I stepped back and pointed to the floor.
Tia got on her back and opened her legs, showing me how beautiful and ready she was. Her pink folds were glistening. I could smell her desire pouring off her.
I fell to my knees like a man collapsing from a heart attack. Christ, maybe I was having some kind of heart attack. An outlaw falling in love. An outlaw moving forward to take care of a woman like Tia.
I hovered over her body, staring at her. Admiring her.
I lowered my mouth to hers, kissing her wildly and fast. I then kissed down to her breasts. I tasted them one a time as I lowered my body down to hers. My cock touched her sweet spot and she lifted her hips, wanting me.
As I entered her, I groaned, feeling her clenching tight against me. Her pussy sheathed me as I thrust into her, sliding as deep as I could go. Her back arched high in the air as she let out a long cry. Her hands touched my back, her nails digging, clawing for relief.
I sucked in a breath as I slowly exited her body. I looked down and saw my cock glistening with her wetness.
“Fuck,” I groaned.
I came forward again and entered her again.
I moved slow and thorough, pumping my body against hers. She rocked her hips along with my movements. We were slowly fucking each other. We stared at each other, the tips of our noses sometimes touching. Sometimes we kissed. Sometimes we just stared at each other. Tia had a hopeless look in her eyes and it kept capturing me.
Tia moved her hands up to my face, grabbing at me.
“Diesel…”
I knew what she was going to say to me next.
I kissed her, stealing her words away.
I sank into her again. Her hips quivered as she started to come.
I quickly put my hands to her hips and propped myself up on my knees.
I fucked Tia.
I fucked her hard, fast, slow, deep. Her hands touched from my chest all the way down to the thatch of my pubic hair. She arched her back. She crunched forward. She grabbed the blanket. She cried out my name, cried out in pleasure, and sometimes she was breathless and couldn’t even make a sound.
I looked around the living room of the cabin at one point and took everything in.
The fire burning in the fireplace. The Christmas tree all lit up. The beautiful woman on the floor taking my cock over and over.
I slid my right hand up her body and cupped her breast. Tia grabbed at my wrist and put my hand to her mouth again. She liked that. She bit at my pointer finger, groaning as I sped up.
My cock filled up, reaching its breaking point.
I used my other hand to slide over her mound, reaching down with my thumb to her clit. I peeled her back and massaged her clit. Her body started to jump up and down.
That was all I could handle.
I started to come, my warm release filling the inside of her sweet body.
Tia put her head back, groaning louder than ever.
I gritted my teeth and hissed, feeling her beautiful pussy squeezing and pulling everything out of me.
Goddammit… I was in love with this woman.
I wrapped my arm around Tia and kept her tight to my chest. I fucking loved right where we were. I moved the blanket to the front of the couch. I grabbed every blanket I could find and all the pillows off the bed. We were together, naked, on the floor, in front of the fire and the Christmas tree.
“Darling, this is it for me,” I said after a long period silence.
We were just breathing, still coming down from the high of great sex.
“What is it?” Tia asked.
“This,” I said. “Christmas. You kept pushing at me about Christmas. I told you about what I thought was the best Christmas ever for me. But this is it. You changed it for me.”
“You know, I have to keep reminding you that this isn’t Christmas yet,” she said.
“To me, it is,” I said. “You talk about the fucking spirit of it all. I got that now. I don’t need a big family and Santa Claus in a red suit and presents. I’ve got you all tangled up in my arms.”
“That’s the most romantic thing anyone has ever said to me,” Tia said.
I looked down at her. She had her chin balanced on my chest.
I could do one better, darling.
And I did.
“I love you,” I said.
“What?” Tia asked.
“You heard me.”
“You love me…”
“I love you,” I said. “I’ve fallen for you, darling. I don’t give a shit about time, about rules. I don’t care about any of it. I don’t just love you because you’re in trouble or because you’re naked right now or because it’s this Christmas shit. I love you because my heart is telling me so.”
Tia moved up and kissed me. “I love you, Diesel. I think from the second I met you.”
“Because you saw my big cock,” I said with a grin.
“Yeah. You had me at cock.”
“And you had me at your eyes looking so surprised,” I said.
Tia laughed. “Don’t forget, before that, you were getting beer dumped on your head.”
“It could have been piss,” I said. “I got lucky.”
“Seriously?”
“That’s how they patch us in.”
“Piss?”
“Darling, we’re a wild breed. That’s all I can say. You never know what’s going to happen. That’s what makes it worth doing. I worked my ass off to prove to Prez and the guys that I was worthy of my cut. They agreed.”
“Then you slept with me,” Tia said. “I ruined everything.”
“You didn’t ruin a damn thing,” I said. “You brought me to life. Another part of my life. I’ll take care of that, okay? Don’t think about it. My job is to keep you safe. This is how I’m going to keep you safe.”
“Naked?”
“I work best when I’m naked.”
“I can’t argue that,” Tia said with a grin.
“Speaking of work…”
I peeled the covers down our bodies. I showed Tia that my cock was getting hard again. She slowly reached for me, gripping my shaft tight.
“You touch it, you have it,” I said.
“How about I touch it, I suck it?” she teased back.
I grinned. “Fuck, darling, I really do love you.”
“I love you too,” Tia whispered.
She then slithered down my body.
I loved watching her take care of me… even if it was the last normal we’d have.
thirty-four.
(Tia)
I stood at the window holding a cup of coffee. I was on a cloud that was hard to climb off of. The night had been amazing. I lost count how many times I came. I lost count how many times we actually had sex. My body hurt but in a good way. Like I had done the greatest workout of my life.
Diesel came down the stairs like a wild man. I smiled at him but saw the look on his face and realized there was no reason to smile.
Something was wrong.
I turned around. “Diesel…”
He held up his hand, showing me my phone.
That’s when my heart sank.
He tossed the phone to the couch. “You didn’t tell me.”
“Diesel…”
“You got text messages while you were with me,” he said.
Shit. I was busted.
“It’s not what you think.”
“It’s exactly what I think,” he said. “I saw fucking footprints outside the cabin. When we went on our walk. I didn’t think much of it until now. Someone could be out there looking for you, Tia.”
Tia? He didn’t call me darling.
“I was scared,” I said. “The numbers…”
“They’re dead cells,” Diesel said. “Of course they are. What the hell do you think the club does too? So someone knew you were with me? With the club? That puts all of us in danger.”
“The texts didn’t say that,” I said.
“They knew. Whoever it is. It’s time
to fucking talk to me, Tia. Don’t make me do something crazy.”
“And what is crazy?”
“I have fucking prospects on their way here,” Diesel growled. “Are they walking into an ambush? A set up? Give me the truth about your old man.” Diesel closed the gap between us. “Or are you part of it all? Is this a set up for me? The club? Huh?”
I saw red. I swung my right hand and slapped Diesel across the face. The smack made my hands sting. A second later he had my arms. I dropped the coffee mug. It hit the floor and shattered, spilling tan liquid all over the floor.
“You want to hit me?” Diesel asked. “I don’t give a shit. But if you’re doing to it, darling, do it the right way.”
Diesel stepped back and reached behind him. He pulled out a gun. I let out a yell but he grabbed my hand and put the gun into it. He backed up again and opened his arms wide.
“Come on,” he said. “Just do it. Just fucking shoot me.”
I looked at my hand. I looked at Diesel. I moved my hand toward a table and dropped the gun.
“I’m not going to shoot you,” I said. “I’m not going to hurt you.”
“I don’t know what I believe,” Diesel said. “You were sent to me for protection. I gave that to you. Prez wanted me to get your story. I could have pushed harder but I let my fucking heart get in the way. Someone threatened you. Then showed up at that coffee shop. Then there’s fucking footprints outside the cabin. You want to end up dead?”
“Is that a threat?” I asked.
“No. But if you keep holding back on me, we’re both going to end up dead.”
I felt my lips shaking. My teeth were almost shattering.
“It was him!” I yelled. “My father did this! To save my mother!”
Diesel lowered his arms. “What?”
I shook my head. “No. No, no, no…”
He rushed to me again, this time with a little more gentle care. “Darling, talk to me. Goddammit. I want to save you.”
I looked at him. “Diesel…”
“What?” he growled.
“My father got tied up in a secret medical company,” I said. “Okay?”
“Okay…”
“There was nothing doctors could do for my mother,” I said. “She was just too sick. Terminal. Some guy started talking to my father, telling him that there was a company with a new treatment. The guy took my father for so much money. All my father did was invest and invest and invest. None of it was legal. There was no real treatment. They were just sucking money off my father. My mother eventually died and my father lost his mind over the thing. He went after the guy - Jerry - and broke up the company and all the investments. He basically blew the whistle. A lot of people got in trouble over it. Then Jerry started threatening my father. He wanted one more payment to make things right again. My father said no. So Jerry started to attack.”
“Jesus,” Diesel said. “Are you kidding me?”
“They were like outlaws in suits,” I said. “I think that’s one of the things your club helped with. They pushed back and it went away for a while. Things seemed to calm down. But my father was always looking for new deals to make back the money he lost. He took it from several of his own companies and has been facing jail time since.”
“Shit,” Diesel said. “That’s why he was in New York? And now he fled to London.”
“To hide,” I said. “Like he always does. A lot of things he did were illegal. But this medical stuff was the worst.”
“So why are they targeting you? And now?”
“I’m the easy way to get to him,” I said. “They want to kill me to break him down. The threats started a while ago but it was nothing more than threats. Then my apartment was set up and attacked.”
“By Jerry?”
“He’s working alone, trying to finish all of the job. He wants me dead and my father to pay… but I think he wants my father dead. If my father is arrested for real, he could explain everything that happened. So Jerry attacked my apartment. My father called your club for help. He had this offer in New York. Some tech company going public. If it went through, my father would collect millions. What was he going to do then? I don’t know. Maybe pay Jerry. Maybe set Jerry up to go down.”
“I have to call Prez,” Diesel said. “We have to get this in the open. The clubhouse needs to be on lockdown. The prospects need to head back. And you and I have the get out of this cabin. Whatever happens, I’ll protect you.”
Diesel stood up and I grabbed at his hand. “Please don’t be mad at me. I was trying to preserve my mother’s legacy and my father…”
“I don’t know what I feel right now,” Diesel said. “But I know this. We’re in danger. And it’s my job to get us out of danger. Go get another coffee and stay inside. I’ll be back in a minute.”
Diesel was on the move.
I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. But I didn’t feel any better.
I thought about all those times my father kept giving Jerry money. My mother getting sicker. My father going crazier. And then it all exploding.
I lowered my face into my hands and started to cry.
Diesel had the truth. And I had hurt him. He was supposed to protect me but I was the one trying to protect him.
What the hell was I supposed to do now?
I collected myself and got another cup of coffee. I cleaned up the mess on the floor and tried to hit the reset button. I stood at the window, admiring the snow for the last time. I knew by the end of the day I’d either be dead or be back in town with the MC.
Turning, I glanced at the Christmas tree again.
Diesel had really done a lot for me.
I didn’t want him in the middle of my father’s war.
But there he was… right in the middle of it. And he knew everything. There was nothing else to hide. My family had been messed up for years. My father had been on a quest for money and power only to lose a lot of it because of an illness he couldn’t prevent or stop. See, when my mother had a problem with her car, he bought her a new one. When I had a problem with my third grade teacher, I was transferred to a new class. In fifth grade when I encountered my first bully, I was sent to a new school. That’s how my father did things. My mother was the caring and nurturing one. She took care of us and took care of everything.
When she got sick, she knew she didn’t have time. She spent each moment with me, giving me life lessons through funny stories and hugs that I could still feel if I shut my eyes. But my father got tied into Jerry and his “companies.” I knew they were all corrupt. My father saw two things: fixing my mother and having a way to exploit Jerry’s ideas to make money. As much as I hated to admit it, my father would have been the kind of guy to find a cure that costs a dollar and then charge ten thousand dollars because he could.
I stood there at the window letting all those memories consume me again. Knowing my father was wrong. Knowing my mother was sick. Knowing my father losing money hand over fist. Knowing my mother was losing her life day by day.
And then it all came crashing down like a house of cards.
My mother gone. My father devastated.
And then Jerry pushing for more money, for my father’s death, anything to rattle him enough to keep his mouth shut. Then I became part of the problem. That’s what it was. A problem. I was a problem. My father told me that on many occasions. I never understood why he kept me alive the way he did. Maybe there was something that resembled a heart inside his chest. I always figured it was money.
But now look what I had. My own mess to deal with. Falling in love with a man that was supposed to protect me and not touch me. He did more than touch me. Way more.
I shut my eyes for a second and took a deep breath. I envisioned Back Down Devil MC. They were powerful. Strong. Smart. Trev was a good man who could lead. The guys all followed him. Diesel was powerful too. He could handle his own if need be.
I was in good hands.
Really good hands.

p; I let out a breath with a groan.
The groan rumbled through my body, but then I heard a different sound.
This loud pop kind of sound.
I opened my eyes and looked down. I was holding the handle of the coffee mug and nothing else. There was a hole in the window.
I spun around and the front door to the cabin was wide open.
And the man from the coffee shop was standing there, a gun in his hand.
thirty-five.

I ended the call with VP. I told Jasper what was going on. That I got all the details from Tia. He told me that Carl was on a flight back to California to settle up business. Simply put - Carl wanted his daughter back. I sensed worry in Jasper’s voice over that, which told me Carl was planning on using Tia as a pawn or some kind of leverage to get what he wanted. Piece of shit businessman who would sell his own soul for a dime.
Only now he was fucking with the woman I loved. Whether she was his daughter or not, she was now mine. I’d protect her until my last damn breath came out of my lungs.
VP said to get the hell out of there. He’d call the prospects and tell them to stop where they were and wait.
I was in the woods with the cabin still in sight. Snow all around me. The cold temperatures poking through my skin, wanting to hit my bones. I had no idea how anyone could like this shit on a regular basis. I saw an outline of the fireplace and the chimney as it climbed up the side of the cabin. Right next to that - on the inside of the cabin - was the Christmas tree.
A fucking Christmas tree.
But that’s what Tia had done to me. She made me enjoy that shit. I was a fan of Christmas, but only through the eyes of Tia. To see her face light up when she saw the tree lit up. Setting up that bed next to the tree and fireplace. That was what mattered to me.
And all that mattered to me was put on a thin rope a moment later when I heard a sound that I could not mistake for anything else.
A gunshot.
Fuck.
Someone was in the cabin with Tia.
I came around the corner, moving through the open door, and I saw a man with a gun walking toward Tia.
“Where is he?” the man asked.
“Who?”
“Your savior. I know he’s here.”
“He went outside to make a call,” Tia said.
