He puts his hands around Savannah’s back and lifts her to him. Savannah moans with passions and wraps her hands around his back. William continues to thrust deeply in and out of Savannah more and more. As he does, the more Savannah moans with desire. They continue to kiss and hold each other as if it was to be the last time either of them would ever see one another again. The desire love and passion each was showing freely to the other could never be described in any single word. William then rolled Savannah over on to her back upon the bed and gently began to thrust softly but fast in and out of her until they both had climaxed. William then leans down and softly kisses Savannah’s lips and lays next to her with his arm around her he gently caresses her soft skin she lays her head upon his chest listening to his heart beat but neither say a word they just lay in this perfect moment of bliss and love they share right now.

Meanwhile back in Lucy’s room John knocks on her door and Lucy says, “Come in.” John walks in and asks Lucy if there is any more stew around. Lucy turns to John and says, “I am not sure but I can make some for you if you like.” John notices the worry in Lucy’s eyes, walks over to her, and asks if she is all right? Lucy replies “No John I am not. I worry so much about all that is to come here.” John puts his arm around Lucy and comforts her He says “Lucy this is going to work you will see.”

Lucy says, “I just hope so I sure do hope so.” John then turns to Lucy and says “Now about that stew” and chuckles. Lucy says, “sure come with me” and smiles at John, as to say thank you for his kindness towards her. In the living room, William’s father lays there in silence thinking about the battle and his dear wife. He sits up, opens his pocket watch, and looks at his blushing bride as he remembers her. “She was so beautiful,” the General says softly. “I wish you were here Millie you would be so proud of our boy. He has grown to be a fine man and a strong and smart one at that. He has a beautiful woman who loves him. Oh, Millie I wish you were here to talk to me and say those sweet words of comfort you always knew how to say to me at times like this. I do worry my love about this plan and about the safety and well-being of both Savannah and William.” The General closes the pocket watch, tucks it back into his pocket, rolls over on the couch, and tries to sleep.

Meanwhile The Southern General is still pondering away over Savannah, and how he is going to marry her and have three strong strapping boys with her. He is so consumed by this he does not realize his troops out side. The men are gathering their belongings and getting ready to move out in the morning. They have devised a plan to walk with the General and then split off one by one into the woods and head for home. They all agree the General has lost his mind and has become a danger to them in the battle. They rather go home then die with a crazy man. Now The General has had a scout out wandering around that no one even knew about He finally reaches camp and sneaks into the General’s tent. ‘Sir, Sir” he says I have news. The General jumps up and says “man don’t you know it’s dangerous to sneak up on people.” ‘Sorry Sir” The scout says “but I have news you will not want to hear.” The Southern General says ‘go on boy.’

The scout says ‘Well I have found out that The Northern troops have left there last place and were headed this way. I also found out that they would be arriving the same time we do at Miss Savannah’s Plantation.’ The General gets upset and kicks over his stove. Then he says ‘Thank you, you did good boy.” The General walks out of his tent and states to his troops “we are leaving now and heading into battle with the north first thing at day break so pack up men and move out.” The men stand there confused and wondering what he is talking about. The Solider goes in to talk to him and says, “General what is going on?’

The General replies ‘I have news that the northern army is headed our way and we will be seeing them at the same time as we arrive at Miss Savannah’s. We will beat them there and surprise them.” The soldier thinks this is not going to work but the General insists and tells him to go get the men ready and headed out. The solider returns to thee others and tells them the General’s plan the men say, “We stick to our own plan he is mad completely mad.” The soldier’s agrees. The men pack up and head out as planned toward the plantation The General still obsessed with Savannah says to him self I will save you Savannah from the dirty Yankees and then you will be mine all mine .

The Southern General and his men continue their journey on ward toward Savannah’s Plantation. The Southern General still pinning over Savannah does not realize that one by one his men are scattering off into the woods heading back to there homes. The head solider who first suggested to the men they go their own separate ways is still standing in line following the General when another of the soldiers walks over to him and says ‘I thought you were also going to leave and go back to you’re family?” He replies, “I was but now I am not sure I think I will stand by and see what comes to pass and watch out for the other men all I can.’ The other soldier says” if that is what you want, you wish good luck my friend. “Then ducks back out into the forest and disappear. The head solider thinks to him self I only hope I can save them all and the General as well from himself if nothing else. The General is so swept up in what he is feeling and thinking for Savannah that he just continues to move forward having no clue he is down to only 25 men in his company.

  Chapter 9

Meanwhile back on the plantation, The Northern General awakes from his slumber and realizes there is only two hours to go before sunrise and gets up from the couch He walks into the kitchen to find John and Lucy sitting at the table talking and having some coffee. John stands up, salutes, and says Good morning Sir. The General says morning John u can relax and sit back down. Then Lucy gets up from the table and asks the General if he would like a cup of coffee? The General replies Yes thank you Lucy that would be kind of you. Lucy goes over to the stove and begins to prepare coffee for the General and his men as well as some breakfast for them all.

The General sits at the table with John and say lets talk John. John says ok General, talk about what? The General says John do you have great confidence in this plan and battle to come with the south? John looks over at the General and says Yes Sir I do. I have always trust in William and I feel this is one battle we will win without trouble. The General says I am glad you have much faith and positively going into this and in William. The General goes on to say I to have great faith in what is to come and that the out come will be in our favor I just hope it all works out the way it should for everyone’s sake here. John says not to worry General I believe it will. Lucy returns with the General’s coffee and places it down in front of him. The General looks up at Lucy and says Thank you just what I needed. Lucy says Sir I am preparing food and coffee for your troops as well. The General says That is great thank you Lucy. He also says Can you please go and fetch my son and tell him he is needed down stairs Lucy. Lucy replies Yes Sir and heads for the stairs.

The General tells John to go and wake the men tell them in two hours the battle will begin and they need to be alert and on their guard let them also know there will be coffee and food served for them soon. John gets up from the table and says Sir I will go do that now. John leaves the house and begins to awake the other soldiers from their slumber. Meanwhile upstairs William is not a sleep He slowly removes his arm from around Savannah and slides her gently over to the other side of the bed. William gets up from the bed and walks over to the window He looks up to the sky and sees that the dawn is about to break through soon. He looks over at Savannah sleeping so peacefully on the bed, and turns back to the window.

He begins to think to himself, How do I protect her from this and herself? How do I make her understand how much I love her? How much her involvement scares me. She is a strong women but also very delicate and I do not want to see her hurt in all this. William still standing there hears a gentle tap at the door. He walks over and answers the door it is Lucy. Lucy says good morning William your father would like for you to come down to the kitchen right away. William says I wil
l be down in a moment thank you Lucy. William closes the door and walks over to the bed.

He leans over and kisses Savannah softly on her cheek. Savannah rolls over and says good morning my love. William smiles and says good morning my dear. I need to go down stairs and help my father and the others prepare for the battle I must leave you for now. Savannah looks at William and says yes go I will be fine. William’s says I wish you would just go along with our original plan then I would know you were safe. Savannah replies I will be fine. I promise nothing will happen to me I will be here when all is over and won. William leans in and kisses Savannah and says Ok then I have to go down stairs now Savannah says I will join you soon.

William walks out of the room and shuts the door behind him. Savannah lays in bed and thinks It will be fine he will see I will stay back unless I am needed and I have Lucy who will help me in anyway she can. I do worry though about this whole battle yet to come. I do not want to lose William but have to stay focus on what is to come. Savannah gets up from the bed and begins to bathe and get ready to join thee others.

Meanwhile back out on the road towards the plantation the southern general and his men are getting closer. The southern general calls for the head soldier to come up to the front. The soldier goes to where he is and says Yes General. The General says How do the other men feel about this battle to come? The soldier replies Well general to be honest men have been dropping from the line and heading back home We are down to half of our men and they stand behind you. The General gets mad WHAT!!!! Half of my troops have deserted me why did you not tell me man? The soldier replies Sir I just noticed it my self. The General stops his troop’s dead in the middle of the road and turns to them and says The next man to leave this company will not be doing so of his own free will or alive. The General turns back towards the road and tells then on ward men. The soldier still standing next to the General says, Sir Why the threat? The General says I just want them to get brave and not get to this battle with no men. We will win this you will all see. We have the upper hand in this battle. Now fall back the General says to the soldier.

The soldier falls back with thee others and tells the men the General is just trying to get them to be brave thee others agree they were feeling a bit undecided but will follow the General all the way through this battle for he has promised them a sure victory. The soldier says good. All the while, the soldier is thinking He is completely mad and they all might die in this battle. He is glad he stayed on he promises he will do all he can to not allow that to happen to these men who haven’t a clue how crazy the General has become. The General riding his horse says to him self soon my dear love soon I will be there and wipe out the Yankees and you will see how brave and strong I am by doing so and fall madly in love with me then we will wed and live life as we want to. The General smiles and continues on his journey with his men towards the plantation.

Meanwhile back on the plantation Lucy begins serving the soldiers breakfast and some coffee. As she is walking up to a bunch of men huddled together, she hears them call for her Hey Slave come here! Lucy has not been called that for many years and was a bit angry to hear the filth come their mouths but continued towards them when John comes up behind her and says No wait let me and he looks at Lucy and winks to her. John walks over to the men with their food and coffee and one of the soldiers say John what happen to the slave we called for her to bring us our food?

John looks at them and says Oh yes I heard you clearly and so did she and she has a name which is Lucy. If you want food or coffee well here it is. John throws the food and coffee to the ground. In addition, says Now eat and drink you’re coffee and food boys. Then leans into the one soldier and says If I ever again catch any of you disrespecting Lucy again in a such a manor I will horse whip you all one by one. She is a woman and should be treated as one do you soldiers understand me. They all reply Yes Sir. He also tells them they will apologies to her for their ignorance.

They look up at Lucy and say We apologies Miss for our lack of respect it will not happen again. Lucy nods her head and walks away from them going to serve thee others. John walks over to Lucy and says you ok? Lucy says yes John you did not have to do that I know that when they look at me a slave is all they see. John stops Lucy in her tracks and says Yes Lucy it might be all they see but it is not all what I see. Lucy smiles at John and begins to walk away to finish serving the troupes. John smiles and heads back to the house.

At the house, The General is having his coffee going over the battle plans once again. He walks around the table and sips his coffee just as William enters the room. William’s says good morning General I am here as you requested. The General looks up at William and says relax my boy. The General asks Did you sleep well last night William? William replies Yes father I did. The General says I have been sitting here going over your plan and I come to the conclusion it will work fine. I am glad to hear it father William replies. The General says In 20 minutes we will begin to set the troupes up in each place marked here on the layout around the plantation and within the house. Then you John and I will take our positions here and here.

The General states as he points to the places on the map of the house. William’s says Father I want to keep Savannah and Lucy safe but she isn’t willing to listen. I am very concerned for her. The General walks over to William and places his hand on his shoulder and tells him Listen my son she is a strong women and you need to have faith all will be ok we will make sure nothing happens to either of them. William nods his head and asks what can he do? The General says go out and begin to position the men and then report to me. William says Yes Sir and leaves.

As William’s leaves John passes him and says hey buddy. William says good morning John I am off to start to position the men in place. Go in and talk to the General. John says ok will do and goes into the house. John goes into the room where the General is and says Sir what can I do? The General says John this is where you William and me will stand in the house also keep an eye on Savannah and Lucy you will be their protector William and me will hold down the front if needed. I don’t want anything to happen to either of them do you understand John? John looks at the General, sees in his eyes his concern for them but also for his son, and says Yes Sir you count on me for that. Good says the General then lets start to set up our self’s in here.

Lucy finally done serving the men walks into the kitchen just as she places the last of the dishes down on the table Savannah enters the room. Good morning, Miss would you like some breakfast and coffee I have it fresh and hot? Savannah looks over at Lucy and says Yes that would be great Lucy thank you. Lucy places a plate of food and a cup of coffee in front of Savannah and sits down next to her. Lucy says Miss what troubles you, you look like you are a million miles away. Savannah says to Lucy that, I am so worried about this battle and about William. I hope all goes well Lucy I cannot imagine my life without him. I also know he worries for me as well and I want him to focus on this battle and not on me maybe I should just do as he asks and stay hidden away.

Lucy takes Savannah’s hand and says Miss I have known you since you a baby and I know you to never back down from anything but I also know the heart can change many things when it is in love. I say you must do what you feel is best and if you hide that is not being weak it is being in love and if a place arises you need to come out and join in this battle then do that as well. Miss it will all be fine you will see. The sky is blue and the air is sweet which tells me all will be ok. Savannah looks up at Lucy and says thank you dear friend I needed to hear your advice. You always know what to say to me Lucy. Lucy smiles and says now find William and let him know to stop him from worrying and come back here and we go to the secret room. Savannah nods her head yes and leaves Lucy.

As Savannah walks out the door, she spots William on his way back and walks up to him and hugs him tightly. William says what is this for? Savannah replies I love you and will go into the secret room until the battle is over as you have wished me to. William looks at
Savannah and says are you sure my love? Savannah nods her head yes. William smiles and kisses Savannah passionately. They then look at one another and head into the house. The General and John are in the kitchen with Lucy talking over the plan. Lucy and Savannah take some supply and head to the secret room.

As Savannah starts to ascend the stairs William pulls on her hand and assures her all will be well he kisses her one last time with all his being and watches her go up the stairs. As Lucy begins upstairs John tells Lucy not to worry he will be watching where they are the whole time making sure nothing happens to them. Lucy smiles and says I know you will John. They hold their eyes locked onto one another for a second and then Lucy goes up to meet Savannah at the top of the stairs. The General looks at both of them and says Ok men it is time to get into position and wait for the Southern army to arrive. They both reply Yes Sir and take their positions.

Meanwhile back out on the road toward the plantation The General is thinking how wonderful it will be to go charging in and saving Savannah from the Yankees and have Savannah run into his arms to kiss him passionately and say to him my hero. Oh yes the General says aloud. She will do just that and then when I present her with a ring to be my wife she will jump in my arms and say yes unable to resist me. The head soldier over hears what the General is saying and begins to really get worried. He thinks to him self He is getting more and more mad and obsessed with this notion of Savannah becoming his wife. These men have not a clue what they in for. I have to try to get another to help me. I am not sure I can do this all alone. Just as he says that, a soldier from the beginning of the plan to leave shows up by his side. He says I am still here with you Sir I will help in anyway I can. The head soldier says I thought you were leaving to go back to your family? The soldier replies I have no family to go back to Sir so I figure why not come and stay along and help you Sir. The head soldier says thank you soldier I am going to need all the help I can get. He looks over at the General riding along still in a daze.
