When the couple woke up from their nap, they showered and got dressed for dinner. The food the chefs were preparing smelled interesting, but Cashmere feared she wouldn’t like the food since it was different from the food she ate. But, once Ramsey talked her in to trying something different, she decided to go with the flow and not sweat it. Once they were dressed, they headed downstairs to the dining room where a few different dishes were prepared for them. After silently blessing the food, they filled their plates with the different cuisines. There were a few Cashmere didn’t care for, but she enjoyed most of the food that was prepared, as well as Ramsey.
After filling up on food, they chilled for a minute to let their food digest before they slipped into their swim gear. As Cashmere got undressed, she caught Ramsey eyeing her body and she smirked. It amazed her how he still looked at her the same way he did four years ago. She just knew he would fall out of love with her for one reason or another like some men did, but that wasn’t the case. Ramsey still made her feel like the prettiest girl in the world and he continued to show her how much he loved her day in and day out. Cashmere was proud of the man her husband had become within the past year. He might’ve fucked up a few times, but what man didn’t? The way he bounced back and corrected his mistakes was all that mattered to Cashmere.
Ramsey’s lustful stares kept them from going to the pool that night, but Cashmere didn’t mind at all. Making love to her husband and making sure the people close to them knew her husband’s name was all she cared about that night. The next morning, they woke up around nine for breakfast. Instead of eating in the dining room, the couple had breakfast in bed as they watched TV. They discussed what they wanted to do for the day and agreed to take a tour of the city. Ramsey booked the tour and they scurried to get ready because the tour bus was arriving in an hour. It was hot as hell in Dubai, but Cashmere was thankful that the tour bus was air conditioned.
On their day of sightseeing, they visited the beautiful, majestic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, one of the world’s largest mosques. They asked the fellow travelers to take pictures of them in front of the building and the fountain that was out front. They also visited a museum and learned about their traditions and passed the President’s Palace before stopping off for lunch at a resort hotel. After lunch, they passed some sights on their way to their villa and Cashmere took plenty of pictures of all the places they had visited that day. Cashmere had never taken a bus tour in any of the places she vacationed before and she enjoyed it more than she thought she would.
Arriving back at their villa, they changed into their swimsuits and chilled pool side for the rest of the day as they sipped drinks and watched the sunset. Cashmere loved spending quality time with Ramsey, but she couldn’t help but think about her babies. She wanted to call and check on them, but her husband promised that they were fine. Pulling out his cell phone, he showed her all the photos Cassandra and Renee had sent to his phone of the girls doing different things and she smiled. Knowing her babies were okay eased her worried mind and she went back to being carefree.
It was Tuesday morning, Cashmere’s birthday, and she had mixed feelings about returning home. She enjoyed being away from everyone and everything, but she missed her family. Ramsey woke her up with some bomb-ass head followed by breakfast. Needing to get ready for their trip back home, they washed, got dressed and packed their bags. The cab driver honked his horn, letting them know he was there and they double checked their room before Ramsey grabbed their bags and they left the villa. Tossing the luggage into the trunk, they got inside the cab and the driver closed their door before taking his place behind the wheel. Cashmere rested her head on Ramsey’s shoulder the entire ride to the airport hangar where their jet was waiting. Arriving minutes later, the driver helped them out of the car and grabbed their luggage from the trunk. Ramsey paid and tipped the driver before grabbing their things and boarding the jet.
Cashmere took a seat by the window while Ramsey stored their luggage in the overhead compartment. Taking a seat next to his wife, he grabbed her hand and kissed it as the pilot closed the door to the jet and closed the door to the pilot area. Happy with how the weekend had played out, Cashmere kissed Ramsey’s cheek.
“Baby, this weekend was perfect. Thank you so much for this trip,” she beamed.
“Anythin’ for you, bae. I’m glad you enjoyed yourself. Are you relaxed now?” he smirked.
“Hell yeah. The tour, lounging by the pool, the massage you gave me yesterday and the countless times we had sex, I am very relaxed.” She bit her lip.
“I’m a hundred percent sure we conceived a baby this weekend.” He gently squeezed her thigh, making her giggle.
“That’s when the twins were conceived, too.” Cashmere shook her head.
“Let me find out that’s when I’m the most fertile,” she chuckled.
“Shit, I hope you are because I need me a son so I won’t keep gettin’ punked by my daughters.”
Cashmere couldn’t control her laughter as the pilot announced that he was about to take off in a few seconds. As promised, the jet began rolling and lifted into the air. Laying her head on Ramsey’s shoulder, Cashmere drifted off to sleep. A couple of hours later, the jet landed at the airport in Philly. Ramsey shook her lightly, waking her up, and she stretched before making her way off the jet. A black stretch Cadillac limo was waiting for them. Cashmere got in as she waited for Ramsey to get the luggage situated in the trunk. On the seat across from her, there was an envelope with her name on it. Grabbing the envelope, she removed the card and read it.
We hope you enjoyed your weekend. Come to our house so you can tell us about the trip. Love Mom and Dad
Cashmere placed the card back in the envelope and smiled. She knew her parents were up to something and she couldn’t wait to see what it was. Ramsey got in the limo seconds later, closing the door behind him. The driver hopped in and pulled off.
“Do you know if my parents planned anything for my birthday?” Cashmere quizzed.
“My lips are sealed.” He shook his head.
“Come on, Ramsey! You didn’t tell me about the trip, and now you’re not going to tell me what my parents are up to?”
“Nope.”
“You suck.” She punched him in the arm.
“I love you, too, ma.”
Cashmere couldn’t help but wonder what her parents had up their sleeves, and without her phone, she couldn’t text her family and ask, but they probably wouldn’t have told her, either. Assholes! They arrived at her parents’ house minutes later, and everything seemed normal. It was hot, quiet and peaceful outside like it was the first time she visited her parents. Ramsey helped her out of the car and the driver removed their bags from the trunk. Ramsey tipped him before the couple headed to the front door and rang the bell. Seconds later, the door swung open and her mother greeted her with a smile.
“There’s my birthday girl!” Cassandra hugged her daughter tightly.
“Hey, mom,” Cash smiled.
“Get on in here.” Her mother pulled her in the house with Ramsey in tow.
“Mom, where are Dad and the girls?” she questioned as she observed the first floor.
The sound of a baby crying came from the backyard and Cashmere took off running.
“SURPRISE!” everyone yelled when Cash opened the doors to the backyard.
Cashmere’s hands flew up to her mouth as she stood there in shock. All of her family and friends were there and she couldn’t get over how nicely decorated the backyard was. The lavender and white balloons were scattered throughout the yard and a banner that read “Happy 24th Birthday Cashmere” hung over the pool house. Peach colored roses were in the center of the five tables that were placed in the grass and there was a buffet table that was full of food, along with plenty of bottles of liquor. Her mother and Ramsey grabbed each of her arms, leading her out to the pool area. Baylynn and Tamia were the first ones to greet her with a group hug. Cashmere hugged Tiffany and Ryan next, then the men. Renee
squeezed her tightly and Cash was surprised to see Ashley there as well. Charles, who was sitting with the babies, gave her a big bear hug and kissed her cheek.
“Happy birthday, baby girl,” he smiled.
“Thanks, Dad. You and Mom really outdid yourselves.” Cashmere wiped her eyes before the tears fell.
“Since we missed so many birthdays after you turned eighteen, we figured we’d do something big for your twenty-fourth.”
“Aww, dad.” She kissed his cheek.
“Happy birthday, mommy!” Cassi hugged her mother’s leg.
“Thank you, Princess.” She picked her daughter up, giving her a big hug.
“I missed you so much. You know that?”
“I missed you, too.” Cassi kissed her cheek.
“Aye, Cash,” Baylynn called, getting her attention.
“Wassup, sis?” Cashmere turned to face her.
“I would like for you to meet my mother. Ma, this is Cash. Cash, this is my mother, Fateema,” Baylynn beamed.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Fateema.” Cash extended her hand.
“Girl, you don’t have to be all formal with me. You can call me Ma or Fateema. Either one will do. You better give me a hug before I give you twenty-four licks upside ya head.”
Cashmere laughed as they embraced each other briefly.
“And someone wants to wish you a happy birthday, too.” Baylynn moved over a little to let Brandi in.
“Happy birthday, Aunt Cass,” Brandi said shyly with a card in hand.
“Awww. Thank you, Brandi.” She scooped her up in her arms.
“You’re welcome. Here.” Brandi handed her the card.
“It’s a card and money.”
“Brandi! You weren’t supposed to tell her,” Baylynn scolded.
“Oops,” she shrugged.
“It’s okay, niece. I’m not mad.” Cash kissed her cheek before placing her on her feet.
“Where’s my grandbaby?” Cash’s grandma yelled from the house.
“Grandma!” she shouted happily.
“Happy birthday, my sweet girl. I love you.”
“I love you, too, gramps.”
“Now, let’s get this party started!”
Cashmere laughed as her grandma strolled over to the buffet table. Seconds later, all the women gathered around Cashmere, asking her questions about their trip. Cashmere was halfway through her story when Cassandra emerged from the house with a three-layer cheesecake on a cart, singing happy birthday. Everyone joined in as they gathered around the cake with Cashmere in the middle. There were two candles, a two and a four, on top of the cake, and when they were finished singing, Cashmere picked up Cassi and Brandi so they could help her blow out the candles. When the candles were out, everyone cheered. Placing the girls on their feet, Cash dashed inside the house to change into her swimsuit.
When Cashmere made her way back outside, everyone was seated at the table, about to eat their food. Cash was about to sit next to her husband when her mother asked her to say a few words. She immediately declined, but after her family encouraged her to, she stood behind her chair and began her speech.
“I just want to say thank you for throwing this party for me and I’m grateful to have each and every one of y’all in my life. This time last year, I was in Aruba with my boyfriend, who had a whole girlfriend who just so happened to pop up and ruin my special day. And, on top of that, that was the day I found out I had a sister. From last year to now, I’ve managed to make up with both of my parents, fight and form a bond with my sisters, cuss my friends out and make up with them, get married, give birth to twin daughters and fall in love all over again with the man I’ve spent four years with. I’ve been through a lot with all of y’all and we’ve all had our issues with each other, but for us to be gathered here today, drama free, is a wonderful thing. I love y’all, and thank you for making my birthday so special.”
Everyone murmured different positive responses. Cashmere took a seat at the table and everyone began to eat their food. As the day went on, Cash and her family enjoyed playing in the pool, dancing and drinking. Even though they were celebrating her birthday, Cashmere felt like they all had something to celebrate. Her parents were finally married and more in love than ever, her sisters were in happy, healthy relationships, Tiffany and Randall were still going strong, and even Ryan had a man in her life. If someone had asked Cashmere to predict what was in her future, her answer wouldn’t have been to reunite with her parents, find her sisters, be married or be a mother of three. All of the events that happened within that year was enough to make a person want to give up, but she hadn’t, and neither had her family. They stuck together through their trying times, and when most people couldn’t do the impossible, like accepting the ex of your man as your sister, Cashmere had. She never thought her life would be filled with so much love and she was glad it was from her real family and not people she called family. They say you can’t pick and choose your family, but Cashmere was beyond happy to have the family she had. Flaws and all.
