  “Our kiss?”

“Did I just say that?” She gasped.

  Victor laughed.

  Chapter 3

A beautiful shade of red colored Addy’s cheeks. She dreamed of them kissing? Did that mean she was single? She’d seen him in her dreams. The reason why it didn’t take long to make her understand everything he told her. A beautiful Dreamer. Man, if he were human, he wouldn’t stop until she became his. Unfortunately, a Midnight Howl was not allowed to get close to a human. A rule they all had to follow, which he just broke few minutes ago.

Victor thought about what all Addy just said—an odd feeling pricked his chest. Was she the reason why he kept going back to the alley? A Dreamer who possessed a certain spear that his clan would most likely want to see and claim? There had been stories around the world that the spear had been found. Most claimed that they had the real one, but like always, it had been proven to be a hoax. Addy’s spear however…hummed with its unleashed power. Aside from that, she could make it shorter or longer, as well. Without a doubt, it was the one.

He glanced at the spear. Shiny and magnificently designed with what looked like long and thin rays of sunshine. And this woman in front of him possessed a certain power, too. Damn. She was a beauty and a distraction. A dream. Her tank top failed to hide her erect nipples that she most likely didn’t realize were showing. Her silky white shapely legs made him think of all the naughty things he could do with them. But this wasn’t the time and day to fantasize. He needed to focus. He pulled a counter stool out and sat on it. “In your dreams, you’ve seen the shape-shifters.”

“Yes. Victor, listen. I’ve been dreaming about wolves since I was fifteen, the same year when my parents died. But this is the first time that one of them actually appeared in real life. You. I don’t know what to make of this.”

“I know. But you weren’t just dreaming, babe. You were seeing signs of what is soon to happen.”

“Or already happened or what is happening. It’s not fun seeing anyone, shape-shifters or not, die.”

“If it’ll make you feel any better, there are more of your kind, love.”

“My kind. You say that as if I’m some kind of a freak.”

“No. Foretellers, dreamers, ghostseers, aura reading, astral projection etcetera. Abilities that humans often laugh about or consider to be stupid, unbelievable, made up.”

  “What about Psychometry?” she asked.

“Or Psychoscopy. Yes. Do you know anyone?”

“I think my dad was one.”

Victor nodded. It was possible that through Psychometry, Addy’s dad learned where the spear had come from and its history. “Do you know how the spear ended up in your dad’s keeping?”

“As far as I know, the spear has been in the family for ages. According to Dad, the spear was stolen many times, but somehow, for one reason or another, it kept finding its way to our family.”

“What have you noticed about this spear?”

“It has good aim. That’s why I didn’t throw it at you the first time. I could close my eyes and still hit the target if I imagine it. And sometimes, I feel I could summon it, make it do something I want. Never tried it though.”

“You know why? The spear chose you. It answers only to your call.”

  “Impossible.”

“No, love. You are the spear’s new master. And my guess is that the Blood Robbers know about it, too.”

“They wanted Morgan as their hostage. To make me do anything for them, using this spear.”

  Victor nodded.

“You took my brother to your den and you’re not just here to give me the shirt. You’re here to protect me. Am I wrong?”

“No. The Blood Robbers are after you.”

Addy glanced at the spear. “Let them come. They don’t have Morgan. That’s all that matters.”

“You can’t face them until you know how to use the spear. I mean, more than just throwing it.”

“So what do you suggest that we do?”

“I want to take you to Seattle’s Best den. Salazar leads the group and he’s been informed about what happened tonight.”

“Leave? I can’t leave this house.”

  “It’s a must.”

Addy paced back and forth. “Do we have time for coffee?”

Victor checked his watch. Tonight would be midnight solstice. His friends would be celebrating in the den, getting drunk, flirting, while he would be here with Addy. Yeah, he liked the idea. “Coffee sounds good.” He watched her walk around the kitchen counter.

She opened a cupboard and reached for the green can inside. As she raised her arms, her wrap hiked up, showing the lower part of her back and the two dimples there.

Holy smokes! He could probably span her waistline with his hands. And her ass…shit. He wanted to touch those twin globes right now. The beast inside him began to roar. It’d been a long time since he’d bedded a she-wolf. His body yearned for carnal satisfaction.

But he’d better control it. It was bad enough that he kissed her, but if he ended up bedding her, he would be in big fucking trouble. Rule number one: avoid humans. Well, he broke it when he kissed Addy. And he didn’t regret it, but he would make sure it wouldn’t happen again. He was a Midnight Howl. Protector of humans. Oh, yeah. The moment he had laid eyes on Addy, he knew he would protect her no matter what.

Addy pressed the start button on the coffeemaker then turned around to face him. She leaned against the counter and then crossed her arms over her chest, emphasizing her breasts. She stared at Victor, frowning. “I have to tell you something.”

  “Fire away.”

“When I dream, which is practically all the time, you—you were always there. I could look at you and feel like you could see me. It’s weird. But I could almost feel your heart.”

His heart. Her words nearly knocked him off the stool.

“Someday my dear boy, a woman will feel your heart beat. Her life will be bound with yours. Your hearts will become one.”

Those were his mother’s words before giving him a ring with engraved words inside—My Only Heart. This was really weird. He didn’t know what to say.

  “Why is that?” Addy asked.

“I’m not sure.” Could it be she’d been the reason why he’d been going back to the alley? Her heart calling to him? Victor swallowed. He’d seen lots of beautiful women, but none of them had this carnal effect that he felt the moment he laid eyes on her. His mind and body wanted to mate with her. Claim her until both of them were satisfied. No. Fate wouldn’t be this cruel. He vowed to protect humans. Not mate with them. His heart. “Mugs?”

  “Left hand side,” Addy said.

Victor found two matching mugs. Both were porcelain with cobalt brushwork and glaze. They were a bit taller than the regular coffee mugs. “Nice.”

  “Dad’s gift to Mom.”

“How do you like your coffee?” He poured coffee into the mugs.

“With cream and two sugars, please.”

  “Real sugar?”

“I have sweetener in the drawer in front of you.”

He opened the drawer and found the little yellow packets. Ripping two at the same time, he poured the contents into the mug. After stirring the coffee, he handed the mug to Addy.

She scrunched her nose when she took a sip of his coffee. “How can you drink black?”

“Use to it, I guess.” Since Addy remained standing, he didn’t bother going back to his seat. He leaned his hip on the counter and watched her blow on her coffee. Something about sharing coffee in the kitchen in the middle of the night, spelled domesticity and intimacy. He watched his parents spend time in the kitchen talking, eating, drinking, and always, always sharing a kiss. Something he’d always wanted for himself.

Victor glanced at Addy‒the first human he actually spent more than an hour with and yet‒he already felt connected with her. Worse, he imagined sleeping with her. Of course, she was one gorgeous woman, very sensual without even trying. But he
d never felt like this before toward any human.

They stood three feet apart. Close enough, so he could see tiny freckles on her shoulders and chest. A small birthmark in the shape of a crescent moon on her left arm got his attention. He wanted to trace it with his fingers, with his tongue. Gods of all gods, they had important things to discuss, but all he could think right now, was to touch her. He reached for the wayward lock that fell on her cheek and tucked it behind her ear. It would have to be enough. For now.

With this move, Addy’s cheeks flushed a pretty pink again.

Victor smiled and drank his coffee. It tasted perfect. Just like the woman in front of him. “Did you know that Morgan goes by the name of Vrick.”

  “Vrick?”

  “It means wolf in Sanskrit.”

“Is that the name Morgan used when he befriended a Blood Robber?”

“Yes. This particular one is stationed in Oregon Stumptown den. I’m sure you’ve seen them in your dreams. Buzzcuts. You know, weird hair.”

Addy closed her eyes briefly. “Yes. I’ve seen them. It’s my fault. If I didn’t tell Morgan about my dreams, he wouldn’t have searched online and learned about the Arcus and Crom or Blood Robbers and Midnight Howls. I wish my parents were still here. So I could share all of this with them.”

  “How did they die?”

Sadness flittered across Addy’s face. “They died in a car accident when I was fifteen. The same year my sleeping cells woke up.”

  “Sorry, love.”

“Me, too.” Addy swung her gaze down.

Victor spotted the sparkle of tears in her eyes. Slowly, he closed the distance between them and cupped her face. He wiped the hot tears rolling down her cheeks with his thumbs, and then kissed her forehead. “I’m sorry.” Just like that and she was back in his arms again. He wanted to absorb all the pain she felt. How was it even possible to feel this protective towards someone he’d only just met not even an hour ago? “It’s not your fault, baby.” Reluctantly, he let go of her, otherwise he would start kissing her again. He moved a lock of hair from her eyes again. Damn, he just couldn’t stop touching her.

Obviously, Addy was having a hard time taking everything in. She seemed lost in her own thoughts. “I promised my parents that I’d take good care of Morgan. Oh, god. He saw the shape-shifters fight? He must have been really afraid.”

“Quite the opposite, babe. I think he actually enjoyed watching the fight. He was smiling the whole time and didn’t seem to mind his injury.”

“Dad filled his head with paranormal stories, about powerful weapons like the sword, spear, couldron, wolfs shifting into humans. He would hang on to Dad’s every word. Now, he got to see a real shape-shifter and to him, it was probably like having a good time.”

“I’m sure.” Leon sent his soldiers to find Morgan. It wouldn’t be difficult for them to know where Addy lived. He needed to take her to Seattle’s Best den. The leader, Salazar was already waiting for this to happen. Once there, they would figure out what to do.

His cell rang. Fishing the phone from his front pocket, he looked at the screen. It was Watt. “Dyrdek.”

  “You still with Morgan’s sister?”

  “Yeah.”

“You guys need to move. Pronto.”

“Shit. Thanks, Watt.” To Addy he said, “We have to go. Now.”

  “Trouble?”

“Nothing we can’t handle.” Damn. I hope so.

  Chapter 4

“The boy is not online, Leon.” Gus cleared his throat. “He’s usually gabbing already around this time. Leon, you there?”

Leon Marvello, the ruthless, fuck-the-rules type of leader of Oregon Stumptown already knew why the boy wasn’t online. Because he had sent his best soldiers to nab him. They were probably on their way here, where his sister would join him soon. Fuck! He hated that intercom. A fucking intrusion. But he couldn’t and wouldn’t disable it. Many times in the past, it had proven that it was faster to reach him just by pushing a button than dialing his phone number.

“Uhm, what should I do, Leon?”

Fucking cut your balls off. Gus, a full-blooded Crom like him could crack any computer codes and passwords. A fucking genius, but he couldn’t function without Leon telling him what to do. Like a nail, you had to pound him first before he did his job. Leon even caught Gus blabbing about the clan’s history to the boy online. What he didn’t say though was that they don’t die easily. Why? Who the fuck knows. Must have skipped Gus’s mind because it had nothing to do with computers.

Leon gave his long time Filipina lover, Nora, a kiss on top of her breasts and then leaned back again on the headboard. He kept his hands on Nora’s waists, helping her ride his cock slowly. Maybe if he ignored Gus he would go away. “Yeah, baby. Ride me slow and hard. Take your time.”

Nora smiled, with her tongue in between her teeth. Her eyes at half-mast from passion and vodka. “You’re so long, Leon,” she purred. “So fucking long. I love your cock.”

“All yours, sweets, all yours.” He thrust his hips upwards meeting Nora’s shaved pussy as she lowered herself again slowly. “Ah, sweet pussy. Do you want me to lick you?”

  Nora whimpered, “Yes, yes.”

  “Leon? I know you’re—”

“Shit!” Leon pressed the intercom button on the bedside real hard. “What the fuck, Gus? Just look for more stupid kids like him online.” He didn’t want to tell Gus everything. The young shape-shifter talked too much and there were spies everywhere. He would let everyone know about Vrick and his sister, once they showed up in their den.

“Leon, I’ve been doing this for years. Vrick is the only one that I found so far. I don’t think—”

“Say one more thing and I’ll cut off your balls,” he snarled then hung up. “Sorry about that, love. I’m surrounded with imbeciles.”

“No, worries.” Nora leaned back. “Lick me, love,” she cooed then lie on her back. Her legs spread wide. She began rubbing her clit, moaning as she did. “Come on, baby.”

Leon stared at the beauty in front of him. Tall, with light brown skin, slim waisted, big breasts with dark brown nipples and a fucking expert in bed, Nora had made his life so interesting and hot. Cupping his balls, he licked his lips at the sight of Nora’s glistening wet pussy. Beautiful. “Lift your ass. That’s it.” He stacked all the pillows beneath Nora’s ass. “Perfect.”

Nora anchored her legs on his shoulders. “Baby, now?”

“My pleasure.” With the pillows beneath her sweet ass, Victor spread her pussy then gave Nora’s clit one long lick.

  She screamed his name.

Oh, he loved it when she screamed. Over and over, he licked her sweet juices off her pussy while he stroked his cock. Damn. Her flavor alone could make him so fucking hard. He flicked his tongue over her clit then sucked it hard.

  “Leon, oh fuck! Don’t stop.”

Like a mad dog, he worked on her pussy, switching between licking and sucking. The sounds he made heightened the pleasure that had already built up inside him.

“Tongue-fuck me, Leon. Oh, love, yes…”

Leon gave Nora what she wanted because he wanted the same. He loved her flavor and scent. Using two fingers, he penetrated her while sucking her slippery clit. Nora’s walls throbbed around his fingers—So creamy. Leon’s fingers mimicked what he wanted to do with her with his cock.

Nora moaned. “More. I’m coming, darling. Don’t stop!”

Leon trapped Nora’s clit between his lips and quickened his fingers tempo. Damn, fuck. He was on fire. But he was intent on making Nora come. Oh, he loved to please her, taste and feel her delicious cum.

“Leon…Leon…Yes!” Nora nearly spit his fingers out when she reached her orgasm.

“That’s my girl.” Leon pulled the pillows from beneath Nona’s ass then threw them on the floor. “Now, my turn.” He smiled as he stared at Nora. She looked languid, but he wasn’t done. Holding his cock, he aimed it at Nora’s glistening pussy. Inch by inch, he pushed until
he was embedded to the hilt. “Fuck!”

Nora let out a lusty moan. “So good, Leon.”

“We’re good together, baby.” He pulled back then thrust really hard. “Oh, yeah.” Using his arms, he trapped Nora’s legs to keep them spread apart then fucked her like a beast. With each thrust, Nora screamed. Oh, now Leon was too high to slow down. He wanted to come. And he did.

Sated, Leon rolled on his side taking Nora with him and then closed his eyes. He was about to doze off when the intercom buzzed again. “Fuckin’ eh.”

“You should get that. I’m going to sleep. Wake me up before you leave.” Nora rolled onto her belly and then closed her eyes.

Leon kissed her temple before scooting off the bed. He quickly put on his jeans and left off the shirt and shoes. Pressing the intercom, he said, “I’m coming out, Gus. This had better be good.”

He made his way down. There must be six big flat television screens in the room where Gus had connected to his computer. All lined up to create a panel. Leon didn’t care much about the new technology, but having them was helpful. Bloggers around the world flocked to their websites claiming to be wolves and shape-shifters. Most of them wannabe’s. Some studying supernatural and the others were simply curious.

  Humans are stupid.

Except Vrick. He had caught their attention when he asked about dreamers and Lugh’s spear. Oregon Stumptown techs tried to answer him as best they could and to keep him talking. It paid off. Vrick mentioned the markings on Lugh’s spear that no human knew about. But Vrick wasn’t the master. It was his sister, the Dreamer. He would bet his tail on it.

Vrick told Gus where he would be tonight. Oh, he could hardly wait to meet him. His clan would probably go mad if they saw the humans in their den, but they would understand as soon as he explained his reasons. The boy and his sister would help him defeat the Midnight Howl. They should be here soon. Oregon wasn’t that far from Seattle. “Fill me in, Gus.”
