Corruption of the Heart (The Corruption Series Book 1) Page 24

by Jessica Manson

Gilda moaned with delight. She liked being fed from. And I liked her liking it. My body reacted without me telling it to. I pulled away from her neck and kissed her. She kissed me back. She ran her hands over my breast causing my nipples to harden. She pulled away from me pushing my head back to her neck. She turned to Tristan and kissed him. He growled with pleasure as she slipped her hand down his pants. She turned back to me and kissed me again. I rubbed my hands along her small frame feeling her body.

She removed her hand from Tristan’s pants and grabbed both of our faces. She pushed us together causing us to kiss. Heat rushed through my body. His lips were soft, gentle. He didn’t kiss me with passion but with love. I realized what was happening and pulled away from him. “Oh my God Tristan. What did we just do?” I started freaking out. “Odin is going to kill me.”

“No, he’s not. It was just a kiss Lilith. He doesn’t even have to know,” Tristan said.

“Oh my gosh. I didn’t just kiss you. I kissed her too. Two people in one day Tristan. How am I supposed to live with that?”

“It’s okay. I promise. Let’s just go. We will figure things out later.” He got up from the couch and walked over to the door. I followed. When he opened the door, I walked out first. He turned to Gilda, “Thank you.” He handed her two hundred-dollar bills before leaving. We got in his car, he drove off in silence.

The silence was awkward between us. It was making me uncomfortable. “Tristan, I’m sorry I put you in this position.”

“Lilith please don’t be. I’m not. We are friends and sometime friends kiss.”

  “Not married friends.”

“Look, it was a simple kiss. It meant nothing. And this won’t be a big deal if we promise right now to one, never tell a soul and two, it never happens again as long as you are married to Odin. Deal?”

“Deal,” I said, feeling a little bit better. We pulled up to the house and the adrenaline was wearing off and I was starting to feel exhausted again. “Are you sure you are okay?”

“Yes. I promise I am fine.”

“Okay. I am going to go nap. You know where I’ll be if anyone needs me.”

“Sweet dreams,” he said with a smirk.

Once I was asleep it didn’t take long for the laughter to start. It was so loud it was ringing in my ears. I was on the bridge pissed off this time instead of scared. “What do you want Slaaneth?” I asked through gritted teeth.

“You already know what I want my precious Lilith.”

  “Yeah, me dead. What’s new?”

“Yes, that’s right. My army will be moving in soon. They are just waiting for my command. It won’t be long now before they strike,” he said, as he appeared in front of me.

“I’m ready for them. We are all ready for them.”

  “Are you sure about that?”

  “Yes. Bring it.”

He looked at me funny tilting his head from side to side. He looked at my stomach then back at me with a big grin on his ugly face. “Oh my,” he said excited

  “What?” I asked confused.

“You don’t know do you? Tell me something Lilith how have you been feeling lately?”

  “What’s it to you?”

“Trust me. How have you been feeling?”

“If you must know not too well.”

“You are more valuable to me alive now. The joys of being pregnant. Although, this pregnancy won’t be easy. You must take care of yourself Lilith. For the baby’s sake.”

  “Excuse me but, what baby?”

“The one growing inside of you. From the looks of it you seem to be right at six weeks.”

  “I’m not pregnant.”

  “Oh yes dear, you are.”

“I can’t be,” I said, more to myself in shock. “Pregnant?”

“Yes. I must go now. But I will see you soon. Take care of that baby Lilith. I will be needing it.”

“You’re not getting my baby Slaaneth,” the sinister laughing started again as he disappeared.

As the dream faded I was jolted awake. I ran out of my room and into Tristan’s. “I need your help,” I said.

  “What’s wrong?” he asked.

“I had a dream about Slaaneth again. He told me I am pregnant. I need you to go out and get me a test. But Tristan this needs to stay between us. If I am, I would like to surprise Odin.”

“Of course. I’ll go now.” He left, and I went back to my room to wait impatiently.

It felt like he was gone for a very long time, but it actually only took him ten minutes. “Thank you.” I grabbed the test and headed for the bathroom. I peed on the stick and started to set my timer, but I didn’t need too. The test read positive in a matter of seconds. Tears rushed to my eyes and my hands grabbed my stomach. I am not ready for a baby, yet I am very excited about it.

I walked out of the bathroom and Tristan was waiting for me, “Well?” he asked. I nodded, and he wrapped me into his arms. “How do you feel?”

“Scared. Terrified. Excited.” I pulled away from him. “Don’t tell anybody yet. Odin needs to hear it first.”

  “I promise I won’t tell a soul.”

“I want to tell him now. I can’t wait,” I said, starting to get very excited.

We left my room and headed for the stairs. When we reached the bottom Daveh was waiting for me. “I was just headed up to get you, a guy brought a package for you Lilith. He said it was urgent that you get it. I put it on the desk in the library with your other mail,” she said.

“Okay. Thank you.” I left Daveh and Tristan by the stairs while I went to check out the package. It was a large manila envelope with my name on it. I opened it and pulled out the papers. There was a letter and some photos. My insides turned, I collapsed to the floor and began sobbing uncontrollably. My whole world had just been ripped right out from under me. I couldn’t process what I had just read, so I read the letter again and looked over the pictures making sure my eyes weren’t playing tricks on me and they weren’t.

It was true. I had the proof in my hand. And the pain was almost too much to bare. He killed my parents.
