I shrugged. “I didn’t even know she was talking.” I said with a careless attitude.

“Of course, typical Nee-nee.” Celine said softly.

“Ohh typical me…” I said imitating her in an annoying high pitched voice.

  Celine clenched her jaws tightly.

“Ornelia that’s enough.” My mother said sternly. She only called me Ornelia when she was mad.

I huffed loudly. “Can we talk about something more interesting than law and rules and---”

“Nee-nee you’re sister got picked out of 789 students to be the one to accompany her professor to D.C….that’s a huge accomplishment and you should be proud of her…aren’t you proud of her?” Gisele said grinning at Celine. “I’m so proud of you sweetheart.” Gisele said reaching over and patting Celine’s hand softly. Her eyes were warm and full of love.

Andy leaned back and watched me but I was too busy glaring at Celine.

I watched in envy as Celine basked in our mother’s glory. “Sure, I’m very happy for you. I’m sure you sacrificed lots of late nights and physical exhaustion so you professor could teach you or thing or two huh?” I said.

  Andy’s eyes got bigger.

Celine glared at me, knowing exactly what I was implying. I ignored the hurt in her eyes. “Nee-nee, you’re such---”

My thigh vibrated “I’m sorry, was this for your anatomy class?” I asked sweetly. I looked down at my lap.

Stop. A single text from Andy.

I immediately felt bad. I hated how I got when I was around Celine. Now Andy had to see this part of me. The whiney insecure middle sister side. I looked up at him and gave a small apologetic smile.

“Ornelia, you’re dismissed from the table.” Gisele said.

“Gladly.” I said standing up abruptly. It wasn’t the first time I got kicked out the dinner table, and I knew it certainly wouldn’t be the last. I smirked at Celine and made my way to Andy. “Come.” I said. Andy took the hand I extended him and got up.

“No, Andy stays.” Gisele said. Andy stopped moving. He gave my hand a small squeeze and let go.

“Mom he’s me guest.” I said annoyed.

“Actually Ornelia, this is my house so therefore he’s now my guest… besides I don’t want your sour attitude to corrupt the poor boy.” Gisele pointed to Andy. “Andy sweetheart sit.”

Andy promptly sat back in his seat. I didn’t blame the kid. I groaned and rolled my eyes. “So fucking unfair.” I whispered.

  I turned around.

“I’m treating you like a kid, because you’re acting like one.” Gisele said.

“Whatever.” I said under my breath. I didn’t dare say that to her out loud or I would be promptly rewarded with a slap across the face.

“Now go upstairs and think of how you can be a better sister okay chérie.” Gisele continued. I ignored her and kept walking.

I don’t want to be a better sister! I hate it when she says that.

I heard a knock on my bedroom door.

  “What?” I asked annoyed.

The door opened and Andy poked his head in. “May I come in?” He asked.

I sat up in the bed. “Well technically it’s your room for the week.” I said.

Andy came in and closed the door behind him. I saw he was holding a small plate.

  “What’s that?” I asked.

Andy came over and sat on the edge of the bed. “Fleur and I snuck you some flan. She said it’s your favorite.” He said handing me the plate.

“Fleur’s really sneaky.” I said taking the plate gratefully. “Where’s the spoon?” I asked as I looked at the fragile cake all covered in syrup.

“I knew we forgot something.” He said pouting. I laughed and tore a piece with my finger and put it in my mouth. “Aaahhh, that’s so good.” I moaned as I sucked on my finger. Andy looked away. I licked the syrup off my finger and got some more and did the same thing. “Sorry for acting like a bitch at the table.” I said softly as I broke off a piece of the cake.

  “You’re mean.” Andy said.

“You’re on her side?” I asked in disbelief. “Traitor.”

“I’m not on anybody’s side, but from where I was sitting…you were saying all the extra mean stuff.” Andy said.

“No, I just learned to say them before her.” I said.

Andy finally turned to look at me. “Am I supposed to choose sides or something?”

  I shook my head.

“Good, cause Celine’s nice…and she’s very intelligent too.” Andy said.

I stared at my plate of flan. I don’t think I’d ever heard Andy compliment a girl like that before. I sighed and dug my finger in the syrup.

“You don’t act like you around Celine.” Andy said calmly as he watched me eat the cake.

“Because she’s an alien who’s main goal is to suck my personality out of me.” I said calmly as I sucked on my index finger.

  Andy chuckled.

I lifted the plate to his face. “Did you try any this, it’s like an orgasm in your mouth.” I said as I scooped up a little bit of syrup off the side of the plate with my index finger. Andy watched me.

Andy shook his head. “Too sweet.” He said.

“You haven’t even tasted it.” I said. I licked my finger and dug in for more syrup.

“I can smell the sweetness from here.” He said.

“Come just one try.” I said putting my syrupy finger in front of his face.

  Andy shook his head.

“Oh Andy…” I said sweetly as I inched towards him. I wiggled my finger in his face. “It’s good.”

Andy moved his face away. “I’m good.”

“Taste it.” I ordered as I got closer to him. “You can even lick it off my finger if you want.” I said my low sex voice. I twirled my finger in front of him.

“I’ll pass.” Andy said standing up.

I rolled my eyes and sucked my finger. “You’re no fun.” I said. Andy watched me as I stuffed the rest on the flan in my mouth. Andy sat back down. He rubbed his eye.

“You tired?” I asked, moving so I was sitting next to him.

He nodded. “A little…I gotta take my contacts out.” Andy got back up and reached for his bag on the floor. He rummaged through it and came out with a contact case and glasses case.

“You wear glasses?” I said. “How cute.” I smiled at him.

Andy got up and pushed me back down on the bed. “I’m going to the bathroom.” He said walking away towards the adjoining bathroom next to my closet. I was about to get up. “And don’t follow me.” He added.

I opened my mouth. “How did you know?” I asked in surprise.

Andy looked back. “You’re pretty predictable.” He said smirking right before he disappeared into the bathroom.

“How rude!” I yelled but laughed at the same time. I flopped back on the bed. I wonder if he’d let me sleep in my bed with him.

  *****

“Get out.” Andy said pointing to the door.

“Come on, I just want to read one song.” I said pointing to his notebook. I guess that’s what he always wrote in that cow book of his, and here I thought he’d always been taking notes.

  “No.” Andy said simply.

“That’s not fair.” I said. “Do you have a song about me?” I asked excitedly.

“No, I do not…now can I go to bed?” He asked.

“I’m just tryna keep you company.” I said patting the bed. I looked him over. “You’re the only boy I know who sleeps in actual pajama pants and a shirt.” I said grinning. I took in his blue flannel pants and grey t-shirt.

“I don’t want you lusting after my body now, get out.” Andy said opening my bedroom door.

  “Andy….” I pouted.

“Nee-nee get out of that room right now and leave him alone!” Gisele yelled from 2 rooms down.

“I’m just saying goodnight!” I yelled.

  “Now Nee-nee!” She yelled back.

I rolled my eyes and go
t off the bed. “This isn’t over Perth.” I said pointing my finger in his face menacingly. “I’m gonna sleep in this bed with you and I’m gonna read those lyrics.”

“You’re so weird.” Andy said seriously.

I grinned and kissed him on the cheek. “‘Night sunshine, sleep tight.” I brought my hand down and smacked his butt playfully. Hummm…nice and firm.

  “Nee-nee you have 2 seconds---”

“I’m out, I’m out.” I yelled back to my mom. I gave Andy one last smile and closed the door behind him. “I was just saying goodnight.” I said as I saw my mom with her hand on her hips.

“What are you doing with that boy?” Gisele asked.

“He’s a friend mom.” I said wrapping my arms around her. I leaned over and kissed her on the cheek. “And stop being so nosey, you ask too many questions.”

“I want to make sure my daughter’s in good hands.” Gisele said.

“I love you too.” I said hugging her tightly.

“Okay, okay.” She said pretending to be annoyed. “Now go apologize to your sister.”

I dropped my hands and stepped away. “For what?” I asked.

“For the dinner table conversation missy.” My mom said putting her hands on her hips.

I turned around and groaned. “I’m tired.”

  “Ornelia.”

“I’m tired, I’ll think about it.”

  “Ornelia!”

I ignored my mom and walked in Fleur’s room as I heard her rant off something in French. Luckily Fleur was sleeping, so I knew she wouldn’t come in. I took off my shirt and jeans as I made my way across the room. I didn’t feel like apologizing, what was the point if I didn’t mean it. I took off my bra and put on a tank top when I heard a knock on the door.

“What?” I asked annoyed as I opened the door.

Celine smiled. “Regardless of how dinner went, I’m really glad to see you little sister.”

I looked my older half-sister up and down and leaned against the wall. “Being the bigger person I see.”

“As always.” Celine said. She stepped forward and wrapped her arms around me as I kept mine to my side. She hugged me tight and kissed my cheek. I really wanted to hug her back, I really wanted to…I…my fucking pride and envy always got the best of me.

“You look beautiful.” Celine said smiling as she tuck some hair behind me ear.

I looked at the ground. “I guess you’re okay.” I mumbled.

Celine laughed. “Coming out of your mouth, that means a lot.” She took my hand and squeezed it.

“I’m gonna go to bed now.” I said releasing my hand from her hold.

Celine took an awkward step back. “Sure.” She said softly. I knew she was hurt. I knew she wanted to sit and talk and chat or catch-up or something. But I wasn’t in the mood. “‘Night.” She said as she turned and walked away.

I didn’t respond as I closed the door and just stood there in total darkness. It would be so much easier to hate her if Celine was a hateful person. If she was snobby…well she is kind of snobby. But if she was a bitch that just hated everyone and everything then it would be better. But no! Celine was perfect. That’s what I couldn’t get my mind around. She was nice and she was sweet and it irritated the fuck out of me because it just put more emphasis on how I was the total opposite inside. I was the bitchy sister while she always tried to make things work. I hit my head against the door. What was wrong with me? Why did I act like this?

  *****

“Wake up.” I whispered in Andy’s ear. I leaned closer. His hair smelled nice. Andy didn’t budge. He lied to me. He didn’t sleep with a shirt on. The sheets were halfway up to reveal his pale chest and pink nipples. I smiled. I loved watching boys sleep. There was just something so undeniably cute about them when they slept. Right now I sat beside Andy’s body and looked him over. He was sleeping on his back. His head tilted to the side making his hair fall in front of his face. His long black eyelashes looked even longer against his close lids. His mouth was in a cute little pout. This is the kind of guy you would want to wake up to every morning.

“Andy wake up.” I said shaking his shoulder slightly. I didn’t shake him too much because in all honesty, I really didn’t want him to wake up. I would be perfectly fine just watching him sleep. I wonder if that turned me into a creeper or stalker. I reached over and gently moved his hair out his face. Andy sighed and moved around. Without opening his eyes, his hand slipped down in between his sheets and his body shifted towards me as he changed his position to lay on his side.

“Andy if you don’t wake up this instant, I’m going to be forced to kiss you because you’re just so effin cute.” I said loudly.

Andy opened one of his beautiful blue eyes slowly. My heart stopped as he gave me a slow sleepy smile. “I’ve heard worst.” He said in a low sexy gruff voice. Shit I want to jump this guy and have his babies.

I stared at him for awhile unable to respond, but it wasn’t the least bit weird because he’s eyes were closing again.

“No, don’t go back to sleep, I gotta show you around.” I said shaking him quickly.

  “I’m tired.” He whispered sleepily.

“Sleep is for the weak.” I said pulling his arm. I had to act fast or I was going to end up joining him on that bed and possibly fucking his fine sleepy ass.

“Okay I’m up.” He said in that same low sexy voice.

“No you’re not.” I said pulling more. Oh God why did you give me a body with such an unhealthy sexual appetite?

“I am.” He said chuckling. But it was that same low tone. It was the sex Andy voice, not the regular Andy voice. I let go of his hand and reached for the pillow. Andy this is for both your sanity and mine. I brought the pillow down and hit him hard.

Andy sat up in bed looking confused and angry as he shook his head. “What?” He asked.

Oh thank God, his regular voice is back. “Morning…time to get up.” I said happily.

Andy looked at me like I’d grown two heads. He looked around the room as though confused. I noticed when he remembered where he was. He turned back to look at me. “What are you doing here?” He asked annoyed.

“I came to wake you up!” I said cheerfully. Thank God, this Andy I can handle…the just woken up as a sex god Andy I could not.

“Have you ever heard of pants?” He asked as he turned away from me.

“I have shorts.” I said looking down. Well they were really short shorts that I slept in, but they were shorts. I looked up to see scratches on Andy’s back. They weren’t recent marks, but they must have been pretty deep for them to remain.

“Can you get out?” Andy asked.

“You promise you’re getting up?” I asked tearing my eyes away from him.

“I’m up Ornelia.” He said in an annoyed tone. He rubbed his eye and turned his head to face me.

“You’re so cute.” I said teasingly. I laughed as I skipped out the room. Andy didn’t know but I was determined to have him enjoy himself this upcoming week.

  Chapter twelve

For the next three days I brought Andy everywhere with me. It was weird but it was funny. I dragged him to my high school, to the mall, to my friends’ house. I couldn’t remember the last time I had so much fun with a guy whom I wasn’t messing around with. Yep, not even Nico had this much funny and he was a funny dude. Andy was not like that by far, oh no…he barely ever talked. He let me drag him wherever I wanted to go but getting him to talk was like getting a root canal…excruciating. It bothered me at first for the first couple hours, but then I realized it’s just who he is. If he doesn’t have anything to say, he seriously won’t say anything. He would play settle little jokes on me and make fun of me when I did something stupid (which was all the time) but other than that he was my mute white friend.

My friends from high school were kind of surprised that I was hanging with somebody like Andy. They were as intrigued with him as I was if not more. They stared at him and they talked, but Andy hand
led himself so well, just standing next to me as though not caring about anything else. Let me tell you that attitude in three days made him fit right in. He was known as O.J.’s white boy and he was accepted. People stopped just staring and whispering and actually started talking to him. I told Andy he’d probably never been around so many black people in his life and he agreed. I don’t want to push my luck here but I don’t think it would be a far shot to say he seemed to be enjoying himself. My mission to integrate him into society was working fairly well. If I could get my crew of friends here to accept him, then anybody could accept him.
