by Winters, Rebecca

“In college, I majored in criminology, then went to police academy. From there I worked my way up so I could join the Rangers and be just like my old buddy Gibb.”

Dana clung to him. “What a beautiful thing he did for you.”

“It was.” His voice had grown husky.

“No wonder you had to find the men who killed him.”

His chest heaved. “Pat Hardy claimed Gibb was smiling down at us after Glen and Lewis were caught. I’m sure he was because he knew I found you in the process.

“Dana, what would I have done if you’d never come into my life?” he cried, tightening his arms around her.

“I ask that question about you constantly. Maybe it’s time we stopped saying what if, and started to accept the fact that we have each other in our lives, for the rest of our lives and beyond.”

He hugged her tight. “Together forever?”

“You’ve looked through the telescope. You’ve seen galaxies and universes going on to infinity. Why not us?”

“I love the way you think, Mrs. Riley.”

She kissed his lips quiet. “I love you.”
