Remembering Brittney’s earlier comments, Draya knew she had to still be angry about what he tried; she was never one that liked anything forced on her. Thinking about Natalia, Draya turned to look her way a saw a slight smile appear. “How is she sitting here smiling? It has to be embarrassing.”
“She has known for a few months and agreed to keep her silence until you came back. She loves you, Draya. She says you’re like one of her own, and she felt bad for standing back letting you get slandered all over town while Deena walked free. This is a good thing, sweetheart. Now you can walk out of here with your head held high.”
Grabbing Brenda and giving her a strong hug, Draya exhaled and relaxed. She didn’t have anything this extravagant in mind when she thought about Deena’s fate. She knew the woman was dirty, she knew she was trifling, but she had no idea she was this scandalous.
Letting Brenda go, Draya stepped back and found comfort in Liam’s arms. Looking around the room, Draya nodded to Brittney and she nodded back. She was nervous that this could have caused a problem with them, but seeing her look, she knew they were okay.
Leaving with Liam, Draya felt a huge weight lifted from her shoulders and took one look back at the center. She would continue at her church with no regrets and she would live her life happily with Liam. As much as she hated to admit it, she had prayed for karma to catch up to Deena and now that it had, it felt good. She always knew karma was a bitch, but she never knew that bitch’s name was Brenda, her soon to be mother-in-law. Yes, she was marrying into one hell of a family, but she already knew that.
