“No, Trevan. I have made up my mind. I have to do what is best for me. I want to be happy, Trevan. Not miserable, wishin’ I had a husband who spent time with me. Now go.”
“You’re not even going to give me a chance? Let me prove my love for you?” Trevan felt his insides coil into a tight knot. He felt his face drain of color. His heart actually hurt. He felt a stab of physical pain inside his chest.
“Since you were counting the time when I was eleven when you first asked me to marry you, I gave you sixteen years, Trevan. No more. Your actions these last two years have made it quite clear to me that you do not love me. Not enough! My affections are for John now, for he returns them. Good day, Trevan.”
Trevan opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out. He tried to swallow but there seemed to be a great lump in his throat. His vision blurred. Tears threatened! He turned and stalked away, leaving Wenna Penrose inside the Summer House.
He nearly knocked over Wenna’s sister, Sennen, known to all as Senny, as he reached the graveled drive.
“Hello, Trevan,” Senny smiled up at him. “If you’re looking for Wenna, she’s in the...” she faltered when she saw the angry expression on his face.
“I found her, Zenny.” Trevan used the Cornish pronunciation of her name. “Thank you.”
He should speak to Robert, Wenna’s grandfather. But, he was unable to speak with anyone at the moment.
He mounted Gabriel’s black and turned back toward the lane. He turned left instead of right when he reached the lane. He would go into St. Mabyn. To the Swan if he were being precise. He’d have a pint. Or two.
Still in shock, he shook his head. What just happened? He could not lose Wenna! He must figure out a way to win her back.

Johnny Depp Addiction! While writing Lord of the Abbey I created the character of Micah Wychcombe. I closed my eyes and Micah walked into the drawing room of Stonedown Manor looking and sounding like Johnny Depp. I was intrigued, because I’ve never based my characters on real-life personalities. I was a long-time fan of Johnny’s work and knew some things about him.
Curious, I began researching, trying to understand why my character, Micah, insisted on looking and behaving like Johnny. I was fortunate to find the site, Johnny Depp Addiction. I liked the site immediately. Unlike other fan sites, JDA does not tolerate gossip or rumors about Johnny or his family. His private life is kept private. It is a well-managed site; run by awesome Administrators: Elizabeth Lairmore and Sarah Nokes. JDA celebrates Johnny, the whole man, and all of his many talents with the utmost respect and integrity. The site does not allow the treatment of Johnny as a sex symbol, as so many others do.
As I learned more about the real person, Johnny; I came to see the similarities between him and my character, Micah; and I began to understand who Micah really was. I do credit the success of my character, Micah Wychcombe, a Lords of Avalon series fan favorite in Lord of the Abbey, to the information I learned about Johnny on Johnny Depp Addiction! Reading about how Johnny creates his magnificent characters definitely helped me with the creation of my own.
Staying true to yourself is a recurring theme in Johnny’s life, his quotes, writings and interviews. I found Johnny’s words of wisdom at an opportune time when I was questioning information I included in Lord of the Abbey. I got cold feet. I feared being criticized or worse. I realized after reading several things written by Johnny, that I simply must stay true to myself. It was confirmation, on what I already knew to be true in my own heart; to leave the book the way I wrote it, the way I intended it to be. I left the information in Lord of the Abbey I considered taking out to make it more “marketable”. I’m so happy I did. Johnny’s words of wisdom certainly inspired me on that decision! For this I must say, thank you Johnny!
