Chapter 1 – Trading with Universe Number Five

The time travel membrane named, The Empress, was setup as a huge traveling warehouse designed to provide merchandise to the entities of the cosmos. The Empress is an eleventh-dimension time travel membrane supported by a travel computer capable of sustaining the membrane, and providing intergalactic flight. The original owner and designer, Ronnie Sam Yutaka, died along with his wife, Angela Irene Yutaka, in a teleportation accident. Ronnie and Angela’s daughter, Jill Marie Yutaka, is now the sole owner and captain of The Empress. Trish, Jill’s cousin (once removed) came aboard The Empress shortly after the death of Jill’s parents to help run the daily operations of the travel membrane.

When Ronnie’s wife became an active crewmember of The Empress, Ronnie had set up a money account and paid her a salary for the work she performed aboard the vessel. When Ronnie and Angela died, Jill continued with the same concept and set up a money account for Trish. Jill soon realized that bringing Trish aboard was a good arrangement. Jill also realized that the physical size of The Empress had rapidly expanded from the hard work of both or them. The physical inventory aboard the vessel had almost doubled in size, as had the customer database. Many of Jill’s customers were still talking about her father as if he was a long lost friend, but now accepted her and Trish as loyal and honest vendors for the wares they wished to purchase. Jill hoped to continue the exceptional relationship she and Trish had formed with their customers.

Jill sat in the captain’s chair at the travel computer console, staring out the viewing port at a distant planet. Jill was in deep thought, and tears ran down her cheeks as the memories of her deceased Mother raced through her head. Jill did not often get overly emotional over her parents deaths, but today seemed to be one of those days. Jill had just turned twenty-seven years old, but she missed her mother just as badly today as she had missed her the day after her death.

Trish heard Jill crying from the ready room and quietly stepped into the control room with her partner. She kneeled down beside Jill’s chair, and asked, “Is there anything I can do to make you feel better?” Jill turned her head toward Trish and said, “I could use a hug if you have a shoulder to spare.” Trish hugged Jill for a few moments and Jill seemed to settle herself.

Trish stood up, walked to the kitchen and made two cups of hot chocolate, and then put tiny colored marshmallows on top, and let them float around. When she stepped into the control room and passed the steaming cup of chocolate to Jill, Trish saw a tiny smile appear on Jill’s face as she said, “Thank you my friend, I seem to need your company, and your shoulder to cry on today. My mother and father’s memories seem to be haunting me lately.” Trish sat down in the copilot’s chair and pulled up some financial charts on the monitor in front of them. She pressed a few keys on the keyboard resting on the console in front of her and said, “Jill, maybe these financial statements will help pry your mind away from your parents’ memories.” Trish began explaining to Jill that they had massed a small fortune in the last two years. They had placed thousands of Galax in banks located on the planet Quantum, the planet Earth, and then stored the remaining Galax aboard The Empress. Jill was astounded at the charts she was looking at and asked Trish what they would ever do with all that Galax. Trish smiled and said, “Spending a few for a vacation on a sunny beach in San Francisco for a few weeks would be my first suggestion.” Jill turned to Trish and asked if she was sure that they could be away from The Empress for that long. Trish said, “I would have to notify a few customers about our intent, but I believe we just might slip away for a few weeks and enjoy ourselves.” Jill looked at Trish and said, “I might be tempted to join you. I know I could enjoy living on the beach for a few weeks, and I am certain I need some sun on this pale body, and a man between my knees would be wonderful. Maybe we could rent one of those beach houses with the long set of stairs leading down to the Pacific Ocean.”

The computer interrupted their conversation announcing that they had arrived in Universe Number Five’s outer orbit, and then went silent as it waited for instructions from the skipper.

The astrophysicists of the IFTT (International Federation of Time Travel) had named Universe Number Five, Dongor. The exact location that Jill and Trish were visiting was the galaxy of Vickhar, and the planet of Nehica. The Tewarts were the entity that lived on the planet, and Jill had spoken to their Director of Commerce about allowing The Empress to trade with the business’s on the planet. The Director, named Jack Daniels, welcomed The Empress into its outer orbit and explained the protocol for trading goods with the Tewarts. The planet of Nehica was not suitable for earthlings to visit, due to the high carbon dioxide content of the atmosphere, but The Empress could easily teleport goods between its cargo bay and any individual business location on the surface of the planet.

Jack messaged instructions to Jill and began explaining how to set their Super 11 radio to the correct teleport frequencies to access the different business locations. Each business had a unique sub-frequency, something like the telephone numbers used on the planet Earth back in the twenty-first century. These unique numbers gave the businesses on the planet of Nehica access to every entity in the entire cosmos.

The goods that Jill and Trish hoped to purchase from the Tewarts were items with cutting edges, especially knives and scissors. The Tewarts had produced a metal alloy unlike any found in the cosmos. When the Tewarts fashioned the metal into cutting edges for tools or blades, the blades were practically indestructible. You could heat the blades white hot and they would not bend, break, dull or discolor. When sharpened with a special grinding method on the planet Nehica, the blades would remain sharp for years. When the cutting edge did dull, the Tewarts would sharpen them free of charge for the lifetime of the blade. />
Jill wanted a large selection of these knives in The Empress’s inventory. The Director had told Trish that only fifty of the knives had ever left the planet of Nehica, and now The Empress would be the exclusive distributor of these incredible blades. The Tewarts had created an intricate display case for the knives and other blades they wished to sell. Jill and Trish knew they could sell every blade they purchased. Once the display case was empty, they would have the case refilled when they returned on their next trip to the universe. The Tewarts being very good businessmen, insured that Jill and Trish were treated fairly with each transaction. Jill always paid the Tewarts in gold Galax coins, the international currency of choice, which pleased the Tewarts. The Tewarts had refused credit to every other merchandiser that had approached them. When Trish had approached them with hard currency in the form of Galax for their goods, they quickly made a decision to trade with The Empress. Trish had told Jack of her willingness to pay eight gold Galax coins (roughly eighty thousand Earth dollars) for the purchase of the huge display case with the blades.

The planet of Nehica was devoid of most plant life, so the Tewarts had to import all of the products they required to produce clothing and household items. For many centuries, the Tewarts had used a plant much like the bamboo found on the planet Earth from a neighboring planet to produce much of their clothing. The planet was very cold much of the time, and the inhabitants used the skins from sea mammals to protect themselves from the cold weather. They used the skins and fat extensively, just as earthlings had done since the beginning of human inhabitance on the planet.

Four of the female Tewarts business people had requested permission to teleport to The Empress to inspect and purchase bolts of cloth and sewing materials from Jill and Trish. Jill discussed any special requirements that the Tewarts may require on The Empress, and Jack assured Jill that The Empress would be very comfortable for the businesswomen and no special considerations would be required. Jack said that Jill and Trish could serve the females hot tea if they wished while they talked. Jack also explained that the women spoke fluent Chitter (the language of the human race on the planet Earth and much of the cosmos) and would require no translation.

When the four women teleported into the secure room, Jill quickly asked the computer to allow their visitors access into The Empress, and to watch over them in case they required any assistance or language interpretation. The computer understood the request and monitored every movement the Tewarts made aboard the vessel. Jill was amazed at how the Tewarts looked much like human women; they even giggled and whispered just like women from the planet Earth. The women had wished to see bolts of cloth and leather for producing clothing and handbags, so Jill and Trish had laid all their best material out on long tables in the cargo bay, and then leaned the hundreds of extra bolts along the walls for easy inspection.

When Jill had entered the cargo bay with the four visitors, she introduced the women to Trish. Trish quickly made friends with their guests. Trish always had a smile on her face and she never stopped talking. The women loved Trish’s attitude, her ability to provide fabric samples quickly, and her instant memory of pricing. Trish was getting along just fine, so Jill went to the kitchen and made hot tea and then sat up tables and chairs along an empty wall where the women could chat and discuss their purchases. As the women sat talking, sipping their tea, and nibbling on the brownies Jill had prepared the night before, she carefully observed the women’s bodies. They were so much like Trish and her that Jill wondered if the women were shape shifters, and had assimilated themselves into pleasing human forms. Jill made a mental note to research the Tewarts further after The Empress had left this universe. She wanted to find out a little more about these people. Jill also wondered what the Tewart males looked like, especially if they had no male pattern aboard The Empress to resemble. Jill decided not to pursue her uncertainty right now, but she would discuss all of her thoughts with the computer later.

Chapter 2 – The Purchase of a Beach House

Trish and Jill had had a very busy trading schedule in the last six months, and had worked very long hours. Now that Jill had time to consider Trish’s suggestion to vacation on planet Earth’s hot sunny west coast beaches, Jill smiled and called Trish to the ready room to discuss her thoughts a little further. When Trish stepped into the ready room, Jill put her arms around Trish’s neck, snuggled up close and said, “I need some fire in my life and your idea to vacation on the sunny beeches of California sparked my interest. Could we work out the details of this vacation if we try real hard?” Trish kissed Jill hard on the lips and said, “Let’s start right now.”

They both sat down at their control consoles and began researching a place to stay that overlooked the ocean and had lots of people close by. As they searched, Trish began giggling and Jill asked her to share what had made her giggle so. Trish said, “There is a beautiful home for rent overlooking the ocean just north of San Francisco. The house has a long stairway leading down to the ocean front beach just below the house. They hold volleyball tournaments there sometimes, and just north of the beach house is a nude beach.” Jill looked at Trish, smiled then said, “I could get my tush burned if I was not careful.” Trish said, “Not if I rubbed it really good with suntan lotion.” Jill said, “Girl, you are much too willing to get your hands on your cousin’s naked body.” Trish smiled and said, “We could kiss first if it would help.” Jill stood up, took Trish’s hand and walked with her to her quarters. She closed the door after she gently pulled Trish into the room, then said, “Computer, please do not disturb us unless The Empress is on fire.” Jill heard three chirps from the computer signifying its understanding of her command; Jill then heard a giggle from Trish as she slipped out of her flight suit.

After Trish and Jill had created their evening meal at the food replicator, they finished the discussion of the beach vacation. Trish said she would get a satellite picture and flyover of the house along with the beach, and then they could decide if the house would work for their vacation. When Jill walked into the control room, she saw that Trish was booking the house on the beach for three weeks, starting four days from today. She had connected to the owner via one of Earth’s satellite instant messaging services. Trish and the owner of the house were communicating by typing messages on their keyboards, then reading the others response instantly on their own monitor screens. Then the owner sent Trish the estimated charges, including a deposit on the property. Jill made a noise in her throat when she read the charges, but Trish transferred the Galax into the owner’s bank account without any hesitation.

When the transaction was complete, the owner asked if the teleportation address shown on his monitor was accurate. Trish checked it and typed in her answer, explaining that the address was in fact accurate. The owner teleported two house keys, a list of emergency numbers in case the girls needed his assistance with the care of the house, and a bottle of very nice red wine. Trish giggled when Jill opened the package. She said, “I wonder if the owner is married, maybe he should be my first conquest when we arrive in our vacation home.” Jill rolled her eyes, then walked away from Trish, but wondered to herself if Trish could really hook up with a man that easily. As she walked towards her room, she decided that Trish was in fact very capable of making the owner her first conquest, if he was not married or already attached to a partner. Jill realized how very shy she really was with men, but Trish on the other hand would walk up to a man, or a woman for that matter, and simply ask them if they would like to be her lover for the night. Jill was certain she could never be so bold with someone she hardly knew.

Jill and Trish spent the next three days talking to their customers and packing the things they desperately needed at the beach house. The must take list was very simple for both girls, bikinis for Trish, suntan lotion for Jill. When Trish had asked what Jill planned to pack to wear for the next three weeks, Jill held up the squeeze bottle of suntan lotion and sat down naked on the bed. Trish smiled, but informed Jill that she re
ally needed more than just lotion and her birthday suit. What if they met some nice people and wanted to go out on the town for the night. Jill finally gave in and said, “I will pack some very nice clothes for the special occasions and then pack nothing at all for the rest of the time.” Trish giggled and said, “I can live with that.”

When Jill went to the storage locker for condoms, she discovered all the drawers were empty except for one. The drawer was marked, snugger fit. Jill laughed aloud as she realized that Trish had already picked her victims physical attributes for their vacation. Jill placed the remaining condoms into her travel pack, and spoke aloud, “I have no intentions of turning down mister right, no matter what size condom he requires.” The computer spoke to Jill and said, “Wise choice my friend,” then chirped three times to her. When Jill found Trish in her room packing, Jill sat her travel pack down on Trish’s bed, pulled out the condoms that remained in the locker and said, “My friend, you really must share a few of the studded condoms with me. These slippery lubricated things that were left in the locker will not do at all.” Trish began to laugh and walked to the dresser where she picked up a small green tote filled with the items of special need for the trip. Inside the tote were more than fifty condoms of all but one size. There were some studded, some ribbed, some lubricated, multiple colors, green, blue, red and clear. When Jill put her hand into the tote, she also pulled out four bottles of KY lubricant. Jill looked at Trish, and Trish became defensive, put her hands in the air and said, “A girl can hope, can she not?” Jill asked if the tote was community property, or just hers. Trish said, “I hope that you use at least half of the items in this tote or I will be one very sore woman by the time we return in three weeks.” Jill said, “You don’t plan to bring a few unused condoms back to The Empress?” Trish looked Jill directly in the eyes, smiled, and said, “Nope, not as long as there is even one erect penis left on that hot sandy beach.”
