“Uh—”
Aubrey grabbed Sara from Beau and unceremoniously dumped the baby into Gavin’s arms. He took Sara, and Sara looked up at him and smiled her angelic smile and said, “Ga-ga.”
Gavin’s face lit up with a smile. “She already knows my name.”
Beau didn’t have the heart to tell him Sara called everyone and everything ga-ga. Instead, he rejoiced in the fact that Sara’s innocence could be a guiding force in healing the hurts for Gavin—as she’d been for himself and Aubrey. She’d been through a lot already in her young life, and yet she smiled, because she didn’t even realize she should do otherwise.
He’d do anything he could to make sure she stayed that way.
Gavin looked up at Beau. “Hey.”
“Hey yourself.”
Aubrey linked arms with both of them and beamed her own angelic smile.
