Pretend Page 18

"Well I don't know what goes on inside that head of yours, do I? Maybe this was all a part of some weird plan of yours," I said, knowing that he had no idea that I was here. I was mad, so I didn't care whether or not it was the truth right now.

"How desperate do you think I am? Sorry but you're not that irresistible," he snorted back at me.

Was he trying to make me angry?

"Yeah and neither are you, I was having a great time with Jake until you and the rest of sesame street turned up!"

"Wow, you're real mature," he replied.

"Yeah, says the one that has been a total jerk to his friend since he got here. Do you know that Jake hasn't done a thing to you?" I said as I felt my cheeks become hotter with every word that rolled off of my tongue.

"Whatever!" He said as he stared me dead in the eyes.

"Yeah, whatever, why don't you go back out there and go and play with Flixy Trixy some more?"

"Yeah I will and you can go and massage Jake's hand some more. Why don't you use some oils this time, then you can really set the mood!" He spat back at me.

"Yeah right, you must be mistaking me for your little piece of meat out there!" I growled as I thought about Trixy again.

  "Whatever," he grunted.

"Yeah, well what are you waiting for?" I said as I tried to stop my heart from beating so fast.

I watched him stood there, staring at me with the strangest expression on his face and before I even got the chance to throw out another sarcastic comment, his lips crashed into mine as he pushed me back inside of the ladies restroom. As my back banged against the wooden door, it was as if I was oblivious to the pain, I would think about that later. As he kissed me deeper and harder I didn't even care that I was in the diner's restroom or that Jake and the guys were sat outside, I just wanted him. As I felt his hands slide around my waist as my back hit the wall, I let out a tiny moan. Everything about this moment was breath taking. I felt his smile against my lips and it felt amazing. I didn't want this moment to end. It was like I was supposed to do this. It felt right and so natural. I almost dragged him back as he pulled away from me.

  "April," he whispered.

"What?" I asked, wondering why he had to talk.

“I have to tell you something,” he said as he took a step back so that he could look me in the eyes.

I don’t know why but my stomach dropped. This night was already crazy enough, so what now?

"You've got tissue paper stuck on your shoe," he said as he burst out laughing.

"You're such a jerk," I said as I hit him playfully on the arm.

"I know," he said as he gently grabbed the middle of my tank top and pulled me towards him.

This kiss was slower than the last one but equally amazing and I didn't miss the feeling that his fingers gave me as they traced the shape of my spine. To say that kissing Aiden was good was a complete understatement. I loved Kyle and not one kiss felt even close to this. This was different, it was-

Suddenly the sound of voices caused me to drag Aiden into one of the empty cubicles, shut the door and take a deep breath. I recognised the voices instantly, it was Trixy and Kelly, oh great.

"Oh, these shoes are killing my feet," Kelly said.

"Mine too and it's so hot in this diner."

"I know, right. Not that you will have to worry about that for much longer," Kelly replied.

"What do you mean?" Trixy asked.

"Well Aiden's practically undressing you with his eyes, it shouldn't take much for you two to hook up tonight," she said as they both burst out laughing.

  "You noticed that too?"

"Of course I did and I have some plans for Anthony too."

"Won't this be like the tenth time that you two have hooked up?" Trixy asked.

"Yep and it gets better each time," Kelly replied as they started to giggle again.

"Anyway let's go, we might bump into Aiden on the way out," Trixy said before they walked out the door, laughing.

Once I knew that the coast was clear I slammed out of the cubicle and headed towards the door.

"Hey," Aiden said as he gently grabbed my arm.

"What?" I ask in a frustrated tone.

"What's up?" He asked in a confused tone.

  "Nothing," I lied.

"I know when you're lying April," He said as he raised one eyebrow at me.

"I'm fine, just go, you might catch up with your little fan club on the way out," I mumbled.

"Seriously? You're jealous of her? You have no idea do you?" He said as he began to smile at me.

  "I'm not jealous," I lied.

"You are," he said with a smirk on his face.

"I'm not! Look this just isn't good, every time we get close, someone walks in or we have to sneak around. It's not fair, I'm supposed to be on a date with Jake, he's your friend. Doesn't that at least make you feel bad?" I asked.

  "Yeah but-"

"But nothing. I can't do this, it's wrong and you know it just as much as I do," I said before walking out of the door and heading back into the diner.

As much as it killed me to say that to Aiden after what was the best moment in my life, I had to. We were being selfish and every time that we did this, we didn't even think about all of the other people that were involved. Jake had been nothing but sweet to me tonight and he didn't deserve that.

"Hey," Jake said as I walked up to the table.

"Hey, can we go? I'm not feeling too good," I said.

“What about your drink?” He asked.

“Anyone want this?” I said, holding the glass of what looked like lemonade up in the air. I hate lemonade.

“Yeah, sweet,” Taise said as he practically dragged the glass out of my hand.

“Now can we go?” I said, turning to face Jake.

"Yeah, sure. Guys, we're off, April doesn't feel too good," he said as he stood up and came to stand next to me.

"Yeah, cool. Hope you feel better soon," Anthony said, looking up at me.

After a couple of minutes of goodbyes and it was nice meeting you, we were out the door and in Jake's truck. I didn't look back to see if Aiden was there, I couldn't.

Riding home with Jake was awkward and all I could think about was Aiden anyway. I could still taste him on my lips and smell him on my clothes and I was ashamed to say that liked it.

  "You, cold?" Jake asked.

  "No, I'm good," I replied.

"Hope it wasn't the date that made you feel ill," he said with a smile on his face.

"No, I had a great night, and I’m feeling much better now," I said as I threw him a smile.

"Me too. I had a great night I mean," he said as he kept his eyes on the road.

After that we didn't talk until we got back to the Crystal's which wasn't very far from the diner.

"Ok, so here we are," Jake said as he pulled up outside of the house.

"Thanks," I said as I unclipped my seatbelt.

"So, I had a good night tonight," he said as he began to stare at me.

"Yeah me too, it was nice. Glad we didn't go bowling," I said as we both giggled, quietly.

"Maybe we can do it again sometime?" He asked in a gentle voice.

How could I say no? He was so sweet. I felt awful.

  "Yeah, sure," I said.

"Cool," he said as we both went silent again.

"So," he said, breaking the silence.

"Can I kiss you?" He asked in the sweetest voice ever.

What the hell was I supposed to say? No, sorry I would rather be kissing your friend to be honest. I had never been asked to be kissed before. Not by Kyle and certainly not by Aiden. I had a great night and I had just told Aiden that we couldn't do this but I knew that kissing Jake would never be the same as kissing Aiden, would it?

I'm not sure what kind of expression was on my face but it must have been the kind that said yes because before I knew it Jake was about an inch away from my lips.

Suddenly my phone vibrated, which startled both of us.
<
br />   "Sorry," I said as I silently thanked my phone for saving me.

I looked down at the screen and read the name...

  Aiden.

  AIDEN’S POINT OF VIEW

"Yo, dude, what took you so long?" Anthony asked as I walked out of the restroom.

April and Jake were gone and I was greeted by an eager looking Trixy, great.

  "Sorry I was just-"

"Never mind, let's go and get some drinks before we head to Murphy's. Anybody want a drink?" Anthony said.

"Yeah, a coke please," Trixy and Kelly both sang in unison.

"We going to Murphy's?" I asked as we approached the counter.

"Yeah, Trix and Kel have got a couple more friends joining us there," he said with a smile on his face.

  "Great," I replied.

I wasn't really interested in any of them. All I could think about was April. She had kissed me and ran off, again. I just couldn't understand her. She had no idea how crazy she was making me feel. Before I started to even feel a thing for April, life was sweet, hooking up with chicks and being a guy but now my game was totally off. I hadn't hooked up with anyone since just before Crystal's party, it was insane.

"Yo dude, you got to sort it out you know," Anthony said, quietly.

"What?" I asked in a confused tone.

"Dude, I know you like the back of my hand. This thing with you and April, you need to sort it out and quick," he said looking me dead in the eyes.

"And before you ask, yes I know, how do I know, because I'm your best friend and I know you and her well enough to know that something’s going down," he said.

  "Is it that obvious?"

  "I'm afraid so."

"I don't know what to do man," I said in a confused tone.

"Look, that's up to you but I can tell you a few things. One, she's Crystal's best friend and this is bound to ruin their friendship if anything goes wrong, two, Jake's your bro man and even a blind man can see that he's into her and three she ain’t just any chick this is April, she’s special man, we always said that we wouldn’t let anyone mess around with hers or Crystal’s heart. A lot of people stand to get hurt so whatever you do just make sure that it's the right choice," he said as he patted me on the back.

That's what I liked about Anthony, he didn't beat around the bush, he was straight to the point.

"Thanks dude," I said as I smiled at him.

"No problem," he said before turning to the man behind the counter to order some drinks.

I had no idea what was going on anymore with me and April but I knew one thing, Anthony was right, a lot of people did stand to get hurt. April said the same thing and maybe it was time that I started to listen.

Pulling my phone out of my pocket, I scrolled to April's name and began to type a text.

Sorry that I was such a jerk tonight. Don't go to sleep yet, I really need to talk to you.

  AIDEN’S POINT OF VIEW

I’m still with Jake, I have to be honest with him, can't do this anymore. Talk later. x

I didn't know what she was going to say to Jake but either way, I knew what I needed to talk to her about tonight.

"So, you guys ready?" Murphy asked as I took the last sip of my drink.

Anthony's conversation had been playing on my mind, I knew he was right, people were going to get hurt and it wasn't fair. That however, did not stop thoughts of April creeping into my mind every two minutes.

Was it selfish of me to still want her? I don't know but I still did. Maybe it was time that I stopped being selfish, I really did need to talk to her about everything though.

"Yeah, we're good, let's go," Anthony said as he winked at a rather excited looking Murphy.

"Yo dude you ok? You look kind of phased out man," Taise said as he stood over me.

  "Yeah, I'm good, let's go," I lied.

"Is it kind of dumb that I'm nervous?" He asked.

"Nah, we all get nervous, you just need to chill out and be yourself. Girls like that," I replied.

"Yeah they like you guys but I just can't seem to get it right man," he said.

"Just don't think about it, you'll know when it's working," I said as I patted his back.

"Yo, come on man, enough with the girly talk, let's go have some fun," Anthony said as he threw his arms around our shoulders and led us to the car.

He was right, I did need to have some fun.

I was so happy when I saw that Kelly had her own set of wheels and that Trixy would be riding with her. This girl was more work than Cayce or more work than she pretended to be anyway.

"Hey, I forgot to tell you something," I said quietly to Anthony as he sat in the passenger seat, next to me.

  "Uh, huh, what's that?"

"Cayce, she likes you," I said as a smile filled my face.

"Cayce? That hot chick that was all over you before?" He said excitedly.

  "That's the one," I replied.

"But I thought that you and her were, you know?"

I quickly scanned my rear view mirror to see what Taise and Murphy were doing. When I saw that they were deep in conversation, I continued.

"Turns out that we were both trying to make someone else jealous," I whispered.

"Wait, you're telling me that a chick was dating you to try and make me jealous?" He said in shock.

"Yup," I said as a smirk filled my face.

"Sweet, so you're ok with that?" He asked.

"Yeah dude, she's not my type, not quite sure how me and her hooked up in the first place to be honest," I said as I pulled up at a red light.

"Dude, those words are like a lullaby to my ears! Mmmm she was hot! I'm talking seriously hot, the things I would do-"

Suddenly he stopped as he realised the expression on my face and then we both burst out laughing. It was the car that was beeping behind me, that let me know that the lights had changed.

"So, what you two love birds whispering about?" Taise said as he messed up Anthony's hair.

"Bro, you must want my fist in your throat," Anthony said as he tried to grab Taise through the gap between our chairs.

"Yo, you two are going to get us killed man," I said as we all began laughing.

From what I could see, Anthony already had Taise in a headlock, much to the amusement of Murphy.

"Say it again!" Anthony shouted through fits of laughter.

  "No way man!" Taise shouted.

"Ohhhhh, dude that has got to hurt," Murphy said as he let out a huge laugh.

"I can do this all day T," Anthony said.

"Hey Ant, you better be careful, you know that he hasn't used that yet," Murphy said as we all burst out laughing again.

“You guys are crazy,” I said as I continued to drive with a smile on my face.

"Ouch! Ok, ok, I'll say it, just let go man," Taise said, sounding as though he was half laughing and half in pain.

"Say it first," Anthony said as he winked at me and Murphy.

I shook my head and took the turning onto Murphy's road.

"Anthony's the king and I'm a big fat girl who wears diapers! Now let go, man!" Taise shouted.

  We all roared with laughter.

Anthony turned round and tapped his fist against mine.

"I can't believe you actually said that man," Murphy said as he nudged Taise in the arm.

"Dude, my manhood was at risk," he said as a smile escaped his lips.

Gosh, I loved these guys, never a dull moment.

"So, now that we all know that I'm the king and Taise's manhood is intact are we good to go?" Anthony said as we all began to get out of the car.

"Yeah," Murphy and Taise sang in unison.

"Gosh, Aiden, did you have to drive so fast, I just about kept up," Kelly said as her and Trixy headed towards us.

That's because I was trying to lose you.

"Sorry but if you had seen what was going down in here, you'd understand," I said as all the guys burst out laughing.

  "What happened?" Kelly asked.

; "Don't worry sweet cheeks. Let's go inside, you look cold," Anthony said before whispering something in her ear.

I don't know what he said but it had her giggling non-stop and her cheeks were redder than a rose.

"Hey, wait up," Trixy said as she raced to catch up with me.

  Great!

"What's up?" I asked as I continued walking towards Murphy's front door.

"Well, we never got much of a chance to talk at the diner so I had hoped that we could now," she said with a smile on her face.

  "Yeah, cool," I said, reluctantly.

Murphy's house was big and I mean big. He had like eight bedrooms, two kitchens, three bathrooms not including the en suites that four of the rooms had, a games room, indoor pool, three living rooms and two garages. Who lived here? Just him and his dad! Crazy, right? We never complained though, every party, crazy or wild night happened here. Murphy's dad was more than laid back and he was the only parent I knew that was around less than my mom.

"Wow, this is so pretty and big," I heard Kelly say as she looked around.

  "It's beautiful," Trixy added.

"Yeah it has eight big rooms too," Anthony said as he winked at Kelly.

I just shook my head, Anthony was exactly what Anthony was, a player. Whether he liked Cayce or not he was still going to hook up with Kelly tonight, he couldn't help it. The only girl that he never hooked up with much to his dismay was Crystal's friend, Jess. They sent a few texts here and there but she's not like that, she's kind of like April in that way. He doesn't like to admit it but I know that it bothered him. I’m pretty sure that he hasn’t given up yet though.

"Yo, guys I'm just going to give Kelly a tour of upstairs," Anthony said as a smirk filled his face.

"Yeah, just don't give her a tour of my room, Phylisa just put on new sheets," Murphy shouted as they ran up the windy stairs, ignoring him.

Phylisa was one of Murphy's maids, she didn't talk much but she was nice.

"So, what are we going to do?" Trixy asked as she looked into my eyes. Not what they're doing.

"I don't know, what time are your other friends getting here?" I asked.

"Well, Kel got Murphy to text them the address when we were at the diner so they should have been here by now, maybe they got lost," she said with a look of worry on her face.
