  CHAPTER ONE

Never had Olivia seen so many people in her apartment. Coworkers of Emily’s and Olivia’s were there, along with some of Isaac’s friends, and their mutual friends. Olivia didn’t know anyone there except for a couple of her coworkers. Typically, she would have been completely uncomfortable and perhaps would have snuck away to her room, but Olivia was content with Gabriel being there at her side. The couple stood a little to the side, being friendly but not mingling too much. Gabriel was silent but not standoffish. He just stood with Olivia, his arm around her.

They were all there to celebrate Emily and Isaac’s engagement. Honestly, it was about time. The two had been together for what felt like forever, and they were just the perfect match. Olivia was so happy for them. They were so in love, and it just warmed her heart to know her friend truly found the love of her life. All of their friends rallied around them to celebrate their love. Champagne and beer were plentiful as they toasted to their engagement.

As the evening continued, Olivia noticed some of the guests staring at her and Gabriel. She would feel eyes on them and then when she looked up, she would see people averting their eyes. Why were they staring?

Olivia looked over Gabriel and herself. They were presentable, she felt like. They hadn’t spilled anything on themselves, and they weren’t intoxicated. Some small portion of her worried that they suspected something was ‘wrong’ with Gabriel as if they knew he was a vampire. It worried her, unsure what they would do if someone found out. Perhaps she was overthinking it and getting paranoid. Gabriel seemed to notice her discomfort, tugging her closer into his side and planting a kiss on the top of her head. She leaned into him happily, taking a sip of her champagne. It didn’t matter what they thought. They didn’t know him like Olivia did, so even if they did judge it wouldn’t effect her at all.

“Alright, I just wanted to make another small, little toast before we wrap things up,” Isaac announced, moving to the center of the living room with Emily under his arm.

“I want to thank everyone for coming to help us celebrate our engagement, it really means the world to me. And I expect all of you at our bachelor parties,” he chuckled, the crowd chuckling as well.

Isaac then glanced down to Emily, who looked gorgeous in a blush lace dress. He just stared down at her lovingly for a few long moments before speaking again, “This woman means the absolute world to me. She is the love of my life, the rock which keeps me grounded, and my safety net to catch me when I fall. Even when I first met her in that horrible roller-rink freshman year, I just had that feeling that she was going to be my ball and chain one day. And while things haven’t been perfect because nothing ever is, life with you, Emily, is as perfect as they will ever get.”

Isaac then gave her a big kiss before looking to the crowd and raising his beer. “Cheers everybody.”

Olivia’s eyes were glossy, touched by the sentimental message Isaac had professed in front of all those people. She couldn’t help but reflect on relationship with Gabriel. Ever since he had caught her outside her apartment building the first night they met, Olivia had a feeling in her gut about Gabriel. Never had a man given her butterflies like he did. They had been together for four months, and he still had that effect on her.

While there was still quite a bit of mystery to the man, Olivia knew she loved him deeper than she had ever loved anyone else—and probably more than she would ever love anyone. Gabriel had a grip on her heart, and she knew she had his heart as well. Unlike Kent and the other few boyfriends she had over the years, Olivia never worried about Gabriel cheating on her or doing anything like that.

He didn’t even feed on other humans since they talked about it. Being surrounded by love and being filled with love for Gabriel, she couldn’t help but wonder if they would get married one day too. It was still far too early in the relationship to really think about marriage. Still, the romantic side of her felt giddy at the thought of being married to Gabriel one day.

After the guests finished their drinks and gave Emily and Isaac one last congratulation, they began to file out of the apartment. When the final person left, Olivia let out a sigh of relief. She was happy to celebrate such a joyous occasion with Emily, but she didn’t like crowds.

Emily and Olivia started to clean up all of the beer bottles and snack trays. Isaac went into Emily’s room to change from his formal wear into his pajamas and Gabriel excused himself to the bathroom. As Olivia and Emily cleaned, Olivia couldn’t stop smiling. She was just so happy for her best friend.

“I can’t believe you’re actually getting married!” grinned to Emily.

Emily carried around a trash bag as she went around finding all the scattered trash.

“I know. But I mean, it’s about damn time,” she laughed.

Olivia laughed along with her, “True. You guys have been together forever it seems like. But you two were made for each other.”

“Thanks,” Emily grinned. “And you know, I think you and Gabriel might have the same kind of connection.”

Olivia looked up with a surprised expression, “You think so?” she asked, her stomach churning a little just from the thought.

“Oh, absolutely. I mean I know not everyone thinks so, but I definitely see it.”

She paused then, giving her friend an inquisitive look. “What do you mean by that?” she asked.

  Not everyone thinks so? Who?

“You know, our coworkers and stuff,” Emily shrugged as she gathered the last of the beer bottles.

“I heard some of them whispering about it. Saying that they thought he was creepy and hovered too much. That he g
ave a weird vibe. But they just don’t know you guys like I do. I’ve been around you guys as a couple the entire time, and that boy loves the hell out of you. And I know you love him. Nothing else should matter at all. You two are perfect together.”

Olivia had a bashful smile on her face. It was actually kind of relieving to hear someone else say that they saw how in love they were. Things had moved so quickly between the two of them that sometimes she found herself wondering if she was getting ahead of herself. After all, they admitted their love for each other without even knowing one another a month. It had taken her six months to tell Kent she loved him. But then again, maybe it reflected on how pure and genuine their love was.

“Thank you, Emily. That means a lot,” she told her friend.

“Of course,” Emily smiled. “I’m just glad to see you finally with a good man.”

And as if on cue, Gabriel came back into the room and was behind Olivia.

He snaked an arm around her waist, “Mind if I borrow this one?” Gabriel asked Emily with a smirk on his face.

Emily sighed dramatically, “I don’t know,” she teased.

She gave a glance around the apartment. “I suppose it’s clean enough for now. You may be excused.”

  “Thanks, Master Emily,” Olivia chuckled.

Before anything else could be said, Gabriel tugged Olivia along. She assumed he needed to feed or something, but was surprised when he stopped outside the bathroom door. When he opened the door, the lights were off and the small room was illuminated only by candlelight. The bathtub was filled with bubbles, with the floral aroma filling the room. She looked up at him and noticed he carried one of the extra bottles of champagne and two glasses.

“Why, Gabe, aren’t you the little romantic?” she grinned at him.

The man chuckled and nudged her to walk into the bathroom, shutting the door behind him. They undressed and Olivia removed her makeup so that it didn’t run down her face while they were in the bath. When she was done cleaning her face, she looked over in time to see Gabriel stepping into the tub of steamy water and bubbles. He was such a massive, burly looking man so it was kind of humorous to see him in a candlelit bubble bath. She couldn’t get over how romantic the gesture was. Maybe the engagement party had gotten to him a bit too.

Olivia moved towards the tub, looking to Gabriel who was laid back in the water with a soft smile on his face. As she stepped into the tub, his hands reached up and held her hips lightly to steady her as she sat down. Her back rested against his torso, her head on his shoulder. The water was hot, yet he was cool to the touch. She had grown used to his cool touch and actually found it comforting. His hands drifted through her hair as they relaxed into the water, leaving soft kisses on her neck. He never failed to make her feel worshiped.

“Thank you for this,” Olivia purred to him, her head turning to look up at him.

“Of course,” he nodded, one hand going to the front of her neck and letting his fingertips brush slowly across the sensitive skin.

Gabriel then cupped her chin and brought his lips to hers, kissing her deeply and tenderly. When he pulled away, his steel-colored eyes fixated on hers. He gazed into her eyes for what felt like years.

“I love you more than anything, Liv,” he breathed to her, his fingertips tracing the outline of her cheekbones.

“You’re the most fantastic creature I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. You amaze me.”

  Olivia’s cheeks were flushed.

  “I love you too, Gabriel.”

His hands left her face and instead wrapped his arms under her chest. Her fingers ran through his thick black beard.

“And you’re insane, a little. How can I be a fantastic creature when I’m just a squishy human, and you’re an eternal vampire?” she chuckled quietly.

“There’s nothing special about being a vampire,” he told her plainly.

“A vampire is only unique if the person they were before the transition was. Being a vampire doesn’t make someone special, just makes them old and scary.”

“So does that make you old and scary?” she teased him.

“Oldest and the scariest,” he nipped playfully at her ear.

Olivia laughed happily as she relaxed into the tub. How could she have ever been so lucky as to have a man like him to all her own, and get to keep him for all eternity? The question only made her wonder when he would turn her into a vampire. He would eventually, wouldn’t he? Hopefully he wouldn’t want to let her grow old and die. If she was going to grow old, she wanted it to be with him. But that wasn’t an option. She wasn’t quite ready to give the level of commitment it took to opt into being a vampire, but it only a matter of time. If that was the only thing separating her from spending all of eternity with him, then she would be willing to make the sacrifice. She was sure of it.

  CHAPTER TWO

After the water turned cold and their champagne was half gone, the couple finally decided to get out of the bath. Olivia dried off before putting on her silky robe, and Gabriel wrapped his towel around his waist. Walking from the bathroom, they stepped into her room. She walked over to the bed and sat at the foot of the bed, it seeming to be a bit of a routine when they retired to her room for the night.

Gabriel sauntered over to her, sitting just behind her on the bed. His fingertip traveled from behind her ear, down her neck and along her shoulder. Her head turned slightly to look at him as he moved her hair to the other shoulder. He then very gingerly took the hem of the robe and pushed it from her neck.

There was always a bit of anticipation and anxiety in her when he went to feed. It always hurt at first, but then it would be indescribably pleasurable. And it was kind of fulfilling for her to be the only one Gabriel fed from. It meant that her blood was what kept him full of life and healthy; it was kind of empowering for Olivia.

His lips grazed against the skin of her shoulder, his hands placed lightly on her sides.

“Ready?” he asked her, lips still against her skin.

Olivia’s eyes fluttered closed, and she gave a nod. He only ever fed from one spot on her shoulder, not wanting to leave her covered in puncture wounds. Gabriel kissed the wound tenderly before sinking his fangs in. The pain was sharp and burning. The wound never got to heal properly so the flesh was tender, but she didn’t mind it. Her face winced for just a few seconds. She could feel the blood being sucked from her body; it was a strange sensation. But, it then melted into pleasure. The only way she could describe the feeling was it being the best neck kisses in the world, completely titillating and almost addictive. It sent waves of arousal through her body, her body tingling from the pleasure. Gabriel’s hands gripped her lightly as he fed, though the grip gradually tightened as he grew aroused himself.

Once his thirst was satisfied, he removed his fangs and then licked the droplets of blood that tried to escape. Her face turned to him once again, his iron-laced lips crashing against hers immediately. His hands glided across the silky robe to the front. Parting the fabric, he groped her breast as he kissed her with fervor. Olivia turned her body to the side to get a better angle to kiss him. As she turned, his hand drifted from her breast, down her stomach and immediately to her sex. Feeding always made her body ache for him. Over the months they had spent together, he had learned her body better than she even knew it. She then turned completely, climbing into his lap. Gabriel immediately pushed the robe from her shoulders and let it fall to the floor.

Her hands gripped at the raven locks at the nape of his neck as their lips devoured one another’s, their entire bodies aflame with desire. The tips of his fingers slid along her sex, pinching lightly at her in a teasing fashion as he laid back on the bed. She reached down and parted the towel from around his waist. Without any hesitation, Olivia grabbed his member carefully and positioned herself. With one quick movement, she slid down his member. A breathy moan escaped his lips at the sensation. His hands found her hips as she began to rock against him, helping her maintain speed.

The mix of pleasure that still lingered in her body from the feeding and the champagne she had indulged in that evening left it feeling surreal to her. He was perfect in every way possible, sometimes she worried he was just a dream or a figment of her imagination. And sex with him was never as it was with other guys. It was special and intimate, no matter how heated and quick they were about it. Even when they were just extremely hot and bothered and just getting out some sexual frustration, there was still love behind it. He was never selfish, making sure they both got off every time. And while Olivia had never been a prude per se, she had never been sex-crazy either. But Gabriel brought that out in her, wanting his body at practically all times.

Suddenly, Gabriel moved in a blur and before she knew it, she was on all fours. He entered her from behind, pumping into her quickly. Olivia bit her lip to keep from being loud, knowing Emily and Isaac were home. Each time he pushed all the way in, he hit her g-spot. Her breathing was labored, her body growing hot as she was overcome with pleasure. Her body instinctively rocked back into each of his thrusts, sending his member deeper within her. She could hear his uneven breaths from behind her.

Turning her face, she gazed back at him to see his eyes were closed and lips parted slightly as he moved against her. Pushing back against his motions a little quicker, he growled lowly and gripped her sides. His piercing gray eyes opened to find her watching him. He locked eyes with her as he quickened his pace, pulling her back a bit aggressively with each thrust. Her cheeks were flushed, feeling vulnerable holding such intense eye contact during sex. And her blush only worsened when she felt herself quickly approaching orgasm.

Moans started escaping her lips carelessly, unable to stop them as she succumbed to the pleasure.

“Fuck,” Gabriel groaned, his movements becoming a little rigid as he tried to hold himself back from climaxing.
