  Mika smiled giddily.

He smiled back. “I’m glad you enjoyed it.”

“I truly did, now it’s my turn,” Mika said, once she recovered. “Lie on your back.”

Blaine did as instructed. Mika picked up the bowl and slowly poured the remaining contents over his chest, abdomen and manhood. She then licked every inch of his body, stopping in intervals to savor the sweet chocolate. She took his erection in her mouth and sucked the decadent confection until there wasn’t a single drop left.

“Hold on a second,” he said, stopping her before he came.

Blaine stood up, crossed the room and retrieved a condom from his toiletry bag. He strolled back over to the bearskin rug and lay beside her. He then stroked her soft cheek. “You’re so beautiful.”

  Mika blushed. “Thank you.”

“Turn over on your back,” he whispered. Blaine then covered her body with his. He rubbed his manhood against her clit, teasing her all over again.

Mika spread her thighs, welcoming him inside. Blaine lovingly held her head as he rotated his hips against her groin. Their sticky limbs were intertwined, her legs were wrapped around his waist, and his arms held her tight as they slowly and passionately made love.

“Now, that’s what I call dessert,” he said, hugging her closer.

They slept on the bearskin rug that night in total bliss, cradled in each other’s arms, the crackling of the burning wood lulling them to sleep. Mika thought this was the perfect beginning to what was sure to be a romantic getaway.

  Chapter Eleven

The following morning, Blaine and Mika awoke early. The logs were no longer aglow, however their afterglow of lovemaking was ever present. Blaine had an appointment with the potential buyer for his mother’s condo, but he didn’t want to leave Mika. He was still reeling from the previous evening of seduction, from the liquid chocolate to the cozy fireplace to the plush, bearskin rug.

“Can you come here, please?” he yelled from the bathroom.

While Mika was placing dishes in the dishwasher from their breakfast, Blaine was busy in the bathroom creating a romantic scene. He had run a bath with lavender-scented bubbles. He found candles underneath the sink, which he placed around the large Jacuzzi tub and lit them. He turned off the lights, so that the room was bathed in candlelight.

“Wow, what have we here?” she exclaimed, coming into the bathroom.

“After a night of smearing our bodies with chocolate, I think we need a proper cleansing,” he said, sitting on the edge of the tub naked.

A broad smile painted Mika’s face, as her eyes took in his muscular body. “Oh, you do, do you?”

“Yep.” He reached out his hand to her. “Come here.”

Mika moved toward him. When she was within inches, Blaine untied her robe and gave it a soft tug, causing the silk fabric to glide off her body onto the marble floor. He stood up, stepped into the tub and held her hand as she did the same.

“Mmm, this water is so warm,” she said, sliding into the tub.

Blaine settled in behind her, straddling his long legs around Mika’s body. He then took a large sponge, which was floating in the bubbles, and began rubbing her skin.

“Ohh, that feels good,” she moaned, leaning back onto his chest.

“You deserve to be pampered after making a delicious dinner and a special dessert last night.”

  “I’m glad you enjoyed it.”

“Enjoy is an understatement. I loved licking the liquid chocolate off of your body, and you devouring the decadent sweetness off of mine. Believe it or not, I’ve never done anything like that before.”

“Neither have I. Even though I’ve created countless recipes for liquid chocolate, that was the first time I used it while making love. It was divine, but afterward we were a sweet, sticky mess.”

“Now I get a chance to clean off what my tongue missed.”

“I like the way that sounds,” she said.

Blaine poured liquid soap on the sponge, and lathered her body, rubbing her arms, legs, back and chest. Once she was clean, he released the sponge, took two handfuls of bubbles and began massaging Mika’s breasts. He let his hands slide over her nipples while softly kneading them. Once they firmed to his touch, he moved his hands slowly down her stomach and in between her legs. He parted her thighs and found her pleasure point. Blaine rubbed her softness until she began moaning with pleasure. He added a little pressure and increased the pace of his fingers.

  Mika closed her eyes.

“Hearing you moan really turns me on.”

Mika eased her legs open as far as the tub would allow. “And your fingers on my clit really turns me on.”

“I can’t seem to get enough of you.”

He increased the pace of his fingers. “That’s a good thing.” Blaine eased two fingers inside of her, while stroking her small piece of the pinkness. He wanted to please her and didn’t stop until he heard her panting.

  “I’m coming. I’m coming.”

Blaine gave her a few more strokes, ensuring that she was completely satisfied.

“Wow! That was amazing. This gives taking a bath a whole new meaning,” she said, opening her eyes.

“Just call me the Cleanup Man,” he joked.

After their bath was over and they were dressed, they sat at the kitchen counter drinking coffee, savoring their last few minutes together.

“I hate to leave, but I have to meet the potential buyer at my mom’s condo,” Blaine told her.

“No worries. I need to stop by the Ski Shop and pick up my skis. I can’t wait to try them out.”

“Don’t hit the slopes without me. I’m dying to see your skills on the mountain. The appointment shouldn’t take long. Why don’t you meet me at my mom’s after you get your skis?”

  “Okay. Sounds good.”

Blaine gave her the unit number, kissed her goodbye and headed over to his mother’s condo.

Mrs. Chess’s unit was bigger and more grandiose than the one Mika was renting. The living room had picture windows that faced the snow-covered mountains. From that vantage point, skiers in brightly colored skiwear could be seen crisscrossing the slopes. The gourmet kitchen was equipped with Sub-Zero and Viking appliances. Lifelike silk roses in crystal vases accented every room of the condo, and Persian rugs decorated the blond wood flooring.

Blaine went into the master suite, put his duffel bag on the king-size sleigh bed and unpacked. He made his way to the expansive closet and chose a black, plum and white Descente ski jacket and a pair of black ski pants, with a plum turtleneck. No sooner had he changed clothes the the doorbell rang.

“Must be the buyer,” he said out loud, as he made his way to the living room and opened the door.

  “Hey, there!”

“Uh... Ashley, what are you doing here?” Blaine asked with shock registering in his voice. She was the last person he expected to see.

Ashley nearly bounced into the room, wearing a Black Diamond full-length mink coat, and carrying a brown checkered Louis Vuitton tote.

“How did you know I was here? Oh, wait... My mother told you.” Blaine watched as Ashley strutted into the living room, settled on the sofa and made herself at home.

“Yes, Mrs. Chess told me that she put the condo up for sale, and I’m in the market for a winter property. My divorce settlement left me well-off and I can more than afford the asking price,” she offered without any prodding from Blaine.

“So you’re telling me you’re the potential buyer that I’m supposed to meet?” Blaine asked, astounded. He had half a mind to call his mother right then and there, but what was the use?

“Yep, I’m the buyer. Aren’t you going to show me around?”

“Are you serious? Ashley, we both know you’re not interested in buying this
place. You only came here to see me.” Blaine was upset that his mother had manipulated him.

“Okay, it’s true that I wanted to see you again. We hardly had a chance to talk at the party. You disappeared shortly after our first dance. But you’re wrong, I am interested in buying this place. Vail is so beautiful year-round and it would make the perfect second home.” She stood up. “So give me the tour.”

Blaine exhaled. He knew there was no arguing with Ashley, besides the quicker he showed her around, the quicker she could leave. He began walking toward the kitchen, with Ashley following closely behind, nearly stepping on his heels. “As you can see, all the appliances are high-end, including the wine fridge.”

Ashley opened the well-stocked minirefrigerator, took out a bottle of Veuve Clicquot and set it on the white quartz countertop.

“What are you doing?” he asked, watching her open the champagne.

  “Let’s have a toast.”

“A toast for what? We have nothing to celebrate.”

Ashley opened an overhead cabinet. “Where are the glasses?” Before Blaine could answer, she opened another cabinet and found crystal champagne flutes. She poured them each a glass, and handed one to Blaine. “Come on, have a drink with an old friend.”

Blaine reluctantly took a quick sip and set his glass on the counter, before continuing the tour. He had no intention of drinking the entire bottle of champagne with Ashley. He wanted to give her the tour and then show her the door. He had plans with Mika and wasn’t going to break them for Ashley’s sake. “The unit has three guest rooms, each with its own bath. All of the bedrooms have fireplaces, and...”

“Where’s the master suite?” Ashley asked, interrupting him.

  “Down the hall.”

When they reached the bedroom, Ashley brushed past him and walked in first. Blaine turned his back to click on the light, but when he turned around Ashley was nowhere in sight. “Hey, where are you?” he called out.

  “I’m in the bathroom.”

Blaine exhaled. He wanted the tour to be over. He stood near the doorway and waited. The minutes ticked by, but Ashley hadn’t come out of the bathroom. He walked over and tapped on the door.

“Hey, are you all right in there?”

“Yes, I’m fine. I’ll be out in a minute.”

  “Okay.”

Blaine went over to the window and looked out at the snow-covered mountains. He was anticipating skiing with Mika and was anxious to leave. Suddenly he felt a tap on his shoulder and turned around.

  “What...the...?”

Ashley was standing in the buff, with the fur coat draped around her shoulders wearing only a pair of thigh-high red suede boots.

“I want you, more than you know,” she said, dropping the coat to the floor and moving closer to him. She then wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a deep French before he had the chance to protest.

  “Blaine!”

He broke from Ashley’s embrace and whipped his head around. Mika was standing in the doorway with her mouth agape.

“Mika, it’s not what you think. This is Ashley, an old friend,” he said, stepping away from Ashley and toward Mika.

“Oh, and you kiss all of your friends while they’re naked, wearing sexy boots!” Mika exclaimed, staring at Ashley as she spoke.

“I wasn’t kissing her. She was kissing me,” Blaine tried to explain.

“That’s not what it looks like to me. You didn’t have to lie and say you were meeting a buyer. Have fun with your—” Mika put her hands up in quotation marks “—friend. Goodbye, Blaine.” Mika made a swift exit.

“Is that your girlfriend?” Ashley asked.

“Yes.” Although Blaine hadn’t officially asked Mika to be his girl, he felt as if they had committed themselves by their actions.

“Not anymore, I’m sure. Not after what she just walked in on,” Ashley said, a sly smile spreading across her face.

“Nothing happened and nothing is going to happen between us. Please put on your coat and leave before I return,” he said stridently.

Ashley reluctantly picked her mink coat off the floor and threw it around her shoulders.

Before Blaine gathered his ski jacket and left, he called a car service for Ashley with explicit instructions to take her directly to the airport. He hoped to find Mika so that he could explain. He didn’t want to lose her over a silly misunderstanding.

  Chapter Twelve

Snowflakes drifted from the sky as Mika wandered aimlessly through town. Vail Village was crowded with people browsing in and out of the quaint shops, and skiers carrying skis over their shoulders on their way to the lifts. Mika roamed without a destination, with her mind a ball of confusion. Blaine had said, It’s not what you think. However, from what Mika saw before she busted Blaine—a bottle of champagne and two flutes sitting on the kitchen counter—it was exactly what she suspected. Blaine was on the verge of bedding another woman, shortly after he had made love to her. The thought sickened her. Mika couldn’t believe how gullible she had been, thinking that he was single and free. Blaine was obviously in a relationship and had lied to Fritz.

Just when I totally open myself up without reservation, reality slaps me in the face, she thought as a single tear dripped down her cheek. Mika sniffled and wiped her face with the back of her hand. She was really enjoying Blaine and couldn’t believe what a liar he turned out to be. The sadness she was feeling slowly began dissipating as anger and resentment took its place. Mika had a good mind to return to Blaine’s condo and give him an earful, but she refrained. Instead, she took out her cell phone and called her business partner.

“Delicious Chocolate Bar, Fritz speaking. How may I help you?”

“You can help by never, I mean never, fixing me up again!” Mika ranted into the phone the second he picked up.

  “Mika? Is that you?”

  “Yes, it’s me!”

“What’s wrong? Why are you shouting? Is everything all right?” Fritz asked with concern in his voice.

“No, everything is all wrong!” Suddenly the onslaught of tears that she was trying to hold back came flooding out with a vengeance.

“Calm down and tell me what happened.”

Mika found a coffee shop, went inside and took a seat by the window. She took a deep breath and told Fritz the entire story, from the airplane scare, to making love on the plane, to the morning after, to catching Blaine red-handed with another woman.

“How did you get into his condo?”

“When I reached the unit the door was ajar. I knocked but there was no answer. Blaine had told me to meet him there, so I just walked in, and that’s when I caught him and his so-called friend.”

“Oh, wow! I can’t believe he would lead you on like that. But are you sure he’s not telling the truth? Maybe the other woman was just a friend like he said.”

“I seriously doubt it. You should have seen her standing there naked, pressing her body against his and kissing him as if they were long-lost lovers. I can’t get that image out of my head.”

“Oh, sweetie, I’m so sorry. I just knew he was the one for you. What are you going to do now? Are you coming back home?”

“No. I’m going to try and enjoy my vacation. I would go skiing, but I left my skis right outside of his door. I can’t bear the thought of running into Blaine and his lady again,” she said, sounding forlorn.

“Why don’t you call the Ski Shop and ask if they can deliver a new pair of skis?”

“That’s a good idea. Fritz, thanks for listening. I had to call and vent. I feel better now.”

As they were talking Mika heard a beep in her ear. She looked at the phone’s display. She didn’t recognize the number and kept talking without clicking over.

“I’m glad. Instead of staying in alone tonig
ht, why don’t you treat yourself to a nice dinner? You deserve to pamper yourself after the ordeal you’ve been through.”

“I really don’t feel like going out tonight. Suppose I run into them? It would be awkward to see Blaine with another woman so soon after we were intimate.”

“So what if you do? You don’t have anything to feel bad about, you simply gave in to your feelings for him, there’s nothing wrong with following your instincts. Hold your head high and keep it moving.”

Fritz’s words of encouragement were exactly what Mika needed to hear. “You’re absolutely right! Thanks again, Fritz, for being such a good friend.”

“Don’t mention it. I’ll always be here for you. And I promise, no more setups, no matter how many single good-looking men come into the shop,” Fritz said with a giggle, trying to lighten her mood.

“Now, that’s a deal. I’ll see you in a few days.”

  “Okay, and remember, head high.”

  “Okay. Bye, Fritz.”

When Mika hung up, she ordered a bowl of soup and a cup of herbal tea. The warm liquids helped to calm her even more. She sat in the café and people-watched as the snow began coming down faster. Through the glistening white flakes she caught a glimpse of a couple strolling arm in arm, laughing and talking, seemingly in love. A knot formed in Mika’s throat, and she fought back tears as she mourned the future she could have had with Blaine.

  Chapter Thirteen

After Blaine had called the car service for Ashley, he dialed Mika’s number but got her voice mail. Blaine didn’t bother to leave a message. He preferred to speak to her in person, instead of groveling on a recording. When he left his mother’s condo, he noticed a pair of skis propped against the wall. These are probably Mika’s. She left so fast, that she forgot them, he thought. Blaine picked up the skis, threw them over his shoulder and went across the complex to her condo. He knocked on the door and waited, but she didn’t answer. He knocked several more times but there was still no answer. He put the skis by the door and jetted off to find Mika. Obviously, she wasn’t on the slopes, so he decided to check out the shops in the Village.
