Present Day

“Heeeeyy!” My voice slurred as I grinned drunkenly at my brother, Max. “How long you been sittin’ there?” I’d come into town this evening to forget my troubles but the thing was, I wasn’t sure there was enough alcohol in this place for that.
“Long enough to know that I’m driving you home tonight.” Max sighed as he motioned to the bartender to stop serving me. “How many of those you had?”
“Not enough.” I lifted the bottle in front of me to my lips, and polished off what was left. “I need another.” I frowned when Chuck, my bartender, ignored me. “Yo!” I lifted the empty bottle.
“He isn’t bringing you another, bro.” Max turned to face me, at least I think he did. My vision wasn’t the best at the moment.
“Why the hell not?” I growled. I was angry, but my anger was being directed at the one person who probably understood me best.
“Because I need to take you home. Hailey’s waiting on me, and I’d like to spend some time with her before Jake wakes up for his midnight feeding.” Max rubbed his palm down his face. “Please, Micha. She ain’t worth this.”
“You’re right. She ain’t.” I grabbed the empty bottle, forgetting that it was empty, and lifted it to my lips. When nothing came out, not even a drop, I started to laugh. The longer I sat there, the more maniacal my laugh became. “I can’t go home to Mom and Dad’s. Can I crash on your couch?” I frowned as I swung my head toward my brother. He always had a soft spot for me, even when I was being as asshole.
“If you wake up my kids…” He shook his fist in my face.
“I’ll be good.” I sighed. “One of us needs to be getting laid tonight.” Right as the words fell from my lips, Brittany Fisher walked into the bar. “Heeeyy, Baby.” I grinned at her. She squinted as she looked at me, then her eyes swung to Max. I glanced at him, and he was slowly shaking his head. “Dude!” I smacked his shoulder. “Are you cock blocking me?”
“She is not what you need right now,” he growled under his breath. He was right. She wasn’t what I needed, or wanted. She was the girl who was keeping me warm at night at the moment. She was a fill in, like all the others. I’m sure I was going to wake up tomorrow telling myself that I’d never fuck her again, but right now I needed her. I needed her to tell me how sexy I was, how I made her come over and over, and I needed that warm body to wrap around me and make me forget who I really wanted.
I needed her to fill the void I’d been trying to get past for the last five years, the void that had turned the hole in my heart into a crater that seemed to be getting bigger as the years passed by. I fell in love at seventeen with a girl I thought would someday be my forever. She said she loved me back, and we made plans; only our plans didn’t include her moving away. She got into a college on the other side of the country, and her dad moved with her. She said Utah would always be her home. It’s funny, I once thought I’d be her home. It might as well have been the other side of the world for us. She dropped the proverbial bomb on prom night, and I’ve never forgiven her. I told myself after it happened that I would never let another woman mean something to me. I’d never get attached. Am I an asshole at times? Yes. I’ll admit that. I never promise them anything, but most of them keep coming back.
“Hey, Micha.” Brittany’s arm wrapped around my shoulders as she leaned in and pressed a kiss to my neck. Normally I don’t do this type of thing in public, but I’m drunk enough that I don’t care at the moment.
“Hey.” I winked at her. She was wearing a denim miniskirt that was short enough I could bend her over and have my way with her right here. “You look cold.” I grinned as I pulled her into my side. “You can go now.” I chuckled as my brother shook his head at me. He knew what was happening.
“Are you going to take him home?” He stood and stared pointedly at Brittany.
“I’ll take care of him tonight.” She giggled as she leaned closer into my side.
“I’m out.” Max tossed his hands in the air. He’d lost, and he knew it. He was being a good big brother, and letting me have what I wanted, or rather what I thought I wanted. “See you at work tomorrow.” He waved before disappearing in the crowd.
“You wanna get out of here? They cut me off.” I stuck my lip out in a pout at Brittany as my hand traveled slowly up her thigh. “I can think of some better things to do anyway.” I grinned as I let my fingertips brush her panties.
“Me too,” she all but purred. Brittany always was easy. The first time I fucked her, she all but flopped on the bed and spread her legs. She followed me around at work for weeks begging for more.
I tossed some bills on the bar before standing, and staggering toward the door. “You’re gonna have to drive. I can’t really get us anywhere right now.” I laughed as I stumbled through the doorway.
“We’re not going far.” She giggled as she led us around the building to her truck. She opened the passenger door, and slid across the seat. As I climbed in, I watched in utter fascination as she hoisted her skirt up over her hips. “I’ve been waiting all night for this.” Her eyes flared. “I hope you’re ready.” She reached for me, fumbling with the buckle of my jeans. We both pulled at the leather belt in our way as I wrestled to get my jeans down. Once I was able to shove them past my knees, Brittany got on all fours on the seat. As soon as my brain caught up to what was happening, I felt her mouth close over me.
“Fuck!” I hissed as she sank down, and my hips rose to meet her. Her bare ass was up in the air, but she didn’t seem to mind. Her lips tightened around my cock, and she sucked hard. She’d done this before, but we’d never fucked in a public place. The idea kinda thrilled me, and I made a mental note to do this sober next time.
Her cheeks ho
llowed out as her head bobbed, her tongue swirling around the tip. I grunted in satisfaction and she released a hum of pleasure. Every time I thought she was going to stop, she’d double her efforts. I wasn’t going to be able to hold out much longer. The only reason I’d made it this far was because of the alcohol. “Brit.” I pulled at her shoulders.
“I’m not done yet.” She frowned.
“Well, I will be if you don’t stop. I’d rather finish inside you.” I gave her a lopsided smirk. “Give me a sec.” I reached for my wallet, and removed a condom. After rolling it on, I turned and beckoned her to me. “All set.” I winked ask she flung one leg over my lap and straddled me. As she sank down, we both groaned.
“Fuck. I needed this.” She moaned as she started to move.
You and me both, babe. I’d needed a release ever since this morning. I’d been trying to find a way to get Savannah out of my head since she walked into the stand bright and early. She’d blown back into my life just as suddenly as she’d left, only this time I wasn’t a seventeen year old kid who’d do anything for her. This time, I was a man who remembered how bad she’d hurt me. She’d broken my heart, and that need to break hers was still there. I needed her to feel the pain I’d felt all those years ago, and the harder Brittany rode me, the better I seemed to be.
Chapter 1
Micha
Senior year. It was finally here. I’ve been waiting on this milestone since my brother graduated. He’d repeatedly boasted about how great being a senior was on a daily basis back then. As I readied for school today, I had this sinking suspicion that it wasn’t going to be as great as he made it out. Max was on the football team, he had a girlfriend, and Hailey was his best friend. He had everything that I didn’t. I thought when I got old enough, Hailey might see that I was the right Stanton brother for her, but that didn’t happen. She’s been engaged to her college boyfriend since Christmas of last year.
“Hey!” my best friend Ryan called out as he jogged down the hallway of Dalton High. The morning bell hadn’t rung yet, and I was still attempting to shove everything into my locker.
“Hey.” I sighed as I jammed the door closed. “What’s up?”
“I think I just fell in love.” He grinned as his brows bounced.
“You say that all the time. Who is she? Some new teacher that you have no chance with?” I snickered as Ryan frowned.
“No.” He jerked his head back. “New girl. I saw her in the parking lot, and walked her into the office. I’m guessing she’s getting her schedule and stuff. I volunteered to show her around. Can you believe Ms. Lambert said no?”
I started laughing. “Yes.” I laughed harder. “Since when have you been the welcoming committee?”
“Since new students looked like this chick. I’m telling you, man. By the end of the day I’ll have her phone number.” Ryan’s head tipped to the side. “So, who do you have for first again?”
“Mrs. Snyder.” I rolled my eyes. “I told you this last week.”
“I hate English.” Ryan groaned. “Why do we take it anyway?”
“So you can sound like you know what you’re talking about.” I smacked him on the back of the head.
“I guess. I mean, I don’t really need it for what I’m going to do.” He shrugged as we stopped at the door to my class.
“Like what? Be a mute Everyone talks, dummy.” I turned to go in the classroom. “Later.”
“Later.” Ryan waved before jogging off towards the math wing. Sometimes I wondered about him, but he was my best friend.

“Hey, honey. Are you sure you’re ok driving yourself to school?” my dad called from somewhere down the hall.
“I’ll be fine. Thanks,” I called back as I rummaged through our kitchen in search of something to call breakfast. We’d just moved into our house three days ago from Utah. My dad got a job offer that he couldn’t refuse, and therefore moved us all the way to the other side of the country. It was the third time we’d moved in the last five years. He promised me that this would be it, but I had my doubts. “It’s not like I haven’t done this before!” I yelled again, still not seeing him.
“Well, have a good day; maybe we can go exploring later tonight.” His voice trailed off, and I assumed he found whatever he was looking for.
When I finally came across the bread we’d bought, I shoved it in the toaster, and went to grab my backpack. By the time I came back to the kitchen, my toast had popped. I grabbed my keys and sunglasses, and then rushed out the door to head to school.
It was only the second week, but the parking lot was a buzz. Students were divided up in the little clicks that you seem to find at every school. I picked a spot that was away from everyone, and then began the trek inside to find the office.
“Hi.” The voice came from behind me as I was grabbing my backpack out of the passenger seat. I turned around and was met with a cocksure smile.
“Hello.” I smiled at him as I hoisted my bag onto my shoulder. I watched as his eyes traveled the length of me before he met my eyes again.
“You new here?” He grinned. “You have to be. I’d remember you.”
“Where can I find the office?” I pushed the clicker on my key fob to lock my car as I started to step toward the front door.
“I can show you.” He bowed as he motioned for me to go ahead of him. I could feel his eyes on me as we made our way inside, but I wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction of knowing that. “It’s right here.” He pulled open a heavy door, and let me step in first. “Morning, Ms. Lambert.” He waved.
“Hi.” I stepped up to the counter, ignoring the boy who was still lingering. “I’m Savannah Lucas. I need to pick up my schedule. Today’s my first day.” I tapped my foot to release the nervous energy.
“Just a moment.” Ms. Lambert began sifting through a stack of papers.
“I can be her buddy today, Ms. Lambert,” the boy piped up.
“I can get her a buddy that’ll be better equipped, Ryan.” She laughed and Ryan frowned.
“Thanks for your help.” I smiled at him. I know he thought I was probably clueless, but I didn’t need a buddy. A map would work well enough. “See ya around.” I waved my fingers before going back to my previous position and waiting for Ms. Lambert to give me my schedule.
“Here we go. Savannah Lucas. You have Mrs. Snyder for Senior English first period. You wanna go left out this door, and it’s the fifth door on the right.” Ms. Lambert pointed and smiled before handing over the schedule.
“Thank you.” I took the paper and followed her directions.

I was one of the first students to come in to class this morning. It was a habit of mine. I liked to be early. I could pick the seat I wanted, and I wasn’t rushing to be prepared. When we were younger, Max used to tease me. He was always late.
Mrs. Snyder was sitting at her desk when I made myself comfortable in a seat on the third row. I didn’t like being at the front, but I didn’t like being in the back either. I was reading over the chapter that we’d been assigned the night before when I glanced up and caught sight of someone I didn’t know. She was talking to Mrs. Snyder, and she handed over a piece of paper.
“You can take that seat behind Micha. Here’s a copy of what we’re reading.” She handed the girl a paperback of Les Mis. “You can give that back to me once you’ve gotten your own copy.”
“Thank you.” She smiled as she headed in my direction. She had to turn slightly to fit down the aisle with her backpack.
“Hi.” I turned in my chair as she lowered herself into hers. “I’m Micha.” I held out my hand to shake.
“Savannah.” She smiled as she shook my hand. She placed her backpack on the floor beside her desk and bent over to dig through it for something to write with. “How far have you guys read in this?” she mumbled with a pen between her teeth.
“Chapter 9, but I’m
sure Mrs. Snyder will give you time to catch up. I could help if you want.” I shrugged. I sounded like an idiot, but this girl had me all twisted up. She was beautiful, but in a way that said she wasn’t trying. Her blonde hair was piled on the top of her head, and held in place with these stick things. She had a baggy jersey style top on with a pair of skinny jeans and flipflops.
“I’m not worried. I’ve read Les Mis four times already.” She laughed lightly as she dropped a notebook on her desk. “But thanks for the offer.”
“It’s no problem.” I started to turn back around, but then stopped. “Where do you head next?” She blinked as a confused look washed over her face. “On your schedule.” I motioned to the paper neatly tucked under her books.
“Oh.” She laughed as she rolled her eyes. “I have physics, then calculus, before heading to lunch.”
“Two out three ain’t bad.” I grinned. “I have calc third period too.”
“Well at least I’ll know someone. I hate being the new kid.” She sighed just as Mrs. Snyder closed the door, and began class.

So far my day hadn’t been too bad. Classes seemed to be moving quickly, and everyone I’d met had been really nice. Micha seemed pretty cool. He’d helped me find my locker, and gave me a rough run down of the building.
“You’re welcome to sit at my table for lunch.” Micha tossed his hand in the air as we exited calculus class. “I mean, if you don’t have other plans.”
“Thanks.” I smiled. “I need to run by my locker first to ditch some of these books, and grab my lunch.”
“Sure. We sit at a table on the left side.” He smiled as he turned and went in the opposite direction. I wasn’t sure what to make of him. He didn’t treat me like the other boys I’ve met. He treated me like a friend would. Most of the guys around here seemed to only want to date me. I’ve been asked to go to Friday’s game twice already today.
