“I honestly don’t even want to know how he does it.” Lasandro shivered. “That was probably one of the grossest things I’ve ever seen. Even worse than Pony and John kissing.”

Pony gritted her teeth, unsheathed her sword and chased Lasandro around the room.

Pony and John put their luggage through the conveyer belt at the security checkpoint of Tokyo International. The x-ray revealed a bag full of weaponry, including four swords. The security guard couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

John looked at Pony. “Can I?”

  Pony nodded.

John looked into the guard’s eyes. “You don’t see any weapons. You see toothbrushes. Okay?”

  Dazed, the guard nodded.

“And you’re a monkey,” John added. “Yeah, you’re a flying monkey.”

The guard crouched down and started flapping his arms.

John and Pony laughed until they saw Morgan giving them a dirty look. “I see you two are going to be a handful,” she said.

Lasandro looked at the guard. “Dude, you’re not a flying monkey.”

  “Thank you,” Morgan said.

Lasandro smiled. “You’re a singing monkey that only sings eighties rock music!”

The guard started singing, “Pour some shuga in meh!”

“I swear I can’t stand y’all,” Morgan said, laughing all the way to their gate.

“Ugh, these things are so uncomfortable,” Morgan shifted in her seat.

“Tell me about it,” Lasandro said.

“Japan has been … interesting,” Morgan said, “but I’m glad we’re leaving. I wonder if Mita left too?”

“Right now, he’s probably hanging upside down in a cave somewhere,” Lasandro said. He gently elbowed Morgan and whispered, “You know I never joined the mile high club.”

  “You didn’t?” Morgan asked.

Lasandro nodded, a smirk forming on his face.

Morgan cleared her throat. “I should probably pee before we liftoff.” Morgan got up and went to bathroom.

Lasandro waited a minute, looked around, then disappeared into the same bathroom.

The sign to buckle seatbelts lit up just a young woman sat next to Pony. “O-M-G, I love your dress! If my mother would have bought those kind of dresses for me, I would have worn them. Where did you get it?”

  “Aqua City.” Pony replied.

“Awesome, I have to go there when I get back. I have to go to my mom’s funeral.”

  “Sorry,” Pony said.

“It’s okay,” she said. “I really didn’t like her anyway.” She opened a bag of snacks and offered it to Pony. “Pork skins?”
