“Alexandra, I want you to know how pleased and proud I am that you had the vision to see the applications of Spencer’s hand,” her father said. “You demonstrated the sort of forward-thinking I’d always hoped my children would have. Well-done.”
Spencer had slipped his arm around her waist and now he squeezed her gently.
“You should hear your father.” Catherine looked up at him fondly. “He’s been quite a bore going on about you two.”
Lexi smiled. A month ago, she would have been elated. Now, while her father’s approval pleased her, she would have felt the same without it. And it was all because of the man at her side.
Her parents stayed a few more minutes, meeting Spencer’s team, and then went on to their party at the Wainright Inn.
“Looks like we’re both going to be busy next year,” Spencer said, closing the door after her parents and sliding his arms around her waist.
“But not too busy to be together.”
“And we’ll have to work a wedding in there, too.”
Lexi gripped him hard. “Oh, Spencer, I do love you.”
He grinned. “I know.”
