A lot had happened in the last six months. Liam and his brothers had opened the Mystic Shadow Moonshine Distillery on the outskirts of town. They were still in control of the Bayou, but they were no longer running moonshine illegally. Linus had stepped up and taken control of The Graypaw Wolf Pack. They had created a truce and the two packs were going into business together. The Grand Opening for Paddycakes on Royal Street was in a couple of weeks. The timing was perfect because it meant he and Piper could enjoy their honeymoon. That is, after they tied the knot, which was happening in thirty minutes.
The church was full of people, his brothers had agreed to be his best men, and Piper’s cousins were the maid of honors because she couldn’t choose one over the other. Liam didn’t care who did what as long as he married the love of his life. Things were definitely looking up and Lizzy had nothing to do with it.
Hunter entered the room and interrupted his musings. “It’s time, Liam.”
Liam smiled at his brother through the mirror. He’d waited for this moment his entire life.
Piper couldn’t believe it was her wedding day. The last six months and been a little rocky, but Liam was still by her side. When she’d learned about the prophecy, she had almost called it quits because of Liam’s betrayal. Old fears of not being enough had threatened to overwhelm her, but Liam had calmed her fears.
She still remembered the conversation with her Aunt Jean. “Do you love him?”
Piper’s eyes welled with tears. “Yes, but how do I know it’s true love. What if he only wants to marry me to save his business and the Bayou?”
“Do you really believe Liam would be so callous with your feelings Piper Marie Patterson?”
She hated when Aunt Jean used her full name. It meant she was either in trouble or being stupid. In this case, it was probably a mix of both. “No,” she whispered.”
“Honey, sometimes all a woman can do is listen to her heart. Love has no guarantees and relationships take work. It involves communication and a willingness to listen and compromise when necessary. There will be good times and bad, but if you’re willing to stay the course together, the marriage will not only survive, it will thrive.”
“I know you’re right Aunt Jean, but that damn prophecy is all I can think about. And her.”
“Listen to me, sweetheart. The trick to the prophecy is that it only works if the couple marries for love. You’re also not your mother. My sister is a wild child who never intended to stay in Mystic Grove. I am not excusing her poor behavior, but her abandoning you was more about her. You can either live in the past or live in the present and have a future with a man that loves you whole-heartedly. It’s your choice. It always has been.”
Piper hugged her Aunt Jean. She’d always been there for her. “Thank you.”
“Don’t thank me, honey. Go fight for your man. Fight for your love and fight for your future. Life’s too short not to.”
She had taken her Aunt Jean’s advice that night and never looked back. The day she agreed to marry Liam, the Magic Book appeared out of thin air. There was a note attached from The Goddess.

Dear Piper,
* * *
I’ve watched you grow over the years into an amazing woman. Even with all your struggles, you never gave up. This book represents centuries of your family’s magic. I now leave it in your capable hands to safeguard. Your magic comes from within, not a rabbit’s foot.
* * *
You and Liam were meant to be. There will be tough times in your path, but together you are strong enough to weather any storm. Love is the glue that brought you together. Communication, mutual respect, and compromise is what will keep you together. Remember this on your wedding day and always.

Love the Goddess!

Skylar hugged her cousin from behind. She was no longer wearing a cast. “It’s time, Piper.”
She took in several deep breaths and prepared to marry the only man she had ever loved. The solitaire diamond on her finger sparkled in the light. But it was the rabbit’s foot pendant close to her heart that signified their love. Liam had given it to her the day he’d asked her to marry him. She still remembered every word he’d said on that fateful day.
“I know it’s not Lizzy, but I hope you’ll keep it close to your heart. It’s filled with our love and that’s all the luck you’ll ever need. I love you Piper Marie Patterson. Will you be my wife?”

On a sunny afternoon in Mystic Grove, Piper Marie Patterson married Liam Alexander and they live happily-ever-after.
