To Love A Hitman Page 63

by Randell Mccreary

Walking toward the door, he turns toward me and says, “I’ll leave you to it then.”

I cannot decide whether to be upset at his abrupt departure or ignore it and not let anything ruin this perfect evening. I opt for the latter. He is perfect and if the one flaw he has is he believes in dragons and magic, then so be it. I will believe it when I see it so I will keep an open mind. I cannot say for sure, but I sense Daniel is smiling in the main cabin.

Flor and Esma once again outdid themselves when choosing my after sex attire. In the closet, I find a pair of custom fit Levi’s in a deep burgundy, a long sleeved purple silk shirt and a pair of Prada flats. In the drawer are a pair of white silk panties and a matching bra. I finish dressing just as the captain announces our initial descent. I join Daniel in the main cabin and prepare for landing.

The plane comes to a stop and heads back to the hangar we had originally left from and it seems like it has only been a few hours. Daniel tells the flight attendant to pack the gown in a garment bag along with the shoes and all of the various accessories and have them ready for me when we disembark the plane. He is a wonderful man and I think I will be able to move past him thinking he is a dragon. It also gives me a new appreciation for the stories about my family. I think it would be nice to have a large family and I really look forward to the opportunity to meet Daniel’s family. You know the old saying, “be careful what you wish for?”

The same driver in the same car drops me in front of my house. The sky is just beginning to brighten. My neighbors that had come to catch a glimpse of me dressed as a fairy princes were safely tucked away in their beds, a few lights were on indicating which of her neighbors were in fact early birds. The driver opens the door and helps me carry my gown and other goodies up the stairs. No one greeted me upon my arrival. I turn the doorknob and am surprised when it swings open.

“God dammit Flor and Esma, you forgot to lock the door!”

Looking around to see if anyone had entered the house while I was away I see the place was immaculate. It looked better than I had left it. In fact, I spot a new sofa and chair in the living room. The driver carries my things to the new couch and lies them down. I thank him and he departs as quickly as he came. It all seemed so surreal. A whirlwind. I anxiously retrieve my personal cell phone that I remember leaving in my bedroom. I half run and snatch it hoping to see a text from Daniel, but there was nothing. I was a little disappointed, but nothing earth shattering. I wish I could have shared the details of the night with someone, anyone and was somewhat sorry Flor and Esma had taken off already. Well, work will take my mind off everything until I hear from Daniel. Looking at the clock I realize there is no way in hell I am going to be able to put in a full day at work after the evening I just had so I pick up my phone and text my boss I would be taking a sick day. I imagine my boss will be surprised, as I have not taken a sick day in over two years.

I hear a noise coming from the kitchen. It disturbs my dream. Daniel and I were dancing at our wedding. There is another noise, closer now. Still half asleep I sit up in bed, listening. Suddenly my bedroom door is yanked off the hinges and thrown into the hall. A hideous monster is standing in the hall. It is a red fire dragon. I am dreaming. The monster slinks toward me, slobber dripping from the corners of his dagger lined mouth. I am paralyzed with fear and cannot move. The dragon is almost to the edge of my bed licking its lips as it approaches. From the kitchen the sound of pots and pans clatter to the ground causing the fire dragon to turn. I scream, “Help!”

The red dragon leaves my room, enters the hall where it stops and sniffs at the air. It leaps in the air and I cannot see it anymore. There is a horrible commotion in the living room. I tentatively throw back the covers and can see two creatures circling one another like prizefighters in the ring. They size each other up. The other creature is a blue dragon. I whisper to myself “An ice dragon?”

Trying to get a closer look at the blue dragon, I peer around the corner. The two beasts are viciously attacking one another. The blue dragon has bitten the throat of the red dragon and it will not release its death grip. The red dragon flails wildly trying to push the blue dragon off him but the fight does not last much longer as blood pours from the bite wound the blue dragon inflicted. As soon as the dragon stops twitching, it transforms into a man, a man she has never seen before. The blue dragon also transforms. Kneeling on the ground is an injured Daniel. He has been bitten and is in pain. He glances over his shoulder, looks at the John Doe on my living room floor, and says, “Meet your uncle.”

I rush over to Daniel and help him stand. He is buck-naked. “Please check your closet and see if Flor and Esma may have left some clothes here for me.”

“That is rather presumptuous isn’t it?”

“We can talk about it later, right now I need to get dressed and get you out of here. The fire dragon that turned your uncle there,” pointing at the John Doe on the ground, “will be after you. If we do not marry and mate as husband and wife, I will die. If I die, my clan will die. Their magic is not powerful enough to keep them alive without me. They need my magic, so please hurry.”

I cannot move. I cannot speak. It is too much to wrap my brain around. I thought Daniel was just eccentric. I thought he was just living in an alternative reality where pixies and unicorns live. Holy Sit! I had no idea this crap was real. It cannot be real. I am still dreaming.

“Adrianna, go check for the clothes. You are not dreaming. We need to get out of here.”

Realizing he is reading my thoughts, I turn and ask, “Would you please stop doing that? I will get your fucking clothes.”

I cannot believe how pissed I am. Moreover, I have no idea why I am pissed at Daniel. He was telling the truth about himself the entire evening. Yanking the light cord in the bedroom closet, I can see a garment bag with a royal crest embossed on one side. I unzip it and extract the clothing left inside. I take them to Daniel.

“I’m sorry for being so nasty just now. This is a little much and I honestly thought you were just delusional. I had no idea you were telling the truth.”

“I get it, but let’s wait until you are safe to discuss it further.”

Daniel hurriedly dresses and grabs me by the hand as we make our escape from my trashed home. I slam the door behind me as we run down the stairs. We hop in the Duesenberg and head back to the airport. Once onboard Daniel collapses. Blood can be seen seeping through his shirt. The driver of the Duesenberg lifts Daniel, carries him to the rear of the plane, and lies him on the bed we shared just last night. As I approach the cabin, he closes the door. I spin around looking for anyone to help me when the same flight attendant from last night extends her hand and offers me a morning mimosa. On the cart near the galley is assorted breakfast items waiting to be served once the plane is in the air. I take the glass and down it in one long gulp. I hand it back to her and ask for more. I sip it and buckle in for the long flight to Daniel’s home in Iceland.

As we prepare to land I glance out the window and see green forests and lush green grass. It was not the white I was expecting to see in a place named after ice. Daniel and the driver remained cloistered in the rear cabin the entire flight. It was infuriating not being able to see him. Once the plane landed and the door was open Flor and Esma rush on to the plane. Flor grabs me and hugs me tight. “Flor, I can’t breathe.”

Flor immediately releases me from her death grip and says, “Oh my God. You could have been killed! A fire dragon of all things to encounter so early in your courtship.”

Esma looks at me and says, “I’m glad you’re not dead. We need to go.”

Flor nods in agreement, “Yes, definitely, go, go.”

We descend the stairs and head to a black SUV parked on the tarmac. I mistakenly thought we would wait for Daniel but Flor informs me he has already been taken back to the estate.

“Flor, I need someone to help me understand about my uncle being a fire dragon. I thought he was prince of Spain, a human.”

  Flor s
tarts to answer when Esma jumps in, “He was human but he was never honorable. He killed your father and sold his soul for power and glory to the king of the fire dragons. The fire king turned him. The fire king will send his army to destroy the ice dragon king once and for all.”

Sensing something lurking just behind Esma’s eyes I nudge her, “Esma what aren’t you telling me?”

Flor looks over at Esma, sees she is too upset to answer, and says, “Esma was engaged to Phillippe before he was turned and he broke her heart.”

I did not know what to say and all I can do is offer comfort by taking her hand in mine. The SUV travels north and I can see mountains in the distance.

The black vehicle stops at the mouth of a cave. What the hell?

Flor sees my look of bewilderment, “Let’s call it an underground estate. Our entire clan lives here.”

Turning to Flor with my jaw hanging open I mutter the question, “You’re a dragon?”

“Of course silly, what did you think I was?”

Looking at her stupefied, I sputter something nonsensical. She laughs and then I lose it. I start seeing things moving in slow motion. People talking sound like the teacher from Charlie Brown. Everything is in super slow motion. The entrance to the cave hides an ornate door that seems to open into the side of the mountain. On either side of the door is an enormous blue dragon. They are a deeper blue than Daniel, almost sapphire in color. Flor says something about them being younger than Daniel, but my hearing is still in wa-wa mode. The guards open the doors and Esma, Flor and I walk across the threshold arm in arm. The room we enter is a kind of grand hall. The floor looks like polished glass. My hearing slowly returns and I hear Flor going on about how the floor is actually made from diamonds and something about small grooves being etched into the surface to keep people from sliding about as if on ice.

In the overall realm and scope of things that seems like as plausible an explanation as any of the other magical crap I have heard. “Where is Daniel?”

Flor turns to face me and grabs my hands, “He is recovering. He needs to be strong to combat the fire dragons. They will be here by nightfall. Our healer is with him now and you may remember him mentioning that he cannot see you before the marriage so trust all is as it should be.”

Flor drops my hands and starts talking to someone that has just entered the great hall. I walk over to Esma and lightly nudge her arm with my elbow, “So why can’t I see Daniel before the wedding?”

“I really don’t know, some lore I’m sure.” For the remainder of the day I help prepare the ice dragon lair for the battle royal with the fire dragons. As nightfall approaches, an eerie calm descends on the cavernous underground kingdom that has hidden the ice dragons for centuries. The time has finally come to eradicate their mortal enemy once and for all. I realize it is not a hush so much as it is a collective sigh of relief. The two factions had had skirmishes throughout the centuries, but the final battle was finally upon them.

It happened faster than anyone could have imagined. The main doors to the underground city exploded. Fire dragons stormed the fortress. The ice dragon plan was working. They would draw them in to a contained quadrant of the fortress and unleash an icy fury the likes of which the fire dragons have ever seen. I was ushered from the staging area to the main cavern containing the larger structures of the underground city. I had lost Flor and Esma in the shuffle and my guard dropped me off, literally, on the balcony of the castle located at the furthest end of the massive underground space.

What I do not see happen is communicated to me later. A ferocious battle takes place at the opposite end of the underground kingdom. The fire dragons have been corralled and Daniel has regained enough strength to cast a powerful spell that encases the fire dragon king and his followers in ice for all eternity. The caverns where the fire dragons were encapsulated in ice would later be named the halls of ice-fire. I would encourage Daniel to rename the hall at a later date.

Still in shock over everything that has happened sends my head swimming. I reach for a nearby chair. I am in the process of sitting down when the door to the room bangs open and a frenzied Flora skips in. She rushes over to me and tries to yank me out of the chair. I yank free of her grasp and say, “Hold it right there sister. I am done. That is right. Stick a fork in me I am DONE! I need to sit down and think. I don’t understand any of this shit and I don’t know if I can get used to all of this.”

Flor stops listening to me and pleads, “Get up, Daniel is dying. You have to marry him by midnight. We only have twenty minutes!”

Believing she believes what she is saying is true I jump to my feet and follow Flora in their search for Daniel. Finding him conveniently located in the chapel we stop. Daniel is standing at the altar with the help of their driver friend. Flor tears a handful of flowers from a nearby vase and shoves them in my face. I grab them hastily as Flor and Esma take either arm and prance me down the aisle. Flor of course hums Handel’s Wedding March loudly as we run toward the groom. Facetiously I think, “It is everything I could have hoped for.”

Not meaning to hurt Daniel I immediately regret the thought. Daniel’s hand is placed in mine and I can hear the voice of my mother echoing in my head, “It is the right thing to do my princess and he is a good man. He will love and cherish you for eternity and I couldn’t be prouder.”

The voice was as real as if she was whispering them directly in my ear. I smile and look into the eyes of my soon to be husband and realize I loved him at first sight and there is nothing I would not do for him. The man officiating the ceremony said things in a language I could not understand so Flor and Esma served as both maids of honor and translators. Daniel and I were pronounced husband and wife at exactly 11:57 PM, leaving three minutes to spare. The energy surrounding Daniel and I lighten. It becomes electrically charged and courses through my body causing a sense of orgasmic arousal. Daniel stands without assistance and glows a brilliant pale blue, it reminds me of the color of the sky after a storm passes. He kisses me, gently but passionately. He lifts me in his arms and takes me back to the castle where we retire to the royal bedchamber. Rather old fashioned if you ask me, but while in Rome. Daniel is not as needy and eager as he was on the plane. He kisses my lips, gently brushing his tongue against them as he pulls away and looks at me. I can hear him in my head. He says, “I love you and I am so sorry you didn’t have the wedding you deserve but that will all be taken care of and we will celebrate our marriage as a kingdom. Flor and Esma will oversee the arrangements and as soon as the wedding plans are complete the time will come to provide you with a wedding fit for a queen.”

He holds me tightly and whispers, “There is something I have not yet told you. In order to complete the union and mate in a way that will provide me with the energy and magic I need to sustain our people, I must mate with another ice dragon.”

I push him away not understanding.

“Adrianna, that is what I was hoping to explain in more detail but everything happened so quickly. I need to turn you into an ice dragon to complete our union, but I can only do so with your permission. You have a choice.”

It did not take me long to decide. This world was strange, but it did not frighten me. I felt at home here. Maybe I would finally have friends, family, and more than just an existence. I look at my husband and telepathically communicate my willingness to become a dragon. I trust him whole-heartedly and know deep down this is my fate.

Daniel puts his strong arms around me and begins glowing a pale blue. His image begins to shimmer as he transforms into a beautiful blue dragon. His pale blue scales shimmer in the light. As he completes his transformation, he bites my neck. It does not hurt. The exact opposite is true. The pain I should be feeling is replaced with an overwhelming sense of pleasure. I gasp trying to catch my breath as Daniel bares down, sinking his teeth deeper into the tender flesh of my neck. I am filled with a euphoria that leaves my body tingling and my mind firing electrical impulses to ever pleasure center in my body.
I gush through my underwear in an orgasm that soaks through to my jeans. My body begins to shimmer like Daniels, revealing sapphire blue scales just beneath the surface of my skin. I inhale deeply and smell something I have never smelled before. It is a musky sexual scent and wafts off Daniels skin. The smell makes me hornier than I already am and I cannot believe a smell can unleash another orgasm. Daniel expertly removes my clothes with his sharp talon. He shifts between human form and dragon form as he leads me to the enormous bed. He lays me on top of the covers and stares down at me revealing the long black slits of his dragon pupils. His gaze is hypnotic, which is apparently something all dragons can do. I lean up and kiss his lips. I then close my eyes and surrender myself to his touch. He traces his long silky tongue down my bare breasts. He gently cups both breasts in his hands and gently squeezes them. He continues exploring my body with his tongue. He works his way down my belly and spreads my legs apart gently. He licks me softly at first and then harder as my hips begin to wiggle uncontrollably from side to side. He stops and rolls me over. I get on my knees. He wastes no time and guides himself inside me where my muscles contract involuntarily causing Daniel to cry out in pleasure. He grabs my hips and begins pumping his hips thrusting his pelvis against my ass. He grabs my ass cheeks and squeezes before running his lips and tongue up and down my back. I arch my shoulders backward exposing my breasts. He reaches around and gently cups one breast in one hand and with the other begins expertly rubbing my swollen g-spot. He begins rubbing harder and faster as I gasp for air, exploding in another orgasm, the contractions tightening my muscles around him forcing him to ejaculate. He is not done. He rolls me over and continues licking my g-spot. I thrust my hips upward and climax yet again. I open my eyes and in the corner of the darkened room, I see Flor and Esma gently caressing each other’s naked bodies. Sensing my uneasiness, Daniel lies beside me and telepathically explains Flor and Esma are performing a fertility ritual, ensuring an heir is conceived.
