Tahoe Hijack Page 36

by Todd Borg

With much patience, Chris Campion answered countless questions about many of the law enforcement issues in this story. He was a huge help.

Jenny Ross went through the manuscript and sorted out my unreasonable legal constructions, then figured out how to make them work. In the process, she fixed a good deal of other problems as well. Can’t thank her enough.

Some time back, Truckee PD Sergeant Marty Schoenberg gave me a night tour of the cop side of Truckee, one part of which was the Truckee jail. That jail finally makes an appearance in this book. I keep using other things I learned from Marty as well.

The three of them deserve the credit for any law-related things that I got right. I claim credit for all of the mistakes.

I set another world record for copy problems, which Liz Johnston corrected in her edit. She also gave me many helpful suggestions on the story.

I invented new ways to mangle sentences and paragraphs and chapters, which Eric Berglund unmangled. More importantly, Eric seems to understand exactly what I’m trying to say, and he finds much better ways to say it.

Christel Hall uncovered significant continuity problems, dozens of glitches in my wording, and fixed many typos. The book is much better as a result of her efforts.

Extraordinary artist Keith Carlson produced another fantastic cover, with strong images, brilliant colors, and bold graphics. Over the years, I have watched countless people pick up the books, stare at the covers and decide that if the covers were that enticing, the stories were probably worth checking out. I hope the stories have lived up to the cover promise.

As always, Kit is my first and last defense against bad writing. Only she and I know what she has to wade through when I hand her that first draft. I’m hoping she can continue to keep the secret...
