My Other Baby Mama Box Set Page 17

by Dani Littlepage

Even though he had to stare at them ivory colored walls and was surrounded by niggas all day, Ramsey didn’t feel like he was away from home at all. His family came to see him every week and he stayed busy just like he did when was on the streets. There was more than enough money on his books and he had enough to food to last him for months. Although he had adjusted to his surroundings, he missed being home with his loved ones and couldn’t wait until he was released from prison. His hearing was a month away and he was hoping that he would be going home soon.

After a busy week, Ramsey was glad when the weekend came because it was time for his weekend visit with Cashmere and Cassi. He had spoken to her at seven that morning and she informed him that she would be there on time for their visit. Each cell block had specific days and times that they could have visits and Cashmere never missed a Sunday and she stayed for the whole two hours. Ramsey washed, got dressed and chilled until it was time for his visit.

He was looking through Unique magazine when Manny came to his cell. Ramsey had a gut feeling that his cousin was keeping something from him but he didn’t know what. He wasn’t going to pressure him to talk because if he wanted Ramsey to know, Manny would tell him when he was ready.

“Wassup, cuz?” Ramsey sat up on his bunk closing the magazine.

“Man, a lot. That’s why I came to holla at you before you went out on ya visit.”

  “What’s goin’ on man?”

“You remember when I told you about the chick that I was tryin’ to get in contact with?”

  “Yeah.”

“Well, she reached out to me when I was locked up in the other prison and we’ve been rockin’ ever since. She told me I was the father of her baby and I’ve been providin’ for them. Long story short, my baby mama is Baylynn, man.”

“What the fuck!” Ramsey jumped to his feet.

“Ramsey, bro. Believe me when I tell you that I didn’t know she was ya bitch, man. We linked up a year and some change ago and she told me she had nigga but I didn’t care. We just used to fuck and go our separates way. I’ve been tryin’ to figure out the best way to tell you this but no time seemed to be right. I apologize for this but believe me when I tell you that I didn’t know she was going to set you up. I swear.”

“You gotta be fuckin’ kiddin’ me, yo! I can’t believe this shit! My ex bitch that I wanna kill six ways from Sunday is ya fuckin’ baby mama? This shit is wild!”

“I know how you feel, cuz. Believe me when I tell you. That’s why it’s been so hard for me to break this to you. You know you my nigga, man and I wouldn’t do no fucked-up shit like this intentionally.

“So, why did you decide to tell me all of this now?”

“Because she’s comin’ up here with Brandi to visit and I didn’t want you to snap when you saw me talkin’ to her,” Manny confessed.

  “Fuck!”

Ramsey wasn’t prepared for the bomb his cousin just dropped on him. He couldn’t believe that his cousin and the bitch he spent five years of his life with had a child together. Learning this information only increased his hate and disgust for Baylynn. He shouldn’t have been as mad as he was because she was a thot and most of them didn’t have any limits. There was no doubt in his mind that Manny was going to ask Ramsey to let her live and being as though that he was his favorite cousin, more so like his brother and it pained him to have to let that bitch go free.

Minutes later, a correctional officer called Ramsey and Manny by their last name letting them know their visitors had arrived. They both looked at each other before they followed the officer to the visiting room. Ramsey wasn’t cool with the fact that he had to stop his search for Baylynn but he didn’t know how the rest of the family would react when he told them the news about her being Manny’s baby mama.

Cashmere’s mind was all over the place as she sat in the visiting room waiting for Ramsey to come in. All she could think about was the visit she had with her grandmother and the information that her mother shared with her that caused her to storm out in the middle of the conversation. No matter what she tried to do to block out the conversation that took place, it always came back to her. She hadn’t shared the information with anybody, not even Tamia because she didn’t want to give her the story. She knew she was going to have to face her mother again very soon, but she wasn’t sure if she wanted to know the rest of the story.

As she sat at one of the tables in the back of the visiting room, she looked around before her eyes landed on the clock which read 12:40 pm. She had only been waiting for five minutes but it felt like she was waiting longer than that. She heard a door open and a man entered the visiting area. He was light skinned with a low cut and was attractive. The man resembled Ramsey a little but he wasn’t him. He watched the man hug the girl who had long blonde weave and nice figure. Cashmere was about to look away when she noticed the baby she was holding. Her mouth hit the floor when she realized the baby was Brandi. She had spent time with Brandi whenever she took Cassi to visit Renee on Friday’s. It didn’t take long for her to figure out that the bitch holding the baby was Baylynn. Cashmere felt herself getting up from the table but seconds later, she felt a hand on her shoulder.

“Sit down, Cash,” Ramsey spoke softly in her ear.

Cashmere looked at Cassi who was smiling from ear to ear. She didn’t want to cause a scene in front of her daughter. So, she did what she was told.

“Da-da!” Cassi raised her arms in the air and he picked her up smothering her face with kisses before he sat down.

Cashmere glanced over to her right once more and stared at the bitch that framed her man then returned her focus toward Ramsey.

“Ramsey, you need to explain what the fuck is going right because I’m about to lose it,” she exclaimed through gritted teeth.

“You ain’t gonna believe this shit but Baylynn is my cousin’s baby mama.”

“Get the fuck out of here! The nigga she is sitting with is your cousin for real?”

“Yeah, bae. My cousin just explained this shit to me before we came down here. I still can’t believe the shit either.” He shook his head.

“So, what does that mean as far as the plan?”

“It means that I gotta call that shit off. Manny is like my brother and if we weren’t as close as we are, I would still have that bitch killed but on the strength of him, I gotta let her live, Cash.”

“This is some bullshit, Ramsey. If you want to call the plan off, that’s fine but when I leave out of here, I’m gonna handle that bitch. Do you hear me?” she pounded her fist on the table startling Cassi.

“Damn girl. I ain’t never seen this side of you before. You sexy as hell when you all fired up.” He licked his lips seductively.

  She couldn’t help but blush.

“So, how is everythin’ goin’ with you? You never told me how your visit went with your grandma.” He sat Cassi next to him.

“I thought I was going there to see my grandmother but got the shock of my life when my mother showed up.” She sighed.

  “Are you serious?”

“Yeah. We all started talking and my mother started explaining to me the real reason behind my dad leaving and I couldn’t take it. So, I got up and walked out. My grandma called me later that night but I did answer.”

“So, what are you gonna do now? Are you gonna leave it alone or move forward?”

“I think, I might just leave it alone but a part of me wants to know the truth still. I don’t know, bae.” Cashmere shook her head.”

Ramsey grabbed her hands and they gazed into each other’s eyes for a moment. Cashmere’s eyes shifted to the empty space next to Ramsey and instantly panicked.

“Ramsey, where is Cassi?” She began looking around for her baby.

She looked in Baylynn’s direction and saw Cassi walking towards them. Ramsey spotted her and jogged over to get her before Cassi could make it to the table. Cashmere watched as Cassi struggled to get away from him. Her eyes landed on Brandi an
d she was trying to get away from her Daddy as well. Cashmere locked eyes with Baylynn and instantly became angry all over again. The men put both of their girls down and watched them as they walked over and hugged each other. Cashmere’s anger melted away a little as she realized that her daughter missed Brandi. When they thought that they were sisters, Ramsey made sure that both girls knew each other but they haven’t seen each other since Ramsey broke up with Baylynn.

After the girls had their moment, Ramsey carried Cassi back over to their table. Cashmere and Ramsey spent the rest of the visit boo loving and talking about baby names for their unborn little one. Cashmere blushed as Ramsey told her how much he loved her and how he appreciated her for being by his side. He promised that he was going to do right by her when he was released from prison and she responded by telling him that she was going to hold him to his promise.

When it was time to go, Cassi began to cry like she always did at the end of the visit. She could tell by the expression on Ramsey’s face that he was hurt by her tears. They exchanged hugs and I love you’s before she exited the visiting room, out the jail and to her car. Cashmere saw Baylynn standing by her car like she was waiting for someone and when she spotted Cashmere, she walked over to her. With their babies in their hand, they stood eye to eye, waiting for the other to talk.

“Can you tell Ramsey thank you for me? Manny told me that he was gonna get his goons to fall back and leave me alone and I wanted to thank him for that.”

“If you really want to thank him, how about you do something to get him the fuck out of jail,” Cashmere hissed. “You know he doesn’t deserve to be here. He has a daughter and an unborn child he needs to be out here raising. Ramsey can’t raise his kids from behind them walls!”

“Look, I know what I did was fucked up and I feel bad about it now but not bad enough to get him the fuck out. He kicked me out of our home to be with you and left me to fend for myself and my daughter. I was out here on my own. I wasn’t gonna let him be happy with the bitch he cheated on me with and have the family I once had. That shit was dead. I can’t have my family again until my nigga gets outta here. So, I guess ya ass gonna have to wait too,” Baylynn smirked.

“You ain’t nothing but a bitter ass thot and that’s all you’re ever going to be. You didn’t love Ramsey. You just couldn’t stand to see him with anyone else but you because if you really cared about him, you wouldn’t have been out here selling pussy behind his back and getting pregnant by another nigga that just so happens to be his fucking cousin. You want to be mad at somebody? Be mad at your got damn self because nobody did shit to you but you! And if you step one foot inside that courtroom the day of his hearing, you’re going to regret it for the rest of your miserable life! Now get the fuck away from my car before I get arrested out here!” Cashmere expressed with anger.

Cashmere and Baylynn stared each other down one last time before she walked back to her car. Cashmere watched her until she got in her car and pulled off. After strapping her baby in the seat, she got behind the wheel bringing the car to life. Driving out of the parking lot, she hit the expressway doing eighty miles per hour all the way home. As she pulled in the parking lot of her apartment complex, she spotted Tamia sitting in her car and parked next to her car. When she got out of the car, Cashmere knocked on Tamia’s car window to get her attention and she smiled.

“Girl, I’ve been blowing your phone up for two hours. Where you been at?”

“I was at the prison visiting Ramsey and I turned my phone off. What’s going on?” Cashmere quizzed as she watched Tamia get Cassi out her car seat.

“I just had to come over here and tell you what I found out about our parents.”

“I got some shit to tell you too. About our parents and Ramsey’s ex.”

  “Aww shit now.”

They walked into the apartment complex, rode the elevator to the second floor, unlocked the front door and entered the apartment. After hanging up their coats, they sat down on the couch and got the conversation started.

“So, what did find out about our parents?” Tamia inquired as she removed Cassi’s outerwear.

“Well, I went to see my grandmother a few days to ask her if she knew about our sister and was shocked when my mother showed up.”

  Tamia gasped loudly.

“I know but just listen. After my mother told me how much she missed me and how sorry she was for leaving me, I asked her about our unknown sister and she told me that she lived somewhere in Philly and that her mother was a prostitute. She said that dad slept with the woman a few times and when she got pregnant, he denied her because this happened around the time that he was trying to become a judge and he didn’t want anyone or anything interfering with him getting that spot. My mother told me that was the real reason behind him walking out of my life. He wanted to be viewed as the perfect man with a happy marriage and no illegitimate children. So, he walked away from me and my mom. She was trying to tell me more but I walked out because I couldn’t hear anymore.” Cashmere fought back tears.

“That’s the same thing my mother told me. I’m so sorry, Cash.”

“Did she tell you anything else about her mother or the child?” she sniffled.

“All she told me was that the prostitute that accused dad of impregnating her used the baby to blackmail him into giving her money and if he didn’t, she was going to ruin his career. My mom recently found out that he was still sending her money after all these years. She also told me that dad isn’t sure if the baby is his or not but he didn’t want to take any chances,” Tamia confessed.

“I think we should just let this shit go, Tamia. Trying to find our sister has done nothing but hurt everyone more than they already were. I don’t think I can handle any more of this.” Cashmere got up from the couch and walked into the kitchen.

“I can’t argue with that and I guess it’s for the best. I’m tired of seeing my mother cry and all dad does is work and keep his distance because he hates the pain he caused my mother.” Tamia placed Cassi in her play pen before walking into the kitchen.

“Tamia, have you told dad about me yet?”

“My mother beat me to the punch. He asked about you and I informed him of all your accomplishments including little Cassi. I showed him pictures of y’all and I want to say it brought tears to his eyes.”

Cashmere smiled a little as she poured herself a glass of lemonade.

“I don’t know about you but after finding out all of this, I’m starting to dislike dad more and more.”

“I know that dad made a lot of mistakes. Especially walking away from his children because of his career but what’s done is done, Cash and I believe that he’s paying for his mistakes. You should try to reach out to him. Maybe he can help with getting Ramsey out of jail.”

“I’ll think about.” She grabbed the grapes and the strawberries from the fridge.

They walked back over to the couch, turned on the TV and tuned into the movie Stomp the Yard while Cashmere filled her sister in on what happened at the prison and the conversation she had with Baylynn in the parking lot. When she was finished giving her sister the tea, Tamia’s mouth hit the floor.

“That bitch got some nerve. OOOO! We need to find that bitch and whoop that ass!”

“Right. Ramsey said he wasn’t going to kill her. He ain’t said shit about an ass whooping.”

  They both laughed.

Cashmere and Tamia chilled and watched movies for the rest of the night. Not wanting to go home, Tamia spent the night and Cashmere enjoyed the company. With her mind filled with many thoughts, Cashmere didn’t know what to do about any of them. She didn’t know if she wanted to make amends or just let things go back to the way they were. She had so many unanswered questions and she wasn’t sure if she wanted to know the answers to them. Tamia’s words began to ring in her head about her reaching out to their father about getting Ramsey out of jail but quickly rejected the thought. She couldn’t see their father doing a favor for the daughter he
walked away from. So, she left it alone and tuned back into the TV.

As Baylynn tore up the highway, her anger was boiling over which had her on the verge of exploding. Replaying the conversation, she had with Cashmere, she couldn’t believe that bitch had the nerve to talk to her like that. Other than her being called a bitter thot, she was angry because a bitch she didn’t know anything about had checked her ass and the truth behind her words, only added fuel to the already burning fire. Baylynn had only seen pictures of Cashmere and she could tell that she was pretty from the pictures but seeing the beautiful woman in person made her feel a little insecure about herself. Especially since the drugs she was using had caused changes to her body.

The ringing of her cell phone brought her back to reality. She glanced at her phone and saw that it was her blackmailer calling her. With her earphones in her ear, she pushed the talk button and waited for the person on the other end to speak.

“Drop the money off at the front desk of the Embassy Suites hotel in Center City. Tell the receptionist it’s for the person in room 325 and leave. You got that?” the disguised voice instructed.

  “Yeah.”

“Good and don’t try no slick shit. I got eyes on you, hoe.”

The call ended and Baylynn’s anger had transitioned into fear, which was a feeling that she had gotten used to. Just when she thought that she was free to stop living in fear, the brief phone call reminded her that she wasn’t in the clear at all. On the verge of tears, she thought of her life and the mess she had made of it. Her life had been a mess from the moment she decided to start selling pussy at the tender age of thirteen and it went downhill from there. Her life was filled with good moments and memories but the overall outcome of her life wasn’t anything to brag about.
