“I can’t believe you… Have you been playing me this whole time? Was this a game to you two? Have I slept with him too?” I could see the hurt on Jacob’s face but I didn’t care he had just broken my heart.
“No, never… I promise you, it’s only been me… You have never been a game, I hardly see him, mainly just at the fights… Please, babe, you know me.”
“I thought I did.” I said quietly as the tears started escaping. I backed away from him and walked away.
“Rose, babe… Let’s talk about this.” Jacob pleaded, running after me. I stopped.
“You lied to me, there was another person out there, your other half and you didn’t tell me… I don’t understand why?”
“You are my other half… I need you to be able to breathe… I love you.”
“Don’t… Don’t you dare do that!” I screamed at him. “Don’t tell me you love me because you are scared to lose me.”
“I’m telling you because it’s the truth, I’ve wanted to tell you for ages but I was scared it was too soon… That you didn’t love me.”
“You have broken my heart… Leave me alone.” I turned around and walked away quickly. I knew that if I stopped or looked behind me that I would buckle and go back to him.
Chapter 22
I was laying on my bed with my back to my bedroom door, I knew one good thing about my parents is that they wouldn’t let Jacob up to see me. I had turned my phone off a couple of hours ago; he wouldn’t stop ringing me and sending me messages. I needed to sort all of this out in my head and I couldn’t do that with him bugging me.
Knock. Knock.
I looked over my shoulder and saw Bonnie walk into my room, she closed the door behind her.
“Hi, what are you doing here?” I asked as I sat up and crossed my legs.
“Jacob told me what happened… I was there with Matt.”
“So, are you and Matt a couple?” I tried to steer the conversation away from me.
“No, we aren’t. Nice try there, we are going to talk about you.” She sat down on the bed next to me and pulled me close to her. I lay my head on her shoulder and sobbed. My whole body hurt, I felt sick and I couldn’t stop crying. “Sshh, it’s ok. Let it all out.”
After crying for a few minutes I tried to pull myself together.
“How is he?” I asked. “Did you meet Joseph? Had you met him before?”
“He is in a bad way. I didn’t know anything about Joseph, Matt never mentioned him… He’s hot though.” She giggled.
“Of course he is, he looks like my boyfriend.”
“So, he is still your boyfriend?”
“I really don’t know… He hurt me… He lied… I’ve kissed Joseph, twice.” I screwed my face up thinking about it. I was going to get a name for myself, like Amelia.
“How were his kisses?” Bonnie’s face lit up as she asked me.
“Different to Jacob’s… Jacob and I have a connection which make the kisses and sex that much more incredible… Wait, you’re not thinking of hooking up with him?” Bonnie shrugged her shoulders. “What about Matt?”
“What about him? We are only having fun, no commitments.”
“He really likes you.”
“What are you going to do about Jacob?”
“I don’t want to talk about it.” I went to stand up and Bonnie held hold of my arm.
“Rose, he wants to see you… To talk to you… To explain.”
“What? Are you on his side now? Is this why you’re here?” I said, pulling my arm away from her and pacing in my room.
“No, I’m here because you are my best friend… I knew you would be upset.”
“I don’t want to talk to him… I can’t… Not yet.”
“Ok… Shall I pick you up for college in the morning?”
“Yes please, if you don’t mind?”
“Of course not, try and get some sleep.” She hugged me before she left and I climbed into bed. I picked my phone up, trying to decide whether or not to turn it back on. I was curious to see what Jacob had to say. I pressed the button on the top and watched as it powered up. After a few seconds it started beeping, alerting me to missed calls and text messages. I had twenty missed calls and ten text messages. I cleared the missed calls and my finger hovered over the text icon. I pressed it and saw that all the messages were from Jacob. I opened them one by one;
Please talk to me x
I meant it, I do love you x
Please let me explain x
Babe, please… Call me x
Rose, I am not giving up. I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you. x
I deleted the other messages, I couldn’t read anymore. I was a mess again and didn’t know what to do. My heart was telling me to talk to him and my head was saying he still lied, you kissed his brother. I turned my phone onto silent and attempted to get some sleep.
Chapter 23
Bonnie picked me up from college just like normal, before Jacob was around. I was tempted to go sick today, I really didn’t want to see him or his brother, but I wasn’t going to hide away. I needed to get on with my life no matter how hard it was going to be. It was finally lunch time and I was standing by the picnic benches talking to Karl. I was waiting for Bonnie so we could grab some lunch together.
“I don’t think I got many of those questions right, I don’t remember him saying we had a test.” I said to Karl.
“Yeah he did mention it…” Karl had stopped talking and was looking over my shoulder, I was about to look around when I felt a pair of hands on my hips. I stepped out of the way so Jacob’s hands fell away.
“What are you doing?” I asked Jacob, he was glaring at Karl not even looking at me.
“Just wanted to come and see my girl.”
“Hey man, we were just talking… See you around, Rose.” Karl hurried away and I made a move to walk away too.
“Babe, please.” Jacob pleaded.
I whirled around to face him. “Don’t call me that, I’m not yours, you can’t call me that anymore.”
“You are mine Rose, always will be.”
“Bye, Jacob.” I turned away and walked a couple of steps when I stopped and looked over my shoulder. “That’s if that’s who you are.” Jacob jumped in front of me.
“You know it’s me.”
“Do I?” I place my hands on my hips. I heard Jacob sigh and then I noticed he looked over my shoulder.
“Yo, J.” I looked over my shoulder and saw Joseph look up. “Come here.” Joseph kissed a girl as she practically threw herself at him. I saw him walking towards us smirking. “Touch her.” Jacob said.
“What!” I yelled and Joseph’s smirk got bigger.
“Not like that idiot… Hold her hand.” Joseph grabbed my hand and I looked at Jacob. “You feel anything?” I knew what he meant; he was asking if I felt a spark, electricity. I shook my head; I didn’t feel anything other than a warm unfamiliar hand touching mine. Jacob then grabbed hold of my other hand and I couldn’t help but gasp, I tried hiding it behind a cough but by the look on Jacob’s face he had already heard it.
“I know you feel that… We have a connection; always have, from the first moment we met. Your body knows when I’m near, it reacts to me.” He points at himself. “Not my brother. You know when it’s me kissing you, it didn’t feel right when he kissed you, did it?” I shook my head. Joseph had wandered off and it was just the two of us alone. Jacob placed his hands on either side of my face.
“I love you.” He said, just before he stepped forward and kissed me. For a second I melted into him and kissed him back. Until reality hit and I stepped away from him slapping his hands away from me.
“No, you still lied to me… What else have you lied about?”
“Nothing, I promise you.” He looked how I was feeling, broken.
“Why?” I whispered.
“Why?” Jacob asked confused.
“Why didn’t you tell me you had a twin brother? When you knew he had kissed
me…” Jacob cut me off.
“I wanted you to fall in love with me, see me for me. People love to be with us because we’re identical twins… Joseph has a bad boy side that girls are drawn too. I felt different around you and I didn’t want to lose you to him.”
“I can’t do this now… I thought you knew me better than that… Then you broke my heart. I don’t know if I can trust you.”
“Please, Rose, don’t walk away. I can mend your heart; don’t give up on us… We belong together. I can see the big picture with you, marriage and lots of little Roses running around.” I sobbed as I wanted all that too. I was hurt and felt broken and I needed time on my own. I turned around and walked away from him, tears streaming down my face. My head was racing I wanted him just as much as he wanted me and I wanted the future he talked about. He needed to know that I couldn’t just forgive him so easily.
“Rose… Rose.” I heard Bonnie calling my name. I didn’t stop walking. I needed to get away from everyone. She ran to catch up with me. “Where are you going? Aren’t we having lunch?” She pulled at my arm to stop me from walking. One look at my face said it all. “Oh hun, come here.” She pulled me into her arms. I let my head fall on her shoulder and I cried like a baby. “Let’s get you home.” I shook my head.
“You have got class… I can walk; the fresh air will do me good.”
“You sure?” I nodded. “See you tomorrow for your meal? You will finally be eighteen.”
“Yes, I will need the alcohol… See you tomorrow. Love you.”
“Love you.” Bonnie kissed me on the cheek and I walked home, slowly. My mind was racing and I just wanted it to shut down, just for a couple of hours so I could get some rest.
Chapter 24
Jacob
I was lying on the sofa, my feet resting on the arm as I was too long for it. I was exhausted; I hadn’t had much sleep since Rose had left me. My room was only a few steps away but I couldn’t find the energy.
Knock. Knock.
Someone was knocking on the front door, Matt was here he could go and answer it.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
Whoever was at the door was banging louder this time. I had no intention of getting up to answer it. I was exhausted from not sleeping, I wanted Rose with me in my bed. I couldn’t believe I had managed to fuck up our relationship. Why couldn’t I have just told her about Joseph?
“COME IN.” I called out, loud enough so whoever it was could hear me without me having to move. I heard the door open and Bonnie call out.
“Hello.”
“I’m in here, Matt’s in his room.” I looked up and saw she was walking towards me.
“You ok?” She asked.
“Nope… I’m surprised you’re being nice to me actually.”
“You did a shitty thing and I love Rose to bits… But I can also see how much you two should be together.” She shrugged her shoulders. I didn’t have a clue what to say to that.
“Knock, knock.” Joseph called out as he walked through the front door. I sat up on the sofa and saw that he was eyeing Bonnie up. She was sat on the coffee table facing me. “Moved on already?” He smirked.
“Fuck off, this is Bonnie, Rose’s best friend.” I snapped at him.
“Well, hello.” Joseph said making his way closer to her.
“Wow, you two do look alike.” Bonnie said. “I mean I saw you briefly the other night, but…”
“That’s why they call us identical twins… I would have remembered seeing you.” Jospeh chuckled, winking at her.
“Hey, babe.” Matt said as he entered the front room. He walked up to Bonnie, pulled her up and gave her a kiss that was telling Joseph to back off. I had to chuckle as I would have done the same thing. Matt sat on the two seater sofa and pulled Bonnie down with him as Joseph sat next to me.
“So, I bet you two got up to no good when you were young?” Bonnie asked us.
“Oh yeah, we use to do the whole swapping thing.” Joseph laughed.
“With girls?” Bonnie asked, giggling.
“What? NO!” I shouted.
“Calm down bro…” He looked at Bonnie. “In class mainly… Jacob was always better at history than me.” He shrugged his shoulders and winked at her. She blushed slightly and Matt must have noticed as he sat up, wrapped his arm around her and said;
“Babe, shall we go to my room?”
“No, we’re talking… So Joseph, do you have a girlfriend?”
“Him? A girlfriend? Man whore that one.” Matt said to Bonnie chuckling.
“Really?” Bonnie asked. I couldn’t tell if that was good news to her or bad.
“That’s me, no chick is ever gonna tie me down… If you weren’t taken… Mmm, what I’d like to do to you... Tying you down would be a start…” Joseph said, eye fucking Bonnie. She sat up a bit straighter and licked her lips
“I’m not taken. Matt and I are just having fun… Right Matt?”
“Um… Yeah, kinda.” Matt looked pissed off. He had spoken to me about how much he liked Bonnie; he thought he was finally getting somewhere with her, especially with how she had reacted after the fight when I was in hospital and she thought it was him. They hadn’t been apart much since then, but it was starting to look like she was drawn to my brother, which I was afraid of with Rose.
“Bonnie, how’s Rose?” I ask, trying to change the subject.
“Um… Not good… Amelia doesn’t help… She is still going on about you.” Bonnie shrugged.
“Oh, that reminds me, I hooked up with this girl…” Joseph started saying.
“We don’t wanna hear it.” I told him.
“Not even when I tell you she kept calling out your name?” He asked.
“What? Did you not correct her?” I fumed.
“No, it was more fun this way… She kept saying how she knew she would get to sleep with you and she couldn’t wait to tell her sister.”
“Who the hell was it? I have to tell Rose. I can’t have her thinking I’ve slept with someone else.” I was starting to panic. What if Rose hears about this and thinks I have moved on? I need to talk to her.
“Didn’t get her name.” Joseph said as he stood up and walked into the kitchen.
“Well, what did she look like? Age?” Bonnie called out, so he could still hear her. A couple of seconds later he walked back into the front room drinking a beer.
“She said she goes to our college, so seventeen or eighteen I guess… Smoking hot body, tall, long dark hair.” He described. Bonnie looked at me and I guessed we were thinking the same thing.
“She probably won’t remember much, she was as high as a kite.” Joseph added.
“Is this her?” Bonnie asked, showing Joseph a picture on her phone.
“Yeah that’s her… You know her?”
“That’s Amelia, Rose’s sister.” Bonnie told him.
“Mmm… Great fuck.” He told us. He looked like he was remembering and if he got a boner in front of us all I was going to kick his ass.
“She sure is.” Matt added. Bonnie’s head snapped around to look at him. She was glaring at him.
“What?” He asked. “Like you said we are only messing around.” He shrugged his shoulders and she stood up, slapped him round the face and mumbled.
“Jerk.” As she grabbed her bag and headed for the front door.
“Bonnie, help me… I need to see Rose… She is everything to me.” I pleaded, following her to the door.
“I’ll try and get her to call you… But we’ve got her birthday meal tomorrow night… I don’t wanna ruin that.”
“Yeah ok, thanks.” Bonnie left not saying goodbye to Matt or Joseph. I turned back to the guys. “Where are they going for her meal?” I asked Matt. I was sure Bonnie would have mentioned it at some point.
“Cookie fortune… You can’t just turn up there.” Matt said to me.
“Wanna bet.” I smirked and left them to it while I sorted out my plan to win Rose back.
Chapter 25
&nbs
p; Rose
Mum, Dad, Amelia and Bonnie had taken me to the Cookie Fortune for a meal, to celebrate my eighteenth birthday. It was a lovely meal and I tried my best to enjoy it but I just couldn’t stop thinking about Jacob. I wondered how different the day would have been if we had still been together. I bet he would have spoilt me, lavished me in kisses and cuddles all day long and I would have opted for him keeping me in his bedroom. He loved to pleasure me until I screamed, the thoughts alone were making me hot and wet. I smiled at the thought and then I felt sick when I remembered how much I missed him and how that wasn’t going to happen.
“Right, well Mum and I are going to go home and leave you girls to your night of partying.” Dad said as he stood up and got ready to leave.
“What are your plans? Now Rose, go steady, don’t drink too much… Amelia keep an eye on your sister.” Mum said. I rolled my eyes and looked at Bonnie; if Amelia was in charge of what we did we would be drunk, high and spreading our legs for the first guy who noticed us. That was not going to happen.
“I promise you she will have a birthday she will never forget.” Amelia told Mum and Dad as she smiled. Once Mum and Dad had left, we got in a taxi and headed over to The Archer for some drinks and dancing. I wanted to have a guy free night, I was no-where near over Jacob and I didn’t know if I wanted to be and I didn’t want some guys hands all over my body either. We walked in the door and up to the bar. I ordered us some drinks and noticed Bonnie was looking around as if she was looking for someone. She nudged me with her elbow.
“Incoming.” She said. I looked around and saw Jacob heading towards us. I knew it was him, although Joseph and him were identical there was something about Jacob that was different to me, he was hotter. When he looked at me my body melted, I could feel the zing in the air when our eyes connected, I had never felt this way about anyone else. He smiled and my body betrayed me. My panties were already wet and my breath was heavy and I felt myself wanting to kiss him.
