Zara's Second Chance [One More Time] (Siren Publishing Allure) Page 11

“Hmm!” He tasted so good. “I honestly can’t control myself around you, Peter. I’m like a nymphomaniac when you’re around.” She shook her head in desperation and giggled.

“You’re insatiable, sweetheart. Passionate. I love that about you. Never change, love,” he groaned.

“Well, I can promise you that will never happen.” She giggled and tapped his chest.

She took hold of his left hand, now completely recovered, and guided him to the bathroom for a quick shower before their guests arrived.

One hour later, two of his friends showed up, alongside Gerald Thompson, Peter’s longtime friend and coworker. They sat around the table when the doorbell chimed.

Peter was about to distribute the cards. “Did you invite a friend, sweetheart?” he asked her.

Zara shook her head. “No. But I’ll go and see who it is. Please carry on with the game, I won’t be long,” she said and pushed her chair back to get up.

She made her way to the door and opened it. Yasemin held a bottle of wine and a box of chocolate.

“Hey, sister. What about some girly time together with your favorite wine and some fattening chocolate?” she said, wiggling the bottle and the chocolate box with a cheeky grin.

“Sorry, sister, no girl time tonight. I have some guests, but come in,” she offered, pulling on her hand and guiding her to the kitchen where the guys started to play.

“Hey, guys,” she called. “I would like to present you my sister Yasemin.”

“Hello, honey, how are you? Glad you came. Would be nice to have another beautiful face around here,” Peter said with a laugh.

“Hey, Peter!” said Yasemin. “Hi, everyone.” Yasemin waved her hand to them.

She sat Yasemin between Gerald and Peter.

Turning to her, while everyone calmed down and the game resumed, Gerald asked, “Would you like to join the game, Yasemin?”

Zara could see that her sister couldn’t meet Gerald’s eyes. “Thank you but I’ll just watch,” she replied with gentle smile.

Gerald winked. “That’s all right, lovie. Ask away if you have any questions.” His actions got her all flushed.

Her little sister looked a bit taken by Gerald. A couple of hours later, she saw everyone to the door.

“Well, that went well,” she said with a little giggle.

Peter tidied the kitchen up and switched off the light. He moved toward her and gathered her in his arms.

“What made you giggle?” he asked as he kissed her cheeks gently.

“Didn’t you see what was happening between Yasemin and Gerald?” she asked softly.

He shook his head with a frown. “Typical man,” she said and swatted at his shoulder.

“Hey, less physical abuse,” he cried out with a laugh. “Seriously! Do you think that there’s something between those two?”

“Only time will tell,” she answered.

She looked at this strong yet gentle man and could hardly believe her good fortune. She closed her eyes and took a couple of breaths.

She heard Peter cough. “Zara Miller, will you marry me?”

When she opened her eyes, he kneeled on one knee before her with loving eyes in the middle of her living room. In his hand he held a small box. The lid was open and an engagement ring with a glimmering stone sat in white satin.

“I love you so much. I want to wake up with you every morning, I want to start a family with you, and I just want to grow old with you.”

She knew her heart skipped several beats when he asked her to be his wife.

She crossed her hands over her heart. “Yes, Peter, I would love to marry you. I love you so much.” She could feel tears in her eyes.

He rose swiftly and slipped the ring on her finger. She threw herself in his arms and hugged him like her life depended on it.

“Do you remember what you promised me?” Peter asked her while he looked into her eyes.

Now he had completely lost her. “What?”

  “I’ll show you.”

Suddenly she found herself dangling from his shoulder. When she lifted her head up, she had the most beautiful view of his tight butt. Oh, yum, what a view! She started to palm his cheeks through his jeans.

“I knew you weren’t a stupid woman. You understood my meaning,” he said with a chuckle.

“Oh, I don’t know about stupid, but you have one horny woman in your arms now,” she replied huskily.

He smacked her ass. “Do you remember what I said earlier? Never change. I love you just the way you are.”

When she heard those words, she sighed in contentment. What a great life, huh? She looked at the diamond on her finger and she knew that it was for real.

  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Born in Turkey in the eighties, educated in France, studied at Cambridge University. I’m a thirty-three-year-old youngish woman living in Northern Ireland now, with my wonderful Northern Irish husband as well as my children (boy 23, two girls 8 and 2, and a wee granddaughter).

I was always attracted to books since I could remember. As I grew “older” my love for books followed. I always wanted to write but I had this fear of refusal. Putting my phobia aside, I pulled my big girls knickers on and started to write six months ago.

Yes! Only six months ago. It wasn’t long before I decided to try my hand at getting it published. I couldn't describe what I felt when I learned that my first book, Zara’s Second Chance, was going to be published in June. Since then, I'm working on two more manuscripts.
