by Mel Teshco

She should have known Mackenzie had been the buyer of the house she and her sisters had grown up in. Should have known because he’d bid far more than the house had been worth. But he’d given her the opportunity to set up a home for women needing refuge and temporary shelter, allowed her to put into practice her desire to help those who needed it most.

  People like Emma.

She’d become good friends with her sister-in-law, and a good listener on those rare moments when Emma had needed to unburden some of the horror she’d faced in her past. Mackenzie’s sister might still quietly grieve, but she was gaining strength away from the monster she’d married, and who’d almost killed her spirit.

Claire was convinced that helping to run the refuge had done more to heal Emma’s inner wounds than any amount of therapy would have.

Her stare returned to the photo of her gorgeous sisters and their new boyfriends. Who’d have thought they would have gotten along so famously? In fact, things had become pretty serious between them in record time. It’d made her realize her ‘little’ sisters weren’t so little anymore.

She splayed a hand over her belly. It was probably a good thing. Her period was two weeks late and her hormones were already doing crazy things to her emotions. She chewed on her bottom lip. It looked like this year things were going to take an even bigger leap into a bright and dazzling future. Mackenzie stepped behind her, his breath warm on her scalp and his hands curling over her shoulders in a possessive touch. “Terry and Regan are good men. You have nothing to worry about.”

Claire smiled and nodded, before refocusing on the picture. “I know. I need to let my sisters lead their own lives now.” She turned in his arms, smiling as his stare strayed over the parts of her exposed in her plunging rainbow gown. “So … any plans for today?”

“Since our honeymoon is almost over, I thought we might take one last leisurely picnic at the falls.”

She kept her smirk all on the inside. Visiting the Blue Mountain’s art galleries and tourist shops had obviously worn thin. Cocking her head to the side, she teased, “No need to pack our swimsuits then?”

He bent and kissed her, telling her without words how much he loved her. When he finally drew back, he said huskily, “No need at all.”

She blinked back more happy tears. She’d wait until they were at the beautiful falls to tell him the news. Her heart all but sang. If she’d thought life couldn’t get any better, she’d been wrong. Happiness was no longer a pipe dream. It was hers to live every waking moment.

  About the Author

Mel Teshco’s gypsy-like upbringing saw her living in many places along Australia’s east coast. Each new home stimulated an already over-active imagination, where she spent as much time dreaming about fantasy worlds as the real world – the fantasy sometimes being much better.

Now living on a beautiful rural property with views of the mountains keeping her two horses, three cats and one hyperactive Belgian shepherd happy, she is happily married with three gorgeous girls and two cheeky grandchildren.

She is a multi-published author with a love of the written word along with a short attention span that sees her juggling a variety of genres and heat levels in her stories. From contemporary to paranormal, inspirational to erotic, she hopes there’s a little of something for every reader out there to enjoy.
