“You’ve got magic hands,” Kian marvelled, unlocking the back door.
“That’s what he said,” Cate winked.
While they waited for Jimmy to do his business, Kian said, “I shouldn’t have said it. The night before I left for the World Cup, when I said that if we had another child, it would make us a proper family. It was a shitty thing to say and it’s not true. I get why you don’t want to have any more kids, Cate. I was so fucking overjoyed that you and Lo were OK that I didn’t think about what you’d gone through beforehand. Fuck, the thought that I could have lost you and Lo… I don’t want to; I can’t risk that again either.”
“Thank you,” Cate said softly, “that means so much to me. It was my fault too, I should have told you I was scared, instead of running away.” She leaned across and pressed her lips to his cheek. “I love you.”
After Jimmy had finished, they went back inside. “I got you something,” Kian said, “close your eyes.”
Cate opened one eye, “as long as it’s not any part of your anatomy?”
“Such a dirty mind,” Kian chuckled, “close them.”
She felt something drop into the palm of her hand. When she opened her eyes, there were a stack of 3 navy-blue, what looked like credit cards, in her hands. Cate went to give him them back, “I don’t want your money.”
“You might want to look at them first before you give them back,” Kian smiled.
Cate looked more closely; they had the Rovers crest in the top corner. “They’re Rovers’ season tickets,” Kian explained, “for you, Lola and Ben. They’re in the safest part of the ground, the Family Stand, right above the tunnel so you can come to the Players’ Lounge afterwards. I know you and Ben have still got things to work out but it would make me feel better if he was there with you, just in case.”
“Are they for real?” Cate asked, studying them. “Kian, that’s amazing. Thank you so much.”
“Wait a second,” Cate frowned, “how did you know I’d come home with you tonight?”
Kian rolled his eyes, “I was going to give you them for our anniversary in a couple of days’ time. I didn’t think you were a sure thing.”
“Huh?” Cate said. She looked down at Jimmy, who was curled up in his bed. “He’s not too clever, is he?”
Jimmy looked up at Kian and did the biggest yawn they’d ever seen.
Cate walked to the bottom of the stairs, “in case you haven’t realised it yet – I’m more of a sure thing than England getting knocked out of a major tournament on penalties.”
They walked hand-in-hand into the bedroom. “Did you change the sheets?” Cate asked. It smelled like a hotel room, like washing powder.
“I haven’t slept in here since you left,” Kian frowned. “This is our room.”
With their eyes locked together, Cate slid the straps of her dress down her shoulders and slowly shimmied out of it. “There’s um, something I need to show you,” she reached behind her back to unclasp her bra.
In the dark, it looked like her nipples sparkled. He reached out a hand and tugged her closer and that’s when he realised that they were pierced with silver barbells. For a moment, he was lost in the sheer beauty of his wife’s bare breasts but then a dark thought crossed his mind.
As if she knew just what he was thinking, Cate reached for his hands, “it was a woman.”
“What?” Kian reluctantly dragged his eyes away from her breasts.
She placed his hands on her soft, warm breasts. He could feel the piercings against his skin. “What was?”
“It was a woman who did the piercings; we were in a private room. I thought you’d want to know.”
Kian leaned forward and gently kissed Cate, his tongue sliding between her lips and exploring her mouth as his thumbs rubbed over her piercings. “Mm,” she moaned. “It makes them more sensitive.”
Kian pulled away to remove his shirt and tie.
“Do you like them?” she asked.
Kian shoved down his trousers so he was clad in just his boxer shorts. He guided Cate’s hand to the bulge at the front of his shorts, “what do you think?”
“I think you might like them,” she grinned, tracing the outline of his hard, throbbing cock, which was all hers again.
She was about to tug down his shorts when she noticed a black mark under his ribs, “is that a tattoo?”
She looked more closely and it was a Chinese symbol of some sort, she recognised it somehow.
“It means courage,” Kian explained. “You had the same one on your ankle, the night we nearly made love for the first time.”
Cate traced her fingers over it. She remembered the henna tattoo and Kian pressing his lips against it. “The night your Dad…”
“Yeah,” Kian said. “You’re my first half, angel. I wanted something of you on my body. Do you like it?”
Cate eased her lacy thong over her hips and down her legs, kicking it to one side. “Why don’t you find out?”
She pulled back the duvet and climbed up on to the mattress. As he took off his boxer shorts, she parted her legs giving him a perfect view of her slick pussy.
Kian knelt down and pushed her thighs further apart. As she fisted the sheets, he slowly licked the crease of her thigh, rubbing his stubble against her skin. “Mm,” Cate whimpered. He took a deep breath, savouring the musk of her arousal before softly French-kissing the lips of her pussy. Her hips rose up off the mattress so he put his hands on her inner thighs, holding her down. Parting her lips, he watched her arousal stain the sheets beneath them. He licked between her legs in long, deep strokes.
“Please,” she begged.
Kian pushed his tongue inside her velvet warmth and her thighs strained against his hands. He licked up to her clit, coating the inside of her pussy with her silky arousal. He parted her soft folds with his tongue until he found her tender, swollen bud desperately throbbing for him. “So fucking beautiful,” his breath dragged her close to the edge. He ducked back down, sliding his tongue deep between her legs. Cate arched above him, her shoulders digging into the mattress. “Please.”
Kian licked back up to her clit and slowly sucked her bud between his lips. “Kian,” she screamed. He lapped at the juices spilling freely out of her convulsing pussy, easing her down from her orgasm.
After she’d recovered a little, Cate rolled him over on to his back and knelt above him. She circled the flat discs of his nipples with her tongue before gently nipping them. “Ow,” Kian yelped.
Cate looked up at him and grinned. She continued working her way down his chest, tracing the bumps and dips of his muscles with her tongue; he tasted sweaty and manly. She used her hands to push his thighs wider apart, dragging her nails across his hair-roughened skin. His thick cock slid between her breasts; the tip was already leaking. “Fuck,” Kian groaned, throwing his head back. She loved watching him lose control like this. She swirled her tongue inside his belly button and then followed the happy trail of black hair down. But instead of touching his jutting cock, she continued teasing him, dragging her lips down one side and up the other of his v-cut muscles.
She wrapped her hand around the base of his cock. “Fuck,” Kian jerked, he was just barely holding on. She dipped down and licked the thick, pulsing vein which ran underneath his shaft. “Does that feel good?”
“Fuck, yeah.”
Using her free hand to fondle his balls, Cate took him inside her mouth. She swirled her tongue over his shaft, feeling his balls tighten up and then hollowed out her cheeks, suctioning as she slid him back out again. Kian’s fingers tangled up in her hair and she took him again, deeper this time so he was kissing the back of her
throat. She swallowed slowly, letting the back of her throat massage the head of his cock.
As she bobbed up and down, Kian roughly tugged her hair. His hips thrusting upwards, “Cate, I’m gonna…”
She reached between his legs and rubbed the small patch of nerves under his balls. “Fuck,” Kian grunted, exploding inside h
er mouth. She swallowed every last drop before climbing back up the bed and resting her head on his chest. “That was…” he spluttered, “Fuck, I love you.”
Cate laughed, “I love you too.”
“I love this by the way,” he said, running his hands through her shorter hair. “The purple suits you.”
He lifted her up and laid her down on her back. As he climbed up on top of her, Cate was so happy to feel that familiar weight pressing her deep into the mattress again, tears leaked out of the corners of her eyes.
“Hey,” he pulled back, “why are you crying?”
“No,” Cate protested, wrapping her arms around his neck. “They’re happy tears, I promise. I didn’t think I’d get to have this again.”
Kian kissed her damp cheeks, “I really hate seeing you cry, angel, even if they are happy tears.”
“Will you make love to me?” Cate asked. “I need to feel you.”
He positioned himself at her entrance and then stopped. “What’s wrong?” she asked.
“Once I’m inside you,” Kian groaned, “I don’t think I’m ever going to want to pull out.”
“Good,” Cate smiled. “You’re kind of stuck with me now.”
He thrust into her, fitting his cock into her pussy like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. Their bodies moved effortlessly together in matching rhythm, almost as if they were one and the same. She could feel the broken pieces inside of her begin to heal, the skin knitting together, closing up the thick gashes across her heart. He could break her heart but he could also put it back together again, maybe that’s what love really is. She clung to him, opened herself up to his touch, his kisses, his love. With their impassioned cries as a soundtrack, Cate opened her eyes to find Kian looking right back at her. In his dark eyes, she saw her lover, her best friend, her home, her family. She watched mesmerised as it surged between them, knowing without question that he felt the same. Their hands dug deeper into each other’s flesh, sweat trickled over their bodies, gluing them together. Even though her eyes remained open, as she jerked, her whole body electrified with innumerable volts, there was a flash of white unearthly light.
“Let’s go away somewhere,” Kian suggested the next morning, trailing kisses along Cate’s bare shoulder.
“Mm,” Cate snuggled back against him, “where?”
“I don’t care.” Kian wrapped an arm around her waist. “Anywhere. Just you, me and our girl.”
As they talked about all of the places they could go to, they heard Lola through the baby monitor. “Mummy?”
Cate was about to get up when she realised that she didn’t have any clothes on. “No, what if she comes running in here?” she panicked, trying frantically to find her underwear in the jumble of clothes on the bedroom floor.
“It’s OK, angel,” Kian said, gently smacking her bare bottom, which was stuck up in the air. “I’ll go.” He’d already found his boxer shorts and was pulling them up his thighs. He grabbed his trousers. “I can’t believe I’m saying this,” he winced, looking at Cate’s naked body, “but get dressed, I’ll see you downstairs.”
Cate rummaged through the wardrobe and eventually found an old pair of Kian’s pyjamas. As she tugged them on, she realised that they were the same pair she’d “borrowed” a lot when she was pregnant with Lo – the navy blue t-shirt with yellow lettering and the plaid bottoms.
She could hear Kian talking to Lola through the baby monitor.
“Daddy?”
“Come here,” Kian picked her up. “Did you sleep well, baby girl?”
“Where’s Mummy?”
“Mummy’s only just woken up. How about we go downstairs and you can help me make breakfast, what do you say?”
“Mummy!” Lola beamed when Cate walked into the kitchen. She had pancake batter smeared all over her face.
“Have you been helping Daddy?” Cate grinned, reaching for a cloth to wipe her daughter’s face.
“Those pyjamas look good on you,” Kian commented as she sat down at the counter next to Lola.
Cate met his eyes and then quickly had to look away. Geez, he was smouldering. Her lady bits were already demanding that they make up for lost time. She tried to focus on something else but Kian wasn’t wearing a shirt and sweet heaven, she couldn’t drag her eyes away from the defined muscles on his chest. She could still remember how they tasted.
“Hungry?” Kian chuckled. He looked pointedly at her nipples, which were poking through her t-shirt.
Cate blushed and quickly folded her arms across her chest, “something like that.”
“Mummy, can I ask you a question?” Lola interrupted Cate.
“You can ask, sweetheart.”
Lola leaned forward so she could whisper in Cate’s ear, “are we staying here now?” Or are we going back to Granny Reen’s?”
Kian looked across and wondered what they were whispering about. “We’re staying here.” Cate said.
“We are?” Lola said, doubtfully, “really?”
“Really,” Cate insisted.
“Yay,” Lola had a huge smile on her face. “Guess what Daddy?”
“What?” Kian put a plate of pancakes in front of both Cate and Lola.
“My birthday wish came true,” Lola said excitedly. “We’re staying here. We’re not going back to Granny Reen’s.”
“Is that right?” Kian asked, raising an eyebrow at Cate.
“Yeah,” Lola nodded, “Mummy said so.”
“She did, did she?” He came up behind Cate and wrapped his arms around her waist. “Well, if Mummy said so…”
“Mummy did,” Cate confirmed, turning around to face Kian. He captured her lips in a sweet kiss.
Lola pushed her little body between them, “Lola, hug.”
“Okay,” Cate and Kian broke apart, both of them laughing. They wrapped their arms around Lola and each other, completing their family again.
