  Submission to Kale

Danielle Hartwell's bond with David and Brighton McAlister grows, but she's devastated when Heath breaks up with her out of the blue.

Brighton's plans to expose Kale Enos go up in smoke when Kale tells him he wants Brighton as his sugar baby. Their relationship turns sexual, but when Kale starts training him in submission Brighton talks Danielle into being trained by Kale as well.

Heath Brodie loves Danielle, but someone from his past is employed by the McAlisters, someone who haunts him every time Heath sees them. Through a chance encounter he reunites with Heller Enos, his childhood best friend and the man he outed ten years ago. Heller says he's forgiven Heath and wants a relationship with him. Has the biker truly forgiven him, or is there a darker motive he's hiding?

Danielle's ex-boyfriend knows where she is and he's coming after her. In the background a serial killer is randomly selecting his targets, or so it appears.

  Chapter One

Kale Enos sat at his computer typing back and forth with Danielle, their potential sugar baby.

“Is she using all caps and fifty exclamation points today?” his older brother Heller teased.

“No, but she seems to have a fondness for the words dude and awesome.”

He smirked. “Well, she’s younger than us.”

“Have you ever heard a woman say dude?” Kale asked.

“No, but I haven’t met every woman in the world either. You’re meeting with her tonight, right?”

“Yes, to which her reply was ‘That’s pretty tight, bro.’”

Heller laughed. “If we take her on, maybe you can teach her how to talk like a human being.”

“Perhaps. But there’s something endearing about it.”

“Reminds me of a little punk that needs his ass beat.”

Kale smiled. “She’ll get plenty of spankings if she’s open to them. Are you sure you don’t want to join us tonight?”

“Nah, I already met her a long time ago. Just see if you like her. If all goes well, then I’ll join you. I figured I’d go for a drive. It’s a nice morning.”

“When are you going to have a reunion with Heath Brodie?”

Heller visibly tensed. “I’m working on it. I want to get him alone. He cops that pious attitude when he’s around other people, but when I’m alone with him his guard is down. He won’t even know what hit him.”

  * * * *

Brighton McAlister walked into the restaurant with his good friend. “Just demand to be seated by the fake plants and when no one is looking, stick the video camera in them. I want the whole thing captured on film.”

“I will.” Sean Friel grinned, clutching the large man-satchel closer to him. That’s what they were calling it, anyway. “I never thought I’d be carrying a purse around. My da would be proud.”

Brighton tittered. “You mean your uber-macho heterosexual dad?”

  “Right, him.”

He stopped in his tracks, scowling when he saw that the person he intended to meet was already there. “What a jackass. He showed up early. Screw him. How are we supposed to get set up without him noticing?”

“It’ll be fine. I’ll sit down first and tell the waitress I need a few minutes. I practiced turning this on quickly.” Sean patted the bulge of th
e video camera in his bag.

The female hostess approached them. “Dinner for two?”

  “He wishes,” Sean teased.

Brighton smirked. “I’m not sitting with this guy.”

She smiled at them impatiently. “So, two?”

  “No,” they said in unison.

“We’re separate,” Brighton said. “He really wants to sit by the plants and I’m with that dude.”

She looked to where he pointed at Kale Enos, the seated man waiting for him.

“Okay. I’ll let you seat yourself. This way, sir.”

Sean followed her, giving Brighton a thumbs-up.

Brighton waited until Sean was seated on the other side of the long row of fake plants before heading over. This was it. No going back now. He had a lady friend who claimed that sugar daddies paid women to be their sugar babies solely for their company, without expecting sex in return. He wasn’t buying it, hence this little mission to prove his friend wrong.

He’d made a fake profile, pretending to be a woman, and arranged to meet the man he’d been corresponding with in person. He just knew that when the potential sugar daddy, Kale, saw him, the man wouldn’t want him to be his sugar baby, proving Brighton’s point that the sugar-baby relationship with affluent men was in fact money in exchange for sex, or at the very least for sexual favors.

Brighton went weak in the knees and paused on his way over to the table. The sight of Kale Enos took his breath away. He almost turned around and walked back out the way he came.

Man up. It’s just some dude. You can do this.

The bewitched cock in his pants had him scrambling to sit down in the booth across from Kale.

“How’s it going, my good man?” Brighton asked him. “I’m Brighton and I’m here.”

Holy mama, the man was a stud. Kale looked tall from where he sat directly across from him. The man was strong and sculpted with dark brown dreadlocks that fell to his shoulders. His copper skin hinted at some kind of island descent, and his hazel eyes beguiled him. The way they slanted and the severe arch of his brows made him look like a villain. He was thirty-four, as Brighton had learned from their chats, and he had a dark brown mustache and chinstrap.

Brighton couldn’t breathe. He’d never seen such a smoking-hot man before in his life, except of course for when he looked in the mirror and beheld his own glory. He had a smaller frame and fairer complexion, but he was a stud in his own right.

Even in the white pinstriped button-down shirt and dark gray slacks, Kale looked solid everywhere.

The older man looked at him curiously. “Can I help you?”

  Brighton’s dick perked in response.

“It’s me.” He moved his hands over himself without touching his body. “I’m the one you’ve been talking to. I’m your sugar baby.”

Kale’s expression didn’t change. He had an austere appearance that was intimidating and sexual at once. “Your profile picture was that of a woman.”

“That was my fiancée, Danielle. Disappointed?”

He studied him for a moment in silence. “I can’t say I am.”

Brighton snorted and rolled his eyes. “Please. Give it up, chum. I’m onto to your dirty scheme.”

  “I’m not sure I follow.”

“This whole sugar daddy ploy, it’s complete and utter bullshit. Yeah, you heard me, bro.” He gestured with his finger. “You and all the other sugar daddies are alike. You claim you just want company and don’t expect sex in return for the money you give your sugar babies, but it’s a big old load of crap.”

Kale stared at him with those sinister eyes. They shimmered with caramel light, but the dark glint gave him an edge that Brighton found incredibly titillating.

“You can’t tell me that you just wanted to chat about the finer things in life. You’re rich. You can get anybody’s company for free. I don’t even know why a young guy like you needs to pay for sex. I can only suspect things are small downstairs.” Brighton touched his arm briefly. “No offense or anything. So, tell me I’m right.”

Kale didn’t say a word for a good long minute.

“My God, this is getting awkward. Say something.”

“Why did you choose me to prove your point?” he finally asked.

  “Just a random selection.”

Kale’s eyes sparkled with amusement and his lips twitched faintly at the corners. “Of all the sugar daddies on the site, I would think you would have been more disgusted by someone older who was seeking the company or favors of young women.”

“Oh, I am. Make no mistake about it. You all disgust me with your sick, twisted lies and your filthy, depraved needs. It makes my skin crawl just thinking about it.”

  “Are you attracted to me?”

A scorching flash of heat swept over Brighton. “I ... How dare you? You’re a sick, twisted little man. I’m trying to prove a point. After tonight you’re gonna walk away and not want to spend any time with me because I’m not some ditzy bimbo. If it wasn’t about sex, you’d spend time with me regardless of gender.”

  “Why do you care?”

  “I don’t.”

“Then why are you here? Did a sugar daddy hurt you?”

  “No.”

  “Why then?”

Brighton hesitated. “When I was nineteen my dad disinherited me temporarily because I was getting into trouble. I’m back in now, but at the time he was trying to teach me…something.”

  Kale smirked.

Brighton smiled a little. “I guess I didn’t learn it if I can’t remember his point. Anyway, I had this ex who had a sugar daddy while she was dating me. She kept saying he just wanted her company and gave her money to spend time with him, but supposedly there wasn’t any sex involved. It’s bullshit I say. Recently a friend of mine was talking about getting a sugar daddy and it reminded me of that.”

  “You want closure?”

“Pfft. I don’t need closure. That has nothing to do with this.”

“I think it does,” Kale said. “Why is your friend recording this conversation?”

  Brighton winced. “What?”

Kale moved the leaves aside to expose the lens of the video camera.

“My God, would you look at that? This restaurant doesn’t mess around with security.”

He pulled his hand away, letting the shrubs fall back into place naturally.

Brighton let out a nervous chuckle. Well, this was getting awkward and not exactly going according to plan.

He cupped his hand and waved his fingers together in a come-hither motion. “Come on. Just tell me you’re not sexually attracted to me and we’ll be done with it. I’m right and you’re a rich creep who wants to bang some girl and pay her money. It’s just a classy form of prostitution.”

“What makes you think I’m not interested in a serious relationship?” Kale asked.

God, his voice was rugged and gruff. If they were cavemen he would be the most alpha motherfucker of all.

“Pfft. Please. Do I look like an idiot to you? I bet you tell all the girls that before you screw them and then leave them. You use those evil eyes of yours to make them hard—uh, wet—and charm them out of their clothes.”

Kale’s slow, heated smile made his cock tighten in his jeans. The dark fire in his eyes made Brighton’s shaft pulse with need.

Focus, Brighton. Sure, he’s hot, but he’s the enemy. You’re proving a point. Can’t really do that if he’s plowing your ass.

Brighton squirmed in his seat. “You don’t talk much, do you?”

“You do enough talking for the both of us.”

“Insults won’t get rid of me. Just admit that I’m right and I’ll leave you alone.”

“What makes you think I want you to leave me alone?” Some kind of dark, wicked humor made the older man’s eyes glow with hedonism.

Brighton felt that lascivious look deep in his groin. God, what was it about him? There was bi-curious and then there was “For the love of God, man, take me now.”
/>   “Have you been listening? It’s about sex with you. You don’t want platonic time together. Just admit I’m right and we won’t have to have dinner together.” He glanced around. “Come on, man. Make it quick before the server gets back and makes me order.”

“You could have chosen an old man,” Kale said, looking like he might laugh. “Why did you choose me?”

“Quit stalling.” Brighton pointed at him.

  “Move your finger.”

  “Make me.”

His breath hitched when Kale pushed his finger down and lightly pinned Brighton’s hand to the cool table. The heat emanating from Kale’s hand sent reasoning out the window. For a split second there Brighton almost wished he was a woman. He would entice the hell out of Kale just like the smoldering man was seducing the crap out of him without even trying.

Brighton tried to pull his hand away, feeling faint when Kale gripped his wrist to immobilize him. Feeling a man’s hand on him, keeping him there, made him shake. He gulped, unable to pry his eyes away from the arousing sight of being held still by another man, especially one as dominant and virile as Kale.

“Order something off the menu,” Kale instructed him.

Brighton yanked his hand away when the man let go of him. He barely saw the menu Kale slid across the table toward him. “I don’t want anything.”

  “Eat something,” Kale ordered.

Brighton shriveled, immediately dropping his eyes as he perused the menu without seeing it. “I guess I’ll have an appetizer. Mozzarella sticks.”

  “We’ll share them.”

He blushed. Sharing an appetizer was something couples did. They weren’t a couple. A couple of enemies, maybe.

  “Order something to drink.”
