Without another word they waltzed over to her, both men propping themselves up against her desk like they owned the place. Which, now that she thought about it, they probably did.
“I didn’t realize there was a new librarian in town,” James said, looking her up and down.
The other one – Ethan – leaned over the counter, and smirked, “Or do you prefer to be called ‘Media Specialist?’”
“Librarian is fine,” Aubrey said in a small voice. She wondered, stupidly, if they remembered her. They’d gone to the same private school, even shared a few classes, but had never really interacted. Regardless, it hadn’t stopped her from forming a ridiculous crush on the both of them, as most of the girls in their year had done.
“I like that. We—” Ethan motioned to his friend. “Like that. Old fashioned, very nice.”
Aubrey could only imagine what she must look like to them. She’d fixed her hair in a bun this morning, but hadn’t dealt with it at all throughout the day, and her sister had only just made fun of her bulky glasses last night. Ethan and James, on the other hand, were wearing suits and matching ties, probably by some designer she’d never heard of.
“So, Madam Librarian,” James began, unwrapping one of the butterscotch drops from her candy dish and popping it into his mouth. “I don’t have a library card, but can I check you out?”
It took a moment for her brain to register what he’d just said. “E-excuse me?” she asked, bewildered.
“Pardon my friend,” Ethan rolled his eyes, and Aubrey watched in horror as he sashayed around her desk to join her, taking a seat on the arm of her chair. “He’s very uncultured.”
“Oh, you’re one to talk,” James laughed, and sunk down to his elbows so his chin was resting on her desk. Aubrey wasn’t sure who to ask to leave first – Ethan, elbowing in on her personal space, or James, inches away from her own face.
“Hold on, what’s this?” Ethan snatched a white object from behind her monitor, sticking out against her dark oak desk and black computer. Her book.
“What is that thing?” James asked, clearly amused.
“Wait!” Aubrey yelled, but when she tried to take it back Ethan jumped up and started slowly pacing the room, flipping the book open a random scene.
“The dhampir grabbed her,” Ethan started reading out loud. “Dominating her with his superior strength. He… He ripped off her blouse?” Ethan finally seemed to catch on to what he was reading and stopped, mouth closing but eyes still moving as he quietly read on.
James looked from his best friend to Aubrey. “Just what are you bringing to a public library?”
“Give it back!” she fumed, her face red. Of all the people to catch her, it had to be these two. She stood, making a grab for it, but Ethan wrenched it beyond her grasp.
“Don’t be embarrassed,” he told her, quite serious. “It’s perfectly normal. Honestly, your boyfriend’s lucky to be dating someone with such a sexual inclination.” Aubrey paled at his words, and he raised an eyebrow. “Husband, then?”
She looked at the ground, praying for it to swallow her up already.
James whistled. “All by your lonesome then, Miss Librarian?”
This had to be a nightmare. She’d fallen asleep reading again, that was it. There was no possible way the Billionaire Best Friends had come into her library and found her book, let alone care enough to tease her with it. She wasn’t that important – she never was. She hadn’t been good enough to be a writer, so she’d become a librarian, safekeeping the words of others, and she certainly hadn’t been good enough to catch their attention, so why would they be here now?
Aubrey just wanted them to leave.
Stiffening her shoulders, she held out a hand. “My book, please.”
She was still staring at the ground, so she missed the way Ethan and James looked at each other. “You can have your book,” Ethan began, but didn’t move. “Or, you can have your reality.”
Aubrey glanced up at him. “What?” What nonsense was he spouting now?
“I’m saying,” he said, leaning closer and swiftly moving the book behind his back. “That we like you, James and I. You’re not one of the sheep littering this little town. And we’d like to give you something.” He was close now, so close she could cologne on his neck.
So close, that he kissed her.
“What—” she pushed against him, and he let her go. She jumped when she bumped into someone behind her.
“Think,” James said in her ear. She slapped her hand to the ear and whirled around to look at him, still clutching that side of her face. James didn’t make a move to grab her, but rather held up his hands in open surrender. “You couldn’t find two more handsome, eligible bachelors—”
“James, please,” Ethan said with an eye roll, walking back to the entrance. He had her keys in his hand, and locked the door with a loud click. “The point is, miss… What is your name?”
“Aubrey White,” she said, half-hoping they might remember her. Still, she wasn’t surprised when neither boy showed a hint of recognition.
“My dear Aubrey,” James smiled. “When was the last time you got laid?”
Aubrey felt her face flush, the heat coming off in waves. Both boys seemed to notice her blush, and Ethan asked, rather gently, “Aubrey, are you a virgin?”
“No!” she stammered, staring at the floor again. “I’m twenty-four, of course—”
“Ah, you’re our age!” James exclaimed.
“So you’re not a virgin, but rather a shrinking violet?” Ethan pressed, getting closer.
“It would explain the modest suit,” James said, gesturing to her knee-length skirt and long sleeves.
“What exactly are you implying?” Aubrey demanded, still holding out a hand for someone to give her book back.
“Only the very best,” James said, and he brushed a hand against her bare neck. Aubrey shivered in spite of herself. “Want to make those fantasies you’ve been reading…” he leaned in again to whisper. “Come to life?”
Aubrey was a respectable girl. She was the oldest child of three, an honors graduate student, and the town librarian. She was everything her family wanted her to be, and more. She’d lost her fiancé by refusing to quit school and move for him, and after everyone else her age had left, she’d felt helplessly alone. She lived out her adventures through her books, never daring to hope she might, one day, have them realized.
“Just feel it,” Ethan said, his hands in her hair, dotting kisses around her jawline. James nibbled on her ear, whispering the promise after promise she’d always longed to hear.
She didn’t say no. She didn’t want to dash everything she’d ever worked for, so she also didn’t say yes. That way, if (when) the two went all over town, telling everyone what she did, she could defend herself and say she’d never agreed to it.
With that thought, Aubrey gave in, tilting her head when Ethan went to her neck, moaning when James dropped to her shoulder.
She was, after all, a respectable girl.
“You’re so beautiful, Aubrey,” Ethan said, licking her collarbone. “Your lips have turned the most sinful color…”
James, not wanting to be left out, guided her chin to the side and caught her in a kiss. It was sweet at first, petal-soft and tingling, but then he deepened it, grinding their lips together until she felt teeth. It did things to her, that kiss, and she leaned into it, demanding it, and James growled in the back of his throat. She felt his tongue a moment later, and then they were fighting, trying for dominance.
Ethan entertained himself in the meantime, leading with the throat and dipping to her breasts. He unbuttoned her shirt and let it hang there, not bothering to untangle her from James to slide it off completely. Her bra, surprisingly, had a front latch, and he popped it open to watch them fall. She had to be a D, at least, and he grabbed one in each hand to push them back up. He admired their rosy color as the nipples became stiff in his palms, and Aubrey moaned into James’ mouth as he pinched th
em.
James’ hands were wandering, cupping her ass from behind. James had always been an ass-man, but Ethan preferred tits every time.
“Mmm, Aubrey,” James drew back, panting. “Do you think you could get on the floor? With us?” He was already lowering her, guiding her with kisses as he dropped. She followed, bending her knees until she was sitting on the floor. Ethan kissed her cheek.
“Aubrey…” James meant to ask her, but he found she was already moving. Her hands found his belt, undoing the clasp to pull it apart. The zipper was easy after that, and he sighed as she freed his dick. He was throbbing, and her steady hand felt amazing. “Ohhhh…”
Ethan maneuvered himself to lie on his back, directly underneath Aubrey. She didn’t seem to mind, so he continued squeezing, tugging, biting her nipples. They were a dark red now, probably from all the abuse he was giving them.
He sucked on the left one, rolling it around in his mouth, and used his hands to find her ass. She sat up suddenly, readjusting herself, and by the sigh, James let out, Ethan could guess why. Pulling up her skirt, Ethan found her underwear line, and yanked. Aubrey didn’t give any uncomfortable indication that she’d just lost her underwear to pile around her knees, so Ethan took that as a good sign to continue.
Above him, James had his hands in Aubrey’s brown hair, staring down at her as she sucked him off. She definitely wasn’t a virgin, not by the way she was bobbing and sucking and swirling her tongue around his head. He tugged on her head, asking, begging her to take him in further. She smiled around his dick, and moved so far up her head was bumping against his groin. She couldn’t hold it for long, but then she kept doing it, kept taking it like that, and he thought his dick was going to melt and disappear.
She suddenly groaned, and James could feel the vibrations in her throat.
Ethan grinned as he heard the noise Aubrey let out when he rubbed his fingers against her clit. She was so wet, something he was thankful for since he and James hadn’t really thought to bring lube to a library. He went back and forth a few times before bending his fingers and moving to enter. She let him in, and he went knuckles-deep before curling his fingers inside her. She clenched around him.
James removed one his hands from her hair, and tucked some loose strands behind her ear. The bun was starting to unravel, and he looked at Aubrey with a sort of wonder. He grabbed the band and let the hair fall, surprised to see that it went well past her shoulders. “Much better,” he breathed, using the hand still in her hair to give her scalp a sort of massage. He used the other to reach over and slap her ass.
Aubrey jumped, but Ethan shushed her from below. “James, if you don’t mind,” he said loudly, casting his friend a look.
“Couldn’t h-help myself,” James panted.
Ethan rolled his eyes, and continued his ministrations. He started scissoring, and by the way Aubrey curled her toes, he assumed she liked it. “Aubrey,” he said, and she let go of James’ with a pop.
“Y-yes?” she asked.
“Are you ready?” he asked, withdrawing his fingers.
“I…” she looked away, half-considering just putting James back in her mouth and leaving Ethan to it.
“Aubrey,” he said again, and now he was thrusting his hips up, grinding his crotch against hers. He still had his pants on, but the movement of the hot bulge felt amazing. “I’m not doing this unless you tell me it’s okay.”
Her eyes widened and she looked down at Ethan. He, at least, had noticed that she’d neither confirmed nor denied their advances. Though, if she were being honest with herself, it was a little late to play that game now.
“It-it’s okay,” she answered with her eyes closed, blushing.
Ethan smiled, “Okay.” He fiddled with his pants and Aubrey heard the zipper right before he pulled them off. He stroked himself a few times, and James passed him a condom.
He gripped Aubrey’s hips and lowered her from her knees to a sitting position, guiding her onto his cock carefully. She gasped as they moved – she hadn’t been filled in months – and breathed out slowly. Ethan grinned.
“Aubrey,” James half-begged, half-demanded as he threaded his hand back through her hair. She reached up to pull him closer and took him into her mouth again, paying special attention to the base – he seemed to really like it.
Ethan began pumping them up and down, taking key moments to pause and just grind inside her. She whimpered whenever he did, and he pinched her nipples in reply. He kept it going like that, and Aubrey tried to help by meeting his thrusts though she had trouble keeping her attention on James when she did.
It was with a grinding thrust and his hands on Aubrey’s clit that he heard her moan and felt her clamp down around him. He smirked, and yelled up to James, “She just beat us to the finish line!”
“What? Seriously?” James laughed, and urged Aubrey to go faster. Ethan started picking up the pace too, though he really didn’t have much farther to go, not with Aubrey still riding out her orgasm and throbbing around him. He came with a satisfied sigh, and James cried through clenched teeth as he finished in her mouth.
Ethan helped Aubrey lie down, and James dropped to the floor on the opposite side of her. “So?” he asked, still a bit out of breath. “Good as your books?”
Aubrey let out a laugh, and linked hands with them both. “Better,” she told them.
“Oh, you simply must come!” James whined, following Aubrey around the library as she put books away. “It’s this grand party – I’ll bet my life you’ve never been to one like it!” He was trying to convince her to travel back to New York with them. Not for long, they promised; just to attend the party of the year, they said – she wasn’t so sure, knowing them.
It’d been a week since… Well. And since that night they’d been visiting her every day, bothering her to come out for dinner or do a little bit more of what they’d done in the library. They were fun, and nice, and surprisingly considerate, but traveling to a place where she had no one and nowhere else to go – it sounded like a bad idea.
“We’ll take our private jet,” Ethan chimed in, not bothering to look up from his hunting magazine. “And, of course, you can ride it back here when you’re ready to leave.”
See, it was lines like that: ‘ready to leave.’ They had yet to give her a real date for this fancy party.
“Please!” James begged, blocking her cart as she went to push it to the next isle. “We can’t wait to show you off to everyone!”
“Who is ‘everyone?’” she asked, just the thought making her nervous.
“Oh, you know,” Ethan saved him, rolling up the magazine and tapping James on the back of the head with it. “Neighbors, business associates, clients…”
“So, people like you.”
James said “Yes!” at the same time that Ethan gave a firm “No.” The two friends looked at each other.
“You’ll fit right in, we promise!” James declared, recovering first. “Don’t even worry about bringing anything – we’ll take you shopping.”
“But how long will it be for?”
“Oh, let’s say a week?” Ethan said, finally sharing some sort of timetable.
“A week?” Aubrey repeated. “But I can’t be gone that long! Who’ll watch the library? And I only get two weeks off a year—”
“Don’t worry,” Ethan said. “I talked to dad. This trip will be filed under ‘business,’ so you can rest easy. Anyway, I believe someone named George will watch it for you until you return.”
Aubrey crossed her arms, staring the both of them down. George was a reputable man, an Air Force veteran who liked to volunteer around the library on weekends. It would make sense if he filled in for her. But a week? That was seven days of being stuck with the two Billionaire Best Friends in the same place, with nowhere to hide. She’d already handled them enough this past week, listening to their annoying first class opinions and subtle demands for attention, and it was with a sigh of relief that they parted ways every night. Could
she really do another?
“Aubrey, I promise you won’t regret it,” James said. “I mean, you haven’t regretted anything we’ve done so far, right?”
Aubrey sighed. “No. No, I haven’t.”
“Then it’s settled,” Ethan clasped his hands together. “Plane leaves tomorrow morning.”
The flight to New York was a relatively short one. Aubrey was glad for the overhead instructions to turn off her phone, as her sister hadn’t stopped texting her as to why exactly Aubrey had been invited to “The coolest city in the world.” Aubrey didn’t feel like dealing with that kind of drama while she was already trying to gather up her nerves to fly – even if it was on a private jet.
They landed in the airport just a few hours later, and really, Aubrey shouldn’t have been surprised by the limo, but she couldn’t help her gasp as she followed Ethan inside. It was just like the plane had been – spacious with a private mini bar.
During the drive, Ethan and James were nothing if not gentlemen. They offered her drinks, made numerous toasts to her adventurous spirit, and – once they arrived – held open doors if someone hadn’t already rushed to get it for them. Aubrey was starting to understand how the two Billionaire Best Friends had become accustomed to such an expected life of luxury.
The rumored apartment they shared turned out to be a top-floor penthouse, and it wasn’t even their only one. “This one is a secret,” Ethan shared. “It’s the one we use to host parties and the like. Otherwise, James and I both already have our own personal apartments.”
For a secret penthouse, it was certainly stuffed with the finest furniture and appliances. James gave her a tour while Ethan made a few phone calls, and Aubrey laughed when she realized they’d stuck her in the guest room wedged between theirs.
It wasn’t until the next day that she learned ‘shopping’ meant having a master seamstress make a house call for her measurements. From there, she was asked to look through multiple catalogues of custom dresses and suits. Regardless of how many Ethan and James were trying to make her get, she knew she just needed one for the party, so she chose a nice emerald floor-length gown. The seamstress approved.
