When she arrived at their destination, Cashmere slowly drove up the stone pathway, drove around the circle and parked. Cashmere killed the engine, got out of the car and gazed at the mansion like home. Fresh cut grass and manicured bushes decorated the front lawn and surrounded the house. Frozen in place, Tamia grabbed Cashmere by the hand leading the way to the front door. She rung the door bell and seconds later, Renee answered the door with a smile. They hugged Renee as they entered the house and Cashmere was stunned as she admired the inside of the house.
“Hey y’all.” Ryan approached them and hugged them both.
“Oh my goodness, Ryan. Who’s house is this? This shit is beautiful.”
“You’ll find that out soon enough. You look so beautiful with your baby bump.” Ryan took her jacket off admiring her outfit.
“Thank you.” She blushed. “This is all Tamia’s work right here.”
“Well, you know I had to make sure my sister looked good at all cost.”
The women walked into the kitchen where Tiffany, Nick and Randall were as well as man she didn’t recognize. Randall was holding Cassi and she placed a kiss on her cheek before she greeted her loved ones with hugs as Ryan stood by the unknown man.
“Cashmere, this is my friend, Nysir Capers. Nysir, this is my best friend and sister Cashmere.” Ryan beamed.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you.” She extended her hand.
“Same here.” He shook her hand.
“So, how long have you two been dating?”
“For a month and half. I know it’s a little soon for family gatherings but I figured the sooner the better.” Ryan smiled as she gazed at her date.
“Don’t they look cute together?” Tiffany stood beside her.
“Yeah. She looks really happy.” Cashmere smiled.
Before she could say another word, someone came up behind her covering her eyes making everything dark.
“What the fuck! Y’all better stop playing with me. Whoever this is, let me go.” She tried remove the hands from her eyes but they wouldn’t budge.
“Not until you guess who it is first.” Tamia giggled.
Cashmere continued to struggle until she smelled a familiar scent, which made her freeze in place. It was the scent of Versace Cologne and it was Ramsey’s favorite. As she continued to breath in the scent, her heartbeat increased and a chill crept up her spine. Ramsey was the only man that sent these feelings through her body and she knew it had to be him.
“Ramsey?”
At the mention of his name, her vision was clear and she quickly turned around to see who was behind her. When she realized that it was Ramsey indeed, she couldn’t contain her excitement.
“Oh, my God! Ramsey! Baby, you’re home!” she threw her arms around his neck hugging him tightly.
They hugged each other for a moment before they engaged in a passionate kiss that seemed to last forever. Cashmere couldn’t believe that the man she loved was finally in her arms. Although she visited him all the time in prison, it wasn’t the same as him being home. She got to hold and kiss him for as long as she wanted to without anyone telling them to cut it short. Words couldn’t describe how happy she was to have him home and she wasn’t going to take it for granted.
“I’m glad you happy to see a nigga.” He licked his lips as he eyed her seductively.
“You know I’m happy to see you, bae. So, this is why you didn’t tell me when you were coming home? You wanted to surprise me, huh?”
“Yeah.” He chuckled.
“So, this party is for you?”
“Actually, Cash. This party is for us.”
“What are you talking about, Ramsey?”
“I wanted to wait until we had dinner to do this but I can’t wait.” Ramsey spoke as he guided Cashmere in the middle of the kitchen floor and everyone gathered around.
“Cashmere, for the past three years, our relationship had always been a secret because of the situation I was in and even when you wanted to leave my ass, you still held me down. Before I got booked, I asked you to make me a promise. I asked you that if I went to jail, that you would ride with me no matter how long my bid was and you kept ya promise. To add to that, you’ve been loyal to me since day one, you’re a terrific mother to our daughter and for that I feel like you deserve what I’m about to give you and then some.”
Cashmere’s eyes widen as Ramsey got down on one knee pulling a ring box out his suit jacket pocket.
“Cashmere Edwards, will you marry a nigga?”
She couldn’t help but laugh at his proposal and so did everyone else.
“Yes Ramsey Miller. Yes, I will marry you.” She smiled.
He slipped the three carat Princess cut diamond ring on her finger and kissed her as soon as he got on his feet. Cashmere tried her best not to cry but she was so overwhelmed with emotion that she couldn’t help it. All of their family congratulated them on their new engagement. They posed for pictures and made small talk before Renee announced that it was time to eat dinner. Everyone sat down at the long rectangular table and the food that was displayed on the table looked like it was made for a small army. Taking a moment to say grace, everyone fixed their plates and chowed down on the delicious food.
As they laughed and talked, there was nothing but good vibes in the air. Everyone was having a good time and was happy for a number of reason but no one was happier than Cashmere. As much as she prayed for the day that Ramsey would propose to her, she had doubts that that day would ever come. After being a secret for three years and coming second to a thot made her question if they would even have a future together. Cashmere often questioned why she held on to Ramsey the way she did and the answer she always came up with was love. She knew that Ramsey wasn’t perfect but the way that he cared for her and their daughter was enough for her. She never doubted if Ramsey loved her or not because she knew he did and that night proved it even more.
The party lasted until midnight and it would have lasted longer if Renee didn’t kick everybody out. Cashmere hugged and kiss Tamia goodbye and she did the same with the rest of the family. She was worried about how her sister would get home but when Nick volunteered to take her, she knew that he had something else on his mind but she didn’t comment on it. She just told them to be safe. Once everyone was gone, Ramsey took Cashmere by the hand leading the way up the stairs. They walked by a few bedrooms before reaching the master bedroom that was decked out with expensive bedroom furniture, seventy-inch smart tv, home theater system and lamps that rested on the nightstands. Ramsey removed her heels and dress before lifting her up on the bed. Stripping down to his boxers, he leaped onto the bed next to her and stared into her eyes causing her to smile.
“Why are you staring at me like that, bae?” she blushed.
“You just don’t know how much I missed you, Cashmere.”
“Awww baby.” Cash’s smiled widened.
“I’m serious. Being in there gave me a lot of time to think shit over and I was wrong for the way I treated you. I mean, I know I provided for you and our daughter but only being there sometimes wasn’t fair to you. I didn’t realize how much I put you through and how bad I hurt you. I was doing all the right shit with the wrong bitch and havin’ time to reflect on it, I was a damn fool, baby. When they told me I have to sit in jail until my hearin’ date, I thought you were gonna break ya promise for sure but seein’ how you were ridin’ with me while I was in there plus three years, there is no doubt in my mind that you deserve that ring. I’m gonna spend the rest of my life makin’ it up to you and our little ones.” He rubbed her stomach. “I love you, Cashmere Miller.”
“I love you too, Ramsey Miller.” She pecked his lips. “I really love this house. This shit is like a mansion.”
“I’m glad you love it because it’s ours.” He smiled.
“You lying!”
“No, I’m not. This is our home until you decide you wanna move somewhere else.”
“Oh my God, Ramsey!”
She threw
her arms around him and their tongues danced in each other’s mouths. Unsnapping her bra, Ramsey tossed it to the floor and massaged her breast before taking one into his mouth. Ramsey licked, sucked and teased her nipple with his tongue before lying her on her back. He ripped her panties off her as he placed kisses from her neck down to her already wet pussy. Arriving at his destination, he dived in and began to show her how much he missed her. Cashmere’s body was going through a series of emotions as her man devoured her center. The moans that escaped her lips were of pure ecstasy and she couldn’t believe that it was her that was moaning the way she was. It had been months since she had sex and her body was long overdue for some loving. Ramsey was the best when it came to his head game but it felt twenty times better to Cashmere.
Feeling her legs shake, Ramsey worked his tongue at a rapid pace as she came all over his face and he didn’t stop licking until she left a puddle on the bed. After her third orgasm, Ramsey removed his boxers exposing his long, thick shaft and sliding into her wetness.
“Fuck!” she hissed as Ramsey pushed deep inside her.
“You wetter than mothafucka! Shit!”
Spreading her legs wider, he began with long slow strokes before he increased his pace but being cautious not to hurt Cashmere in process. Cashmere matched him stroke for stroke and the grunts, groans, moans and cuss words that escaped Ramsey’s mouth sent a tingle threw her spine and made her go even harder. She missed how good Ramsey felt inside her and she wanted to feel all of him. Her moans grew louder as Ramsey pounded harder and faster, which meant he was about to bust and so was Cashmere. A few minutes later, they reached their climax and took a minute to catch their breath.
Once their breathing was back to normal, Cashmere crawled to the other side of the before collapsing on her side. Ramsey removed the comforter from the bed tossing it on the floor then climbed back into bed. Wrapping his arms around his wife to be, he pulled her close to him. Cashmere kissed his hand before she got comfortable. She wanted to go another round but she was too drained and worn out from the work they had put in. It wasn’t long before she drifted off to sleep feeling good. Not because of the sex she had encountered but because she was sleeping in her man’s arms again.

Since entering the New Year, things had been looking up for Baylynn. She didn’t expect to get a call back from any of the jobs she applied to. So, when she received a phone call from an employer a week later asking her to come in for an interview, she was shocked. Baylynn agreed to the interview at the date and time the employer gave her and when the call ended, she was excited about possibly starting a new job. The phone call lead to Baylynn making some changes in her life from her wardrobe to her slight drug addiction. She wanted to be respected and didn’t want to be judge by the way she dressed or looked. If she wanted people to look at her differently, she had to carry herself in a different manner.
In addition to the changes she was making, she debated with herself on if she was ready for a relationship, which led to thoughts of Manny. When she first contacted him, he was only supposed to be a money source for Baylynn, not a love interest. She didn’t want to be involved with a nigga that was doing a bid because she just wanted to be free at the time but since they got to know each other better, she was thinking that they could actually be together as a family. Baylynn wanted to express her feelings to Manny but she didn’t; she was too afraid. She didn’t know how he was going to respond to her because of what she did to Ramsey and she didn’t think she was strong enough to handle the possibility of rejection.
In the midst of all the positive things that was taking place in her life, she still couldn’t decide if she wanted to respond to Tamia’s Facebook message she received the day after Christmas. Baylynn still couldn’t believe that Cashmere was her sister and she feared that if she reached out to Tamia, that it would only make things worse. Baylynn only thought about the negative that could come from her communicating with Tamia and not the positive, which was reuniting Brandi with Cassi, which was her cousin. For the sake of her daughter, she put her pride to the side and responded to Tamia’s message and agreed to meet with her. After learning that Tamia would have her niece that weekend, Baylynn told her that she would bring her daughter with her, which turned their meet and greet into a play date. They agreed to meet at an indoor play area for toddlers that was an hour away from them. She neglected to tell Tamia that she knew who her niece was but she decided to reveal that information when they saw each other.
It was the middle of the week and Baylynn woke up early to get ready for her interview that was set for ten o’clock that morning. After a long, hot shower, she got dressed in a white long sleeve ruffled blouse, black knee length pencil skirt, black stockings, black Christian Louboutin heels and a black blazer. She pinned her up in a bun and put on her small rose gold hoop earrings along with her rose gold Michael Kors watch. After admiring herself in the mirror, she filled her Michael Kors purse with her wallet, phone and charger before leaving her room. When she walked downstairs, she did a 360 spin in front of her mom who was sitting on the couch putting on Brandi winter gear.
“How do I look, ma?”
“You look very professional, Baylynn. I’ve never seen you dress like this before. I need to take a picture.” Fateema chuckled.
“Aww thank you.” She smiled. “I’m nervous as hell. I’ve never been on job interview before. What am I supposed to say?”
“Just answer their questions the best way you can. I would tell you to lie a little bit but that could back fire on you at some point and I don’t want you to start off wrong.” Fateema laughed. “Look the interviewer straight in the eye while you’re talkin’, be sincere, honest and polite. If you do that, you’ll be fine.”
“Be polite, sincere, honest and look ‘em straight in the eye. Got it.”
“Oh and speak proper english, girl. Don’t be usin’ no slang.”
“Right.”
“Before you go, let me get a picture real quick. I might not see you dressed like this again.”
Baylynn laughed as her mother picked up her phone and snapped a picture of her. Grabbing her coat, she put it on, put Brandi on her hip and left the house. After Brandi was strapped in, she got behind the wheel and started the engine. She set up her GPS before backing out of the driveway and headed towards Brandi’s childcare center. Baylynn kissed her baby girl good-bye when she arrived before getting her settled in the toddler room. When Brandi started playing with the other children, she left the center and jumped back into her car. Twenty minutes later, she pulled into the parking garage that was across the street from the building she had to go into. Taking a few deep breaths, Baylynn got out the car locking the doors behind her and strolled in the building with confidence.
After forty-five minutes of answering question pertaining to her past work experience, educational background, her availability and the hours she could work, her confidence had faded. The interviewer told her that they would give her a call by Friday if they wanted her to come in for training but and she had a feeling she wasn’t going to get that call. She walked out of the building and began making her way to her car when she felt someone looking at her. As she cautiously observed her surroundings, she spotted a man on the opposite side of the street that seemed to be looking in her directions. There were a few other people waiting to cross the street along with her, so she figured the man could’ve been looking at something or someone else.
When Baylynn reached her car, she unlocked the doors and quickly jumped inside escaping the cold air. Bringing the car to life, she reached in her purse to retrieve her ringing phone and answered it when she saw it was Manny calling. She plugged her earphones so her hands could be free as she drove. Pressing the five button to talk to him, she waited for Manny’s voice to come through the phone as she pulled out of the parking spot and paid to exit the garage.
“Wassup Bay?” What you doin’?”
“Going home. I had a job interview this mornin
.”
“Job interview?” You applied for a job?” he quizzed.
“Yeah. You seemed surprised?”
“Because I am. What made you do that?”
“I applied for a job because I want a different life. I mean, I like havin’ a man to provide for me but I don’t want to just depend on a man anymore to take care of me. I want to be able to take care of myself.” She confessed.
“Damn.”
“What?”
“I thought I had you figured out but you just proved me wrong.”
“What you mean?”
“After I found out who you were to Ramsey and what you did, I had many thoughts of you and none of them were good. I’ve been thinkin’ about cuttin’ you off and sendin’ you on ya way but I can’t seem to do that. Since I got to know you a little better, I feel like you’re just misunderstood and misguided instead of a scandalous ass thot. I didn’t think that you would ever change your ways but after listenin’ to you, I see that I was wrong.”
“Manny, I know my background ain’t squeaky clean by a long shot and I know I’m far from wifey material but my feelings for you have grown since I contacted you months ago. We have a child together and I would like for us to try and be a family. I guess what I’m sayin’ is that I want us to be together, bae.”
“Are you sure about that?”
“Yes.”
“Do you have any leftover feelings for my cousin?”
“No. I’m over Ramsey.”
“I ain’t gonna lie. I want us to be together too but this is somethin’ I’m gonna have to think about a little more. I don’t wanna judge you by ya past but I don’t want you to have me lookin’ stupid in these streets like you did Ramsey. I gotta be able to trust you, bae.”
