by Ava Frost

A woman cleared her throat behind him and he turned around, it was Lorelai’s mother this time. They must think him to be a cruel heartless alpha, what was it with everyone wanting to know if he’ll take care of her?

“I told your husband, Lorelai will be fine,” he said blankly and crossed his arms.

Her mother smiled, and he saw the same glint in her eyes that he saw in Lorelai’s so many times before, it was one of compassion and bravery, “That’s not what I’m here for, I’m sure you’ll take care of her. I have a request though.”

“And what would that be?” he asked curiously.

“Before you take her with you, I’d like to talk to my daughter.”

It was a strange request, since she was technically no longer a member of the Shadow Fangs, but she was the mother of his new mate, surely he could grant her that wish.

“I want to be on the road by morning, so if you want to have a moment with her, make sure she’s ready by the time we leave.”

She nodded once, and then headed towards the forest to find her daughter, and Dominic left to go back into the bar. He needed his music, it was the only thing that kept him sane and in control.

  Chapter 4

“Sometimes our walls exist just to see who has the strength to knock

  them down.”

  ― Darnell Lamont Walker

Dominic woke up to the sound of the door to the cabin opening up, and knew immediately that it was Lorelai. In silence she went and sat on the drum in the corner of the cabin. It was still dark and although he could only see her silhouette he knew she was naked and his body responded almost immediately. The scent of stale blood also hung heavily in the air.

If only I could get into her mind, he thought as he shifted to sit upright. But he knew that until he consummated the union with her, she would remain a complete stranger to him. Maybe he should have taken her there and then and made her his own, but the idea of having her submit to him unwillingly left a bitter taste in his mouth.

“So this is it now? I’m yours,” she stated flatly.

  “I believe so,” he said.

There was a deafening silence from her and he knew it was the calm before the storm. He didn’t take her to be so easily overthrown or intimidated.

“Speak your mind woman,” he said as he stood up, he wanted to see the fire he saw in her when he first laid eyes on her, and if it meant provoking her, then so be it.

“My mind?” she said mordantly. “It’s obvious that whatever goes on in my mind is irrelevant to you or anyone else for that matter.”

“That’s not entirely true, our laws are different Lorelei, and if I approached another alpha’s daughter, or any omega from an opposing pack, without approval, it would have dire consequences,” he said wishing he could at least see the expression on her face.

“Well it’s time that changed, because I can tell you know, if, and I mean if I ever have your child, I will kill the bastard who doesn’t have the backbone to ask her directly. Only a weak bastard would do such a thing,” she spat out and stood up glaring at him.

His blood rushed south at the sight of her. She stood before him, naked and determined and her confidence radiated like the morning sun incinerating everything in its path. And even though she was stained with stale blood from the night before, he couldn’t deny that he wanted her there and then. His beast needed her as much as it needed its next feed.

Lorelai knew exactly what was expected of her, her mother made it clear to her that she had no choice but to go with Dominic and take her place by his side. It was a matter of survival for the Shadow Fangs, without the alliances of the southern packs they would soon be scattered to the far corners of the earth. The hunters were getting stronger in the north and very soon, there would be no place for them here.

She could see the burning desire in his eyes as he stood staring at her, but in her rage she erected walls that not even she could break down.

“So let’s do this,” she said and took another step towards him.

“There is no need to rush this,” he said and stood his ground.

“There is no other way, if I’m going to be leaving with your pack by the time the sun rises; we need to get this over and done with. There’s no way in hell that I’m going to run blindly with a pack I don’t know.”

As awkward as this was, she knew she had no choice. She will simply have to think of her favorite shoes when he shoves his dick in her, which would be the only way she’ll be able to survive this.

  “I don’t think that’s…”

“Oh for god sakes, and you call yourself an Alpha?!” she retorted and shoved past him and kneeled on the bed with her ass sticking up in the air. She looked over her shoulders and glared at him daringly. “Do what you must.”

She half expected him to run for the hills, but instead he stripped down and walked over to her and as he approached her, she buried her face in the mattress. Please let this be over soon, she said bracing herself.

Unexpectedly, Dominic wrapped his arm around her waist and flipped her onto her back pinning her arms above her head, “We might be shifters, but if I am going to fuck you, I’m going to do it the right way.”

Shocked by the fact that his assertiveness was a total turn on she shoved against his shoulders but it was in vain, he was much stronger than her.

“We are animals, why deny the truth?” she challenged as she wriggled under his grip.

“The only animal around here is you,” he growled and then plundered her lips.

This cannot be happening, I can’t possibly be turned on by this, she thought as his lips slanted against hers. Even if she willed it, she couldn’t deny her wolf its desires. Her beast was begging to be fucked, her body was yearning to be touched and her mind was fighting a losing battle.

  Chapter 5

“The greatness of the man's power is the measure of his surrender.”

  ― William Booth

He sensed her apprehension but his wolf sensed his mate, he wanted her. The scent of her arousal beseeched him and drew him in and he was quickly passing the point of no return. Her lips finally parted for his and his tongue darted into her mouth, tasting her sweet surrender. His wolf howled in triumph as he felt her body soften beneath him. As he feasted on her lips, they changed from tight and cold, to soft and moist. Their tongues swirled together synchronously. With her hands still locked in a vice, he trailed one hand down along her raised arm and over her left breast. She was soft and feminine despite her cold exterior. Even though her mind still fought him, her body reacted differently. There was no more room for doubt.

He kissed down her neck and his desire to explore her took over. He dipped his head down and took one nipple in his mouth circling it with his tongue. The soft moans that escaped Lorelei brought a wicked grin to his lips. He had her where he wanted her, she wanted him. He trailed his hand down over her flat stomach and then moved it over her sex; she was soaking wet, and ready for him.

“Do you still think we’re just animals?” he whispered against her soft breast.

“Y-yes, we are, you are an animal,” she said.

One by one the walls she erected were starting to crumble, he could sense it, her wolf wanted him as much as his wolf wanted her. With his hand nestled between her thighs he teased her, pinching her clit between his index and middle finger, eliciting yet another groan of pleasure from her.

“Just get on with it,” she said breathlessly, but he knew her body was enjoying this.

He slid his finger deep into her and her body tensed, only momentarily and then her hips started moving and rotating to the rhythm of his finger strokes.

“Dominic, please,” she begged and again struggled against his grip, “just…”

“Just what?” he teased as he pumped a second finger into her. Her muscles tightened around his fingers and he knew she was ready for him, but he wanted her to beg him.

“Please, I cannot stand this any longer.”

  Dom
inic could hear the slight tremble in her voice, and moved to look into her eyes.

“Tell me you want me, tell me that you want me to fuck you,” he commanded.

And even though her eyes were still as cold as ice, she raised her hips taking his fingers deeper, “Fuck me,” she pleaded and let out a soft growl, her eyes flashing from grey to amber.

He did not wait for her to beg again, if she allowed him now, she will allow him tomorrow and the next day. He locked eyes with her and released her hands above her head.

He knelt back on the edge of the bed and pushed her legs apart by her knees, spreading her wide before him. Her scent was intoxicating, he had to be sure that her body wanted him and if there was the slightest chance that her body was not as responsive as he hoped it would be, he would get up right now and walk away. And as he inhaled deeply he smelled her need and it drew him in like a magnet. With one even stroke, he dipped his hips downward and entered her. Her back arched and her legs came around his back pulling him into her. His body surged with primal dominance as he thrusted into her core. With each thrust he felt her draw closer and closer to her climax.

He met her gaze and he saw the same desire that flooded through his veins, behind the veil of trepidation. Between her whispered outcries of pleasure and his grunts and groans he captured her mouth again, and kissed her fiercely. An indescribable sensation jolted him as her body started to tremble and her walls tightened around his cock. There was no space between them, only the heat from their bodies and then a surge of something he had never experienced, rocked through his entire being. Suddenly he could hear her voice in his head, like encrypted code being deciphered, their minds collided telepathically.

  “Mine,” his wolf cried out

“Not even if the world had to end,” hers responded

  “Forever.”

  “Never.”

And as their minds fought they both reached the summit of pleasure. Lorelai cried out in ecstasy, her body convulsed with pleasure, as Dominic flooded her with his essence, branding her, for life.

  “Mine,” his wolf howled again.

  “Forever,” her wolf responded.

“Get off of me, we’re done,” she said and shoved him away from her. “You own me now.”

Dominic rolled over unto his back and rubbed his hand down over his face. His body still blazing with the aftermath of his release, and although Lorelai’s mask of indifference once again cloaked her, he knew it won’t be long before she softened to the idea of being his mate.

  Chapter 6

“Shovel today's challenges for your tomorrow's freedom.”

  ― Aniekee Tochukwu Ezekiel

Lorelai’s mother had left a bag with her clothes at the door to the cabin, and the fact that her mother may have overheard the whole escapade the night before mortified her. But then again, her mother was the one who told her to get it over and done with. She was the one who promised her that once they have completed their union, things will get better, but it was a lie. Call it stubbornness, but she still hated the fact that she was forced into the union. She couldn’t give a shit if her body yearned for more, or if her heart now beat in synchronized rhythm with Dominic’s, she still wanted her freedom.

“Lorelai, we’re leaving,” she heard Dominic drilling into her mind. Not only was she his mate now, she was going to have to endure his constant jibber jabber, and she was already considering a witch hunt, hoping to find one who would be able to sever the bond between them.

“I’ll leave when I’m ready,” she thought back at him and then turned her iPod on full blast, if she was going to have to use music to drown him out, she was about to be the most dedicated Slip Knot fan this side of the hemisphere.

  *******

A week later, they arrived in Monterey, Virginia, miles away from home. Lorelai missed her pack even though she couldn’t forgive her parents for giving her away like a disposable object. But the more time she spent with Dominic’s pack the more she discovered similarities between them. And the more she started to wonder why there was a separation between the packs in the first place.

She remembered being raised believing that the Southern packs were the sworn enemies, yet here she was amongst them. With the exception of one or two members, the others were very welcoming and accepting of her presence. She still however refused to give into the feelings that slowly started to surface towards Dominic.

Unlike her pack, who had to live in the shadows of some ghost town, the Silver Fangs basically owned the town; the entire population of Monterey was werewolves, who created a sustainable life without being hunted. The only logical explanation for this was that they were superb at hiding who they really were.

“So this is where you all live?” she asked curiously as she took in the sites around her.

“Yeah, pretty much. It’s convenient getting to hide in plain sight,” he said as he led her to his home, “every now and again we do get nosy people who try to dig up the truth, but thankfully they haven’t succeeded so far.”

The door opened and he leaned in and kissed the older woman on her cheek.

“Mother, this is Lorelai,” he introduced her.

The older woman looked past him at her, “Hello Lorelai, I’m Elvira. So you’re Marcus’ daughter?” she asked inquisitively.

“Yes, I am,” she replied, “Do you know him?”

The woman stilled and nodded once, and without a word she turned and headed back into the house. Dominic glanced at her, I have no idea how she knows him.

Sure you don’t, just like you failed to tell me yourself that you wanted me as your mate. She thought to him.

  That was different, he defended.

  Whatever.

“Come, I’ll show you our room and you can freshen up,” Dominic said and headed inside.

“I’m sorry, not to be rude or anything, but I’m not sharing a room with you,” she said flatly.

“Beggars can’t be choosers’ sweetheart, so I suggest you get acquainted with the house and your sleeping arrangements. The floor is big if you insist.”

Great, Mr. Dickhead is back, she thought as she entered the house.

“I suggest you keep your thoughts to yourself, your thoughts are no longer yours,” he said, giving her a cautioning look and she was tempted to retaliate and give him her best shot, but for some reason her wolf submitted to his authority.

“You have to learn to control your anger. I know it’s not the best of situations, but this is bigger than just you. This union is the only way your father’s pack would have access to the south.”

Lorelai understood that, and although she hated being here, thousands of miles away from her home, she also knew the consequences of her actions if she was to disobey her alpha. If there was one common law amongst wolves, it was the fact that no matter what pack you found yourself in, the alpha was ultimately the ruler. And anyone who opposed him would have to fight to the death. Winner takes all.

Later that evening, she found herself in a barnyard hoedown, where everyone celebrated the pack’s return. She wasn’t use to such festivities, and found it overwhelming. While Dominic mingled with his pack, she sat at a corner table eyeing the stale looking corndogs. She was in way over her head, and after several people came and introduced themselves all she wanted was to hide in some deserted corner away from the world.

“So how is Marcus these days?” Dominic’s mother asked as she came to sit next to her.

“He was fine the last time I saw him,” she said, curious as to how Elvira knew her dad, “How do you know him?”

Elvira had a far off look in her eyes as she looked over to the stage where her son, as always, played the guitar and sang. “I used to know him very well when I was younger. I wasn’t always with the Silver Wolves.”

That came as a surprise, Lorelai thought as she shifted in her chair, “Where were you before the Silver Wolves?”

“It’s a long story, perhaps another time. So how are you settling in?”
>
Okay then, I’ll have to figure this out myself. “It’s a nice place, not at all what I expected,” she said quietly and took a sip of her drink, “The pack seems to have accepted me without question.”

Elvira laughed softly and took her drink from her, “They really have no choice, if they dare oppose the alpha’s choice of a mate, they will be banished from the pack.”

Stunned when Elvira took her drink and downed it on her behalf, she sat back folding her arms, “That’s comforting to know.”

She looked over to where Dominic stood playing his guitar. She remembered the night she saw him at Rustic Shed while singing and staring straight at her. The memory evoked a chain reaction. Her body yearned for his, her inner wolf was howling for attention and this time she didn’t feel the need to suppress it. Instead she tried to allow herself to bring down her own fallible defenses.

When she first saw him she thought he was hot, his smile was captivating, but more so, she wondered how his hands would feel strumming every inch of her body the way he strummed that guitar. How he would strike chords that made her senses sing in harmony. If only it stopped there. Had her father not promised her to him without her consent she wouldn’t have felt so betrayed. She shoved her chair back and excused herself from Elvira then made her way outside, desperate for a breath of fresh air.
