t seem surprised to see me, which he really should have; what if I was there to steal from him?

“Have you been here long?” he asked. “Sorry, if you were waiting for me.”

“Not that long, where were you?” I asked him.

“With Cassie. She asked me to go to the hospital with her.”

  “Is everything okay?”

  “Great. The kid’s fine… it’s a boy.”

“Yeah? That’s great,” I tried to say honestly. Everything was fine with the baby he might have with another woman. If it was his, I would probably love it on the strength of that alone, but it was still a little weird to discuss.

“Is it always going to be this awkward when we discuss this?”

“Maybe we’ll get better with practice.”

He sat down on the sofa and let his head fall back. He sighed loudly. I went over and sat next to him. I folded my legs into myself and leant against him. His hand found my knee.

“I would never make you a stepmom on purpose,” he said quietly.

“I know,” I whispered. I looked at him. His head was still back. I shifted, climbing into his lap, straddling him. He raised his head to look at me. His hands went to my hips to hold me steady.

  “You’re upset.”

  “I’m not.”

I kissed him. He kissed me back, but his face was still hard—lines between his eyebrows that would become permanent if he kept making that face.

  “You’re sulking.”

  “I don’t sulk.”

I watched his face. Irritated, obviously pissed. Mad at me. Mad enough to sulk, but not mad enough to not let me sit on him.

“Is this because of the proposal?”

  “You refused to marry me.”

  “I didn’t refuse. I didn’t say no. I said not yet.”

“It wasn’t a yes,” he said. His hands tightened around my hips, and he ground me into him. He was pouting. It was sort of adorable.

“Things just need to clear up first. I love you. I want to be your wife.”

“Hm.” I felt his lips on my neck. He kissed a few spots lightly, going lower and lower before he met my shirt. He kissed over my clothed chest. “Then marry me,” he whispered.

“Not when you propose with my tit in your mouth,” I said. He looked up at me.

“If you keep saying no, I’m going to stop asking,” he threatened lightly. “Then you’ll have to ask me,” he teased.

Shit, then we’ll never get married.

“You’d say yes if I asked you?”

“Fuck no. You can’t take that away from me. That’s like taking one of my nuts. I have to ask you.”

“Better hurry up before I get a better offer,” I teased.

“You won’t take it,” he said cockily. He grabbed the hem of my shirt and started pulling it off of me. I raised my arms to let him. Our lips met as he unhooked my bra with one hand. No arguments there. He wasn’t getting away from me again. I had already seen the ring. I had seen what it looked like on my hand. It was gorgeous.

It had a white gold band, and the stone was a classic white cushion-cut diamond. I wanted it. I wanted to hear him ask for my hand in marriage. I also wanted to ask who helped him pick it out. He was great at a lot of things, and I trusted that he knew what I liked, but not when it came to things like that.

He touched me. His rough, callused skin made my nipples stand at attention. He squeezed my nipples, hard enough to sting, hard enough to make me moan. Hard enough to make me wet underneath my clothes. He took one in his mouth and sucked. I tugged the hem of his shirt so I could pull it up, off his body. I ran my hands down his thick, hard chest, down his blocky abdominal muscles.

His attention turned to my other nipple as I got to work on his pants. I pulled him out of them and gently jerked the tip. He moaned and squeezed my ass.

“I want you naked, babe,” he said.

I stood and slid my pants down my legs, letting my panties go with them before straddling him again. He pulled his pants all the way off, leaving them on the floor. I grabbed his cock and watched his face. He was transfixed, watching his cock run up and down my cleft. The grip he had on my hips was nearly painful.

I held him at the base and fed the thick head of his cock into me. I waited. I had to; I was so close. I wanted to make it last as long as I could. He had other ideas. He suddenly thrust up into me, hard and quick, shoving his entire length into me in one precise blow.

The orgasm crackled through me just as quickly and suddenly. I collapsed against him. I screamed. The pleasure felt like hot, electric shocks. Everything went fuzzy and disappeared. The only thing I was aware of was Alex’s cock and the delicious friction he was creating deep inside me.

His thrusts were rough and fast. I lost one hand in his hair; the other grasped his muscled shoulder. I moaned. I couldn’t ride him if I wanted to, his powerful arms had me immobilized. I couldn’t feel embarrassed about how wet I was, or the sounds coming out of me. My body was on fire. I wanted it to last, the heat and pleasure his body made me feel.

He was hurtling towards his release. His thrusts were shallow and getting faster. I could feel sweat on his back where I held him. I could hear him grunting and exhaling sharply.

I know I heard him speak, but whatever it was was lost on me. My second orgasm reared up and engulfed me. I screamed again, sinking my nails into his back. His hard cock moving inside me, like the hot pleasure snaking through me from my core became the only two things I felt. He came soon after, releasing his
seed inside me.

I felt like I had been insensible for hours, not seconds when I felt his lips on my neck, up my throat and finally my lips. His penis was softening. I tried to raise myself up off his lap to separate us, but he held me down against him.

My breathing was erratic. I felt like I’d just climbed up a mountain. He kissed me deeply, with his tongue soft against mine.

“If I asked you right now, would you say yes?” he asked me.

“Mm-hmm,” I said. I heard what I thought was the front door unlocking.

“Shit,” Alex hissed, shooting up so fast I nearly fell on the ground. “Cassie’s here,” he said, wrestling his pants on. I scrambled for my clothes. “Go upstairs, wait for me,” he said. I fled up the stairs with only my pants, panties and shirt. My bra was still down there. I got to his room and shut the door. I heard the dull sound of their voices downstairs.

I braced myself against his bedroom door, and it struck me, the complete absurdity of what was happening. I laughed. You didn’t think anything about your life until you compared it to the lives of others. I had nearly been caught naked with Alex downstairs, by his roommate who also happened to be the girl who might be pregnant with his kid.

This was the last place I would have thought I would be if anyone had asked me five years ago. It wasn’t perfect, but I didn’t need that. I didn’t need a perfect man, or perfect relationship, I just needed Alex.

Five years ago, that was what I would have said, and it hadn’t changed. We had changed—we had to—but what we had? That was the same. It was even better. It had had years to grow, the way we had. It was more passionate and fiery, but it was stronger. It didn’t matter whether Cassie’s baby was his. He was mine. And I was his.

The five years apart hadn’t changed that. The ring was where I had put it, on top of The Wonder of Knifemaking by Wayne Goddard. I walked over and picked it up. I slid it on and looked at it. The next time he asked, I would say yes.
