“That’s why I came in to see if you were okay, I saw your car parked in the same spot that it was when I left you here last night and I wanted to make sure you were ok.” She offered lamely. “Now that I see you are fine, I’m going to run back home for a moment, I remembered that I’d forgotten my briefcase.” Tammy turned quickly and exited the room before Ethan could say anything else.
“Well that was weird,” Ethan muttered.
Regina shook her head and laughed, the man didn’t have a clue. “Honey that woman has it bad for you, she came here early hoping to join you in bed and when she found the bed empty, she was going to join you in the shower, but you weren’t alone so she came up with the lame excuse about wanting to make sure you were okay.”
Ethan shook his head laughing, “Gina you can’t seriously you think Tammy is interested in me like that. She’s worked for me for almost as long as this restaurant has been opened,” he stated laughing.
Regina only shook her head and smiled, her man really was blind where women were concerned and he had no idea of his appeal to women.
“Okay then can you explain to me why she is showing up here at six thirty in the morning when the restaurant doesn’t open until four in the afternoon and your first shift comes on at two in the afternoon. I suppose she was just driving by for an early morning meeting and just happen to swing by and see your car, which is in the parking garage, sitting in the same spot.”
Ethan frowned as he mulled over everything that Regina had just said, “There is no way she could believe that anything would happen between us. I…wow I can’t believe she would even entertain the idea. I know I’ve never given her any reason to believe that there will be anything other than a working relationship between us.”
“I know you haven’t encouraged anything and I know that you never would,” she admitted slipping her arms around his waist. “Now I suggest we get dressed so that we can get out of here I’m starving.”

“Honey I should be back in about two to three hours. After we are done at the supply store and then we are going to go by the school and start setting up our classes,” she gave him a kiss before she followed Roz out the door.
“Man I thought Eric and I had it bad, but you and Ethan almost have us beat. The only difference is that we are married and you two aren’t.” Regina glared over at her friend. “Why are you glaring at me? It’s not like I’m lying. Hell the two of you are practically living in two houses. I wish you guys would decide on which house you are going to stay in, hell I was at your place ringing the doorbell for a good twenty minutes before I came over to Ethan’s.”
“Well until Ethan tells me that he wants something more permanent we will continue to live as we are now.”
“Regina, why are you waiting on him to decide on something permanent, why don’t you demand on it? Hell I know I got tired of it when Eric and I were dating,” Roz glanced over at her and seeing the stony look on her face she knew that she was wasting her time. She hid her smile, because she’d been the same way when she and Eric were dating and she knows just like Regina, she held the same attitude until Eric had proposed.

“Hey when are you going to talk to Regina about the house you’re having built?” Eric asked as he sat out on the back deck with Ethan drinking a beer.
“I was going to tonight, but what I think I’m going to do is just take her by there tomorrow.”
“Is that where you are going to ask her to marry you, or are you going to be a dumb ass and suggest you guys live together?”
Ethan cut his eyes at his best friend, hating that he’d actually thought about doing just that. “If that was the case then we could stay where we are living out of two houses. I just have to…”Ethan took a swallow of beer trying to wash away the dryness of his throat. “I just have to work up the nerve to ask her. I know I have to do it soon, but every time I think I’m ready to ask her, this big ball of fire sits in the pit of my stomach and I can’t do it. I keep seeing me going down on one knee and stuttering through my proposal and then she tells me it’s been wonderful, but her feelings just aren’t that deep enough for that kind of commitment.”
Eric stared at his best friend, his eyes filled with disbelief, “You really are terrified that she doesn’t love you as deeply as you love her.” There was no way Eric could disguise the humor in his voice.
“I am happy that you can find humor at my expense.” Ethan snapped.
“I’m sorry Ethan it’s just that I remember how you ragged me when I was going through the same thing with Roz. Now here we are full circle and I’m sitting where you were and you’re where I was and it just strikes me as funny. I distinctly remember warning you that I would enjoy it when the tables were turned on you. You just laughed and laughed.”
Ethan sighed deeply waiting for his friend to get it over his laughter trying not to let the laughing get to him, remembering how much hell he’d given Eric when he’d been in the same spot with Roz. “Okay smart ass you’ve had your laugh. Now tell me what made you swallow that fear and ask Roz to marry you?” Ethan demanded.
“You want to know what pushed me to finally pop the question?” Ethan nodded. “Well my friend I’ll tell you what it was…single fathers.” Ethan stared at his friend as if he’d lost his mind. Eric chuckled seeing his friend’s confusion. “One day I went to pick Roz up from school because her car was in the shop. I got there a little early and went to her class. I saw all these different colored roses littering her classroom and I knew that I hadn’t sent them to her. So for a while I offered to take her to work and I’d walk her to class and just hang in there for a little bit before heading to the office. I felt this huge rush of release when I saw this kid bringing the rose to the classroom and handing it to her, but my relief slipped a notch when I heard the kid say that his dad hoped that she liked the flower.”

“You are right, one kid with one message is no big deal, but before I left about ten more kids had brought in a rose with messages from their dads. When I came to pick her up that afternoon, each one of those fathers were in her classroom making eyes at my woman. Chapter 22
Ethan turned from the stove just as Regina walked into the kitchen and let out a loud whistle. His mind filled with Eric’s story and he could only imagine all of the single dads that would be sending roses to Regina.

Regina smiled and walked over to give him a deep kiss.
“What time will you be home from the restaurant?” Regina asked as she sat down and started in on the breakfast Ethan had prepared.
“I figured I should be home about the same time since I usually pick the girls up from school for Madeline.”
“Honey I can bring the girls home with me, it only makes sense that I pick them up and they can go with me to the center. You know how much they like to join in on the dance class.”
“Okay then I’ll see the three of you when you get home and I’ll have dinner ready for you.”
Regina was really happy and excited about her class the kids were just as excited and ready to learn. Regina watched as her three little helpers made sure that all the toys were put away while they waited on the last child to be picked up. Regina looked up when there was a knock on the door.
“Hi, I’m Jim Thomas and I’m Tommy’s father. I apologize for being late, but I got caught in a late meeting.”
“Oh it’s not a problem Mr. Thomas. Tommy helped us get the room ready for tomorrow.”

“No, they are going with me.”
“Daddy, Ms. Regina teaches ballet at the community center” Jimmy informed his father.

Regina walked up to him and gave him a kiss. “I’m fine, just a little tired. I’m really glad that today is Friday, I’m coming home and taking a nap.”
“Gina, did you forget that you have open house tonight?” He laughed when she groaned, “I’m sure you already have everything set up for tonight, why don’t you come home and I’ll drive you back in time for open house.”
“Oh that sounds like a perfect idea and that is exactly what I’m going to do. I’ll see you around two for my nap,” she gave him another kiss and headed out of the kitchen.
