Others crawled from the water, fully dressed as she was. They were people she didn’t recognize, and yet their images tickled at her memory.
“Where are we?” one woman asked. Her dress sagged around her body, hugging her features.
Dahlia scanned their surroundings. “I’m not entirely sure,” she said.
This didn’t look like home.
Yet something told her it was.

About the Author
USA Today bestselling author Cortney Pearson is a mother, a musician, and a lover of all things pink and sparkly. She writes stories about magic books and doors that shouldn’t be opened, about an enchanted vial of tears and the girl chosen to wield them, and about mysteries hidden in the sky—all with romance because kissing = swoony. Cortney lives with her husband and three sons in a small Idaho farm town. She loves chocolate, romantic books, and classical music, and believes anything can be made better with a book tucked away for those just-in-case times.

Acknowledgments
This book was an epic adventure. It first appeared in the Shattered Worlds boxed set, a compilation of 23 incredible young adult fantasy novels. Together, we pushed hard and hit USA Today bestseller. I owe a lot to the other wonderful authors in that set who taught me about hard work and busting butt to accomplish a goal.
I owe gratitude also to KayLynn Flanders and Danette Hansen for their mighty wisdom in beta reading and helping me clean up the manuscript. Huge thanks to my ninja editor, Charity West. Charity truly has a gift for fixing plot holes, characterization, and helping me get my story to the heart of where it’s meant to be.
Kudos to Najla Qamber for designing one of the most gorgeous and perfect covers out there. She nailed the feel for this cover! And to Nada Qamber, for impeccable formatting.
As always, gratitude goes to my family for their love and support. To my sons, to my mother, my husband. Love you guys.
And to my Heavenly Father, for talents and blessings.
High fives go to you as well, for reading. Thanks for sharing a love of books with me.
