“Say, ‘Thank you, Sir,’ after every blow,” he commanded.
“Thank you—” I started, but he hadn’t struck me yet.
His lips were against my ear as he hissed, “Are you messing with me, girl?”
“No, Sir!” Louder than I’d thought. Louder than I’d heard the words in my head. I sounded like a soldier. “No, Sir!” Punctuated fiercely with my inherent willingness to obey.

The thrashing continued, now with the belt meeting my bare ass, and I did my best to choke out, “Thank you, Sir,” after each blow. Didn’t do quite good enough, though, because he had to continually up the intensity of the blows to keep me in line.
