The Hook Up (First Impressions) Page 21

by Tawna Fenske

She held up her iPhone camera, tilting it to the side as she tried to get the right angle. “Okay, you guys,” she said. “Say cheese.”

“Cheeeese!” Henry said, tilting his chin up the way he always did in family photos. His glasses were crooked, and there was a faint hint of grape Popsicle around his mouth. Ty glanced at his own shirt, realizing he’d already managed to amass a bit of baby slobber on his collar.

Ellie looked down at her iPhone, thumb sliding over the screen as she scrolled through the pictures. “We might have to do a retake later,” she said, tucking a strand of blond hair behind one ear as she met Ty’s eyes again. “Maybe when everyone’s cleaned up and looking their best.”

Ty shook his head and gazed down at his daughter, smiling as she made a face he suspected had something to do with poop.

“No,” he said, shifting a little to let Henry snuggle closer against his chest. The boy peered at his baby sister while Ty looked up at his wife and grinned. “It’s perfect already. No editing required.”

  Acknowledgments

I’m eternally grateful to fans of the First Impressions series who’ve read the previous two books voraciously enough to land the first one on the USA Today bestseller list. You guys are what keeps me writing on days I think it might be easier to give up the author gig and become a professional sasquatch hunter.

So much love and thanks to my critique partners and beta readers, including Linda Grimes, Kait Nolan, and Cynthia Reese. I’m also super-grateful to my assistant (aka Wonder Girl Ass) Meah Cukrov for all your work keeping me organized and on track.

Though I already dedicated this book to Fenske’s Frisky Posse, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention my awesome street team again because you guys rock so hard you make me seasick. Thank you for talking up my books, leaving reviews, and generally making me feel like a rock star (minus the cocaine habit and pink hair).

Huge thanks to Liz Pelletier of Entangled Publishing for taking me from, “Meh, I like this book just fine,” to “OHMYGOD I can’t wait for everyone to read it!” You’ve done so much to fine-tune my writing, and I’m excited for our next project together. Thanks also to Jessica Turner, Melanie Smith, Heather Riccio, Christine Chhun, Bridget O’Tooole, and anyone else on the Entangled team who I might have inadvertently forgotten here. Love you guys!

As always, I’m so thankful to have Michelle Wolfson of Wolfson Literary Agency on my team (and I’m grateful it’s not a basketball team, since we’d both suck at that). Thanks for keeping my career on track and being my number one advocate and partner.

Thank you to my stepkids, Cedar and Violet, for doing all kinds of adorable stuff to inspire the things that come out of Henry’s mouth in this story. You guys are the best!

I owe an extra-big debt of gratitude to my husband, Craig Zagurski, for not only inspiring a video producer hero, but for all your tireless work on promotional content for all my books. I’m so glad we’re in this together, hot stuff. Love you!
