At that moment is when Mya felt that sting in the middle of her chest, the lump in her throat, and the simmer of tears in her eyes. It was obvious that he was with someone else and the thought alone hurt her feelings. Sure they weren’t in a committed relationship but damn it sure felt like it at times. The way he chased her, he showed signs of jealousy when another man would show interest when they were out, or just the fact that he catered to her at times. She wasn’t mad at the fact that he was out doing him, she had no strings or rings, and damn sure no papers on him. He could do what the hell he wanted to do. Deciding then to just ignore her hurt feelings, Mya decided to just take her associates up on their offer to meet in town for brunch.
“Long time no see stranger.” Shannon spoke when they saw Mya approach the table.
“I know right.” Mya mocked with an eye roll.
“Damn girl, I’m surprised you were let out of the house alone.” Kim taunted with disdain.
“What is that supposed to mean?” Mya asked with her eyebrows bunched up in confusion.
“Lately the only time you are out in the public eye you are either with Damon’s funky ass or that fine ass B.A.” Shannon said with Kim nodding in agreement.
“The way you two talk, you would think that I was always out and about. We know that was never the case. So why you act like I’m a prisoner somewhere and now I’m out on parole?”
“We just being observant.”
“Yeah right or being nosey. Which is it really?”
“Why you so defensive?” Kim asked with an attitude further pissing Mya off.
“Who pissed in your cereal this morning? We were just wondering because you are not acting like the Mya we have grown to know.” Shannon tried to console.
“Right, we are sisters remember.” Mya thought about what they said for a few minutes before she just brushed off her hostility because most of her attitude could be coming from the way Barron just didn’t bother coming home last night. Then had the nerve to not even attempt a conversation about it. He was a grown man and all but damn he could show a little common courtesy.
“Uh oh, looks like trouble in paradise.”
“Already, damn that didn’t last long.”
“What are y’all talking about now?”
“I know he kicked it too tough last night at the club debut. Shit I did too but I lost him after a while no telling who he left with last night.”
“…”
“He and that big booty DJ left at the same time last night was what I heard.” Kim said. Just as she got that out, Mya’s cell rang alerting her that Barron was calling her. Ignoring his call all together, she focused back on the conversation before her. They continued to talk about their fun-filled night out last night while she was at home cradling her swollen belly.
“Oh yeah, I stopped by your apartment the other day to find out you have moved out. What’s up with that?” Shannon asked.
“Yeah I moved… My bad I forgot to tell you two.”
“Where are you staying at now?” Kim prodded.
“In Buckhead.” Mya vaguely stated.
“Where in Buckhead?” Shannon asked with wide eyes. Mya knew by her being the real estate agent she knew where every well off part there was to be seen in Atlanta. “You live with B.A. don’t you?”
“Well damn, I knew you left the party with him that night but damn I didn’t know it was like that.” Kim said.
“Like what?”
“You got yourself pregnant and now you living with him too. I should have been taking a page from your book if I knew it would be that easy.”
“I didn’t get myself pregnant and honestly I was forced to move in with him once rumors started circulating about who my child’s father was. Everything with Barron was a chance meeting, nothing else.” Mya defended herself. “And while we are on the subject do either of you have any suspicions of who would have leaked to the press about my identity?”
“Damn you think that little of us, huh?” Kim said with disdain.
“I ain’t mad at you boo. Do ya thing.” Shannon commended. “But honestly I don’t have a clue, I know I didn’t.” She honestly wasn’t hating on Mya for snagging one the most eligible bachelors out here.
Kim on the other hand was pissed that she had tried everything to snag someone of his status and always came up empty handed. Mya didn’t even want that life whether it was being Damon’s friend or from Barron knocking her up. ‘She had it made and didn’t even appreciate it,’ Kim thought to herself.
“Can we at least get an invitation to the new house?” Kim asked thinking that it was better to try and be friends with her than bash her. She needed a plan.
“Technically it’s not my house. I’m not even certain if I will stay after the baby is born.”
“At least let us host your baby shower. Especially with you living so lavishly, we could have it there.” Kim continued to push.
“His sister already asked, sorry.”
“Maybe I… I mean we can help.”
“I will let her know that you guys want to help out.” They resumed chatting about other things before Mya let them know she had to get home to finish packing. Barron and Mya had agreed to go home to Arkansas together so he could meet her family while she spent some much needed time with them. His parents were back at home so he would be visiting with them while he and his friends hit up some of their old spots.
“Where you been?” Barron asked when Mya walked into the house successfully scaring the shit out of her. Her mind was in such deep thought that she was not aware of her surroundings.
“Shit Barron you scared the shit out of me.”
“…”
“I went to brunch.”
“With who?”
“Does it matter?”
“I asked didn’t I?”
“Please don’t do this.”
“Do what?”
“Don’t worry about it.” Before Mya had completed that statement to the fullest she found herself spread eagle with her dress thrown over her stomach revealing her now naked bottom. Barron had removed her panties so fast she didn’t have a chance to protest because the air from his breath as he inhaled her sweet center caused her to damn near faint from the intense feeling building within her core. “Barron, what…” He silenced her once again as he devoured her cookie like he was cookie monster in the flesh.
Moans, grunts, groans, and screams could be heard throughout the quiet house as he took her to the mountain top just before he pushed in his entire length to the hilt. Hitting all of her spots and then some new ones on the kitchen counter. No words were uttered until he was satisfied that no one had been near his pot of gold. Mya soon figured out what his deal was when he constantly questioned ‘who’s was it.’ His name was screamed to the heavens resting his mangled mind that she didn’t want anyone but him.
The question that he previously sought came back full steam of wanting to know who she had been with and this time she didn’t hesitate in answering with an explanation of why just for good measure. Satisfied with her answers he released the pent up aggression he held captive in his balls. Carrying her to the bedroom, careful not to wake her. He wiped up the remnants of their afternoon tryst from between her legs, covering her sleeping body before running to the gym for a little sparring session.
This time when Mya woke up she found a note explaining where he was and when he would be back. A small smile appeared on her face at the gesture, he didn’t owe her anything but it was just nice to know he felt the common courtesy to do it anyway. Then a frown replaced the smile thinking about what the girls said about him being with someone else just last night. Maybe she should at least make him wrap up if they were going to fool around. She may already be pregnant but there was no way she was going to play with her health and definitely not the health of her baby. Beyond the shadow of a doubt Barron was feeling some type of way when she wouldn’t tell him who she had been with. He might not be looking at her in a relationship manor
but he had some sort of feelings towards her. He just had to.

“Barron it’s nice to finally meet you young man.” Terrance, Mya’s dad shook Barron’s outstretched hand. “Barry it’s been too long old friend.”
“I know it has. Now our kids have decided to hook and make us even older.”
“Oh you two old birds stop it.” Patricia teased pushing the two older men out of the way. “Barron, I remember when you were just a baby.” Patricia said giving him a sideways hug.
“Really?”
“Yeah, actually your mom went into labor when we were all at a barbeque. I ended up having to drive all of us to the hospital because these old birds were a little intoxicated.” The women laughed as the men groaned.
“So how did you two meet again?” Terrance asked looking from Mya to Barron. It was time to play the overpowering, overbearing, and intimidating father.
“Daddy.”
“Don’t daddy me. It’s my job to do this. Normally it’s before children but in this case we seem to be a little untraditional.”
“Everyone have a seat and let’s chat since Terrance is ready to get his daddy speech out of the way before we eat.” Patricia rolled her eyes.
“We met at his birthday party daddy. We had good conversation and just chilled until the end of the night. Pretty much the rest is history.” Mya said.
“So what are your intentions towards my daughter?”
“Actually we are just co-parents sir. Nothing more nothing less. I will be around for my little girl whenever she needs me. The fact that we get along great is enough for me at this point. I wouldn’t call what we shared a mistake but it happened for whatever reason unknown. I’m willing to do everything possible to take care of my responsibilities.” Barron said easily. Everyone missed the look of utter disappointment on Mya’s face except Sheila. Her heart hurt for the girl whom she has grown fond of since she had found out she had a new grandbaby on the way.
“I know your parents so I know you have a good head on your shoulders. I was hoping for something on the lines of marriage to make an honest woman out of my daughter but I guess if you two have this all straightened out I have to accept that.” Terrance nodded and Mya forced a smile upon her face. This time her mother noticed her flinch when Barron cleared his throat at the mention of the word marriage.
“Umm excuse me.” Mya stood abruptly moving swiftly to the hallway leading to the bathroom.
“You okay?” Barron asked at her quick removal of his hand on her lower back.
“Yeah I’m fine. I just gotta use the restroom.” She lied. The mothers saw right through that blatant lie but remained quiet.
“That’s probably some nosey family members trying to see for themselves what’s going on.” The Daniels family were all a buzz wanting to meet the mystery guy behind the headlines. Barron knew from the sound of the deep voice at the front door that this wasn’t no damn nosey family member but Mya’s so called friend. ‘This dude was just every damn where,’ he thought to himself.
“What’s up Pops?” Damon rounded the corner. “Hello, how are you all this evening?” He spoke to Barron and his parents before the two men embraced.
“Fine. Good.” Barry and Sheila spoke but Barron remained silent.
“I can’t call it young buck. Where the hell have you been hiding?”
“I swear you and that child of mine are joined at the hip.” Patricia threw in.
“It ain’t even like that mama. I have been super busy, for real.”
“She left, you left. She come back and look who pops up on the doorstep.” Terrance teased.
“Pops, it ain’t even like that.” Damon said smiling. “Speaking of baby girl. Where is my girl at?” He asked and Barron sucked his teeth at the question.
“Hey boo bear.” Mya hugged Damon from behind hiding her face in his back. The smile on his face was of love and adoration until he pulled her around to face him. Damon could always see those emotions that she hid so well from others. His smile instantly dropped to something more menacing.
“What’s going on?” It was a loaded question that only she would register.
“Nothing, I’m just tired.” She lied again. Lately she had been doing that a lot.
“No silent conversations you two. I swear you two act like y’all can’t stand to be apart.” Mya pouted at Damon and he huffed but pasted on a smile for company. Mya knew that this wasn’t the last she was going to hear of this and she was dreading it to the fullest. The fact that Barron wanted to be touchy, feely didn’t do anything to rest her rattled mind. She was in her feelings big time and there was nothing she could do about it. Either she had to move on, or deal with the mixed signals she receives from Barron. This visit isn’t going at all as planned.
Chapter nine
Barron hesitantly left Mya at her parents’ house. They had originally made plans to go to the hotel room he had gotten for tonight to have a little one on one time. After Damon got his ass there, she seemed to act a little stand-offish to him. Which pissed him off to the fullest, like damn soon as that dude walks into the room, he gets the cold shoulder. At first everything was all systems go and now she was throwing shade. His homeboys had convinced him to let them invite a few freaks from around the way to come back to the hotel room he had booked earlier.
The after party was in full swing harder than the club with the attendees stripping down to next to nothing to slide into the hot tub. Even though he was in a funky mood, for some reason his dick barely twitched when a fine yellow bone was grinding on another chick with similar features. His boys were disappearing left and right with one after another until he was left with these two. They tried to suck him into the mix by taking turns stripping, grinding, and kissing on him but in the end he let them do each other while his mind was a million miles away.
Neither chick much noticed that he had slipped out of the penthouse quietly. On the way to his parents’ house, he called his self all types of stupid for walking away from all that ass that was just in his grasp. Lately he had found himself feeling like a bitch because he couldn’t make himself stiff worth a damn without thinking of Mya. He was only at full staff when she was the willing target for him to punish.
The night he went out to the club opening, there were so many prospects that he even contemplated on getting with another local DJ. They left the club together going to a hotel where things were supposed to get X-rated. When he stepped foot into the room he instantly felt a sickness in the pit of his stomach. Forcing the sickness to subside, he was pushed against the couch cushions where his companion for the evening straddled his lap lavishing his neck and chest with her wicked tongue action.
His mind drifted to Mya’s succulent body and just like that he rose stiff as a board. The chick on his lap giggled at his groan of frustration, thinking it was her doing that he was sporting a hard-on. With no push in that direction what so ever she went to her knees to release the beast from his restraints. Barron sighed gratefully to be free but hissed when she inserted his sensitive head into her mouth. Taking him to the back, then relaxed her throat to slide more of him in he sighed at the feeling. Her head game was pretty good considering she had her gag reflux down to a science.
If it wasn’t for how sloppy the slurp was she could have made his toes curl instead of made him cringe from the access saliva that trickled down and the occasional nip of her teeth. There was no way in hell he was going to teach someone how to give him head, she should already know if she offers. Feeling thrown off, not in the mood anymore Barron removed himself from her mouth. She thought it was the cue to saddle up but when she removed her thong he smelt a tinge of something that wasn’t too pleasant. Instead of attempting to play it off, he rose to his full height, fixed his clothes, and bounced with no explanation.
“I’m surprised to see you in so early. I thought for sure you would have been out all night, if not all weekend.” His mother said when she stepped into the kitchen. He had been sitting i
n the dark kitchen drinking some juice with his thoughts all over the place.
“What are you doing up ma?”
“Getting some water and making sure it was you in here.”
“Who else would it be?”
“Boy don’t get slapped trying to jump smart. But you forget we live alone now. All of our children have moved out. We don’t have people tipping in at all times of the night.”
“My bad, I didn’t mean to wake you.”
“You know I sleep light.” She grabbed a bottle water from the fridge and then watched her youngest son. He was in deep thought and she knew he wouldn’t allow her to help. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing I’m just a little tired.” She giggled at his terrible lie. He and Mya definitely have a lot in common. “What?”
“Nothing just thinking.”
“About.”
“You wouldn’t want to hear it, so it’s really no point in wasting my breath.”
“Come on ma. Give it to me.”
“I think you’re making a huge mistake.”
“In what way?”
“By not considering trying out a relationship with Mya and not for the sake of the baby either. I mean really giving it a try. In my opinion, you will never find someone better than her.”
“Who says I’m the settling down type?”
“Everyone is the settling down type. Some people just don’t know it until it’s too late.”
“Fine but how do you figure that she is the one?”
“How do you know that she isn’t?”
“I never said she wasn’t.”
“Let’s just say I have a mother’s intuition.”
“And that is?”
“You are going to sleep on a good thing. Get some sleep son.” Sheila left Barron alone to mull over what she did and what she didn’t say. He was more confused now than what he was before. Just great!
The next day, both families had agreed to go out on Lake Hamilton to relax on the lake for a day. They had food, drinks, and some games to occupy their time together. Mya didn’t say much to Barron in regards to what happened the day before and he didn’t bring up anything that was bothering him either. There was a silent agreement to not bring anything heavy up and pretend nothing was wrong. The men maneuvered the small yacht style boat down the lake and the women sat around chatting about the baby amongst other things.
