“No worries, I am just taking the food out of the oven. Is everything all right?”

“Yeah, I broke a guitar string while I was recording a solo. Took me a minute to get it fixed. It’s all good.”

“Great. Well, I hope you’re hungry because I think I made too much food.”

“I knew you were making me dinner tonight so I skipped lunch. I am beyond hungry at this point.”

“Well drive faster and get your ass here then,” I laughed.

I heard my front door open and Beau called out, “Is this fast enough?”

I hung up my phone and ran into the living room to greet him at the door.

“Hey, Beau,” I said, wrapping my arms around his neck.

“Hello beautiful,” he answered, pulling me into a deep kiss.

His hands roamed down my sides and started to slide into the waist band of my jeans. I panicked that he was going to feel the hard little pooch in my stomach so I placed my hand on his chest and gently pushed away.

“Come on, dinner’s ready,” I said, taking his hand and tugging him into the kitchen.

He groaned and I could feel him tensing up…we’d barely had sex since I found out about the baby and I knew he was starting to get worried. Hopefully this would go well tonight and end with him not only being happy about being a father but with us being naked in bed together. This pregnancy was already making me crazy horny and it had been pure torture not to be able to grab Beau and have my way with him.

“It smells great in here,” he said as he sat down at the table. “How was your day today?”

“Um, it was good. I went with Ev to her doctor’s appointment today,” I fibbed. I had gone to see an obstetrician all right, but it wasn’t for Everleigh.

“Yeah? Is everything okay?” he asked, concerned.

Beau was already as in love with Ryder and Ev’s baby as we all were.

“Oh yeah, it was just her regular check up. Everything’s fine,” I said as I placed the bread on the table. “She’s right on schedule. They should be able to find out the sex of the baby on their next appointment.”

“That’s good. I really do hope it’s a boy because Ryder’s already been buying a bunch of blue shit for the nursery. So,” he said, tearing a piece off of the garlic bread and popping it into his mouth, “Ryder asked me today what we were doing for Memorial Day. He and Ev are hosting a big barbecue at their house.”

“Yeah, she mentioned that this afternoon. That sounds like fun. Did you tell them we’d go?” I asked, bringing the salad to the table and setting it down.

“Well, I kind of wanted to run something past you first.”

I picked up the lasagna and brought it to the table. After I set it down, I took a seat across from him and asked, “Oh yeah? What’s that?”

“How would you feel about going back to Muncie for the holiday?”

I looked up at him and cocked an eyebrow.

“Muncie? Why do you want to go back there?” I asked as I started to serve our dinner.

He shrugged his shoulders and said, “I know it’s not a huge holiday but I just thought maybe you’d like to spend it with your parents. I know you’ve missed them. Besides, I’ve never met them before and I think it’s a good idea for me to get to know them too.”

I smiled at his confidence. Even thought I knew Dad liked him and he wouldn’t have to try so hard to impress him, I still found it funny that he was so sure that my parents would love him.

I loved Beau’s idea of going home for the Memorial Day weekend. I really had missed my parents and they needed to know that they were going to be grandparents too. I really wanted to tell them in person and this trip would be perfect timing. There was just one person I had to tell first.

“So, you aren’t afraid that my parents won’t like you?” I asked.

He took a bite of the lasagna I placed on his plate and said, “Nope.”

I laughed. “Not even my dad? He’s an ex-SEAL, you know, and he’s been pretty disapproving of my boyfriends in the past.”

“I’m sure he was, but that’s because none of them loved you as much as I do. They were stupid enough to either walk away or let you go, and that makes them fucking idiots in my book.”

I smiled at him. “You have to be a little nervous, Beau, admit it. My mom will be an easy target but my dad on the other hand…”

“Look, it will be great if we get along, but I’m not going to walk away from this relationship if we don’t. I fought hard for you, Danni, and nothing is going to keep me away.”

My heart leapt and my stomach rolled at the same time. You say that now…I nudged his foot with mine under the table and forced a bite of food down my throat.

“Well, I do admire your cockiness.”

He let out a low groan and put his fork down.

“Damn it, Danni,” he said, his mouth turning up into a half smile.

“What is it?” I asked him.

“You just said cock. You’re killing me.”

  “I didn’t say cock, I said cockiness.”

“All I heard was cock and right now mine’s getting hard as fuck. I’m dying here baby…is there something up with you?”

Nerves washed over me…this was it. Beau and I had been having sex almost every day since we got back together but I’d wanted to slow down on it when I found out about the baby and I knew it was killing him. I knew I would have to tell him but seeing his worried expression was making me chicken out.

  “Uh, what do you mean?”

“I mean that we haven’t had sex in a week and we’ve hardly done it in the past few weeks. If there’s something wrong you have to tell me. Whatever it is, I’ll fix it.”

I reached out and touched his hand. “Beau, nothing’s wrong. I’m sorry I’ve been so distant.”

“Are you going to tell me what’s going on?” he asked, locking his fingers with mine. “I haven’t done anything, have I?”

“Oh no, of course not,” I said as reassuringly as I could.

“Then what is it? I can’t take another night without your gorgeous body in my bed.”

I took a deep breath and let go of his hand. I stood from the table and picked up an envelope that contained the ultrasound picture. I walked back to the table, my hands shaking as I handed him the envelope.

  “What’s this?”

I fought back a wave of nausea. “It’s why I’ve been so distant. But, wait until you open it. I want to tell you something first.”

He held his arm out to me and I walked to him willingly. I sat on his lap and he ran his fingers through my hair.

“You can tell me anything, Danni. Please talk to me, I’m starting to worry.”

I took another deep breath and started to tell him but I froze up. I couldn’t say the words. Instead of speaking I took his hand and placed it on my stomach right over the hard baby bump below my belly button.

“Beau, I…I…I can’t. Just open the envelope,” I choked out.

He furrowed his eyebrows and slid his finger into the envelope. I felt like I was going to pass out as I watched him take the picture out. He stared at it for a moment and then asked, “What’s this?”

“It’s an ultrasound picture,” I said softly.

“Is this Everleigh and Ryder’s baby?” he asked, looking at it and smiling.

  “N-not exactly.”

“Then who-” he started to ask but when he looked at it harder and then looked down to his hand that was resting over the baby, he looked up at me with wide eyes. I usually could tell what he was thinking by looking into his eyes, but right now his expression was unreadable and it scared me. This was what I was afraid of.

  “Danni?”

“Yes?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

“Is this…is this your ultrasound picture?”

Tears stung my eyes and I nodded. “Y-yes. I-”

I began to apologize but he cut me off. “This is our baby?”

My heart thudded in my chest as I
nodded again. The way he said our baby…was he happy?

  “Yes.”

He took a deep breath and blew it out through his lips. He was quiet for a few moments but it felt like a lifetime before he spoke.

“Is this why you’ve been pushing me away?”

I could no longer hold the tears and they started to pour down my cheeks.

“I’m sorry, Beau. I was scared. I know we didn’t intend for this to happen. Everything’s been perfect for us for the first time ever and I was terrified to tell you and that it would mess up what we have.”

“So you thought I would abandon you because you’re pregnant?” he asked me, hurt in his eyes.

“I don’t know. I just thought maybe it would strain things between us and I didn’t want that to happen. I love you so much and I am happy about this but you’ve been through so much this year-”

He put a finger to my lips to silence me. “Danni, stop. None of that matters right now. I’m just…”

“Just what?” I asked, the tears threatening to fall.

He put the picture down and pulled my mouth to his. He kissed me sweetly and said, “I’m so relieved…I thought you were getting freaked out about us. I never thought that this might be about a baby.”

The weight of the world lifted off my chest. “So, you’re not mad or freaked or anything?”

Beau smiled at me and any remaining worry I had melted away instantly.

“Hell no I’m not. You’re pregnant with my child, Danni. That means you’re stuck with me for good.”

I laughed and more tears fell but this time they were happy tears.

“Thank God,” I said and he flexed his hand on my stomach.

“So, I can assume this little bump right here is the baby?” he asked, smiling.

I nodded and said, “Yep. That’s it.”

He grinned and asked, “Is it normal for you to be showing this soon? I mean, you must have just found out, right?”

“Well, actually, I found out a few weeks ago but I was scared to tell you. I’m actually almost into my second trimester.”

“I’m a guy, Danni, and that make no sense to me. How far along are you?”

“Eleven weeks. At twelve weeks I’ll be into my second trimester.”

He looked at me and I could tell he was trying to figure out the math in his head. I fought back a laugh. Men could really be blind sometimes.

“It means that it happened the weekend we got back together.”

“Really now?” he asked, smiling. “See what all that pent up sexual energy did? My swimmers were so potent that once they were out they just had to find some way to impregnate you.”

I laughed and said, “I am still shocked that this happened. I thought I was covered by taking my pill but I wasn’t taking it at the same time everyday so…”

“So, baby makes three,” he said, grinning brightly at me. “So when is the due date?”

  “December fifth.”

“Good, that should give us plenty of time to set up a nursery and get you moved into my place.”

“Wait, what? What do you mean, ‘moved into your place’?” I asked.

“Danni, we are starting a family here. I want to be there for everything and it will be hard to do that if we don’t live together.”

“I get that, but this is already a lot to take in. You just found out you are going to be a father and now you want us to move in together just like that? Are you sure you can handle this?”

“Of course I’m sure! I have wanted you here with me for a long time, Danni. I don’t want to miss a single moment of this with you.”

“I don’t know…” I said. “Can I at least think about it? Maybe give me the weekend?”

I didn’t give him the answer he wanted and I know he was bummed, but he still smiled and said, “Of course. So, when is your next appointment?”

“Uh, in two weeks. I was hoping you would come with me.”

“Fuck yes I’m coming with you! This is our baby, Danni. I want to come to every appointment and be there for you through all of it.”

“Oh Beau,” I cried, throwing my arms around his neck. “I love you so much. I’m so glad you didn’t panic on me.”

“Well, I can’t promise I won’t, but it will be for an entirely different reason. I just want you to be careful and for us to have a healthy baby.”

“So we’re really doing this?” I asked, pulling back and looking at him.

“We’re really doing this. I love you so, so much, Danni.”

“I love you too, daddy,” I teased, and he grinned at me.

He rubbed my belly with his large hand and leaned his head down, looking at my stomach.

“You hear that, Jelly Bean? I’m your daddy and I’m going to spoil you so much.”

“Jelly Bean, huh?” I asked, giggling.

  “You don’t like it?”

“I love it.” I combed my fingers through his long hair and sighed.

“Beau,” I whispered, longing in my voice.

He looked up at me, locking his deep chocolate eyes with mine.

“I’m going to be a father…because of you. I don’t think I can ever express how happy you have made me today, Danni.”

“I love you so much,” I replied, my insides starting to melt. His hand moved from my stomach to cup my breast. My nipples instantly hardened and my breath caught in my throat.

I felt his dick immediately start to harden underneath me.

“Oh fuck, I have to get you naked right now.” He stood up with me in his arms and started walking down the hallway to my bedroom.

“Wait, I thought you were hungry!” I squealed, laughing.

“I just found out that I’m having a baby with the woman I love. Food can fucking wait because I’d rather feast on you instead,” he said seductively.

He carried me into my room where we spent the rest of the night making love and celebrating the start of our new family.

  Chapter 8

  Beau

“How’s the jelly bean?” I asked Danni, resting my hand on her stomach as we drove into Muncie.

“Doing good. Still warm and cozy in here,” she answered, covering my hand with hers.

“We’re about five minutes from your parent’s house but do you want me to stop and get you anything?”

“No thank you, I’m fine. I’m just anxious to see my mom and dad again. Mom’s making her home made macaroni and cheese and I think the baby’s telling me it wants some too.”

I smiled as she released my hand so I could drive the rest of the way.

“So, are we telling your parents about the baby?”

“Yes, I want to. Maybe not right when we get there, but definitely while we’re in town,” she replied. “My mom’s going to be so excited.”

“And your dad?” I asked, flicking the turn signal and turning onto her parents’ street.

“He’ll be happy too, Beau, but in a guy kind of way.”

I chuckled and asked, “A guy kind of way?”

“Yeah, you know, the whole ‘congratulations’ pats on the back and starting to wear grandpa sweater vests kind of happy.”

“I love you, Danni,” I replied and turned my eyes to the road. “Okay, which house is it?”

“It’s the one at the end of the road with the circular driveway and the two car garage,” she answered.

I grinned as I looked down the road and saw a red pickup truck parked in front of the garage.

We pulled into the driveway next to the truck and killed the engine. Taking my hand in hers, she squeezed it and turned to face me.

  “You ready to do this?”

“Bring it on,” I replied, leaning in and kissing her lips.

I moved my other hand down to graze her stomach with my fingertips. “I love you.”

“Love you too, Beau,” she murmured against my lips.

My tongue gently glided past her lips and she moaned loudly. I wanted nothing more than to have her straddle my wai
st and fuck me right in the driver’s seat.

Before the kiss could get any deeper, I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. Turning my head, I saw the front door to her parents’ house opening. I grinned widely as I saw Danni’s m

  “I’ll get your door, baby.”

“I don’t think you can get around the car and help me before she gets here and pulls me out,” she laughed. I smiled at her and squeezed her hand.

“Okay, next time. I’ll get our bags,” I said, giving her a quick peck on the lips before her mother reached the car and opened the door.

“There’s my baby girl!” her mom shrieked, helping her out of the car. As soon as she was standing her mom pulled her into a tight hug.

“Oh Danni, we’ve missed you so much! You look beautiful, sweetheart!”

“I’ve missed you too, Mom, so much,” she replied, and as I popped the trunk and got our bags out I smiled at the two of them.

  “Where’s Dad?”

“He’s inside putting the finishing touches on the barbecued ribs. I hope you kids are hungry.”

“I’m starving,” she answered and I huffed out a laugh.

Danni’s appetite had grown so much because of the baby and she was filling out even more lately. Her body looked fantastic now that it was curvier and with her belly protruding even more from her hips, it was difficult to keep my dick in my pants when I was around her.

Her mother’s eyes roamed from Danni to me while I had the trunk popped open, unloading our bags.

“So, this must be your Beau,” she said, eyeing me. “Girl, he’s cute!”

“Easy there, cougar,” Danni laughed, letting go of one of her hands and holding onto the other. They walked over to me as I grabbed the last bag and shut the trunk.

“Mom, there’s someone I’d like you to meet. This handsome guy is Beau Cavanaugh. Beau, this is my mother, Brenda Sharpe.”

I carefully set our bags on the ground and extended my hand to her mom. She let go of Danni’s hand taking mine and pulling me into a hug much like she did to Danni.

“Beau, it’s wonderful to meet you. Dan and I have heard so many wonderful things about you.”

I chuckled in disbelief and said, “Well, I’m glad to hear that. It’s so great to finally meet you Brenda.” As I released her, I kissed her cheek and thought I saw her blush.
