Tears leak from the corner of my eyes as another text flashes across the screen, this time from the last person I expected to be texting me this week. Flicking over to it, my heart stalls inside my chest as my eyes swiftly read over the scripted text. No, no, no!
Darlene: I’m so sorry to hear you’re leaving us, Sparrow. California, huh? Be sure to take pictures of you and Drake at the beach for me! I’m going to miss that little guy like crazy. Love you, girl!
“Please, don’t do this,” I sob, allowing my arm to fall next to me. Meeting his eyes, I know nothing I say will ever get through to him. Declan is on a mission. He’s bound and determined to bend me to his will.
And you know what? There’s absolutely nothing I can do about it. Either way, something tells me Declan will get his way. He won’t stop pushing and fighting until he finally gets us where he wants us. There’s no use in running.
