“Yes.”

  “Can I come over?”

  “…”

“Or…” Mya cut him off before he could finish withdrawing his original offer.

  “No it’s fine. Come over.”

  “I’m on my way.”

  “Okay.”

Five minutes later, Mya’s doorbell was ringing. He waited patiently for her to open the door fully ready to get to the bottom of their dilemma and figure out what was next for them. Once she opened the door his voice got caught in his throat.

Standing barefoot in nothing but her leggings from earlier and a tank top, Mya was comfortable yet ready to get this confrontation over with. Giving him an appraisal from head to toe in his simple 501’s, t-shirt, and air max. Finally reaching his face again she saw he was amused at her shameless attraction. He chuckled and she frowned.

“It’s okay to be attracted to your baby’s daddy.”

  “Whatever. It’s the hormones.”

“The hormones huh?” He questioned with a smirk.

“Yes the pregnancy hormones that have blood pooling up in certain areas for no dang reason at all. They are all out of whack. I’m always hor… I mean hungry.” She corrected when they sat down on the sofa opposite of each other.

“Sure hor-ngry!” He over exaggerated the word to replicate how she said it. “What are you hungry for? I may be able to appease your appetite.”

“So you can dip out before I wake up again? No thank you.”

  “I deserve that.”

  “Yeah you do.”

“Look Mya, what happened during our one night together will keep us together for the rest of our lives.”

  “Eighteen to nineteen years.”

“No, the rest of our lives on earth. Look I’m not going to dip out because the kid grows up or when they become of age. They graduate high school, then college, get married, have their first baby, the list could literally go on forever. We are always going to have some type of dealings with each other.”

“True didn’t think about it like that.”

“Mya I’m attracted to you. Would it have been nice if we were married or at least in a committed relationship before this happened? Hell yeah, mainly because that’s what type of environment I was raised in. As of right now we have to play the hand we were dealt. To be honest I would much rather us living under the same roof during your pregnancy.”

“Not going to happen. I have my own place.”

“Look I just want to experience as much of this pregnancy as possible. I have already missed damn near four months of it. You gotta at least meet me half way.” He pleaded.

“Then you move in with me until the baby is born.”

  “My place is bigger.”

“We will always have some type of issue over where everything will have to be. Your place or my place.”

  “Or we can co-exist.”

“What the hell does that mean?”

“We will be roommates raising our child together.”

“Boy you’re crazy. That would never work.”

“Why is that? How would you know if you never tried?”

“First and foremost we both have our own individual lives.”

  “So what?”

  “Second…”

“Screw second, just try it throughout the pregnancy. If it doesn’t work out then we can call it quits. Deal?”

  “You didn’t let me finish.”

  “It’s a trial run. Deal?”

  “You’re not being fair.”

  “Neither are you.”

“Can I just think about it?”

“Okay that will work. Just let me know as soon as you know.”

  “Okay.”

  Chapter six

Mya stayed true to her word about thinking about moving in with Barron but honestly she just didn’t think it was a good idea. He had been in a relationship last she had seen on entertainment news with the model chick but he was hell bent on them living together. What kind of mess was that? How on earth would something like that work? Would they try and get rid of her eventually? She would be the outcast like a surrogate mother.

No way in hell would she ever think she would be in a situation where she would be having a baby with someone who she didn’t see herself spending the rest of her life with. True she fancied him, she craved his touch, the sound of his voice, the sensual caress of his member, and maybe deep down she wouldn’t mind being in a relationship with him. He seemed like a stand up type of guy and valued family. Unfortunately that was the one thing that never came out of his mouth. He never said he wanted her in the picture he just wanted to be there for his baby.

“What’s got your face all screwed up?”

  “Just thinking.”

“So what are you two going to do?”

“I don’t know. He asked me to move in with him but I don’t think that’s what I want to do. I mean, I kind of want to but I don’t. I know that makes no sense whatsoever. But…”

“Let me ask you this. How do you feel about him?”

  “I like him.”

“Is that it? You like him?”

“Yeah I don’t know anything else about him to feel anything else.”

“Well why don’t you date him?”

“What if he doesn’t want to date me?”

  “Then screw him.”

“I think he’s already dating someone though.”

“Nah, I checked that out. He is single.”

  “Are you sure?”

  “Yep.”

“Maybe. Thanks Damon. You know I love you right.”

“I love you too. Even if you did keep a big ass secret from me.” The two of them laughed.

As if he read her mind Barron called her up and asked her out to lunch. It had been a week since he last saw her but texted on a regular. They made plans to go to lunch and hang out on Saturday. Mya decided on a pair of fitted, ripped denim crop pants, a shear black maternity shirt with a black shell underneath, and black wedges. Her hair was straightened with a part down the middle hanging around her shoulders. Being pregnant made her feel super pretty and less self-conscience about her weight, enjoying her protruding stomach. Mya knew he was going to ask about them moving in together but she still didn’t have an answer for him.

  “Hey, you look nice.”

“Hey. Thanks you too.” Mya was swooning at how sexy he looked in some dark denim jeans, gray V-neck tee, and Jordan’s on his feet. His hair looked freshly cut with his waves on point and his cologne made her panties wet.

  “You okay?”

  “Yeah I’m cool. You ready?”

  “Yeah let’s go.”

Barron thought it would be nice to grab lunch and just play it by ear on what they were going to do next. Conversation over lunch was nice, they felt like they were old friends catching up. Several female fans came to the table to get autographs and some had the nerve to give Mya an envious eye. She brushed it off as wishful thinking while he apologized with his eyes for the rude gestures she was receiving. Finally they were leaving not paying too much attention to their surroundings and ran smack dab into the paparazzi.

Those dirt hungry photographers were snapping all sorts of pictures while asking some very personal questions. The main questions that caught their attention was ‘is this your new girlfriend? Is that your baby?’ Both Barron and Mya stopped dead in their tracks at the questions with Mya putting a protective hand over her stomach. Obviously neither of them were thinking about how the press would react seeing them together. That the assumptions would form around them having a baby and turning that into them being in a relationship.

“Sorry about that.” Barron apologized for the slew of photographers.

“It’s cool. I should be used to it.”

  “How so?”

“Every once in a while I would get caught up with Damon.”

  “Damon huh?”

  “We’re just friends.”

  “I hear you.”

; “Why am I even explaining myself to you anyway?”

“You are absolutely right. It’s not like we are together.”

“Right.” Mya wouldn’t dare admit it stung a little to think that she wouldn’t mind being with him on that level. She didn’t remember when she came to that conclusion but she had to be honest with herself if no one else, there seemed to be some sort of feelings towards him. Deep down she is hoping that it’s just the hormones stemming from the pregnancy but she knew that wasn’t the entire truth.

“Have you decided on what you want to do?”

  “Unfortunately not.”

  “It’s not that hard Mya.”

  “Yes it is Barron.”

“I don’t want to argue with you.”

  “Same here.”

“On another note. My mom wants to meet you.”

  “Really?”

“Yep. They went on a cruise for two weeks but she wants to meet you when they come back.”

“You told me that you have already confided in them that I’m pregnant. How did they take the news?”

“They took it cooler than what I thought they would. Have you told your family?”

“Yes. And they didn’t disown me.” Mya laughed to herself because she surely thought they were going to hit the roof. “They were just pressing me to know who I was pregnant by. I wouldn’t divulge that information. Not that I don’t trust my family it’s just that I don’t want to make a spectacle about this pregnancy.”

“I understand. I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you in the beginning.”

  “It’s okay.”

With that being out of the way, they went to a carnival that was in town. They rode rides, played some games, and Mya ate several different kinds of food. Barron teased her about her selections, she pouted and he apologized. ‘God forbid, if they had a little girl cause she would milk him dry,’ he couldn’t help but to think to himself. Suddenly out of nowhere it started to pour down raining. The skies opened up with no warning pouring buckets and buckets of water down on their heads. Not wanting to risk a slip in her wedges and injuring her pregnant belly they walked to the parking lot leaving them soaked to the bone. Since they were closer to Barron’s house that’s where he drove them too.

Parking in his spot in the garage, Barron ushered Mya to the master bedroom. Mya’s jaw dropped at how gorgeous his bedroom was and marveled at how huge it was. There was a huge customized king size bed large enough for three of him with a huge padded headboard. The sitting area housed an entertainment center with all the top of the line electronics, suede couch, and love seat. Walking barefoot on his carpet was like walking on a cloud it was so soft and plush. While Mya was admiring her surroundings, Barron went into his closet to grab something dry for her to wear. He grabbed one of his button up shirts, a pair of boxers, and some socks for her to change into. Mya took the clothes to the joined bathroom and she was shocked speechless yet again. This was her dream home in so many words. The en suite was perfect with double sinks, Jacuzzi tub, and huge walk-in shower.

“Your home is beautiful Barron.” Mya gushed when he returned to his room in dry clothes carrying two mugs with steam rising from the rim. From the smell Mya would guess cocoa.

  “Thank you. Cocoa?”

“Yes please.” They sat in his sitting area watching television. Getting comfortable in each other’s presence was an important milestone. Before either of them realized it they had falling asleep with Mya somehow laying her head on his chest and his arm protectively around her waist.

Barron was awakened by a loud clap of thunder, Mya flinched but didn’t wake up fully. Instead she snuggled deeper into his embrace. Gently shaking her to rouse her awake did nothing, whispering her name only caused her to moan. Barron chuckled knowing she must be dreaming about some naughty things. Morning wood didn’t have nothing on his evening hard-on. Her moan just sent him into overdrive. He wanted to be laid so bad it damn near hurt. Plus it was raining outside, which was baby making weather. Luckily they already had the bun in the oven but he wouldn’t mind putting something else into her.

Mya woke up feeling feather kisses and soft fingertips massaging her hairline. Looking into the face of the culprit all she could do was stare and remember how it felt to have him buried deep within her cookie jar. Recalling how he brought her to ecstasy over and over on two different occasions. The reality that she had started to feel something within her scared her shitless. Something about Barron was making her want him not just to raise their child in unison but for the long haul. She wouldn’t mind calling him hers and he calling her his but the reality of the situation is unlikely that would ever happen. Thinking ‘why not live in the moment’, Mya initiated an intimate kiss while adjusting her body to straddle his.

Mya didn’t hesitate to slip a hand into his jogging pants to massage his hardened extremity garnering a gasp of surprise from Barron. She was stroking him so good he broke away from the kiss to lean his head back and relish in the feelings traveling through his body. Her forward behavior was new to him since he’s met her, he has been the one to always initiate sex between them. Before he knew it she was sliding down his stick to the base, Mya wasn’t thinking, she was just doing. It felt so right to join their bodies in this manner. The fervent rock of her hips was building a blow up quickly. This romp was impromptu and aggressive, neither recipient seemed to mind for the time being. Maybe it was the hormones but Mya couldn’t get enough of his body. Since she didn’t feel comfortable sleeping with any random guy while pregnant, getting down with Barron will become one of her favorite past times.

  ~

Barron had been contemplating whether or not he was just being selfish when he asked Mya to move in with him. It wasn’t a traditional relationship by any means, they had an intense one night that resulted in them becoming parents. He’s read several articles about folk’s co-parenting and it actually working out. If he were honest with her and himself, he wasn’t pursuing her in hopes of being in a relationship, he just wanted to be around her on a daily basis. His friends thought he was bonkers for even considering moving her in with him. Letting her roam freely in his space while he had to put his escapades on hold. He had no plans on putting anything on hold, mainly because it wasn’t like he was doing all that much anyway. Actually it was convenient for him to just be with her at the moment anyway. All the goodies he could get with no restrictions and no suspicions of trying to trap him.

“Dude, how the hell do you even know that she is really pregnant with your seed?” Davey exclaimed. “For all you know she been screwing left and right.”

“Chill out on baby mama. Damn.” Barron casually stated growing tired of their constant nagging about Mya.

“That’s what we saying she might not even be your baby mama.”

“You have never met her, talked to her, and you barely seen her because your nose was so far up in the air thinking you are better than she is.” Thomas threw in.

“Ain’t nobody asked your ass shit. On the business side, you need to be the one to make him see reason that she could be one big ass con artist.”

“I second that advice. You remember what happened with ole girl from high school. Everybody should.” Toby added his two cents bringing up a painful memory of how he almost got trapped.

“Why you gotta bring up old shit?” Thomas said irritated.

“Why are you not bringing it up more? He could be making a huge mistake and y’all just sitting back.” Toby pushed.

“You both seem awfully invested in whether or not he accepts Mya.”

“Will y’all just give it a rest please?” Barron stated to no avail they just kept going.

“For all you know that dude Damon whatever his name is could be the daddy of her baby.” That struck a nerve with Barron because for the life of him he couldn’t figure out how they were just friends. When did they meet? Are they friends with benefits? Why would any hot blooded male want to be just friends with Mya’s sexy ass? They could be on t
o something in that department. He wouldn’t admit to anyone that he was a little jealous at their relationship.

One night he was at her house relaxing, her phone vibrated on the table while she was out of the room, and the urge to be nosy got the best of him as he took a quick peak. Picking up the phone hitting the power up button, he noticed she didn’t lock it so he took a look at the message that just came through. It was from Damon saying ‘he loved her more’. Scanning further up in the thread he read how she had just stated she loved him and just like that jealousy fueled something awful in him.

Instead of reading anymore he stopped at their endearments and closed her phone putting it back where he got it from. Barron had expressed his anger in an interesting way that night, through sex. He had punished her kitty so tough, she was damn near lethargic from the many releases he caused. Never confronting her about what he read because he shouldn’t have been in her stuff in the first place. Knowing full well he would have been livid if she had invaded his privacy like that.

“Baby boy, don’t listen to those idiots. They don’t know shit.”

  “…”

“Tell me you not listening to what they are saying. Mya doesn’t seem like that type. That’s just the vibe I’m getting.”

“I never said I believed them but let’s be real, I never said I wanted anything deeper with her either.”

“So you just gonna be co-parents?”

  “Maybe.”

“Then you might want to quit banging her brains out.”

“Who says I’m banging her brains out?”

“…” Thomas gave him the look he got so many times when he was younger and lied about anything.

“Fine. I can’t help it. I’m like Pookie from New Jack City, ‘It be calling me’.”

“You stupid.” “You are going to make transitioning to just mommy and daddy a hard task.”

  “She isn’t turning it down.”

“What’s going on with that Naomi chick?”

“Not shit, she throwing the bait and I’m not biting.”

“Something is not right about her. Her vibe is all off to me.”

“I’ve heard that before. We were just fucking anyway. The press just caught us out together a few times too many.”
