While there were no laws regulating abortion in Elizabethan England, there were very specific laws about homosexuality. The same was true then as is today: If you have enough money and influence, you can get away with almost anything. Those with the power were more open in their activities; those without the power lived their lives in secret. Someday I would like to give Girard his own happily ever after, but even if I give him a soul mate, their relationship would have to be hidden (which doesn’t seem very happy).
