Soulmate: Feel My Heart Beat Book 1 Page 5

“That’s a very nice looking ride you have there,” Harold murmured with raised eyebrows as he glanced at the car.

“Thank you, it’s a personal favourite,” William replied politely, golden eyes twinkling with amusement.

“Let’s not stand around out here all day, come on, everyone inside for some morning tea.” Naomi ushered the three of them inside and Daniel squared his shoulders, it was going to be a long day.

  ***

His mother had been surprisingly well behaved during their morning and over lunch. There had been a few teasing suggestions that earned a blush but nothing major. Yet she had this mischievous glint in her eyes that had Daniel rather worried.

“Dan, dear, did you bring those photos for Tammy?”

“Oh yeah, they’re in my bag in the car.”

“I’m just going to start getting dinner ready. It’s going to take a little while as it’s a special dinner, so why don’t you pop over with Will? She’s really looking forward to getting the photos. Oh, I’ll grab your bags if you get them out and leave them in the living room.”

William stood and Daniel followed him out to the car. “Tammy?” he questioned.

“Yeah, she lives next door. I took some photos of her grandkids when they stopped by to visit. They all live in another state so they don’t come down very often. They passed through New York so I showed them around a little for a day and snapped off the photos for her.”

William pulled out both their bags and handed Daniel his. “That was nice of you.” Daniel just shrugged.

“She’s lived next door to us as long as I can remember and she’s always coming over with fresh vegetables or baking to share with my parents. She used to sneak me sweets when I was younger.” Daniel smiled at the memory. “It was Mom’s suggestion, but I thought it would be nice to give her something back.” Daniel pulled out a small photo album from his bag before passing it over to William. “Hold this, I’ll just throw the bags inside.”

Daniel grabbed William’s bag as well and ducked inside to return a few seconds later empty-handed. He took back the photo album and led the way next door. A few knocks on the door and a yell from inside could be heard. The door swung open to reveal a tiny elderly lady with snow white hair and a warm smile.

“Danny!” He leaned down to give her a quick hug. For all that she looked rather frail there was a very intelligent and playful gleam in her bright eyes.

“Hello, Tammy, I brought the photo album for you.”

“Oh, that’s wonderful, Dan! But before you come in, you must introduce me to the strapping young man behind you.”

“William Hunt, it’s a pleasure to meet you,” William said smoothly while Daniel spluttered.

“Oh my! Handsome and well mannered!” She reached forward and gave his bicep a squeeze. “Strong too. That’s your car there?” she asked, nodding to the flashy sports car at the curb.

  “It is indeed.”

“And wealthy enough to provide for another. You caught yourself quite the soulmate, Dan.” Daniel’s cheeks were burning and he wanted to sink through the ground in embarrassment. “Now, come in, come in.” She ushered them both inside to feed them tea and baked sweets, which William politely declined, while she went through the photo album with Daniel.

“Ahh, this is such a wonderful gift! I can’t see my lovely grandchildren in person very often but at least I can see their smiling faces in picture! Speaking of grandchildren, now that you have found your soulmate, that’s something you will have to start thinking about!” Daniel choked on his biscuit.

“Excuse me?!” he finally croaked out.

“Well, you cannot tell me you are not sleeping with this attractive specimen of a man.” Daniel thought he might just learn if it’s possible to die of embarrassment. “And clearly he can provide more than well enough for both of you plus another if he is driving around in that.” She shot William a piercing look. “You seem sensible enough, I am assuming you didn’t put yourself into debt to get such a vehicle?”

William was looking highly amused at the entire situation. “Not at all.”

“Good.” She turned back to a beet-red Daniel. “I’m sure Naomi would love little ones running around. You should get started soon, adoption is a long process.”

Why did everyone do this to him?

  ***

They had managed to escape the grandchild onslaught from Tammy to be home in time for dinner. It was an event that went surprisingly smoothly and Daniel was getting suspicious. His mother was normally as bad as Tammy for embarrassing him and yet there had only been a few teasing remarks. It wasn’t until it was late and everyone was heading to bed that he realised what he had been missing the entire day.

“Your bags are in the guest room and I left towels out for you. Make sure to show Will where to find everything. Sleep well both of you!”

  Guest room?

  “Wait, Mom!”

“It’s fine dear. You’re a big boy and he’s your soulmate.”

  “But-!”

“Good night!” And with that both of his parents disappeared off into their own room.

“What, exactly, is wrong?” William asked curiously as he watched him with raised eyebrows.

  “We…are sharing a room.”

  “What’s so wrong with that?”

Daniel wasn’t looking at William but he could hear that the smirk was back in place. Why didn’t he realise sooner?

“I just…fine, follow me.” He led the way to the guest room, converted from his old bedroom. Inside, their bags sat in the corner and two folded towels perched on the end of a rather small double bed.

“Are you that embarrassed to share a bed with me?”

“Mom shouldn’t have done this, she should have checked it was okay first,” Daniel replied with a groan.

“You get embarrassed very easily. She’s right, you’re a big boy and I am your soulmate. I promise not to bite too much.” Daniel’s head whipped around to stare at him with wide eyes in embarrassed curiosity. Once he had regained his senses, he quickly showered while William made a few calls, then showing him where to find everything.

Daniel perched at the edge of the bed, waiting for William to exit the shower. He sat in his boxers, feeling rather put on the spot, and he was unsure if he should throw a t-shirt on as well. Why did his mother do things like this to him? His internal debate about the t-shirt was interrupted by William entering wearing only a towel slung low about his hips. Daniel suddenly realised he had never seen the man in any state of undress and found himself staring. Damn, those abs.

“Like what you see?” He was jolted out of his observation by a very amused voice. William had walked to the end of the bed and removed the towel. Daniel saw a firm ass, sculpted legs and-

He quickly turned around and felt his face burn. Holy shit, the man was huge. “What are you doing?!” he exclaimed, alarmed.

He heard a deep chuckle and felt the bed shift underneath him as William settled in on the other side.

“I prefer to sleep naked. Now, are you going to turn off the light?”

Daniel scrambled up to flick off the lights. He carefully made his way to the bed and eased himself under the covers, all too aware of the heat radiating off the person beside him. He had just settled down when arms reached out and suddenly he found himself on his side, nose at the hollow of William’s neck, with his whole body pressed up against William’s. He could feel the hard muscles shifting against him and a heavy arm wrapped around his waist. He lay there tense for several minutes but William made no more moves. After a while he relaxed and was soon lulled to sleep by the warm embrace and the soft, even heartbeat at his ear.

  Chapter Six: Moan

William woke slowly, gradually coming to awareness. A movement against him reminded him that he wasn’t in his penthouse apartment. He could feel the soft, even breath from a still sleeping Daniel flutter gently against his neck. They were lying in much the same way as they had fallen asleep, the
only difference being that Daniel was pressed much closer to him. His little soulmate must have snuggled closer in his sleep. William cracked an eye open to be met with a mop of blond hair in the dim light. It must still be early; only the barest rays of light filtered through the gap in the curtains. William shut his eye again and tightened his grip on his soulmate. He was pleasantly warm, comfortable, and rather loathe to move.

Ken had been on his case about taking a vacation for a while now, who would have thought a weekend at his potential in-laws would be just what he needed? It had been a highly entertaining day, contrary to Daniel’s earlier concerns. His mother had been fine, except for their sleeping arrangements. Not that William was complaining at all. Tammy’s lecture on grandchildren, while startling at first, became very amusing once he realised she was going on purely to tease Daniel. She hid it well, only the sparkle of mischief in her eyes giving her away and while she was probably partially serious, she had seemed to take great pleasure in Daniel’s constant blush. What he was most pleased about, however, was the surprising declaration from Daniel in the car.

“I can’t stand beside you if I don’t know all of you.”

It seemed that his little soulmate was full of surprises. He was determined to keep Daniel out of his business but that statement had given him pause. William was still very, very reluctant to consider letting Daniel get even a suggestion of his underworld dealings but that stubborn set to his jaw suggested that he wasn’t about to back down. Maybe he could distract him with more pleasurable activities?

He was eager to claim his ‘good behaviour’ reward, particularly after the wide-eyed blush and second almost confession he got for mentioning it. Truthfully, he had been keen to claim it last night but Daniel had been too tense so William planned on some languid, lazy morning activities instead. He was interested to see and taste more of Daniel. From what he had discovered, his little soulmate was inexperienced but very responsive and that was just gathered from a few kisses and wandering hands. He nuzzled into Daniel’s hair, content to doze back off to sleep for now.

When he awoke again sometime later, it was to a hand wandering across his skin. Daniel was still tucked up against him but one of his hands gently explored his body. Fingers trailed across his hip and moved to skim over his lower back. William didn’t move, not wanting to give away that he had woken up just yet. If he could, he would have been purring under the attention. He wondered how long it would take Daniel to notice the effect his attentions were causing.

The hand had moved back across his hip and started to map out his abs when the photographer suddenly tensed. Looks like he had finally registered what, exactly, was poking into his side. Daniel pulled away from him and he opened his eyes partway to look into wide blue eyes.

“You’re awake!” his soulmate exclaimed, an equal mixture of alarm and mortification.

“Mmm. Don’t stop on account of that, I was quite enjoying the attention.” Ah, the blush was back. William could see the embarrassment warring with curiosity on Daniel’s face. It was obvious that he wanted to but seemed as though he wasn’t quite brave enough to admit it yet. His little soulmate stayed frozen in place. “No? That’s a shame, but that just makes it my turn.”

William moved the arm that was wrapped around Daniel’s waist, carefully trailing fingers across his back then along his hip, mimicking Daniel’s earlier actions. He noted any spot that caused a reaction before working his way up to softly pinch and roll a perky nipple between his fingers. Daniel gasped at the action and his breathing sped up. The blond still lay with his head on his arm and William moved his hand so he could tangle his fingers into the blond hair.

William gave a light tug on the strands, receiving a small moan in response, and pulled Daniel into a kiss while he continued to torment the pink nub. The angle of the kiss was awkward and sloppy with how they were lying but William was still too content to move from how they were positioned. He pulled back from the kiss just enough to be able to watch Daniel’s face as his hand caressed its way down until he felt the silky material of his underwear against his fingers. He watched Daniel’s pupils dilate with desire as he palmed his erection through the fabric.

“Eager for a taste, are we?” he asked with a dark smirk. He could feel the dampness of the taut fabric under his fingers.

William pulled at the waistband of the boxers and slipped Daniel’s cock free. A moan deeper than any so far greeted him as he took the cock in hand and began to work at it. A few more long, slow stokes and he was eliciting a constant stream of mewls from his soulmate. The little cries of honest pleasure were far more arousing than the loud fake moans that many people seemed to think sounded good. He leaned in for another messy kiss, swallowing the small cries and gasps as he lined himself up alongside Daniel to fist them both together. Leisurely working his hand up and down both their lengths now, he pulled away from the kiss to continue watching the pleasure fill Daniel’s face.

“Ahh, there are so many pleasurable things to introduce you to,” William drawled as he leaned forward again, nipping at Daniel’s bottom lip to draw a deeper moan out amongst the little mewls. “It’s such a shame that we can only have a small taste now.”

The photographer seemed beyond words by this point, eyes closed and mouth open in pleasure, body rocking to the rhythm of William’s hand. He sped up his strokes, feeling the heat coiling low in his gut.

  “W-William!”

  “Hmm?”

  “Ooh, I-I…I’m-!”

“Cum for me Daniel, show me the face you make when you cum.” William pitched his voice low and deep, earning a shiver. Daniel’s hand wrapped around his bicep as though desperately trying to hold on before he tipped over the edge with a moan. William felt him tense and quiver as he worked the still-moaning younger man through his orgasm. A few more strokes and William let himself follow. They both lay there panting, coming down from the high slowly. Daniel’s whole body was flushed now, and he stared at him with wide eyes.

“I can’t believe you did that here!” Daniel hissed, then he groaned. “How the hell are we going to get this cleaned up without Mom knowing? It’s all over the sheets!”

William just gave him his trademark smirk, bringing up his sticky hand up and licked one of his fingers for a taste. Those mesmerising blue eyes widened even further as he stuttered unintelligibly at him. He leaned in for another deep kiss and was pleased when Daniel didn’t pull away even though he could taste himself on his tongue.

“Somehow, I doubt your mother cares that much, considering she is the driving force behind us sharing a bed right now,” William said after pulling back just enough to speak. “How about a shower? I’ll wash your back if you wash mine.”

“What?! Knowing you, you just want to jump me in the shower!”

“Not this time, but maybe if there was better soundproofing,” William retorted with a small laugh as Daniel let out a strangled sound. “I was just giving you an opportunity to continue your exploration from before.”

Daniel squeaked and wriggled out of his grip, pulling up his boxers as he went. “You can have your own damn shower and don’t even think about coming in!”

Daniel let the room with a huff, leaving William chuckling on the bed. This was proving to be a very entertaining weekend.

  ***

Up and freshly showered, they both made their way into the kitchen for breakfast. Daniel still looked a little flushed from their earlier activities and William was feeling rather smug. After seeing such delicious reactions, he was even more eager to get his little soulmate into his bed for an uninterrupted evening. There were so many things he looked forward to introducing him to. Daniel glanced back at him before they entered the kitchen and William flashed him a predatory grin. He was rewarded with wide eyes and a deepening of that lovely blush. He didn't think he would ever tire of that expression. Embarrassed and with just a hint of curiosity lurking in those bright eyes. He brushed past Daniel and stepped into the kitchen.

"Good morning, Will! I trust you slept well?"

"I did actually," he said with a slight smile at Naomi. "I’m feeling very refreshed this morning."

He pulled out a seat at the little table and gave a nod to Harold in greeting. Daniel finally shuffled into the kitchen and sat down, elbows on the table with his head down as though trying to hide the persistent blush.

"Good morning, Dan! Why are you trying to hide?" He slowly brought his head up to glare at his mother, cheeks still flushed.

"You're looking rather flushed, dear, are you all right?"

He huffed, "It's because you both keep being mean to me."

"Us both? Ah." She grinned and William could see the playful twinkle in her eye. "Was Will teasing you?" Daniel flushed more and William was hard-pressed not to grin. "I'm sure it's because you are just so cute when you blush!"

He gave up trying to not smile and Daniel sent him a glare rendered ineffectual by the red staining his cheeks. He was beginning to think he should add teasing Daniel to his list of favourite pastimes. Right under devouring him whole, because William was sure that would end up right at the top of the list. He wondered if on the way back to Now York he could just not drop Daniel off to his apartment and instead take him back to the penthouse for an uninterrupted evening of pleasure. He didn't think his soulmate would appreciate being effectively kidnapped but William doubted any protests would last long; he was confident in his abilities to render the photographer incoherent. He filed that thought away for later, it had merit.

“But I’m glad you both slept well. You must live on your own, Will?” Naomi asked absently as she placed platters of food on the table.

  “I do, indeed.”

“It must get so lonely sometimes by yourself!”

“I work a lot so I’m generally only home to sleep,” William admitted with a small shrug.

“A workaholic, huh? That explains how you are doing so well for yourself, but you need to make sure you get plenty of rest and good food. It’s far nicer to have someone to curl up with at night, as I’m sure you know after last night.” William had to credit Naomi for wanting the best for her son, but he wondered how long it would take Daniel to realise what she was suggesting. “And Dan is an excellent cook, I taught him myself.”
