When I looked at Luke again, his eyes were on me, and his face was riddled with desire.

Luke pulled me closer and kissed me. I could taste the hot water on his lips, and when I opened my mouth, he slid his tongue into me, tasting, exploring. I kissed him back, wrapping my arms around his neck and pressing my body up against his. My naked breasts were against his chest, the hot water cascading over our bodies, melding us together. I felt every inch of Luke’s skin, his hard dick sandwiched between our bodies, and I was achingly aware of it. I wanted him inside of me. I was alive with desire, and I wanted Luke to claim me as his own again as he had done the first time.

Luke trailed his hands down my back and over my ass, squeezing it. He ground himself against me. I was so turned on. Luke’s body was incredible. He was strong, his muscles rippling under his skin, and when he was pressed up against me like this, towering over me, he was attractive as hell. I had a thing for taller men, and Luke made me feel delicate.

When he kissed me, I got lost in the feel and the taste of him, and he touched me so gently like I could break. When I was with him it was like he cared about me. It wasn’t just about my body, and I hadn’t experienced that before.

Luke put his hands on my arms and gently turned me so that I was pressed up against the wall. I gasped when the cold tiles pressed against my back. Luke kissed me again, pinning me against the wall with his body and his cock was hard against my lower abdomen. Luke ground himself against me, and I was helpless. I melted against him.

Luke’s hands moved to my breasts, and he massaged me, squeezing the mound, taking my nipples between his fingers and lightly pinching and tugging me. He kissed a fiery trail down my neck and onto my chest, taking one nipple into his mouth. He sucked on me while he played with my other nipple. I gasped and moaned. I was so turned on. I could feel the wetness between my legs.

After a while, Luke switched nipples, doing the same. My hands were in his wet hair, and I moaned as his tongue flicked over my nipple, making me hot as hell and horny for him. He let go of my breast, and while he sucked on my nipple, his hand slid down over my abdomen and between my legs to my pussy. He pushed his fingers into my slit, and I spread my legs a little to make space for him. Luke rubbed my clit with his fingers while he sucked on my nipple, and I struggled to concentrate, pulled back and forth between the two sources of pleasure.

It didn’t take very long before I orgasmed. I cried out and curled forward. Luke let go of my nipple and kissed me again, his fingers still in my slit, drawing out my orgasm.

Just before it was over, he pushed his fingers into me and pumped them in and out a few times, making me shudder and cry out.

I opened my eyes and straightened myself up again. Luke kissed me before he spun me around so I was facing the wall. I pressed my palms against the tiles, and Luke’s hands went to my ass. He massaged the cheeks, squeezing, rubbing and he rubbed his dick all over my ass, claiming me. I loved how possessive he became when we were having sex. He made me feel sexy and desirable, and he touched me like my pleasure was all he cared about.

Luke moved away from me, and the shower door opened. Cold air rushed over my body, and I looked over my shoulder to see Luke pull out a silver foil packet from the bathroom cabinet. He made quick work of tearing the packet and rolling the condom over his dick. I realized why I hadn’t noticed it before. Luke did it so fast, unceremoniously. It didn’t take away from the mood at all.

Luke pulled my hips back a little, so I stuck out my ass. I arched my back, my chest still close to the tiles. Luke found my entrance with his fingers, spreading my cheeks a little as he explored me. I gasped, pressing my cheek against the wall and closing my eyes, giving myself over to the sensation.

When Luke replaced his fingers with his cock, I gasped, my eyes shooting open. Luke pushed into me, my body stretching to accommodate him. The sex was so much better now that I had lost my virginity. There was no pain, only pleasure.

Luke slid slowly into me, and I moaned. When he was inside of me, he waited for a beat before he pulled out again. He pushed back in and pumped slowly in and out of me. I cried out as he picked up his pace, pushing me against the wall and pounding into me. The sound of my moans and his grunts were muffled by the sound of running water. Luke’s balls slapped against my pussy, and when I looked over my shoulder, I saw his muscular body tower over mine, muscles strained. Luke’s face was riddled with concentration as he fucked me.

He paused for a moment to kiss me, his hand on my cheek, turning my face toward him. He carried on, and I pushed against the wall to counter Luke’s thrusting. I orgasmed a second time, collapsing against the wall as my body shuddered, muscles contracting, and Luke slowed his thrusting to something sensual and controlled while I rode out the pleasure that had taken over my body.

Luke pulled out of me and spun me around, pushing me up against the wall again, facing him this time. He kissed me hard, mashing his lips against mine, running his hands over my body. He lifted my leg with his hand on my thigh and found my entrance again, pushing into me.

I cried out as Luke started pounding into me again, pumping harder and harder. The wall was hard behind me, but I didn’t care. I couldn’t feel anything other than the pleasure that he released inside of me with every stroke. Luke thrust into me harder and faster, building up a rhythm, and when I opened my eyes, his blue eyes were glued to mine. Luke’s knees were bent so he could push into me from the right angle, and it put his face at the same height as mine. Having his eyes right before me, practically staring into my soul, was more intimate than anything I had experienced before. I lifted my hand and stroked Luke’s cheek.

Luke pushed into me harder and faster still, his strokes shortening, and I took my hand off his cheek and pressed it against the shower wall to keep my balance, my other hand on his shoulder. Luke’s pounding finally pushed me into my third orgasm, and as I came, Luke released inside of me. I felt him jerk and twitch as he emptied himself out, and I fell apart, sandwiched between him and the wall. It was the only reason I was still standing. My legs had turned to jelly, and if it hadn’t been for Luke who held me up, I would have slid to the floor.

My body contracted, clamping down on Luke, and all I could think about was the ecstasy that traveled through my entire body.

When I opened my eyes, I realized I had been grabbing onto Luke’s shoulder, my nails biting into his skin. There were little half-moons in his skin where my nails had damaged it.

“I’m sorry,” I said in a breathy voice.

“Don’t be,” Luke said with a smile. “You marked me. I like it. It’s hot.”

I shivered. Luke pulled out of me and let down my leg. I stood on unstable legs, trying to recover. Luke reached for the soap and loofah and worked up a lather before he proceeded to rub it all over my body. He moved slowly, sensually and even though he was soft now it was so sensual. He washed me, sliding the soap over my body. When he was done, I did the same for him. Finally, I washed my hair, and we rinsed ourselves off before we turned off the water.

Luke climbed out of the shower first, wrapping a towel around his waist before he held one open for me. When I stepped out, he wrapped it around my body and offered another one for my hair. He was so caring it was hard to think that this was real, that I wasn’t stuck in a dream.

We dressed, and I plugged in my hairdryer to dry my hair. Luke lay on the bed, watching me work systematically through my hair until it was dry.

When I was ready for bed, I crawled under the covers with him. He kissed me and ran his fingers through my hair. We didn’t go to sleep right away. Instead, we stayed up talking, getting to know each other, relishing in each other’s company. That we could do that after having sex, that he cared about who I was and was willing to open up to me about who he was, made me think that this was the real deal. If I was ever to find love, I imagined it to be something like this.

  Chapter 12

  Luke

I opened my eyes, and it felt much later than it should have b
een. The room was bright, the light at a different angle.

When I looked at the clock, it read eleven-thirty. We had slept the whole morning away!

  I jolted upright.

“Anna,” I said, gently shaking her shoulder. “We’re late.”

We had planned to leave early today so we could get Anna to Steamboat Springs and I could get back before the storm hit again. If the snow was too bad and we were caught in it, we wouldn’t be able to complete the journey, or I would be stranded on the way back. The idea had been to leave so we could get ahead and stay ahead of the storm.

“Anna,” I said again, trying to wake her up. She was in a deep sleep. I didn’t want to bother her, she looked so peaceful and beautiful. Anna was gorgeous, even when she slept. But she needed to get to Steamboat Springs to the people where she had arranged to stay. I wanted her to be safe getting there and would do whatever was needed to make it happen.

  Anna’s eyes fluttered open.

“We’re late,” I said again. “We overslept. It’s already eleven-thirty, and we need to hit the road as soon as possible if we want to get to Steamboat Springs before the storm.”

Anna sat up, the sheets slipping off her body to reveal her in all her naked glory. I could stay in bed with her all day if I had the choice.

“Didn’t we hear the alarm?” she asked.

I shook my head. “I don’t think it went off. We have to get ready.”

I got out of bed and pulled on my boxer shorts before I walked to the bathroom. I was worried about the storm. I hated a rude awakening like this especially after we’d had such a good night.

When I came back into the room, Anna was still in bed.

“We have to leave as soon as we can,” I said. “I know neither of us is in the mood. I’m sorry about my shitty alarm clock.”

Anna shook her head. “Don’t be sorry. It happens.”

“I’ll have to check the weather to see if we can make it.”

Anna shook her head again. “Don’t worry about it. I was thinking, I don’t mind staying here a couple of days longer if it means we’ll both be safe. Leaving now is too much of a risk. I don’t want you caught in the storm on the way back. It’s not worth it. I’m perfectly safe here. If you’ll have me, of course.”

I smiled and climbed onto the bed with her. “Of course, I’ll have you,” I said. “Are you sure you want to stay here a while longer?”

  Anna nodded. “I’m safe here.”

  “Safe?”

  “From the storm,” she said.

The way she’d said it made me wonder if there was more to her being in Colorado. Maybe there was something she wasn’t telling me. I wanted to ask but decided against it. If there was something she wanted me to know, I was sure she would tell me herself.

“We can still make it. You mentioned your friend was worried,” I said.

Anna shook her head. “We don’t have to take the risk. We might be able to get there without trouble but what if you come back and the storm hits, and you can’t get back to the cabin? I would hate for that to happen when you’re going through so much trouble to help me out and to drive me all the way there. Really, it’s fine. I think we should wait it out a little longer.”

I nodded and kissed Anna. She was kind and thoughtful, and it wasn’t often I ran into people like that. Not in the life I used to live. I had come from a world where it was kill or be killed, and even though I had been removed from all that for more than a year, it was still a strange concept that someone would take me into consideration purely because of who I was. I had learned long ago that people usually wanted something in return for their favors.

Well, it wasn’t like that with Anna. Which was why I loved the idea she would be here a couple more days. I had hated the thought of her having to leave, of possibly never seeing her again. Anna was different than the women I’d been with before and letting her slip through my fingers had seemed like a crime.

“Will you let me know the moment you want to leave?” I asked. “We’ll take care of it.”

Anna smiled. “I’ll let you know, but I’m pretty sure that’s not going to happen. I’m not going to regret staying. I like being here.”

“I like having you here,” I said and kissed her again. Having her here was amazing. Besides, I could kiss her whenever I wanted if she stayed.

We lounged in bed for a while longer, making out and talking before we got up and put the kettle on. Anna took care of the coffee while I tended to the hearth, building a fire to warm up the cabin. Temperatures had dropped again, and it was freezing outside.

Once we had our coffee, I bundled myself up in a thick jacket and boots and headed out to look for signs of the mountain lion.

“I’m going out to check the traps again,” I said to Anna before I left the house.

The sounds I had heard before had been proof that the mountain lion had been close by, and I worried that it was coming closer to the cabin. They were supposed to stay away, but animals tended to get arrogant when humans were in their space for too long without causing trouble.

I had told Anna I was checking the traps again even though I hadn’t set them after checking them the last time I had been out. I hadn’t wanted to tell her about the mountain lion. Anna wasn’t used to living out here in the wild, and she had been nervous when I’d told her that the animals came close to the cabin. If I told her a mountain lion was testing the water, I was worried she would freak out.

I circled the cabin, moving out systematically, looking for traps and other signs of life. There hadn’t been snow throughout the night so my tracks were still visible. There were no new animal tracks that I could see, though. Even if I had set the traps, I wouldn’t have found anything to eat.

That didn’t bother me; I had stocked up on enough supplies. What worried me was that the animals were staying away from the traps where they had been around before. There had to be a reason why they were avoiding this spot now.

I found that reason not too long after. Large tracks moved around the cabin in a wide circle, tracks that belonged to a mountain lion. I kneeled in the snow and studied the tracks. They were definitely prints that belonged to the large cat. And it was much too close to the cabin for comfort.

The animals were avoiding this area with the mountain lion around. I watched the animals’ behavior out here because they often told me things I wouldn’t have been able to figure out myself. Like when a storm was coming or when winter was on its way.

Knowing the mountain lion dared come this close to the cabin was unsettling. If it was safe, if it didn’t feel threatened in any way, it would come closer and closer still. I would have to shoot it if it threatened us, but until then, I didn’t want to do anything drastic. This was the mountain lion’s natural habitat, after all. If I thought about it logically, I was the intruder.

I stood between the trees close to where I had seen the tracks for a while, listening. The woods were eerily quiet, and there were no sounds akin to a mountain lion the way there had been before. Wherever it was, the cat wasn’t close by. But it had been here before, and it would be here again. I was under no illusion that it wouldn’t come back.

I had to prepare myself for the scenario in which it did.

Before long, I headed back to the cabin.

  “And?” Anna asked.

I shook my head. “I think the pending storm has driven the animals into shelter for safety. I doubt we’ll see them around in the next couple of days.”

Anna didn’t know much about trapping and hunting and took my word for it. It wasn’t impossible that the animals were in hiding, after all.

I walked to my closet and found the old radio we used to use when I was a child. It was practically an antique by now. I hadn’t used it in a long time. Usually I took what nature threw at me.

But with Anna here I felt I needed a connection to the outside world of sorts.

“That’s an old radio,” Anna commented when I walked back to the living r
oom with it.

“Yeah, my dad bought it when I was very young. It’s the only contraption that can catch radio waves out here. I don’t know why.”

Anna watched me as I set up the radio, plugging it in and adjusting the antenna until the static that came over the speakers blurred into sound.

“And nothing else works up here?” Anna asked.

I shook my head. “It’s the strangest thing.”

We huddled around the radio and listened to the presenter that read the weather report. The signal was weak, and the voice was soft, fading in and out from time to time, but we heard what we needed to hear.

Another storm was on its way, and it was set to hit right on top of us.

“I’m glad we didn’t head out,” I said. “You were right. We would have gotten stuck.”

  Anna nodded without commenting.

I was also relieved about the storm coming because of the mountain lion doing the rounds around my cabin. The storm would drive the animal away for a while, keeping us safe. When the weather report was over, I put my jacket back on and headed out into the cold. I looked up. The clouds were threatening with snow, the storm was approaching fast, and I had to make sure we were ready for the next couple of days.

I walked to the storage shed where I had chopped and stacked wood, enough to get us through a tough time. Like this. I worked hard to carry piles of wood to the cabin, making sure we were ready for the cold without having to head out into the snow again. I was relieved I had stocked up on so many supplies and taken care of the meat.

If the storm was bad, and we were snowed in for the next few days, we were going to need it.

  Chapter 13

  Anna

The storm hit as the weather report had promised, and it was a bad one. I was glad Luke had brought out the radio. I didn’t know how he coped without being in touch with the outside world, how he didn’t listen to the news when he had the means to do so. He had told me that he barely used the radio, and judging by how dusty the machine was, I believed him.
