“So I can keep an eye on him, of course.” I smirked. Eve sighed and looked back at Mitch. “Any time I leave this place, he is to be by my side. That’s the other stipulation I have in order for you to stay here.”
“Okay,” Eve exhaled. She had to be thinking I was going to leave him for dead somewhere. Maybe she was good with that. We would see what would transpire. I wasn’t going to rule it out. I hadn’t had a major ingestion in a long time, and I was quite due for one.
“You four are allowed one gun and one knife. So place anything else in front of you. I will be taking Mitch outside.”
My footsteps rattled the shack as I headed for the bastard. I grabbed Mitch by the arm and dragged him outside. After I shoved him down the steps and slammed the door, nearly taking it off its hinges, I told him to strip naked.
“Why?”
“You aren’t allowed to ask questions! You just do what I tell you,” I growled. I pulled out my hunting knife from my vest and stepped up to Mitch’s face. “Would you like to have a chat with this again? Because I am more than willing to allow that to happen.” Mitch shook his head. “Then fucking do what I say!” He began stripping immediately, throwing each article of clothing at me so I could check for weapons.
Mitch was completely naked and exposed. I looked down at his less-than-average manhood and chuckled to myself. “Fuck you, man. Besides, it’s cold out here.” He covered himself with his hands.
“Is that always your excuse?” I smirked again.
“Generally, guys who have oversized egos tend to lack in that department.”
I laughed again. I was enjoying the banter. It was rather immature, but bloody great fun. “Go ask Quinn what she thinks, then I will find out if Eve is fully satisfied.” I curled my lips up into a devious grin.
“Fuck you,” Mitch grumbled. I tossed back each article of clothing, and he dressed as I did so.
He had a nice little stash including a lighter, a pocket flashlight, bullets, and knives. All very useful to me. I pocketed everything.
“Back inside.” Mitch walked to the stairs and back inside the shack. “Eve, it’s your turn. Jo…”
“I don’t think so,” Mitch protested. “She is not stripping naked in front of you!”
“Did I say she was doing it in front of me? Your opinion does not matter to me. Besides, if you would shut your fucking face for two seconds, you would have heard me ask Josie to take her outside.”
Mitch turned to Eve. “It’s fine. I have nothing to hide.” He tried to grab her arm, but she shoved him away, storming outside. Josie headed for the door and I handed her my Sig.
I went straight to Quinn, who was still sitting in the chair, and helped her back to the bed. “How are you feeling, my love?”
Quinn smiled. “I’m better with you here with me.” For a moment, I blushed. “How are you doing?”
“I’m fine. Don’t worry your pretty face over me,” I mumbled. But I knew she would worry constantly anyway.
“We should have Levi check you over again before you leave.” She put her hands over her face.
“No, no, no, no.” I crawled into bed and wrapped myself around her while she cried. “Don’t get upset. Please, love. I’ll be fine. You’ll see.”
“I’m so scared.” Quinn could barely get the words out between her sobs. Her face was buried deep into my chest. I didn’t want her to cry over me. I didn’t feel I was worthy of her tears.
“Shh…don’t cry. You don’t have to be afraid. I will take care of you. I have something to live for now. One day you, Josie, and I will have a normal life.” I was feeling overwhelmed because I never had anyone care for me so much that it made them cry.
Someone knocked on the door. I peeled Quinn off of me and got up to open it. Josie was standing there with a nice cache of bullets. Quinn was trying to bring herself together. “Momma Quinn, you okay?”
“Yes, I will be. I just don’t want to do this anymore.”
“I don’t think any of us do,” Josie replied softly.
“I believe you’re right.” Quinn smiled while wiping her face. “Come in and close the door.” Josie did as she was told. “Can you give him some just in case he’s longer than he expects?”
“Uh…yeah, I guess.” Quinn knew I would refuse any blood from her at that moment. To be frank, I didn’t want Josie’s, either, but she sat down on the bed and rolled up her sleeve. I pulled out my pack from under the bed and set Josie up for three vials.
Just as I was settling in to enjoy my mini high and a few hallucinations, there was another knock on the door. “Shit,” I mumbled, tucking the vials in the back pocket of my jeans. Josie answered the door. Eve was standing there.
“Is everything all right?” she asked.
“Yeah. Why would you think different?”
“I don’t know. Sometimes I think you three are up to something.”
“Well, were not,” Josie snipped.
Eve looked past Josie. “What’s with him? He looks high or something.” I chuckled. “What’s going on?” Eve demanded.
Quinn spoke up. “He is just trying to relax for a few minutes. He was giving Josie a few last minute instructions before he left.”
“Right. Well, when do you plan on leaving?”
“Soon,” I drawled.
Okay, Eve mouthed to herself. She definitely thought something was up with me. Eve left and I started to get off the bed.
“Just relax for a few more minutes,” Quinn said as she pushed me back against the headboard.
“Yes, ma’am.” I saluted her with a grin.
“Josie, why don’t you start getting stuff together for him? I want to speak to him privately for a minute.” She took the hint and walked out of the room, making sure to close the door behind her. “Now that we are alone…” Quinn began kissing me.
I always enjoyed any sexual contact after a donation. It made my nerves dance. I groaned quite loudly when my John Thomas started punching at the zipper of my pants. “You should rest,” I mumbled while kissing her.
“I can rest later.”
Quinn started taking my clothes off. She placed both of her hands on my chest, then ran her hands over my tattoo, tracing the patterns with her fingers. I was ready to explode just from her gentle touch.
“I cannot express how ridiculously sexy you look,” she murmured as she pressed her lips to my chest, one soft, determined kiss at a time. Fuck me. There was no hope for me because I was already out of breath. She made it to my abdomen, and I was so ready for her. She ran her tongue around all of my hard edges, making my muscles quiver beneath my taut skin.
“We shouldn’t. You need…”
She looked up at me. “Don’t you dare tell me what I need, Gunther Erikkson,” she snapped as she crawled back up to my face. “I want one last moment with you, just in case,” she whispered in my ear.
She sat back and I watched her remove her shirt and bra. I groaned again and dove at her pink pretties. I tugged one in between my teeth, rolling the other between my fingers. She moaned, turning me on even more—if that was possible. The sound of her voice during those moments was absolute bliss.
While she was leaning forward and kissing me, I snuck my hands between us and unbuttoned my jeans, lifting my arse and sliding them down to mid-thigh. Then I grabbed Quinn and jammed my hands in between the fabric of her pants and her hips. She stood up and ditched them.
As Quinn climbed back onto me, she sank down onto my J.T., accepting every inch. “Fuuuuuck,” I moaned as quietly as I could. She looked so fit when she hopped on for a ride. I wrapped my arms around her and we became lost within one another—kissing, touching, moaning, and grinding together.
Nothing mattered…me being half-dead, the undeads roaming around, Mitch, our lack of supplies, the pending trip to find Henry. Nothing mattered except the moment we were sharing.
Her head tipped back and her lush lips parted. A bead of sweat ran down through her valley. I wrapped one arm around her waist
and I circled the pad of my thumb over her swollen nub. She moaned, making smile. “Come on, love. Come for me,” I whispered.
“Oh god, Gun…” She moaned again and threw herself into me. I helped her rock her hips harder.
“Come on…,” I growled into her chest, listening to her strangled breathing. Her raw and ragged reactions were coming close to shattering me. With a heavy pant, she threw her head back again. “That’s my girl. Come for me.” She let out a shudder that ran through me like a freight train. So wet and slick, I felt her pulsate with fury, grabbing onto my J.T. “My turn,” I growled.
I picked her up off of me and crawled to the edge of the bed. I wrapped my arm around her waist and I yanked her toward me. “On your knees, fanny up high,” I growled. She didn’t even question my command. Such a perfect woman. I needed her like that. I needed to completely possess her. I wanted her to feel my worth, just in case I didn’t come back from the scavenging trip.
I spread her apart and looked at the beauty before me. “Jesus Christ…you look so amazing.” I balanced myself against the edge, resting one foot up on the bed. I slowly invaded her slick, tight spot, groaning loud enough for everyone to hear.
She lifted her head and her eyes were slits. Her lips quivered before she spoke. “Gunther, oh…ohhhh, fuck.”
I saw her reach her hand down and I grabbed it. “I’ve got you. Relax.” I started massaging her and, within seconds, she was bucking under me like a wild mare.
I smiled as she shook from head to toe. “That’s my girl,” I murmured. I needed to get to the gloryland for myself. “I have to really fuck you, Quinn. Hard. Can you handle that?” She nodded.
I grabbed onto her hips and started pumping into her like there wasn’t going to be a tomorrow. She took me like a champ. I pounded her hard. Hearing my body slapping against hers couldn’t have turned me on more. I wouldn’t be surprised if the others heard us, but I didn’t give a fuck. That could’ve been our last moment together and I wanted to make it count.
I was on the verge of coming, so I pulled out and stroked myself until I jetted all over her arse. It was fucking beautiful watching my seed run all over her backside.
I stood there, admiring her for a moment, then the sound of her voice broke my admiration. “You going to help me clean up, or are you going to admire your painting all day long?”
“Uhh, yeah. Yeah. Sorry.” I looked around and grabbed a small hand towel. After wiping her clean, and she laid down on the bed. I tossed the towel on the floor and cuddled up next to her. We lay, wrapped around one another, still reeling.
“Christ. That was fucking brill, woman.” I gently kissed her lips.
“I would have to agree,” she mumbled. I smiled. I really enjoyed pleasing her. I almost thought it felt better for me than it felt for her.
My lips trailed over hers as I told her how much I loved her and didn’t want to ever live without her. A warm blush washed over her face. I lay there, staring into her eyes for a few more moments, but it was time for me to head out. “Well…I hate to break up this incredible party of two, but I probably should get going.” Quinn stuck her bottom lip out. “Don’t you worry your pretty little face. I’ll be back. I promise.”
“Don’t make promises you cannot keep.” I swiped my thumb across her flushed cheek.
“Come hell or high water, love, I will be back.” I kissed her, then reluctantly got out of bed and dressed. She decided to dress, as well, but then lay back down in the bed. She looked exhausted. I felt a bit bad for roughly working her over, but she seemed to enjoy it.
Just before I walked out the door, I stopped and faced the door for a few moments. I feared leaving her, but I didn’t want her to see that in my eyes so I didn’t turn around when I spoke to her. My eyes were tearing up. I cleared my throat to shove down my emotions. “Promise me that you will rest,” I murmured.
“I promise.”
“I don’t want to hear anything about you running a marathon or anything like that,” I scolded her playfully.
“Oh, dammit,” Quinn sighed. “I guess I will have to withdraw my name from that race I just signed up for.”
I laughed. She always had a way of making me feel better. “Love you until the end of time,” I murmured my forehead pressed to the door.
“Love you more.”
“Don’t start with me, woman.” I smirked. Then I opened the door and walked out, leaving my heart in that room.
Quinn felt like the life was sucked out of her the moment Gunther left the room. It bothered her that she felt like that. She wasn’t a teen with a crush. She was a grown woman in love and she needed to suck it up.
Quinn had pushed her feelings for James aside, but they were still a distant echo in her heart. She loved Gunther with a passion that she had never felt before. It had been a whirlwind for them, but James would always be in her heart. After all, they shared a great deal with one another, including a daughter and a grandson.
Thinking of her biological family made her heart palpitate. Quinn clutched her chest and took a few deep breaths. She knew she needed to push them down into the deepest parts of her mind and the most hidden part of her heart, or she would fall apart again. She couldn’t do that to Gunther before he was to leave. He would worry for her more than he already did.
Quinn decided she couldn’t be alone because her mind would continue to travel to places she couldn’t emotionally handle. Hoping Gunther was still there, she leapt off the bed and yanked open the door. “Gunther!” she yelled in desperation. One last touch was all she wanted. The entire room full of people looked at her, then he ran in through the front door.
I had just jogged out to my truck when I could have sworn I heard Quinn yell for me. I turned back around and blew through the front door of the shack. “I thought I heard…” She ran to me and I caught her. She wrapped her legs around my waist and I stood there, holding and comforting her.
“Don’t let go of me,” Quinn whispered. “Don’t ever let go of me.”
“Love…never. I will never let you go. You are my life,” I rasped in her ear. I set her down and took her face in my rough hands. She soaked in the brilliance of my green eyes as I soaked in the beauty of hers. I kissed her. “Are you okay?”
“I just needed to see you one last time.”
“I’m right here.” I was trying to be reassuring, even when I completely doubted myself. My heart would ache for Quinn every second I wasn’t with her. The scavenging trip would be brutal on both of us.
After I kissed the top of her head, I pulled away. “Love, we have to go. Trust me and hear me when I say this: I will be back. I will walk through the flames of hell for you.”
“I’m going to hold you to that.” She held in her cry, which I was glad about because I didn’t think I could handle seeing her cry. She needed to get back to that strong matriarch that she once was. In a whisper, she said, “I can’t lose again.”
“I know, and I won’t allow you to go through that again. Ever. Whatever it takes, my love.” Quinn nodded.
I know she took comfort in knowing how competent I was out in the fucked up world. But Mitch was going to be with me, which was one thing that would make her worry the most. He was the least of my worries. I had him handled.
Quinn stepped back and watched me as I grabbed the last bag by the door. “Don’t leave yet.” She shuffled back to the bedroom and quickly ran back out. She handed me my pack.
“Ahh, yes. Thank you. How could I forget?”
“Yeah, really,” Josie said and rolled her eyes.
I walked up to her. “Take care of her, please. And make sure she rests.” I gave her an awkward hug. “Thank you for everything.” She nodded.
I looked around the room. Eve was barely saying goodbye to Mitch, and Reid had his palm on Shannon’s cheek. “Let’s move on out.” Giving Quinn one last look, I kissed my fore and middle finger, pointing at her. Covering her mouth, she tried her damnedest to hold in her sobs. It broke my heart. I turn
ed around and walked out of the shack, Reid and Mitch on my heels.
When Gunther walked out the door, Quinn felt lost. The truck started and her heart stopped for a moment. It took all of her strength not to run outside and stop him from leaving. She stood in silence, staring at the door, until someone lightly touch her shoulder, bringing her back from her emotional downward spiral. Quinn spun around and saw Eve.
“You should probably lie down for a while,” she murmured. Quinn blankly looked at her for a moment, then Josie grabbed her hand, interlacing their fingers.
“Come. I’ll take you.” Josie led Quinn back to the bedroom and to the bed. Quinn didn’t say a word as she crawled into it. Josie covered her up with the blanket and smiled at her. “Momma Quinn, don’t fret. He’ll be back. If anyone can go out there and come back, it’s him.”
Quinn slapped her trembling hands over her face, feeling like such an adolescent. Josie sat down beside her, pulling her into a hug. Quinn held onto her and cried so hard, she felt like she would be sick.
“Breathe with me, Momma Quinn.” Josie started breathing deep, and Quinn followed her pattern.
“I’m so scared,” she cried.
“I know. I am, too,” confessed Josie. “But every fiber of my being knows he will come back.” Quinn nodded. “You need to try and rest.” She stood up and headed to the door. “If you need anything, don’t hesitate to yell for me.”
“Okay,” Quinn whispered. “Thank you.” Josie walked out of the bedroom and quietly closed the door. Quinn rolled over and grabbed Gunther’s pillow, pulling it into her body and held it tight against herself. She needed to try to control her emotions or she would be shattered forever.
Chapter 32
I started the truck and glanced down at the gas gauge, showing about three-quarters of a tank. “Are either one of you familiar with this area?” I asked.
“No, I’m not,” Mitch said curtly. I glared at him.
“Mitch, unless you chill the fuck out, this is going to be a long trip.” Reid paused. “Sorry. I’m not familiar, either.”
