Witches in Wonderland Page 25

“Oh, she did. But she’s decided she wants to stay in Willow Realm with the shop, making it her home brewing spot. I think the idea of fame and fortune overwhelmed her. She’s never been in it for the money or notoriety. She just loves potions. Plus, business at the shop is booming. We had to hire more staff just to keep up.” Vivi slipped a pair of silver hoops through her earlobes.

A knock sounded on the door. Sometimes a witch needed to make the future she wanted happen the best way she could.

“Let’s go, sisters!” Derek yelled from downstairs. “The party guests await.”

Honora leaped for the door. “Time to party. I’m glad we went with the white theme.”

Clover flung open the door and the sisters followed her down. “It stands for new beginnings, especially with Charles back in the picture.”

Vivi wedged herself between her sisters. “Mom seems happy for the first time in a long while. She’s spent many a long night talking to Charles. I hope things work out for the best.”

The sisters raced outside to meet their guests. The yard was filled with friends and family all dressed in white. Elsie and Henrietta fluttered around the yard smiling and chatting away. It wasn’t a wedding. Vivi didn’t know what her vision of a Mayhem wedding really meant, but she wasn’t worried, especially when she spotted the handsome sheriff walking her way.

“A welcome home party for both your mom and dad was a good idea,” Lance said, weaving his fingers through hers and squeezing her hand. Her stomach still fluttered when he held her close and she hoped that feeling never went away. She leaned into his strong body and felt at home.

“It’s a fresh start for all of us to get to know our dad for the first time and for our parents to heal old wounds.”

“It’s just the beginning,” Lance said. “You never know what our future holds.”

“Well, technically, I kind of do. And it looks pretty great, Sheriff.”

Vivi’s boyfriend blushed and music began to play, bringing the party to life.

Special thanks once again to friend and editor extraordinaire Elizabeth Buck for helping make the book as nice and polished as possible. I couldn’t have done this without her.

  About the author

Since she was a little girl, Lauren Quick has been a believer in the unbelievable. She loves all things fantasy from fables and fairy tales to high fantasy and urban paranormal and everything in between, especially if witches are involved. “The more magic, the better” is her motto, and if a mystery is involved, then she’s all in. She lives in Maryland with her family and familiar cat, Sadie, that has so far shown no magical tendencies, but there’s always hope. For more visit her website at www.laurenquick.com
