[Found in Oblivion 01.0 - 02.0] Bedded Trouble Page 68

by Cari Quinn

“No, not so much. You’re just not super romantic. Which is okay,” she hastened to add. “Sparks has that covered.”

“Oh, really.” Tris crossed his arms, almost smugly. “Is that so?”

“It’s not a fault or anything. You both do different things well.”

“And what is my talent?” Tristan asked.

“Cooking. And fucking. You’re supremely good at that.”

  Randy cleared his throat.

“You too, sweetie.” She leaned over to pat Sparks’s hand. “You’re both studs.”

Tristan yanked her by the ankle to the edge of the bed, earning her shriek. “And you, Ms. Reece, are a con artist. But you’re cute, so we’ll let you get away with it this time.”

She danced her fingertips up the column in his jeans. “Maybe I could make you change your mind about me.”

  “Maybe later. I’m saving myself.”

Her pout caused Randy to harden in an instant. Sweet hell, those dark red lips were his undoing. One of many.

  “For what?” she asked.

“Until after I give you this.” Tristan withdrew a long, narrow black jeweler’s box from the back pocket of his jeans.

Randy’s first thought was to wonder how Tris had managed to sit with that thing back there.

  His next was holy shit.

Juliet didn’t move. Randy wasn’t entirely sure she was still breathing.

Tris waved the box impatiently. “Don’t you want to open it?”

“Um. Um.” She glanced over her shoulder at Randy. “Help me out here.”

  “Okay. Open the box.”

“Pfft. Some help you are. Men.” Tentatively, she reached for the box and opened it.

  And said absolutely nothing.

Tris shoved his hands in his pockets, balling them up so his knuckles pressed against the denim. “Well? Well?”

Randy frowned and gave up waiting for someone to clue him in. He placed one knee on the bed and leaned over her shoulder to see what was in the box.

His eyes nearly bugged out of his head. “You gave her a whole bunch of rings, man? That’s not how you do it. You’re supposed to pick one. Even I know that.”

“Dumbass, they’re not all for her. They’re for us too.” Jerkily, Tris reached down and plucked out one of the white gold sturdier bands. Which on closer inspection looked way too big for Juliet’s delicate fingers. “Here.”

Randy frowned. “That’s for me?” All at once, he understood, and he grinned. “Oh. That’s awesome. Really?”

“You are both the most completely clueless people on the planet. Here I thought I was doing something thoughtful, and yes, so fucking romantic that I figured I’d immediately get lifetime bragging rights and possibly a blowjob. Instead, you both stare at me as if I’d presented you with fast food.”

Juliet started to laugh, so hard that she rolled over on her side, still clutching the box. “Only to you is fast food horrifying, Eves.”

After a moment, she sobered and sat up, wiping her eyes. “Maybe you should explain what exactly these are.”

“They’re promise rings. Commitment rings. One for each of us to wear. To show we’re fucking committed to each other.”

“Hmm.” Still holding his ring, Randy dropped down on the bed beside Jules. “That sounds kind of serious.”

“You’re living in my apartment, aren’t you? Sleeping in my bed every night, eating my food.”

“Sucking your dick,” Juliet said slyly.

But Tristan was not mollified. “That too.”

“Still, this seems rather intense.” Randy turned the ring to the light. “Carved white gold. This must’ve set you back a bit.”

  “Look at hers.”

Randy obliged him, taking the box from Jules. Inside was an infinity band, also in white gold, with a diamond in each of the loops. “They stand for us. The two diamonds,” he said softly.

“Yeah.” Tristan started to snatch back the box. “Look, if it’s too soon, and you guys aren’t ready, no big deal. We’ll talk about it another time.”

“Hold it.” Juliet grabbed Tris’s hand. “I want my ring, you jackass. Don’t you dare take it back.”

Instantly, Tris’s face transformed. His eyes softened as he stared down at her. “You do? For real?”

“I so do.” She held out her hand. “Put it on me, please.”

He complied, slipping it onto her finger. It fit perfectly, or at least she didn’t complain.

Judging from her grin, she wouldn’t be complaining again for a while.

“God, it’s so beautiful. Thank you. I love it. Now, do him.”

Tris lifted a brow. “Excuse me?”

“Put his ring on him properly. You gotta have some ceremony to it.”

Tris heaved out a breath and took back the ring from Randy before shoving it on his finger as fast as humanly possible. Another perfect fit. The dude paid attention.

“Okay?” he challenged Randy, almost asking for an argument.

“Absolutely okay.” Swallowing hard, Randy pulled the other ring out of Juliet’s box and did the same to Tris, who frowned the whole time.

It was almost cute, if he was in the habit of finding men attractive. And he was not. But if he was, Tris definitely qualified.

“Okay?” Randy asked his best friend.

“Yeah.” Tris flexed his fingers. “Surprisingly okay.”

They all grinned at each other for a minute until Randy remember the rest of their gift and rolled off the bed. He opened the nightstand drawer and pulled out the deed, slapping it into Tristan’s hand.

  “What’s this?”

  “Read it.”

Silently, Tris scanned the page, then he cocked a brow. “No way. You guys bought the loft next door? It’s yours now.”

“You mean it’s ours now. Yes. It sure is.” Jules rose up on her knees and circled her arm around his waist. “So how do you feel about this giant bed now, Chef?”

Tris grinned and tossed the deed over his shoulder. “Let’s play.”

Thanks for reading TRIPLE TROUBLE. West loves playing the field, but a mysterious fan may just catch his eye. One-click DIRTY DUET, Found in Oblivion Book 3.

He’s the wildest guy in his band, but falling for a virgin groupie-in-disguise might be his craziest move yet.

Keyboardist West Reynolds’s idea of commitment? Going out for breakfast with a woman after a night of bed-breaking action. The only thing he gets serious about is Warning Sign, the band he formed with his two best friends. Then he meets a woman being hauled off by security, and she’s fascinated by him.

To her, he’s a subject to study. Like a bug under a microscope with a big…head.

Lauren Bryant is a student of psychology, and now she’s going in depth on rockstars. Specifically, fans. What makes a woman turn into a lust-driven groupie?

  Is it the music?

  The fame?

  The men?

She isn’t sure, but she never expected to get her own night with a rockstar. And she just figured out the ultimate way to get inside a subject is to let the subject inside you…

  Dirty Duet

Lauren Bryant adjusted her green belly shirt and sucked in a shaky breath. She was on the verge of being brushed by greatness. This close to seeing the sweat, touching the rock-hard abs, drowning in the throbbing, undulating beat.

Okay, so the first and last, sure. The middle one? Not likely in this lifetime or any
other. Though wouldn’t that add an air of authenticity to her paper?

Rockstar abs feel like any other man’s abs…

Wait, scratch that out. She hadn’t touched any other man’s abs either so she couldn’t authoritatively make that claim. And in this paper, everything would be documented and re-documented. Checked and re-checked. No ifs, ands, and butts—specifically male ones.

But she was at a rock concert, not a flesh-peddling convention. Although they were surprisingly similar at times.

“Seriously?” Beside her, her best friend Ethan shook his head. He was still slouched in his seat, flipping through the stock report on his phone. Meanwhile, she fiddled with her clothes, trying to make sure everything was covered that she wanted covered and everything exposed that she wanted exposed.

Her big boobs and large ass were assets here, rather than the distractions they were seen as in academia. So was her blond hair and grayish-blue eyes, even if they appeared more wholesome and homespun than rockstar groupie. She’d always wanted straight, jet black hair like Cher in the old days. So ever since she’d started coming to Warning Sign shows, she’d worn a dark wig. Hey, if she had to do this rock groupie-slash-stalker thing up properly, she might as well have some fun with it. Her search for fun also included the pink see-through scalloped lace lingerie she’d worn under her stupidly tight clothes.

At least she’d look good for the coroner if she died of asphyxiation.

Another thing to overcome, apparently, was having a male best friend when you were at a rock concert specifically to get some action—the sort that hopefully wouldn’t get her arrested or naked. What was the point of wearing sexy lingerie if you just ended up in the buff? Her breasts appreciated the support.

“Do you really have to appear so disagreeable?” she asked, shoving Ethan hard in the shoulder. He bobbled his phone and gave her a look of pure malice. “No one’s going to approach me with you sitting there looking like a gloomy Gus.”

“Gloomy Gus? Seriously?” His eyebrow winged up. “Your lack of current vocabulary is truly awe-inspiring.”

“Fine. Stop harshing my buzz. Better?”

“Maybe, if you had a buzz.” He smirked. “You don’t drink, remember?”

“I don’t, but I can. At any time. In fact, I might get rip-roaring inebriated tonight.”

“Sure you will, honey. I’ll just hold my breath on that one and hope I don’t turn blue before the paramedics arrive. Preferably blond and busty.”

“I’m blond and busty. Don’t see you caring there.”

“Black wig, remember? And your breasts aren’t in my sphere.” He went back to his phone. “You’re practically a male as far as I’m concerned.”

“Thanks for the ego boost, jackass.” She huffed out a breath and perched on the edge of her seat, crossing her arms. “Look, you know why I’m here. Why I have to make this count. With the restraining order, I might not get another chance—”

“Restraining order?” He grabbed her wrist. “You didn’t say it had escalated to the point of the courts getting involved.”

  About the Authors

USA Today bestselling author Cari Quinn likes music and men, so she figured why not write about both? When she’s not writing, she's screaming at men’s college basketball games on TV, playing her music too loud or causing trouble. Sometimes simultaneously.

USA Today bestselling author Taryn Elliott is obsessed with rock stars, men, and her unending playlists—maximizing these things seemed like a very good idea. When she’s not writing, she’s losing hours to hot men on TV, and/or a graphic design project. Multitasking is her middle name.

They decided to combine forces and found that hey...this writing deal is even more awesome when you collaborate with your best friend.

And so the Oblivion World was born.
