William’s father chuckles and says she is a smart women I give her that and sly as a fox you have quite a women there William. William says yes, yes I do. William goes to walk over to the door when he stops dead in his tracks and remembers what happen when he took it. He turns to his father and john and says she could be in more danger then we think. John and his father are puzzled, they look at William, and say What do you mean?
William explains Savannah gave that to me to help me sleep yes but it did not always help me to sleep most of the time I would just get hallucinations from it and toss and turn all night long. If it was not for me being unable to leave my bed during that time I do not know what could have happen I just thank god I was. I never told Savannah about it. I never figured she needed to know because she does not use it and neither do I. If she is giving it to the southern general hoping, it puts him to sleep and it does not. The Northern General say Then she could be in the greatest danger yet.
John says we will keep watch and if anything should go a Miss, we charge in and save her ok William. William says Yes ok and the three men go back to watching from behind the door. Meanwhile outside the southern army is now all gone only two men remain and they sit waiting to see the final out come of their long journey. The soldier says to the head soldier Do you wish you did leave like the rest of the men? The head soldier says yes plenty of times I wanted to leave the General. The young soldier says then why did you stay?
The head soldier says Well cause I figure I have spent all this time with him good bad and so forth and as time has gone on he has his faults and may have become ill but he is a good man and honorable man and I swore when I took this duty to protect him. The younger soldier says what about those whom left do you deem them cowards? The head soldier says no I deem them smart they knew the General was sick and seen how many had perished because of his hallucinations. They are young men like your self with families and kids and so forth waiting on their safe return I only wished they all would have left sooner. The young soldier nods his head and sits quietly watching the wind blow across the treetops.
Chapter 11
Meanwhile back in the house Lucy has been sitting on the stairs listening to all the talk and begins to sob. John can faintly hear someone crying. He taps William on the shoulder and says I will be right back I need to check something William’s says ok and john stands up and walks up the staircase. As he almost reaches the top he sees Lucy sitting there sobbing into her hands. He sits next to her, puts his arms around her, and says my dear Lucy what has you crying? Lucy say Oh john I have heard what is going on with Miss Savannah she is going to get herself killed I just know it.
That girl thinks before she leaps and she feels she can take on anything but she forgets she is just as frail as a butter fly and now she gone done this. I fear for her life John. John holds Lucy closer and says Shhhhhh…now, now Lucy do you think me, William and his father would really let anything happen to Savannah? Lucy replies through her sniffles No. There see says John we wont I promise you. Lucy says what if something goes wrong John holds her even tighter now and say to her My dear Lucy I promise on my own life no harm will come to Savannah then John takes his hand and lifts Lucy face to meet his and goes on to say or you.
Lucy smiles and stops crying. Lucy says Oh John I know and I believes you. John says good girl Now I must get back to helping William and his dad protecting Savannah you go back into the secret room and wait there ok where you are safe. Lucy wipes her eyes, says ok John, gets up off the stair, and begins her way back to the secret room. John goes back to William and his father. William asks John is everything ok? John replies Yes things are fine now just had to put Lucy’s mind at ease about all this. William says I wish you could put all our minds at ease about this. The Northern General says Don’t worry boy’s this will all end well and soon.
Meanwhile back in the living room Savannah and The Southern General are having tea on the couch. The Southern General says to Savannah My dear I love your tea and I love this cat and mouse game we are playing but the time has come to answer my question. Savannah puts down her cup of tea upon the table and looks over at the General. Savannah says Oh General what would having me answer now do? Should I not be aloud to think all this over? The Southern General is looking at Savannah but is starting to feel dizzy. He shakes his head and says Savannah I can no longer wait I want an answer now from you.
Savannah gets up and walks over to the window and says Well General My answer is…is.. just then the Southern General gets up from the couch and goes over to Savannah and grabs her by the arm he says No more games I don’t care what you’re answer is you will be my wife as you should be. Savannah tries to brake free from the Generals grip but is not able to he continues to apply pressure to her wrist. The Southern general says you will come with me and we shall be wed. Savannah says No I shall no marry you now if you wish my hand in marriage then you can wait until sunset for it.
The Southern General stops for a moment, looks at Savannah, and says why at sunset. Savannah replies I always wanted a sunset wedding and I think it would be magical. The Southern General now feeling woozy lets go of Savannah and says fine I shall go lay down and post my men outside you’re door and I shall return to you at sunset for our marriage. Savannah says you do that General I shall see you then My husband to be. The Southern General stumbles to the door and opens it to leave. The head soldier sees him and says General are you ok? Yes, Yes The southern general replies I just feel a bit tired from the journey and I must rest for tonight at sunset I wed the beautiful Savannah. The two soldiers are looking puzzled but they grab the southern general’s arms and lead him to camp to lie down.
As the door closes behind them, John William and his father come into the room. Savannah what are you up to the southern general was almost out cold we could of taken him then? William says. Savannah looks at William and says I gave him sleeping dust so you could capture him I did not think he would want to leave. Nevertheless, since he is gone this just makes it much easier to fool him and capture him. The three men look at one another then at Savannah puzzled and The Northern General asks what is you’re plan my dear. Savannah says Well if you look outside what is missing? John walks up to the window and peeks out and sees nothing He says I see nothing Savannah. Savannah replies you are right john nothing he hasn’t any men out there except the two who took him back to his camp.
How can you be so sure of that Savannah The Southern General says. Savannah says ask your men to look around and report to you I am willing to bet there is not anyone out there. The Northern General tells John to go get a scout and we explain to him what to do and report to him right away. John says yes General and walks out of the room. William walks over to Savannah my dear are sure of this I don’t want to alarm you but just as he is about to tell Savannah of what happens with the sleeping dust his father steps in and says we don’t want to alarm you that Lucy is upset and needs to talk to you right away. Savannah says I shall go talk to Lucy and calm her fears she kisses William and walks out of the room to go up and talk to Lucy.
William says to his father Why did you stop me from telling her about the side effects I had to the sleeping dust? William’s father replies she thinks she knows what’s to come and that is what is giving her strength and courage if we tell her she may worry and mess up and put herself at danger We need her to stay focused so we can protector trust me son on this. William thinks about it for a moment and says ok I will go along with this father. John walks back into the room with news to report. General Sir The scout has checked around all the Southern Generals men have left him and he stands alone with only the two soldiers you see with him. The Northern General says She was right well this just got a lot easier for us. William and John look at one another and both says How is that Sir? The Northern General says Here let me explain it to you boys.
Meanwhile The Southern General is now laying down in his tent and the head solider is saying Sir you sure she is to marry you this evening a
t dusk. The Southern General says of course I am sure soldier she said so herself. The younger soldier says That is wonderful news for you Sir. The Southern General says Yes Soldier it is as he rolls on his side to fall a sleep. The head soldier says shhhh lets leave him to sleep now. They both walk outside and sit on the tree stumps near the fire. The head soldier says I do not like this at all.
Why asks the young soldier. Because why would she says yes to him I do not get it, she was not interested in him when we first came to her plantation. The young soldier says you just worry too much maybe she reconsider. The head soldier says I hope so for all our sakes. He still cannot shake the feeling something is not right. They lean over the fire and begin to make supper for them self’s.
Back in the house, Savannah goes up the stairs to the secret room where Lucy is sitting and waiting. Savannah opens the door and Lucy jumps up from the bed Oh Miss Savannah I’s so worried about you she says with tears streaming down her face. Lucy hugs Savannah so tightly and says I cant wait till this be over and you are safe I don’t feel you safe in all this I wouldn’t know what to do if I lost you Miss Please tell me you aren’t going back down there. Savannah hugs Lucy tightly and say Shhh, Shhh its ok Lucy all is ok I am here now. Let’s sit down on the cot here. Lucy and Savannah sit upon the cot and Savannah hands Lucy a hank a chief to dry her eyes with Lucy says Thank Savannah.
Savannah says Lucy I would never do anything to put my self in harms way or leave you. You mean the world to me Lucy. I love you for worrying about me but with William his father and John watching and protecting me there is no need to worry. I promise you Lucy I will be fine. Lucy looks up at Savannah and says Miss I have watched you grown since you be a child and I do not want to be the one to burry you. Please be careful. Savannah puts her arm around Lucy and says My dear Lucy you wont have to. You trust William and John don’t you? Lucy nods her head yes. Savannah says well then there you go. I have noticed the way you and John look at one another Lucy Savannah smiles. Lucy says Yes Miss he is a sweet man and has been very kind to me.
Savannah says Well I think he likes you just as much as you like him Lucy. Lucy blushes and says Oh hush now Miss he does not. How about William and you, Miss? How are the two of you holding up? Savannah says Well I am doing ok but I feel William is having a hard time watching me do this and wants me to do nothing but hide here with you. Lucy says Smart man you have there. Savannah looks at Lucy with a smirk I know but you know why I do this Lucy Savannah states. Lucy replies Yes I do child and I will sit here and put my faith in those men. Savannah says good now you rest and I shall return soon I promise. Lucy lies down upon the cot and Savannah dims the light of the oil lamp, kisses Lucy on the forehead, and walks out of the secret room. She stands in the hall for a moment and thinks I hope I have not lied to Lucy and I hope all this is over soon.
Meanwhile back down stairs the men have come to a plan of action. The Northern General says Now there isn’t any men outside except the two we have seen. This is not going to be hard at all. When the General comes back here at sunset we let him and Savannah begin their evening and once again be on our guard watching them. First sign of trouble we move in. William jumps in and says He will not let Savannah marry him. John says of course she will not, we won’t let her either. Once they begin to start the ceremony, are relaxed, focused on that we come out, and seize him and his two soldiers. William says that is fine with him. Then we agree says his father. Yes answer John and William.
The Northern General says ok then let us get some rest for now. William says I am going to go find Savannah and check up on her. John says I shall stand watch here while you rest Sir. The Northern General goes over to William and places his hand on his shoulder and says My son you need not worry I promise this will work out the way we have planned. William says I believe it will to father. William walks out of the room and begins to go look for Savannah. The Northerner General goes to lie down and says to John we will not fail at this. John nods his head yes and sits watch from the doorway.
Out side the two soldiers have finished dinner and it is still day light. The head soldier gets up and goes to check on the General. He comes back and says to the young soldier The General is having some strange drams I can hear him speaking to Savannah but it is almost as if he is threatening her. The young soldier eyes widen and he says Are you sure, I thought he loved her? The head soldier says he does that is what is puzzling me. I know the General has been ill but could he be so ill he could harm his true love. The young soldier says should we warm Savannah of this.
The head soldier says No he is just dreaming maybe it is just pre marriage jitters. We will keep an eye on him and make sure all goes well and is peaceful. The head soldier says get some rest for it will be a long evening when sun sets. The young soldier nods his yes and lies upon his brush of leaves with one blanket. The head soldier once again walks over to the Southern general’s tenet and listens to his nightmares. He quietly walks back over to the tree stumps and sits down to pour a cup of coffee. He sips his coffee and says I hope all he is having is nightmares and they do not come to life. I will not let that happen. I might be here to protect him but I shall protect Savannah first if it comes to it.
Back inside the house, Savannah walks from the secret room to her own room down the hall. She opens the door and looks around the room. She goes over to her mirror and sits down in the chair. She looks into the mirror, puts her hands to her eyes, and begins to sob softly into her hands. She does not know if this is all going to work out and she does not want to show she is scared. She knows she believes and trusts in William to protect her but she still is scared for everyone.
She pulls out a white hank a chief and wipes her eyes. She stands up, walks over to the window, and looks out upon her land. She begins to remember how she first met William and how she cared for him and how wonderful he is. She remembers their first touch when she helped him to the bathroom and how she loved to bath him. She closes her eyes and can feel his body next to hers. She takes a deep breath, opens her eyes, and continues to stand in the window looking out over her land in deep thought.
Back downstairs William enters the kitchen and begins to head up the stairs to the secret room. He opens the sliding panel and looks in to find Lucy a sleep on the cot but no Savannah. He gets a bit worried. He closes the panel softly and begins to go down the hall to Savannah’s room. He slowly opens the door to see Savannah standing in the window. William remembers the first time he seen her standing there The way the sun glistened off her beautiful hair the way it made her skin look like an angel.
He slowly walked up behind Savannah and put his arms around her. Savannah turned and hugged William tightly and began to sob again. William holds her tight and says What is wrong my love? Savannah sniffles and replies I am scared William. I am not sure this is all right and this is going to work out. I do not want anyone to get hurt cause of this plan and I do not want to lose you. William continues to hold Savannah and says Oh my love I know in my heart all will turn out ok and you could never lose me I will always be in you’re heart.
Savannah looks up into William’s eyes and says You always know how to make me feel safe and better. William says I would die for you before I would see harm come to you. Do you trust me? Savannah says Yes My love I do. William says Then no more tears and no more worries it will all be ok I promise. Savannah and William embrace in a passionate kiss. William lifts Savannah off her feet and brings her over to the bed slowly laying her body upon the bed. He lays upon her kissing her deeply.
He then begins to slowly move his hands caressing every curve her body. He then begins to slowly kiss her neck and she lets out a soft whisper of a moan. Savannah begins to move her hands over William’s strong back and arms pulling him into her. He sits up and begins to slowly undress Savannah inch by inch. Savannah begins to undress William inch by inch. They smile at one another softly and William places Savannah back down onto the bed he runs his hand up her leg to her inner thigh slowly and beg
ins to caress her mound with his finger tips Savannah softly moans at his touch.
William begins to slowly gently play with Savannahs wet hole slowly moving his hand around the outside feeling her wet juices while he watches Savannah’s body move to each feel.
