Visions (Dragon Reign Book 7) Page 18

by Kit Bladegrave

“First, I must thank you for saving me from Baladon,” she told him, bowing her head. “And second, I have been sent down to you by the gods, to help you prepare.”

  My gut twisted in apprehension.

Forrest asked the question on all our minds. “Prepare?”

She nodded. “For the final battle. The time has come to destroy the darkness, and I fear you are running out of time, Forrest, King of Gregornath. You all are running out of time.”

So much for having a few days to celebrate a small victory.

The Keeper of the Gateway to the Gods turned to face me next.

At first, I was taken aback by her intense stare, but then the words of the riddle that had toyed with me since the day I read the words played through my mind, drowning out all other sounds, and I knew I’d been right to think she was part of ending this darkness.

“A beast so fierce with eyes of the sky, a secret hidden away from time, a guiding light...at her prime,” I whispered

Tristan frowned. “What are you saying?”

“I think… I think I just figured out how to save the realms.”

But then the woman turned her back to me, and I was left with a hollow feeling deep in my chest.

Whatever Mori’s purpose, it was damned clear our hardest battle was waiting for us on the horizon. All I could do was pray to the gods we just rescued that this one would be the last and in the end, we’d all walk away. Alive.

I hope you enjoyed Visions! I can’t wait to bring you the next book in this series!
