When the party was over, Sam got the kids cleaned up and left them with Logan for the night. Josephine's could handle a night with the assistant manager on duty, but Joe's needed a Marlowe in charge on a weekend. When he got downstairs, Silas wasn't anywhere in sight, so he knew that he'd made the right move.
Silas staggered into the bar at around eleven. "All these years, he finally shows up again, and it's dementia." He shook his head. "Damn it."
Sam swallowed his disappointment. They would never know why their father had walked out on them. He'd only come back because the old man himself had forgotten why he'd left. Sam's disappointment wasn't the important thing right now, though. Keeping Silas' spirits up was. "Look, Silas, think about it this way. When whatever got into his head that made him run got stripped away, his first thought was to come back home. It proves that, on some level, he did love us."
Silas poured himself a drink and drained it. "Go on, get upstairs. I've got this."
"Are you sure?"
"You bet. I kind of want the distraction right now, Sam. We can talk about this tomorrow. Or never. Your pick."
Sam scurried off. He didn't need to be told twice. Before he left, though, he mixed a martini and brought it upstairs with him.
The kids were both asleep when he got there. That was for the best. Sam locked the apartment door behind him and put the martini on a coaster beside his alpha's hand.
Logan had been dozing in his chair. His eyes flew open when he heard the glass connect with the wood, and he smiled when Sam's scent hit his nostrils. "You're home early."
"Silas needed the distraction." He sat down in his mate's lap, straddling him. Logan reacted immediately and Sam smiled. At least he could say that he could still get his alpha going, even after four years and two kids. He explained the situation with his father as it stood now, and he let Logan put his hands onto Sam's hips.
"Are you okay?" Logan asked him, looking into his eyes.
Sam bit his lip and looked up, considering. "I'm frustrated. After all this time, I don't think we'll ever know why he left. At the same time, though, I think it's okay. It's been me and Silas forever. Then it was me and Silas and you and Kaylee, and now we have the kids. We don't… we don't need him." He sighed. "So I'm frustrated and I'm disappointed, and I'm sad for him. Maybe I need a distraction too."
Logan chuckled and ran a hand up and under Sam's tee shirt. "A distraction, huh?" He stopped then. "I think we should move this into the bedroom."
Sam made a face. "Not a big fan of little eyes peeping around the corner? Yeah, me neither." He climbed off of his alpha and glided down toward the bedroom.
Once he was in there, he shucked his clothes and put them into the laundry. He usually liked to be stripped and laid bare, but he wasn't in the mood for that kind of teasing tonight. No, tonight he wanted there to be no guesswork involved. Behind him, Logan noticed his determination and went over to the bedside table. He set his martini down and grabbed a bottle of lube.
Sam locked the door behind them, because kids tend not to have boundaries.
Logan stripped himself down and sat down in the bed, with his back propped up against the headboard. He beckoned to Sam with a little smile on his face.
Sam crawled up the bed, mouthing his way up his alpha's legs as he moved. He'd never been the most inhibited guy, but the claim had flipped a switch inside of him. He felt perfectly comfortable now just grabbing onto Logan and doing whatever felt natural to him, without shyness or reservation. Sometimes that meant letting Logan take the lead in bed. Sometimes that meant what he was doing now, where Logan lay back and let Sam put his mouth all over his body until he cried uncle.
Sam worked on Logan's hardening cock and balls until he dripped with sweat, panting with his hands fisted in the sheets. Then he reached for the lube and slicked his own fingers up, teasing himself open slow and sure. Logan watched, open-mouthed, while Sam got himself ready. Finally Logan climbed up onto his mate and straddled him, lining himself up with Logan's meaty cock.
He paused for a moment, letting Logan enjoy the anticipation. Logan's breath's came thin and a little desperate in his ear, like all he could think about was what was about to come. Then Sam sank down onto Logan's cock, slow and steady, letting gravity do the work of the initial penetration for him.
Once he was fully seated, he paused to adjust. He rested his forehead against Logan's, with his hands laced behind Logan's neck. He'd always liked this position, and probably always would. He got so much skin-to-skin contact this way, and so much intimacy, that a little bit of awkwardness when they separated was worth it to him.
"You okay?" Logan asked, putting a hand on Sam's face.
Sam leaned into the touch and took a deep breath, bathing in his alpha's scent. He nodded. Logan wasn't the only one covered in sweat. Sam dripped with it, only in the best ways of course. He didn't mind. He moved his hips, slowly at first. Then he circled them faster and faster, until he got to a rhythm that he liked. Logan's eyes danced, and the grin on his face could have lit up the room.
Sam had to press his lips together to keep from crying out. That was one thing that had changed since Joey put in his appearance. He'd always been a vocal lover before becoming a father. While he tried to be considerate of the brother just down he hall, it wasn't the end of the world if he let out a moan or a groan. Silas did the same to him; neither of them was a monk and they didn't expect that kind of thing from the other one. Parenthood, though, that was different. He and Logan had to rely on silent cues — hand motions, changes in breathing — to let them know how their mate was feeling. By now, Sam knew that the little hitch in Logan's breath right there meant that he was close.
He reached down and took himself in hand. Just as he felt his alpha's release deep inside of him, he gave himself a few rough tugs and spilled over his hand.
He half-collapsed on top of his alpha for a moment, and they lay in a tangled and messy heap. Then he got up and grabbed a bathrobe. Sam went to clean himself up and came back with a cloth for Logan. Then they both changed into sleep pants — another addition that followed the arrival of their older child — and snuggled up close for bed.
"Feeling better?" Logan asked him, carding a hand through Sam's hair.
Sam hummed. "Always," he said. "My family's right here." He kissed his alpha. "I get to remind myself of that sometimes."
"Hell yeah you do." Logan held him close, and Sam drifted off to sleep, safe in the arms of his alpha.
