Anika spared one last longing glance at Deshawn, before she took Nia’s hand and headed in the direction of her mischievous sons. She gave up of the notion of sating the desire her husband created in her without even trying. No rush, she thought, we got a lifetime.

“Happy anniversary, baby.”
Anika looked up over her shoulder as Deshawn’s loving hands clasp her shoulders from behind. She tilted her face up for a kiss and he immediately blessed her, before he came around the swing to sit beside her. “A toast?” he offered, handing her a flute of chilled champagne as the large party in their front yard continued.
Anika smiled at him with love in her eyes. “Of course,” she told him softly, with a nod.
“Here’s to the next fifty years being as fabulous as our first five together. I love you, Anika,” he told her with deep emotion as he gazed into her eyes.
Anika swallowed back some weepy tears. “Six years ago if someone would’ve told me I was going to be this happy with you, I would’ve called them a liar. So, I thank you for not giving up on this, kiddo.”
The kiss they shared was sweet and loving and filled with the lust they still had for one another. The past was behind them now and the future was bright.
“Auntie Anika and Uncle Deshawn, please tell Tyson and Tyree to stop bothering me!”
Anika and Deshawn broke their kiss with regret and looked down at Nia at the foot of the steps. “You want this one or me?” Anika asked her husband. Their boys were such a handful that they had to take turns chastising them.
Deshawn held up his hands. “I got this one, baby. Be right back,” he told her over his shoulder as he followed their niece.
Anika watched her husband as he stooped down to talk to their sons. Twins just like Nana Lil had said. Deshawn had eventually filled Anika in on his dream and she had to admit that every bit of the prophecy had come to fruition and neither of them had ever been happier. “Thank you,” she whispered to the woman she never had the pleasure of meeting. The faint scent of lilacs suddenly teased her nose and she inhaled deeply of it.
